Vernon Douglas is a seventeen year old student at a magic and runic high school on the planet Eden. There has always been a part of him that believed he was destined for greatness, but doubt clouds his mind. He dreams of becoming a Paladin, a symbol for the best of the best in his society, but they don't take people like him in very often. He is a rune user, only being able to use magic by pouring his mana through an object emblazoned with a symbol. This limits what magic he can use.
His best friend comes to him with a solution, a newly made available sport called mixed magical arts. It's a sport to test the limits of magical and physical ability. His high school is holding tryouts for the team. Getting onto the team is the key to help him prove he's worthy. To not just himself but to everyone else. His only question is are his abilities enough?
Will Vernon have what it takes to get through the tournaments?
Are his dreams of joining the Paladin's out of his reach?

A: It's a coming of age tale that blends science fiction type technology and fantasy style magic together in a way that I have always wanted to read. Vernon (the main character) thinks he knows what he wants, and tries to go for it in the best way that he knows how. Which gets him into trouble more than he would like. The story itself takes place on a far off planet after humans have long left Earth.
Q: What order should I read the books in?
A: The Zero Class, Shadow Moon, then Dragon Fire. There are more books coming, but their titles haven't been announced just yet.
Q: Why should readers give this series a shot?
A: It's an action packed ride that will keep the pages turning. There's fighting, spell casting, and some mystery thrown in for good measure. If you like Science Fiction, Fantasy or Urban Fantasy, you'll love the books and story within.

My whole life I had a large imagination. When I played, with my Legos or running around outside with my friends, it wasn't just playing, I was in a different place or another world. I would dream up stories and settings, where I would normally be the lead, or at least be looking through their eyes.
Playing video games, mostly text based role playing games, was and in most cases still is a normalcy for the escape into some uncharted and untold world where adventure awaited, which fuels my own creations.

Interesting YA read...cool premise, good world building, believable characters, plenty of action and excitement...This book has a lot of potential but really needs to be edited...it was difficult to get into the story at times b/c of all the errors...it is pretty obvious that The Zero Class is a self published book since it lacks the editing and polish that major publishers are able to provide for their writers...
still a pretty good read (could be great with a little more work), and I will be continuing with the series...

Has a good story line and I enjoyed the twist of magic and technology together, along with the idea of the human race on a different planet. I enjoyed each of the different characters especially Emma, even thou she only had a small part. Wish there was a bit more information about how Magic came about with the human's who landed on the new planet, Eden.
I caught myself sometimes wondering about certain words, definitely needs someone to edit the work. At times it did get a bit hard to get into the book, due to over describing certain areas, however, I would like to read the next book to find out what happens.

I won this novel in a goodreads drawing.
In a thousand years or so, much of humanity lives on Eden, a world where magic exists.
A kid is a senior in high school when the society makes magic fighting an official sport. He joins up, hoping to join the Paladins, an elite fighting unit.
Pretty good stuff really, but this book needs some major editing. There are a great many mistakes throughout the work.

Good seed, but needs a LOT of work
Man, this book has a really good concept, but the execution is terrible. It REALLY needs to be gone over by a good editor. Hell, even a mediocre editor would be nice. Typos, misspellings, wrong words, repetitive, and needs a good fat trimming. I would like to re-read this some time in the future after its been fixed. It's a really cool idea mixing the tech and magic but it's just hard to wade through.

I won a copy of this book through a Goodreads Firstreads giveaway. I was really excited by the idea of this book. I think the overall concept is interesting, but the writing is very poorly executed. There are so many errors which make it confusing and hard to read. The flow is also very choppy. I would love to try again if there is ever a revised version.

Good story, horrific writing
If you can get past the misspellings, the use of homophones in place of the correct words, random commas, sentence fragments, and the constant changing of tenses there is the base of a good story here.

An interesting twist on the traditional ya urban fantasy. I really enjoyed the interplay between magic and technology. I'm looking forward to the next book

Reason
Skipping made it slightly difficult to understand but otherwise would have been a solid with more elaboration on the story and not the action scenes alone.

Seriously awesome!! I couldn't put it down and was completely enthralled from page one. When can I get the next one? is all I can say.
