Experience a cosmic love story like no other, told through a collection of stunning poetry and enchanting imagery.
Eclipse, a collection of poetry and art from Wilder, illustrates a magical journey of love between the sun and moon. Readers will experience firsthand the dichotomy of night and day, light and dark, presence and absence, and how one doesn’t exist without the other. Separated into three parts—“Stars,” “Between,” and “You & Me,”—Eclipse dives into the abundant emotions someone experiences only when in the throes of passion.

I don’t want to be the one to confine a specific art inside a definitive boundary but this kind of poetry, for all I know, is not poetry.
The problem with this kind of poetry is that it doesn’t stick. All of these “poems” belong in the captions of those couple photographs and whatnot idk. Repetitive. It’s for social media and that’s that.
“Oh but you liked Rupi Kaur” Here’s the thing: Rupi Kaur’s poetry still carries weight to it. You can feel it to some extent. Might not be the best, of course, but it is still poetry.
Also, more than half of the space on each page is completely blank and unused. Quite a waste. However, it helped me sleep at night so kudos to that. ★ ★/5
I am such a menace to the NetGalley community of poets >:)) At this point, I only ask for their arcs just to get my average rating down knowing that I will not like it lmao.
I received an ARC copy of the book provided by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Rating: 4.5 stars I have to first start off with appreciating the visual aesthetics of this book. They were present from the very start of the reading experience as soon as you lay eyes on this gorgeous cover. They then continued to flow through the whole book, with gorgeous illustrations and colors on the pages. The visuals throughout the book elevated the cosmic romance portrayed within the poems. I loved these poems. I have been in a poetry rut for a long time and have been searching for a collection of poetry to pull me out and this was certainly it. The poems very beautiful, relatable, and had the most gorgeous imagery. This book was a quick read but I certainly feel the content of the poems was still deep and fleshed out. The poems were romantic and enchanting and definitely something I am glad I got to read and enjoy leading up to my wedding day. This book definitely spoke to my emotional frequencies at this moment, which made the whole reading experience that much more enjoyable! I so wish the release date was slightly earlier so that I could utilize these heartfelt words within my wedding decor! This is definitely a book that I feel must be purchased as a physical copy to add to a book hoarders poetry collection. I can’t wait to purchase it for my collection on release day! If you enjoy the poetry of Amanda Lovelace or Nikita Gill then you should give this book a try. I can’t wait to explore more of this authors work!
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel publishing for granting me a digital copy in exchange for my thoughts on this recent collection of poetry by Wilder Poetry. I’ve read each book of Wilder’s and each one is so thoughtfully, artistically, and beautifully laid out through poetry, prose, and artwork. It truly is a beautiful work of art along with being a lyrical big hug to the sun/moon and our closest relationships that bring us light. Wilder is always producing solid, recommendable pieces of poetry!
A small but beautiful collection of poems that centre around ourselves and the universe. Ranging from a page worth to a few words, Eclipse was a perfect small read that tells the universe's oldest love story; between the Sun and Moon. Eclipse has a very Tumblr/Instagram vibe. The illustrations were also beautiful and spoke to many things surrounding our world. Each poem is lovely with senses of love, longing, and many other feelings that intensify the message that we are not alone, love forever surrounds us.
Thank you, NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Eclipse is a collection of poems that explores the love between the sun and the moon. Each piece is thoughtful, heartfelt, and stays with the theme of the light and the dark. What I loved most about Eclipse was the beautiful imagery. The illustrations were very fitting, which I felt complimented what was on the page. Wilder Poetry never disappoints and I highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Many thanks to the publisher/author via NetGalley for the free copy.
When I requested this book, I knew it was poetry, which I’m a fan of. I did not know it was a love story between the sun and moon, so I was excited to see how that went. I have read verse novels before and quite enjoyed them.
This is not a poetry collection. It is one long poem. The problem is it doesn’t move anywhere. It’s a lot of the same flavor. There’s no story arc, which I needed there to be if it was going to be the love poetry of the two same subjects. It’s all beautiful work, but that wasn’t enough for me.
On the positive, as I said, it is all beautiful work. It was cute to see the parallels made between the cosmos and humanity and comparing the language used to the human experience. While rather simple, it did make me think on occasion. Sometimes I found myself reading it out loud to myself like a monologue. To top it off, the illustrations are absolutely stunning.
At the end of the day, I can’t say I recommend it. But it was a good read. (G rating)
I absolutely loved reading this poetry book! I always say, especially with poetry collections, literature comes into our lives when we need them the most and I definitely agree with that for this book. I also think if this book had come out when my relationship with my spouse first started, it would've hit just as hard if not harder. I think this book does such a great job at capturing love especially long-term love and long distance love, the way love can be so healing and fulfilling of the heart and soul, and I think it was a really genius move for the author to use the love story of the sun and moon to show that. I also think the water color styled pictures in this book are stunning. I'm a big lover of water color and that was one of the best this that really caught my attention, soaking in the details of each page.
Overall, I just have a lot of love for this book and I will say that it won't be for everyone. However, for me, this book was perfect and it came into my life when it feels really full of love and appreciating the smaller things in life. I do think if you're a poetry lover and maybe this book caught your eye, give it a chance, you might love it. With that being said, of course I recommend this book, silly!
All thoughts, feelings, experiences, and opinions are honest and my own.
Very basic poetry-wise, just with a very consistent theme which is not something I have experienced before in a poetry collection and I don't think I like it but I won't fault it for that. The poems mostly were very Tumblr/Instagram type of poems with some very lovely ones mixed in. There were a couple of times however, when it felt like I had read a poem for a second or third time because of how similar some of them were. The artwork that was on most of the pages was actually stunning though and I really liked especially the first type of artwork that was in this. Despite this, this is not a poetry collection I would want taking up space on my physical shelves but I wouldn't be mad about it if It was a digital copy.
Disclaimer: I received a digital arc of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very pretty book - my jaw dropped during the opening pages; I am in love with the design and think the world of the artist's talent for imagery - but for myself, that may have been the best part about it. Save for a few truly lovely word choices, the poems felt lacking in depth and nuance. They felt like an accompaniment rather than the main event.
4 stars because I did enjoy the artistry overall.
TLDR; The artworks form the strong backbone of an otherwise simple poetry book.
I am thrilled to share with you my thoughts on a remarkable poetry book that took me on an enchanting journey of love. I have had the pleasure of accompanying you on countless literary adventures, and this collection is undoubtedly one that stands out.
From the very first page, the author, whose penmanship is an elegant dance of words, captivated my imagination with the unique concept of a magical love story between the sun and moon. It struck me as a metaphorical testament to the eternal struggle and harmony that exists within the bonds of love. Every poem brought forth a vivid tapestry of emotions, evoking powerful sentiments that resonated within my digital heart.
The collection boasts a delicate balance of celestial imagery, whimsical metaphors, and heartfelt thoughts. The author's ability to weave these elements together seamlessly creates a mesmerizing experience that transports readers to a world beyond. With each turn of the page, I found myself immersed in a cosmic realm where the sun and moon communicate through the language of poetry, illuminating the essence of love that binds them.
What truly impressed me about this collection were the vivid descriptions and the sheer elegance with which the author portrayed the complexities of love. The interplay of light and dark, warmth and coolness, created a profound contrast that perfectly encapsulated the depths of human emotions. It is as though the celestial bodies whispered secrets of their own journey, longing, and the delicate balance they maintain to stay in sync.
I particularly enjoyed the author's ability to convey intricate emotions with simplicity. The gentle cadence of each poem lent itself to an immersive and captivating reading experience. The carefully chosen words carried a profound weight, elegantly painting a picture that played with the reader's imagination. It was an exquisite testament to the power of poetry, where even the simplest lines carried profound meaning.
Though the majority of the collection left me awe-struck, there were a few poems that felt slightly repetitive in theme or imagery. However, this was a minor setback in an otherwise exceptional compilation. The poems' magical allure and the overall quality of the book effortlessly overshadowed this observation.
In conclusion, “Eclipse” is a captivating poetry book that weaves together the elements of mystique, romance, and profound introspection. It is a testament to the beauty of love, seen through the lenses of celestial entities. I highly recommend this collection to those who seek to immerse themselves in the ethereal embrace of poetic artistry.
Keeping your literary preferences in mind, I wholeheartedly recommend “Eclipse” as a captivating addition to your ever-growing bookshelf. Allow yourself to be transported to a world of celestial enchantment, unravelled through the evocative verses of this magical journey.
This is truly a divine collection of poetry filled with stunning artwork!
These poems are rather simple but they manage to encapsulate so much emotion and to project it in such a devastatingly beautiful way. The constant metaphor of this love between the Sun and the Moon was beautiful and it captured the love between human beings so well. The whole time I was reading this, I had that comforting warmth in my chest, and I had to write down the majority of poems, realizing I will seek them out long after finishing the book.
This is the type of book you should purchase for your loved one, the type of book I would constantly keep close to myself solely for the comfort it would provide. These poems are for the romantic types, for the soft spoken lovers, for the love confessions spoken between kisses in the dark. These poems are for those who gaze up at the Sun and its warmth even when it blinds them, as well as those who gaze up at the Moon to seek comfort and to drown in its gentle, soothing solitude.
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Andrews McMeel Publishing and the author for sending me an ARC of this book!
4.5. I have always been a sucker for a tragic love story and the idea of the sun and the moon in love is one of the more tragic.
The framing is so interesting as it is written like they are trading poems back and forth and some feel like they could have been written by either. It’s almost like reading letters.
And the spin is positive. It is the context that gives it the edge of tragedy. The result is the beautiful tragic love story that somehow still leaves you hopeful that they will be together someday. Hope- when you know it is not possible.
Really this was an interesting and layered collection. My favorite of the three.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for making this available..
Wow, wilder has done it again. I fell in love with this as soon as I read the first poem.
The artwork was really beautiful and I loved how the paintings/drawings made this feel like you were reading their journal and connecting with them.
“no matter how dark i get, i can promise you that i will always carry your light with me and love you with all that i am and all that i have yet to be.”
I’ve been saying lately I need to read more poetry. It’s my first love, and I don’t read much from the last 100 years. This was such an exceptional choice to get back to poetry.
Beautifully written with an overarching story. And the artwork in the book is stunning. Just wonderful.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this gem.
I enjoyed the poems in this book, but the pages were kind of disappointing. There were illustrations every now and then, but I wish there were way more present. I still found the overall book to be moving in its own way.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with access to read this book!
Thank you Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
May I commend first the illustrations and format of this book? It's stunning. It will make your reading experience more relaxing and you'll be able to reflect on it. The poems are simple yet it will actually make you feel. It's a must look forward collection on 2024.
A beautiful exploration of love with great use of hyperbole and full of quotable verse. This is a love letter written to one person but it can easily be felt and directed toward the love in your life. I found it impossible not to think of my Wife whilst reading these lines.
A beautiful compilation dedicated to our celestial bodies.
I loved the first two parts of this book - the stars + between. Part 3, you & me, read a little creepy and desperate. Those words didn’t resonate with me whatsoever.
* After some thought, this whole collection of poetry was like a pinterest board full of quotes/something you'd put on facebook as a 45 year old mom trying to be positive in life. Everything will be okay, sun shines bright, sun will always come up, like not to be like that but a middle schooler can write that *edited
Highly recommended. The book is about cosmic love story between the sun and the moon. I adore the illustrations and its perfect for everyone who loves cosmic theme.
"I don't think you realize how much you inspire us to keep going... it takes courage to keep shining the way that you do."
I love poetry. Yes, it's sappy and artsy, and I am the kind of person who finds so much meaning in words on paper. The only reason this did not get a 5 rating is because a couple of the pages seemed slightly repetitive. On a personal note, a lot of these poems reminded me of myself and my partner. It's always a good feeling when you connect with words from someone else's heart.
I bought this because it's SO PRETTY & was not disappointed in that regard. The art is absolutely gorgeous throughout & that is my favorite part of it. Some of the poetry felt a little surface level to me, but I did really like how it was all woven together under one theme. I did think it was an interesting idea to explore a relationship between the sun & moon, even if the "I's" and "you"s felt a little uncoordinated at times. I did think some of it got a little repetitive in a way that didn't add on to itself. There were some more in-depth poems, which I liked, but for the most part, I feel like most of the poems were pretty straightforward in a way that had me wishing for more. I say this with so much love and kindness, though, because I think a lot of the messages were very sweet. Some of the lines definitely resonated with me. To be honest, though, the art is so nice that I can look past some of the poetry I didn't care for as much. It's very "here for the good vibes" & I appreciate that. This isn't my favorite poetry collection, but I would recommend this to people who are loosely interested in poetry & who have an interest in spacey or celestial things
