Unconventional Proposal

Rate this book
Kelechi Abbey-Chikelu has only 67 days left to find a wife or lose 35% shares of his family's company.

Samantha Aigbohan has no intention of marrying any man for his wealth, his good looks, or his desperation to regain full control of a multimillion naira company.

He wants only her, and won't take no for an answer.

She won't say yes just because that's what he wants to hear.

Attraction flares. Passion sizzles. And love seems inevitable.

I read this a few years ago and enjoyed it. So glad I can finally review it on Goodreads!
A sweet African romance novel. With the relationship of convenience trope

I really enjoyed this book, the banter and the slow burn romance. Supporting characters were also really great.

A little quirk of this author is the way the characters seemed to think alike (not in reasoning, but the choice of particular words), it read a lot like a historical in certain aspects, especially with the use of “for” and “as”. Most characters from her other books also speak this way, just a little thing to note

REVIEW
First of all, the cover! It's very beautiful and it's actually one of the reasons I picked it. And, it lived up to the beauty of its cover. First of all, I was really annoyed at the MMC, Kelechi's arrogance. I've never read about a more arrogant character in my life! The saving grace here is that kther characters mentioned it, and he did get slightly better close to the ending of the book.

Our FMC, Samantha, is also the first skinny character I'll read about whose body was described to a tee, and I appreciated it. I know skinny characters are represented, but not as much as this, and I liked it! I also like that she's smart, strong, independent, and knows how to say 'no'. She needed that. I really liked Samantha. She was an amazing character, and she made up for all of Kelechi's faults.

And, I liked the author's different approach to a marriage of convenience. I thought it would be a slam dunk, man proposes, girl agrees to a contract marriage. But, I was wrong and I liked it! I liked that Kelechi actually had to grovel before Samantha accepted him. I liked that he was humbled and that he actually courted and wooed Samantha.

I liked this book, the pace, storyline, and some characters. But, I didn't like the cliche of Kelechi being a playboy whose relationships never lasted because he didn't want any attachment and Samantha being the only woman that ever said no to him. I didn't really like that.

All things said, this was a very good book, and I would definitely read more by the author.

Okay, so when I started this book, I was expecting the typical marriage of convenience novel. He proposes, they get married and fall in love whilst married.

Nothing prepared me for this slow-burn, chase-filled novel. It was a refreshing take on the marriage of convenience trope. And that endeared me to the novel.

That and the witty banter between Kelechi and Samantha. Might I add I loved how Kelechi intervened in Samantha's work drama. It's the stuff my dreams are made of.

I loved how Kelechi fell in love first without even realizing it. Though I knew that Papa's maxim that Imeh said was like some form of foreshadowing. And the curve ball at the end was just so tantalizing.

Anyway, this was a beautiful read. I'm not a fan of slow-burn romances, but I loved this.

This is the part where I grovel and beg that Imeh and Tobe should have their own books. PLLLLLEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I want to see Tobe in love. Everything about this book was refreshing. Though I did have a bit of a problem with how most of the characters spoke (my personal opinion) but it was an overall enjoyable read.

So if you love

You'll definitely love Unconditional Proposal.
