Alexander Lawrence is bored. At twenty-seven, his life is an endless loop of painting and teaching—and lots of mind-numbing sex to distract himself from the fact he's trapped in a gilded cage of his mother's making. That is, until his best friend goes back to the Fae realm, leaving a seven-foot hunk of grumping gorgeousness to act as Alex's bodyguard, and he suddenly finds himself totally uninterested in anyone else. It's challenging, pursuing a guy who seems to hate his guts, knowing it might well end in disaster, but Alex never could resist the thrill of the chase.

Teighan is the half-blood son of a King, and a war-hardened Fae Captain to boot. Babysitting humans isn't part of his resume. But he made a promise to watch over Alex—and he never goes back on his word—so for the time being, he's stuck guarding the insufferable artist with the smart mouth and pretty eyes. It's infuriating, but he's oddly enthralled by the creature, and after learning that the boy's life isn't as easy as he assumed, his protective streak awakens. Teighan's resolve is tested to its limit, and despite his efforts to stay indifferent, he's forced to admit that he may have met his perfect match.

Alex struggles to deal with his issues while Teighan tries to pretend his feelings don't exist. Their chemistry is scorching, but there's no way their attraction will ever be more than physical.

Will it?

TEIGHAN is an MM paranormal romance with spice, size difference, and soulmates. It features a sunshine human using flirting in place of therapy, and a surly Fae whose plans of a peaceful life take a mate-shaped detour. TEIGHAN is second in the VEILED CITY series, which must be read in order due to the overarching plot and worldbuilding. Each book focuses on its own pair and their HEA, though certain background elements will be resolved as the series progresses.

Definitely as good as the first book! I love Alex, and I was thrilled when I figured out that this was his and Teighans story. Their relationship was definitely rockier than Luca and Cairs. But I think that fit them. You get a deeper look into both of their lives, and the scars that they carry. I just loved watching them progress throughout this book and in the end finally heal each other's scars. Overall if you liked “Cair” totally pick this one up!

I almost threw in the towel but decided to start skimming instead.

The first book had potential, but this one was weighed down by tedious internal monlogues and pages upon pages of meandering nonsense.

Teighan was a complete asshole (not that Alex was much better, what with his brattiness and constant odes to dicks).

There was no real plot. Two-thirds of the story is Teighan hating on Alex.

I'm not certain I'll be continuing with this series. This book was so boring I even lost interest in Cair and Luca.

I receive a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

If anyone is wondering who Teighan’s biggest fan is, it’s ME. I’ve been obsessed with him since I read Cair, and that came out at the beginning of this year. So I’ve been obsessed this whole year basically. Do you know what that does to a person? I’ve been going out of my mind waiting on this book. The author of this book probably hates me because I can’t stay out of her dm’s and her social media comments. I’m always there, and she probably wants to beat me up. Anyway moral of the story is I’ve been chomping at the bit waiting for Teighan, and as soon as Gay Romance Reviews posted the ARC copies for this, I was the first one to request a copy more than likely. And Miss Eryn Hawk did not disappoint.

I guess you could read this as a standalone considering it follows a different couple than the first, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll be pretty confused on what’s going on due to the overarching plot of the series if you just jump in with Teighan. But I’ll still try my best to tell you what’s going on.

So here’s the juice. This book follows Teighan and Alex. Teighan is a fae living in the fae side of the human world, called Edenglas. He’s a bartender at a Fae bar called The Veil. He’s also Cair’s brother, who is one of the MCs in book one. Alex is a human who teaches art classes to kids. He’s also Luca’s bestie, who is another MC in book one. Cair and Luca go on a trip, and while they’re gone, Luca asks Teighan to look after Alex. Teighan and Alex HATE each other. Well, that’s a lie actually. Teighan hates Alex. Alex just likes being a brat and messing with Teighan. It’s all fun and games to Alex, but Teighan actually can’t stand him. But it’s funny that while he’s adamant that he hates Alex, he’s also awfully protective of him and he can’t stop thinking about him. Let me tell y’all something. Teighan is so freaking dense in this. He never put two and two together and I was like HELLLOOOO!!!?? It actually got to the point that I wanted to hit him upside the head. He wouldn’t acknowledge his feelings, and he would get all defensive and take it out on my sweet Alex who didn’t deserve that. But anyway, I digress.

I really did enjoy watching Teighan and Alex getting to know each other and Teighan realizing that maybe he didn’t hate Alex as much as he thought. There is some groveling in this, though, so that made me feel a little better about his attitude. But they did learn about each others past, and they offered comfort to each other and it was so sweet. And don’t get me started on the protectiveness. We got a few “touch him and die” moments, and I was frothing at the mouth.

Speaking of my frothing, let’s talk about this freaking dirty sex. It was the best. So so so SO good. Teighan has got a mouth on him let me tell you. And a gigantic you know what. I’m telling y’all it’s so big to the point we got a belly bulging scene and we love that. Miss Eryn Hawk checks all my boxes when she’s writing spicy stuff. Bless her.

If you are a fan of the supernatural, grumpy x sunshine, fated mates, and size difference, give this book a shot. Or actually start with Cair and then come to this. And if you are still on the fence, check out this author’s twitter and look at the NSFW artwork she has of Teighan and Alex. If that won’t convince you then I don’t know what will. It’s so hot and the corresponding scene that that artwork is made from was just as sexy. Damn.

I am loving this authors writing a lot, I don't read a lot of fantasy/paranormal books but I will always pick up anything Eryn Hawk writes! After Cair introduced Teighan and Alex, I knew their story would be fiery and delicious - it so was! The push and pull was a big part of the story and learning to see beyond the surface is a big learning curve Teighan had to realise. Sweet Alex was so darling, hiding his pain behind his smiles, my heart hurt for him, but was so happy he could smile fully at the end. A beautiful story, I want the next book so badly and cannot wait to see more from Eryn!

Sadly, this story did not work for me but the number one reason was the complete lack of true chemistry between the MCs.

I felt like the whole story suffered from a lot of telling and unnecessary inner monologue. The two MCs were just not…nice. Who knows how the heck they actually fell in love🤷🏻‍♀️.

The plot could have used a little work as well. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either. Can’t win them all I suppose.

Both this and Cair were REALLY fucking good. And I’m genuinely sad that I’m done with them. It’s definitely a series that is giving me major book hangover. So I’m anxious to find a new series that gives me the same feels.
If you liked Vampires Mate series by Grae Bryan, you’ll enjoy this series. There’s plenty of similarities, but they’re different enough.

I’ve been swamped since last week (it’s been an audiobook only marathon since then), so I listened to these on Audiobook, and Nick J Russo did a fantastic job as always!

This was enjoyable and lived up to the first book.

I really enjoyed Teighan and Alex together. Their chemistry was good and the sex, once we got it, was wonderfully steamy.

I guess there's not much to say because plot-wise? Not much happened at all. The main plot was just kind of getting these two together. Which is fine, because I enjoyed them enough that I wasn't bored.

It just made it slow a few times here and there, as not much was going on.

There was a weird side plot with this one rando like halfway through who was randomly obsessed with Alex, but he wasn't much of a threat, just creepy, and he was handled easy peasy? And Alex's mom was handled easy peasy.

It was all too easy, hence my star off. Like what was the point of these small plot points? They barely added anything to the plot other than to make Teighan possessive and protective. Which was hot, but that was really all there was to it.

So, it gets a solid 4 stars for keeping me invested in these two throughout, and seeing them go from kinda love-hate to just love was fun. But the lack of real plot didn't give this the 5 stars if could have had for me.

Also Teighan goes from resisting whatever is between him and Alex pretty hard to accepting it maybe a tad too easily? It wasn't a complete 180, but still. I wish a little more time had been spent on him realizing his feelings were real for Alex and that he couldn't just will his feelings to go away and that he was falling for Alex.

So once the 'I love you' came, it was a tad rushed as well.

But overall, I enjoyed this and I loved these two characters. They were interesting and lovable. And their chemistry was fire, I loved it.

Can't wait for the next in the series, returning to Cair and Luca as the main focus and back into the Fae world we go! 😘

My Ratings for the Veiled City Series:

🔆 Cair: 4 stars (my review)
🔆 Teighan: 4 stars
🔆 Luca: TBR

"I needed to be closer, to be inside him in every way possible. I needed him to reek of me, to be under no illusions about who the fuck he belonged to."

The long waited second book in the Veiled City series is finally here! I read Cair when it came out almost a year ago, but I still never forgot about his grumpy brother Teighan. I couldn't wait to read his story after realizing he was paired up with sunshiney Alex. There was a lot going on beneath the surface with these two. Smiles and scowls can both be just as effective at hiding ones true feelings. And it turns out these two felt a lot.

"I hated him. But no one else could have him."

Oh Teighan. You hidden marshmallow you. He tried so hard to hide the truth from himself. From everybody, really. Fortunately, he wasn't good enough to hide it from Alex. Alex can be a perceptive little human. He's easy to underestimate. Hell, Teighan was certain he knew exactly what type of person Alex was and I took great enjoyment from reading every time Alex proved his assumptions wrong. Even better was that all he had to do to prove him wrong was be himself. His lovely, but terribly lonely self.

The steam between these two was smoking. Hot hot hot🔥 For some reason I thought this book would lean harder into the Daddy kink. I was wrong. It was pretty mild in the grand scheme of things, so if you're looking for hardcore Daddy/boy dynamic this isn't it. Nevertheless, these two were perfect for one another. They filled the missing pieces in each other's souls. It was quite wonderful once they were all in with one another and I'm so happy Teighan and Alex got their HEA.

“I don’t know who the fuck you think you are but I’m not what you’ve forced yourself to believe I am.”

Pues sorprendida me hallo, la verdad

“I hope, one day, you get to hace your simple life. Wherever you choose. But for now, I’m free of them”.

“If that is a price I have to pay… Then I will play it gladly, Your Majesty. ”

“You deserved happiness just as much as the human does, ”

I love how perfect these two were for each other.

Teighan was the absolute grump to Alex’s sunshine.

I loved the size difference between them, it made the steamy scenes so hot... 🔥🔥

The way they worked through their apprehensions was done really well, making their HEA really enjoyable.

The worldbuilding in this series has been really good and I will most definitely be looking forward to the next book.

"I'd never hurt you, human." I murmured, low and with a hint of a growl. "Not unless you begged me for it."

Oh Teighan... I was almost going to rate this book 5 stars because like Alex, I was totally charmed by Teighan and his possessive grumpy self. But sitting on it for a few days made me come back to my senses and 4 stars seem more appropriate despite Teighan's best efforts lol.

"Fuck rational," I growled, fangs bared, every muscle in my body vibrating with rage. "I'll kill anyone who touches my , so either you come with me, or get the fuck out of my way."

So, this book was great. Like I said, Teighan is grumpy, but he also hates Alex on principle because of some misconceptions... this leads to some interesting scenes between them once Alex convinces Teighan they should sleep together. It's rough, it's hot, and it's everything you could ask for knowing these two. As expected, Teighan eventually warms up to Alex, begrudgingly, but they still keep that grumpy/sunshine dynamic throughout the story, which I love.

Speaking of the story, and that's what made me take off one star to my rating, there isn't much of it... Everything mainly revolves around Teighan and Alex's interactions, but there aren't any major plot points involving the fae realm. We learned more about Teighan's past, which was nice, but the main intrigue of the series revolves around Luca and Cair. So plotwise, I'm more excited about book #3 because we'll go back to Luca. But I really did enjoy reading Teighan; it was a more cozy read... if I can say that about a kinky fae and his human 🌸

Thank you to GRR for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I first read Cair I couldn’t WAIT to get my hands on Teighan’s story and this did not disappoint. If you liked the first book, you’ll love this one! Eryn Hawk builds a fantastic world and that’s part of the reason why I’ll keep reading this series. The other reason is her SPICE. Whew. Hawk seriously writes some of the best steam I’ve read in recent MM romance.

Definitely don’t sleep on this series and check it out!

"The clink of a glass brought my gaze to the other side of the club, and I was damn near floored by how sexy Teighan looked standing behind the bar. My mouth actually watered, and I wished, not for the first time, that he didn't hate me so much, because I would absolutely climb him like a tree."

Another fabulous book from Eryn Hawk and yet another stunning cover too! Can't wait to get my hands on the paperback later this month 💜.

Teighan is book 2 in the Veiled City series and is a paranormal (fae/human) MM urban fantasy romance, set in parallel worlds that operate side by side, separated by a magically created 'veil'. Humans can't travel into the fae realm, but both can live together in between the worlds. This is Teighan and Alex's story.

We first met Teighan and Alex in Cair, with Teighan being the half-brother and bodyguard to Cair, the Prince of the Fae and Alex being the bestie of Cair's bond mate, Luca. They had an instant physical attraction in Cair, but Teighan couldn't get over himself and his prejudice and annoyance of humans to give Alex any time.

How that changes in Teighan! 😈

I am loving this series so far and can't wait for Luca: MM Paranormal Romance, coming out next year.

4 stars.

I enjoyed this one significantly more than Cair. Both Teighan and Alex had much stronger personalities than Cair and Luca, and the humor, emotion, and chemistry were all more intense. I found their journey from hate to lust to love very believable and well done. However, like I had in the previous book, I also had some issues with visualizing the characters and setting. I’m not someone who needs pages of world building, but these are supposed to be non-human creatures in a non-human world, and there was little to differentiate between the human and monster worlds. Plus, both Teighan and Cair are basically just big humans with horns, and as hot as they are supposed to be, I had hoped for more description. I’m guessing the next book will have more unique settings and species, as it takes place in the Fae realm; I’m just unsure if I’m invested enough in Cair and Luca to read it. Nevertheless, this was a solid, enjoyable read with likable characters, and I’m glad I gave book two a chance.

There is also no plot to speak of 🫠

This was so good!

We met Teighan and Alex in Cair’s book and I was excited to see where their story would go. I’ll admit, initially I was not a fan of Teighan. I mean, he had an appeal in the sense that I like guys with bad attitude lol, but the way he could treat Alex was not okay. Teighan was so in his own head and in complete denial over his total obsession with Alex (he never stopped thinking or complaining about him and for someone who hated Alex he was pretty protective - feel my side eye Teighan, feeeeel it). That denial though often led him to lash out against Alex and that wasn’t okay. Yes, Alex would wind him up deliberately but that really didn’t excuse his behaviour. However, once that boy got his head out of his… you can guess… his protective, growls awesomeness was perfect. And, best of all, he actually tried to make up for his behaviour which didn’t excuse his pst behaviour but went a long way to me loving him like I wanted to. As a side note, I think technically you could read this as a stand-alone but I really don’t think you’re going to get the most out of it that way. Anyway, this book was awesome. It’s hot and sweet and a little angsty (hoo-boy is it sexy, Teighan is ridiculous in bed) and just what I was hoping for when I first met Teighan and Alex.

Teighan and Alex took a while to grow on me as characters. It took until the halfway point and up until then I wasn't sure if I would give the book a positive rating or not.

I did end up liking the book, though. It didn't quite live up to the first one for me but I think that was more down to personal taste than quality. Teighan blurred the lines between grumpy and asshole a little too much in the first half and it made me feel so bad for Alex. Alex was beyond patient.

The reason I ended up giving the book 4 stars was because the second half was much better, the writing quality and dialogue were good, it made me laugh a few times, and the smut went crazy.

I'm not sure how I feel about the conflict with Alex's mother and the side plot with the blue haired guy. I can't say Alex's family drama was pointless because of how much it informed his character but it was definitely underdeveloped. The blue haired guy randomly kidnapping Alex felt totally pointless, but at the same time, kidnapping plots are so common in romance (especially supernatural romance) that it was kind of funny how anticlimactic it was in this instance.

I had really high hopes for this book after reading book 1 as I loved Cair and Luca. Unfortunately this one wasn’t a hit for me. It was a little too long and I wasn’t as much of a fan of these characters and some of the tropes. There were still parts I did enjoy though and overall I liked their story.

Teighan was a great grumpy character. He was a bit too much of an asshole in some parts but he realized right away his mistakes and was doing his best to make it up to Alex. Alex was an interesting character and there was a lot of things that happened to him that I didn’t necessarily think fit with the overall story.

I am absolutely still looking forward to book 3 in the series and are very excited to get back to Cair and Luca! If you enjoyed their story and like a grumpy/sunshine, one night stand only except for you kind of relationship then I still say it’s worth checking this story out.

Tee's mom is a B.A.M.F. to have tricked a fae king.

Besides it took ma a while to finish this one. Having a narcissistic for a mother. Her holding political power. Her viewing you as a resource. Kind of hit too close to home. Being that children didn't ask to be here. Yet not only having to survive societal constructs of behavior. But not being truly seen, by the people that are suppose to care. Makes me sad.

Teighan and Alex were exactly how I imagined them in book 1, one thing is sure that book was really good.

Since the beginning Alex can see and feel the Fae watching him outside his studio, I love how carefree Alex sounds like even if deep down he has many traumas he has to cope with. Teighan has also his own fear, after being rejected and abused by his father, he has found freedom after crossing the Veil, his view of humans has already been affected by Luka but it’s only while starting to know Alex that he understands how different he is from what he thought but also is perfect for him.

Be ready for some steam, kinks and some grumpy Fae who does know how to handle his human !

Teighan is the second book in Eryn Hawk's Veiled City series. Although each book focuses on its own couple and their happily ever after, certain background elements and overarching plotlines will be resolved as the series progresses. Here's what you can expect from Alex and Teighan:

🖤 MM paranormal romance
🖤 First person dual point of view
🖤 Guaranteed happily ever after
🖤 Fae/Human
🖤 Size difference
🖤 Fated mates (supernatural mating bond)
🖤 Grumpy/sunshine
🖤 Forced proximity
🖤 Low angst
🖤 Touch him and die
🖤 Horns, fangs, and wings
🖤 Dom/sub undertones, mild Daddy kink (used sparsely in both teasing and sexual scenarios)
🖤 Snowballing, humiliation, degradation, hate sex, belly bulging, scent marking, praise kink
🖤 Tattoos, genital piercing
🖤 Possessiveness and jealousy

As always, ensure you review the content and trigger warnings to decide if this book is right for you. Note that this list of warnings and triggers may be incomplete. Please take care of yourself while reading.

I had to dive into this book right after I finished Cair because I really loved Alex and Teighan as side characters. Grumpy/sunshine is definitely one of my favourite tropes and I thought Teighan was a perfect execution of it! As the trope usually goes, we learn there's a reason for Teighan's immense surliness, and that Alex is hiding behind a mask of loneliness and using sex as a coping mechanism. I thought the build-up between the two characters was done really well, and that Teighan showing Alex his soft underbelly was timed well. The spice between these two was phenomenal. I thought each of their encounters well-represented the changing dynamics of their relationship, and the hate sex and other kinks they engaged in fit their situation perfectly.

I enjoyed that this different from Cair in the way the supernatural mating bond presented itself. In that book, Cair knew immediately but Teighan was so frustrated and completely misunderstood who Alex was so the bond wasn't as immediately clear. It gave us more insight to the Fae species and world-building as the series progresses. Even though there are quite a few trigger warnings, I still found this story low-angst and there were certainly many laugh out loud moments because Alex is ridiculous (in the best way possible) and Teighan's grumpiness, although immensely frustrating at times, was ultimately endearing. I enjoyed seeing him go into possessive protector mode even when he was so sure he hated Alex with his entire being.

This book is once again perfect if you're looking to dip your toe into the supernatural world, and I think fans of the grumpy/sunshine trope will really appreciate it's execution here!

So much to say and limited space. The essentials: Teighan is a good story, but not a great story.
A couple of warnings - if improper word usage drives you nuts, avoid this author. They also, do not think about triggers as this story needs to come with a trigger warning - humiliation is a kink and there is no shaming here, but it is also a trigger. It would have been nice to have a heads-up before I was triggered.
On the plus side -maybe - there is a ton of internal dialog, but I enjoy that as long as it is not circular. It can add a lot to the depth of the characters. Characters are decently developed while the world-building is basic but there is enough so that the reader does not founder. The storyline was solid, but not developed properly and comes with weird inserts. Really, there could have been a lot more tension built with Alex's mom or Teighan's father - but that was just left to hang.
As for the weird insert (now, I am going to do this in a way that will not be a spoiler, but once you hit that part of the story you will recognize it) Okay - Mathew - did not see him coming BUT - I am not sure why he was there. Just a weird waste of words. Even the author knew this as he had Alex state "What’s a kidnapping without the draaama? A waste of everyone’s time, that’s what.” Why? There was no point.
As for improper use of words - sheesh I have to say this -- blame the English teacher in me. Eryn Hawk -- You destroyed the imagery you were going for when you wrote, "three fingers now thrusting glacially in and out of his body." The connotations associated with glacially are cold, frozen, and grindingly slow. The phrase just does not build the image I imagine you wanted of scorching heat and a slow, deliberate motion.
So - much like the Cair, a good story, but not great.

The minute Teighan was introduced in the first book, I just knew I would love his broody a$$. Match him with Alex, who has a bright and laud personality plus the ability to press Tee's buttons to the point of exploding, and we have perfect grumpy/sunshine (or rather sunbeam) trope!

These two are so good together and and the chemistry, the "I hate you but I want you" energy, was only feeding my excitement about their story. This is a slow burn, so have thst in mind before you start.

Tee made a strong opinion about Alex as a person, and his stubbornness didn't let him see the human in a different light. It will take some time for our fae to open his eyes and realise how wrong he was with his original judgment. It will turn out they have more in common than they thought. There is a deeper reason for the way Alex behaves. I really didn't realise how much I will adore him. We get to know him as Luca's over the top friend, but there is so much more to him. His love for art and passion for helping others in his studio, the struggle due to his family situation. I was so angry with Tee during one of their arguments! But I assure you he made it up for everything he has done and said in my eyes. Once he stopped pushing Alex away, everything felt into the right place. Teighan was able to show Alex what it means to be cared for and how to be loved and cherished! I never thought of Tee as a romantic type, and yet he proved me wrong.

If you haven't gathered already, I just want to confirm that I really enjoyed this book 🙂 the cheeky banter and sexy screens balance the story perfectly. I'm already excited about what's to come in book 3. We had little hints and clues mentioned aboit Luca's father. Can't wait to go to the next adventure!

Well, I have a new favorite story from this author, and a great new recommendation for the grumpy/sunshine trope!

Look, if these tropes are your jam:
Grumpy/Sunshine
Size difference
UST-filled banter
Super light daddy kink
Fun with horns and piercings
Fated mates but work to get there
Found family (a continuation too with the couple from the first book)

Then you gotta read this book! While I kinda think you could jump into this one, I do recommending reading Cair first. (Plus, the next book in the series will be about Luca and Cair again so you should read that one anyway!)

Teighan is the definition of grumpy - the man is just a major grump. But he has his reasons. And Alex is sunshine and fun - but definitely has plenty of layers of his own underneath that sunshiney demeanor. These two had crazy good chemistry together, and a lot of heat together. There was some initial push/pull but it was written really well and not in a way that was too over the top or overdramatic for me!

Once they realize that more is there than just hate - and that both of them have misjudged the other so badly (especially Teighan) these two are just fire together. I absolutely loved them falling for each other. It has those vibes of he falls first but the other falls harder. Once Teighan is in, he's fully committed to Alex. Plenty of steam, romance, a bit of action, and sweetness at the end.

I love this group of family of fae and humans. I wouldn't mind some of the other characters getting stories, and I'm so excited to get more in this universe.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
