Summer fled her hometown after being betrayed…twice on the same day. Her father tried to force her into marrying someone she hated and the man she was in love with turned out to be a liar. Heartbroken, she left them both behind and swore never to return.
Never say never. The death of her father and a determined lawyer force her to come back home. It will only be for one day. She’ll be in and out of town before anyone realizes she’s there. At least that’s the plan.
The love of Ryder’s life just disappeared. She didn’t even bother to say goodbye or tell him why she was leaving. He tried to find her but wasn’t successful. Over the years, he’s hardened his heart. He doesn’t need love. That is, until Summer is standing before him.
She’s back. And in danger. Eleven years may have passed, but one thing hasn’t changed. Ryder still wants her…now more than ever.
I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.
Ryder and summer are at the rodeo and they think they are having a fake wedding with the rodeo clown and he’s drunk they sign the papers when there is a emergency Ryders brother is hurt. Ryder goes with his brother to the hospital and Summer goes home to all hell. Her father knows she was out with Ryder and he don’t like it so him and his cult friends are going to try to force Summer into marrying the son of the cult leader. But summer escapes only to find out that Ryder has been keeping secrets. So she runs leaving a heart broken Ryder. 11 years have pasted and now she has come back because her dad died only to find out more secrets and almost gets killed. So enjoy another great read sure hope more are coming in this series!!
So glad to see this next book in the series since there was a huge gap between releases on her books. I know she's had some health issues and wish her all the best.
The fake/real marraige between Ryder and Summer was a nice plot twist. Her on the run for over a decade after first her father trying to force her to marry a nasty man and then finding out Ryder had been lying to her was a tough thing. Then she comes back to town and her day just keeps getting worse and worse. But things turn around when she runs from an attack right into Ryder's arms and he and his brother protect her.
Nice follow ups with the other two brothers that had books and we still have the oldest and youngest as well as Adam & Trip. Maybe she'll get around to them eventually.

I totally enjoyed Ryder and Summer’s reunion after 11 years of miscommunication and betrayal. This town sure has its fair share of terrible parents. Mixed in was racism/classism against the Raines from non friendly cult and the Ranch she ran from, Summers quick ride in and out of town was far than she bargained for after she is notified of her father’s death! Hoping to avoid Ryder and the church members her father tried to marry her off to she is ambushed and begins a fight for her freedom form the pain and heart ache.
Wow! I wondered how this storyline would go with Summer and Ryder. Well done on making this storyline interesting to continue reading and making Summer and Ryder find each other again happy to be together again 😀 👍 👏
As well as bringing this series back to life with the added storylines. 3 down and 2 to go plus the added 2 as well🤗🤗 Let's not forget the possible spinoff with her offer towards to end of the book.😉 So many possibilities! Yay!!

I'm generally not a fan of second chance romances but there were very good reasons they didn't work out the first time around.
I liked book 1 and book 2 with the other brothers better. It bothered me that we didn't get to see the beginning of their relationship or how they met. We are just told about it years later when they talk about their past.
I've been waiting a long time to read more books in this series. Laurann didn't disappoint with this book. Ryder and Summer not only have some misunderstandings to work through, but add in trouble from her dead father's friends makes for some interesting reading. I can't wait to read more about the rest of the Raine brothers.
We've known Ryder as the trouble maker of the Raines since the first book. I can honestly say he has redeemed himself and more. Summer is amazing and is portrayed as a smart, independent woman who can stand up to Ryders charm. I can't wait until the next book.
I LOVE the Raines! I’d forgotten how much I love that series. Summer and Ryder were split up because of their fathers. I loved seeing them come back together. She had struggled on her own, he had suffered while she was gone. This was a fast paced book, but the plot didn’t suffer for it. They were met with a lot of challenges, but their love for one another won. I wanted more!
I couldn't put the book down. Stayed up til 5 am reading. Laurann Dohner your one of my favorites. Loved the HEA, sometimes I get tired of cliff hangers from other authors. Love the Alfa males without being over the top. Please keep writing. Can't wait for your books to come out.
You never know for sure which way a story will go when reading a book Lurann writes. I loved this book. ❤️ It had action, hot romance, and surprises. The chacters drew you in with their interactions with each other, whether they were good or bad. The book grabs you from the first page and won't let you go until the last word.
Repetitive. Did not need to hear the same story being told time and time again, I think the story is relayed four or five times by the 30% mark and that's just too much. Started out ok, but Ryder really had zero personality as a character, I had no sense of who he really was. Summer was meh. I can't believe I paid for this book.
Summer ran when the stuff hit the fan. Now she back in town and has run into Ryder. This book also had a quick ending which I still do like but I still liked the book.
Another great read by Laurann Dohner. I live her writing and this didn’t disappoint. Ryder and Summer were sweethearts that got separated 11 years before.
Not as good as the previous books in this series. I so miss the Laurann Dohner who write my favorite books like Valiant, Zorus, Deviant, Krell, Veslor Series. Please come back.
