Neetika Maheshwari Kasat's "5000 Years Back: A Timeless Conversation" is an honest attempt by the author. I agree with the author that nowadays kids don't find it interesting to learn about the Mahabharata.

It was fascinating to read how the author created a story with five brothers (representing Pandavas) and Kris (Krishna). The characters are well-developed by the author, and the author successfully discusses various incidents and characters of the Mahabharata, effectively reaching the readers.

It's a journey that encourages self-reflection. The relatable settings and dialogues resonate well with today's youth, making the wisdom of the ages more approachable.

The incorporation of ancient wisdom into present-day dilemmas with unexpected twists and turns in the narrative create a compelling journey, prompting readers to reflect on how timeless principles can resonate with and guide us through contemporary challenges.

In my opinion, this journey through ancient times has been both educational and enjoyable, leaving me with a newfound appreciation for the timeless wisdom embedded in the Mahabharata. I appreciate the author's storytelling, how the author nudges us to explore this epic in a totally different way.

Here the author wish to profess her ideas and ideologies by using a simple story. The story has a conventional morality and plot-the victory or triumph of good over evil.Whatever be the case, however harsh be the situation, the goodness or virtue shall rise above everything else.Author emphasises this through the story of Aarj and his brother. He and his five brothers faces deception and treachery from their own cousins as they own their wealth.Inorder to fight for their rights Aarj fights as a boxer against Duro-their opponent cousin.
The story goes with simple narration till the middle and takes a different turn afterwards. The whole aphorisms or analogies on cosmic existence and the origin of universe comes to discussion here. The low spirited Aarj is motivated and cheered by his mentor Kris by enumerating all these notions. It is firmly rooted in Indian Mythology and astrology and believes that Karma shall be rewarded ideally.Upon knowing that Aarj is weak willed and faint hearted, he delivers the idealogy of 5000 years back.Kris says that what matters most is committing to our obligations, without looking for the fruits of our deeds. 120 million years ago the whole universe came into existence and ever since things have been the same though with superficial changes. Many things might have changed but the core values and ways have always remained the same.He also mentions the importance of gaining wisdom and acquiring a Yogi life. A yogi can control all his emotions and desires as well as stay calm in all situations. Therefore one has improve into such level to face all the hardships and setbacks of life. Finally after many speeches on Sanatana dharma, morality and wisdom Aarj wons the battle. He defeats Duno with a high margin and ensures that he gets his rightful property. All these accomplishments require rigorous training of mind and discipline. In a way it becomes a mode of defeating our inner demon with good spirit. The author wishes to decipher this idea into us readers by making us know that we too can follow the same footsteps.

Neetika Maheshwari Kasat’s 5000 Years Back is a beautiful, fantastic, and light novel with great themes for today’s young population. Although the plot is based on the epic Mahabharata, the narration is modern. Actually, with its well-known characters, this book is a fresh take on the Mahabharata. Aarj and Duro, the main characters, are none other than Arjun and Duroyudhan from the Mahabharata.Their antagonism remains the same, based on lies about wealth, superiority, and bigotry. Duro and the party ignore Yudi and his four brothers. All that the Yudi group receives is poverty and suffering. Uncle Kris, a well-known manifestation of Lord Krishna from the Mahabharata, promises to support the Yudi gang. Hurt, Aarj swears to get revenge on Duro as soon as possible.Aarj is puzzled and unwilling to murder or beat anyone as he prepares to enter the ring. He has no desire for wealth or dominance over others. He wants to live a modest life. When Arjun is down about heading to the war, Uncle Kris begins his primary work, just like Lord Krishna did in the Mahabharata.

The remaining eighteen episodes of the book are set in a timeless, classic dialogue. This is comparable to the moral aspect. Kris guides Aarj through the vast sea of information and insight that can elevate anyone. Although it was a little repetitive and hefty, I liked the preaching. It dealt with the dawn of knowledge, which occurred about 120 billion years ago but only gained prominence 5,000 years ago.
Overall a stunning book 🤍🫂A must read edition!

सुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ।
ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि।।

The tale unfolds through eighteen chapters taking you on an exciting journey of learning about different characters of Mahabharata with discussion points and illustrations.
Through this book, the author has attempted to translate Krishna’s teachings into a light teenage conversational book.
This book teaches us-
1.) How important it is to spend energy only on fruitful activities. Energy and time are limited—one can spend time in anger, cribbing, and complaining, or one can understand, ignore and keep working on the goals while being more conscious and aware.
2.) Do not give up on your dreams easily. Get up and fight.
3.) We should not work for what we desire; it just says we should work hard and accept the outcome wholeheartedly.
“You must perform your duty, not a right to have your desired fruits of action.”
4.)Anger and greed lead to a lot of devastation. One should stay calm in every situation and then handle it.

My Viewpoint on this book -
I appreciate the author's intention behind writing this book but being a mythology lover I disliked one thing about this book that is on many instances the author has changed even the facts of the original Mahabharta even the storylines.
Moreover it's a moderate book and good to gift to teenagers. Meanwhile I liked author's intention behind writing this book.

"Destiny can be changed by the right attitude, hard work, and prayers."

5 brothers on the journey of achievement with a different mindset and caliber.  The only thing missing was the mentor who could make a way for them. And Kris came in as a hope for them.

The story is based on the ideology of the Bhagavad Gita supreme and meaningful. What made me connect to it more was the bond between Kris and Aarj. It depicted the episode from The Greatest War Mahabharata where Shri Krishna became saarthi for Arjun and led his way towards winning. Kris became a pillar of support for Aarj to achieve his goal and success.

Author Neetika Kasat has come up with this beautiful concept of inculcating the values and teaching of the Bhagavad Gita into today's generation in the form of a conversation between two best friends.
From pictures to conversation, it's a great transition. I loved the concept and utilization. The entire truth of the universe is summarized in these short stories.

This book could be enjoyed by people of any age group. I enjoyed it thoroughly 👍🏻

5000 Years Back, an incredible thought of the author to pen one such a read that would try to bring into light the beauty and intensity of the Bhagwad Gita.

Over time, we all have seen the recent generation distancing itself from the religious aspect and knowledge and often try to cater more importance to things that are temporary.

The efforts of the author to pen a read that would give immense knowledge and a better insight on life, will leave you amazed by the beauty with which the book had been delivered. A perfect read to understand the messages of the Gita and implement the same in the real world.

This one will help you understand the widespread influence of Bhagwad Gita which is diminishing in the present time.
The book with its impactful narrative and expression aims to suffice the purpose of highlighting the importance of life and how one can diversify it for the better.

The language and the writing style of the book made it a worthy purchase and I would recommend this read to all those who need to give a second thought to their actions taken and decisions maken.

A great read delivered in the most soothing manner. The characters of the read are kept simple enough for one to connect with.
