The Rules of Being a Howard
Bring new witches into the world to replenish the bloodline.
Don't expect to live long enough to meet your grandchildren.

And now, our parents are dead and we're the last three witches who can keep the family legacy alive.

Only, I've been bitten by a werewolf so falling for a human is too dangerous.
My younger brother's plans don't include being a witch—he wants a life without magic.
And our little sister can't even leave the house without having a panic attack and is not-so-secretly crushing on our longtime family ally, a vampire who's sworn off love altogether.

So, no pressure or anything.

And like we need more problems – the body of a dead tourist has been found and the murder linked to a beloved and deceased family member. We must now embark on a supernatural mission to prove their innocence... or their guilt.

This is going to require a trip to the café for a serious amount of coffee and the latest in local gossip, plus a whole heck of a lot of wicked good magic...

** Wicked Good Witches includes doors wide open shenanigans and strong language!

Thankfully, I got this one for free on BookFunnel Jan, 20, 2020.

I don't even know where to begin with this hot mess. Constantly shifting POV, with no clear delineation of who is speaking. Storylines you can see coming a mile away. Love triangles, with one supposed surprise member - again, seen a mile away. Swinging from awkward and boredom filled scenes to frantic action. And it ends on a cliffhanger that I don't care enough about to pay to see what happens.

Cheesy, unappealing dialog, and one sex scene in particular that made me gag at the description, I will never be unable to see...

"He groaned, the limp worm swimming in her hot peach, tickling her insides with sudden girth."

Do yourself a favor and give this one a hard pass.

Good concept, bad execution

I got the three book set for free. Otherwise, I would have wasted money. I like the premise of the books, but the author wound up writing soft porn instead of the protector stories. Very disappointing. I really wish that authors would write female characters that didn't immediately go into heat as soon as they see a guy.

3.5 ⭐ - this seemed to be a collection of 3 short stories that were all connected! I enjoyed them and definitely interested in continuing the Howard/Deane saga

Meh...

I only finished this book by skimming large portions. The plot was somewhat interesting but I felt the character development was weak. The "steamy" scenes were too numerous and overdone for my liking. Not a series of interest for me.

Yikes!

Wow, this book was a sh**show from start to finish. I tried to give the author the benefit of the doubt, and kept reading to the end. But yikes! This book needs some serious editing.

For starters, changing perspective and narrator in the middle of a paragraph is just awful. With little to no warning, a different character would suddenly be telling the story.

Second, there are way too many story lines. None are fully elaborated, or thought through. Focus on fewer plot lines and this might have been an interesting story.

I've read many of the latest ratings, and I'm not sure I agree with the hate or negativity. Yes, it does feel rushed at times, and there is some clumsy writing throughout. However, I genuinely enjoyed it. I kept being drawn to my Kindle to continue reading it, which doesn't happen often. The background story is well developed and very interesting in my mind. Many authors would have just spelled it out fully within the first paragraphs, and I like the fact that glimpses of information were shared throughout the book. Give this series a chance, don't listen to the naysayers.

Fantastic story, characters, romance, twists, and turns

The five main characters (three witches, one vampire, one human) are wonderfully developed individuals, growing and changing in response to circumstances, each other, and others. Their island home presents them with paranormal challenges and secrets-some good, some bad. The story is complex and multilayered. I will happily read the next book-pronto!

good

This book was interesting, and very busy. It seem like every time you turned around in this book something was going on with one of the siblings. I did like the fact that this book was three and one, so it just went from one book to the next without pause. Melinda is the youngest of the siblings. She is very insecure with herself, and has a very low self-esteem. Her brothers have been trying to get her to get out of the house for quite a long time. When she finally gets out of the house. She meets a guy and jumps into bed within the first day. For somebody with low self-esteem that’s interesting. then her brother, Michael, finally confesses his love to a girl that he’s been trying to push away for a while. Charlie, the oldest, is trying to prevent himself from turning into a werewolf, but it’s not working out for him too well. Eva has a grudge against the Howards for some reason, but they don’t really say why in this book. All it really shows is that she is trying to thwart them in every turn and doesn’t really say why. Now they found that their enemies have come back to the island. I’m not sure whether I’m going to read the next book in the series or not.

A little much

When the stories focused on the magic and the troubles the siblings faced, they were interesting. However, too much focus on Melinda's feelings for William. I got really tired of the "My William". Doesn't help that he is forever 31 and she is 21. The fact that he has been 31 for over 300 years makes it feel even more wrong. The whole Riley situation made it even more uncomfortable. And the fact that he is now going to be a potential nemesis? Too much "teen" drama. I do like the Michael and Emily romance, but not all of the peach talk at the end of book 3. A little too cheesy for me 😂 If we could have more of the bad guys vs. good guys and the search for the dad be the focus, I'd definitely like this series more, but I can honestly say that I just don't like Melinda enough to continue.

I have read the entire series and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. They are all well written and they are full of terrific characters. The author always includes lots of plot twists. The sisters, their moms and their eccentric aunt own and run a B & B in a town that has rebranded itself into paranormal center with lots of paranormal centered shops, events, etc, but there are no paranormal there, save for the Winchester, and they certainly are not going to admit to being witches. When you include the sheriff, who is in love with one of the moms, a all 3 moms are interested in him, plus the whacky aunt, who is always doing something that is not quite legal, you can begin to see how things might turn out quite as planned. Great reads. Enjoy!

★★★☆☆ – Decent Plot, But a Disjointed Read

Wicked Moon has a solid premise and an interesting plot, but the execution made it tough to stay engaged. The constant shifts in point of view—often without any warning—left the narrative feeling disjointed and at times confusing. It flits between characters too frequently, which disrupted the flow and made it hard to connect fully with anyone.

There’s definitely potential here, and the core story had enough intrigue to keep me going. But overall, the lack of structure in the storytelling took away from what could have been a much more immersive read.

4 1/2 *****. Witches, shifters, vampires and more are drawn to Demon Isles. The Howards, a young family of witches, along with a a long time family friend, are sworn to protect the inhabitants of their cozy beach town.

This is an exciting 3-part book that begins the PNR series and has non stop action from beginning to end with some steamy romantic moments for the Howard siblings.

This story ends in a cliffhanger but is worth continuing on to the next book in the series.

What a hodge podge of a book. The family lurches from one emergency to another with sex thrown in to fatten the story. For a family of witches they don’t know a lot about other mystical creatures- seem to be to caught up with themselves. Nor do they plan or communicate with each other creating unnecessary complications. As for the ending… it just left the reader hanging and not wanting to read the next book. Do not recommend.

Protecting a legacy can be tough

Parents gone, three witch siblings are the guardians over the Demon Island, their home. Charged with protecting it from evil and helping the local law enforcement, there’s more happening than you would imagine. Werewolves, Mermaids, Giant Leaches, the supernatural community is live and kicking in this trilogy. Each sibling has their own personal hang ups to overcome along the way.

Almost worthwhile

As a part of a story this one is really successful. The story is good, the characters are well thought out but,to my great dismay, everything grinds to a halt in the middle or ,to be precise, the book just stops in the middle of the story. I probably won’t bother reading any more of this series unless a full omnibus happens because I see no point in reading something that doesn’t contain a complete adventure.

Magically mysterious

Books 1 - 3, were fun, magical, mysterious, and wonderful to read. I couldn't put it down. The characters were fully fleshed out, the storyline flowed easily including some romance and.....you need to read them. I need to get started on the next set. Happy reading

Interesting

A little slow to get going and not what I would call a page turner, but overall a good read. Three special young adults, each with different gifts of magic protect a special island. Their protector is a 400 yr old vampire. Good characters and interesting world building, the story draws you in. You'll have to read it for yourself.

Desperately needs an editor

There’s excessive punctuation where it isn’t supposed to be, and more missing where it needs to be. Melinda is an airhead who cares more about sex than anything else. She makes one stupid decision after another. This one volume was enough for me. I’m not reading this author again.

This book was a freebie, it has a adult and teen book, I enjoyed the book, The different ideas of different supernaturals living together in family harmony and madness.. going through shared hardships and even depression. This book made me think about a few things of family dynamic's and that which affect it on different levels. It did have steaminess for the adult version.. it was a good read

I enjoyed this serialized story, but was thrown off by the mistake the author made incorrectly describing how apple cider is made. That error threw me and colored my final opinion, unfortunately. If the reader can ignore this lack of research (and please do not attempt to make cider this way), as I said, the story itself is a lot of fun to read.

The Howards are a family of witches protecting the magic of Demon Isle - there are shapeshifters, mermaids, a vampire and a guardian involved in their lives. They're also young adults with complicated love lives.

A good read.

Worth reading

I liked the book. The characters at times drove me a little nuts. The reason they are like they are is well laid out but sometimes it was just a bit too much. However the story line is good and holds the interest.

Thoroughly engaging

Great storyline with interesting characters. The steamy romance actually helps the story, rather than being a distraction to the main plot. Such an interesting story with nicely done teaser endings, entice the purchase of the next book. Do it.

Wicked Moons

A lovely witchy story, filled with magic, action, turmoil, trials and tribulations. Strong characters that transplanted me into another world. An ideal story to escape the real world for some time.

Hot Paranormal !

A great fantasy world filled with the gamut of emotional swings and steamy romance. The depth and breadth of the characters is impressive from mermaids to vampires and everything in between. Each character Is developed and consistent. Fun read.

Not for me

I'm sure if this is your thing It's a good read. It wasn't what I expected. Ìts very tounge in cheek, and I am sure every supernatural being ever known will make an appearance in future instalments.

Curioso, las mismas 3 short-stories que Charmed Witches pero en version +18. Añade unos cuántos párrafos picantes y el resto es exactamente la misma literatura... Sinceramente, creo que me gustó más la versión YA (+14).

Cute Stories

Cute magical stories. I'm usually used to reading a bit darker books but i really enjoyed these and am looking forward to the rest of the series. For very well written lighter supernatural story telling, i highly recommend.
