This book is like a warm embrace that you didn't know you needed. I've followed Jena for some time now and have always appreciated how she weaves her voice through her art and gently encourages reflection. The stories, illustrations, and messages she shares in this book demonstrate the personal connection and commitment she has to authenticity and will inspire you to consider how you're living into your own through your creative gifts and talents. In addition to offering her relatable personal experiences with how she intentionally tries to center God and her voice, the reflection prompts and spaces for expression are an invitation for the reader to prioritize caring for themselves in a way that honors who they were created to be. The way it's written and how she incorporates a plethora of beautifully vibrant illustrations makes you feel as though you have a friend walking with you on your pathway to reinvigorating whatever gifts you are holding back on or desire to take to the next level. The visuals alone are enough to reignite the spark you need to align with God and identify where you have opportunities to bloom in every creative way possible that brings you fulfillment, peace, and in relationship with those who are assigned to support you. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for an exemplar in how to authentically walk in your purpose. Somewhere among the thought-provoking affirmations, honest personal truths, and enchanting colors in the floral art, you'll see yourself and remember how amazing you are.

This book is for anyone who has put down their creative tools in the name of monetization, hustling, or the lies you believe. Jena shares her experience of being an entrepreneur who creates everything to the glory of God, and I was especially encouraged in how she holds the tension of practicing art as worship and, practically, art being what often pays the bills. To me it read as encouraging blogs to other creatives, easy to recommend the individual essays to my coaching clients and peers. I longed for more Scripture, but appreciated that all the affirmations were biblical. There were many practical tools to fight lies with the truth of God’s Word. If you’re ready to stop delaying obedience in what the Lord has called you to, and enjoy the process with Him, you’ll be encouraged by Jena’s story! 🩷

Thanks to Waterbrook Brooks for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review!

It’s taken me awhile in life to realize and acknowledge that God created us to create. I have had many attempts to delve into a creative hobby, but it’s been challenging for me to stick with something with any sort of consistency. I picked up this book not only bc it is beautiful (it is!) but because I wanted to explore how my faith is related to creativity. I love Jena’s honesty and storytelling. I don’t normally like question prompts in books, but these in particular reached me in a special way. I found myself even in tears at certain points as I explored what was holding me back from even attempting creativity, what lies I was believing, etc. Her words are both thought provoking and practical, and I appreciated that mix.

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve followed Jena’s artwork for many years so I was excited when I heard she wrote a book. This book is very well written. I love the way the chapters are set up. She provides many stories and examples of things that helped her find her creativity. There were so many stories that I could relate to. “Do it as worship.” I have thought of this phrase when it comes to work or serving at church, but I never thought of it for my creative practice. I’m really looking forward to using the tips provided to restart my creative journey again.

This book made me think of how we all have the gift of being creative and we need to share that with others. Sometimes our busy lives get in the way but when we take the time to explore, our creativity will shine through. Jena shares her words of wisdom and gives us insight on how to “tap into” that creativity. Her words help to foster that and with affirmations gives us the practice to become our true creative self.
