Anastasia has hit rock bottom; she is flat broke, and her lights just got cut off. Just when she's about to give up, a mysterious client offers her a lifeline – a photoshoot deep in the woods.
Excited to finally have a lead, she rushes out and gets caught in a violent rainstorm. Anastasia's car gets stuck, and her situation seems helpless until a grumbly stranger finds her and offers refuge for the night. Sparks fly between the two of them, and Anastasia soon discovers that the handsome stranger is more than human.
This book has promise, but it was not delivered. This is the first time I have read this author. I think I bought a 3 book series; Anastasia (Jess?) is a photographer who is in need of clients and business. She receives an opportunity to do a photo shoot but gets called in a hail storm where she meets Ray (Chuck), and their romance continues. The characters are flat; Ray/Chuck description is that he is tall and has dreds. Anastasia/Jess is a heavier woman. There does not appear to be any chemistry between the two, and Anastasia/Jess appears to be immature and not that smart. For example her camera and its part are left in her broken down vehicle... Why would you leave your livelihood in said vehicle when it is raining with hail? The characters name changes in the middle of the book which caused confusion and the 2 names for the characters. I was left with more questions than answers. I will read her other 2 books in this series, because again, the potential is great and I hope it is realized in the rest of the series.
pretty bad. it so badly needs editing. MFC is introduced asJess and then suddenly her name is Anastasia. MMC is introduced as Ray but then is also called Chuck at the end of the book. i don’t think the author even read the work after she wrote it. thankful i didn’t pay for this.
I got an ad for this and thought I’d give it a try. I liked the premise, but felt it was just TOO fast paced, even for a novella. There were some jumps that felt inauthentic. That said, the concept peaked my interest. I might be a paranormal romance girl.
Not sure I can even count this toward my goal. I read it in under an hour. I can’t even call this a short story. This was a passing thought. But it entertained me, so I guess that’s all that matters.
Content Warnings: sexual content, blood, violence, murder, and sexual assault.
This book had so much potential...the first few chapters had me so invested and then all of a sudden it was like the book was on superspeed.
I really wish, instead of a short novella, this book had been given more time and made a full length novel.
Like I said, the first few chapters were awesome, I was invested in the story and loving the leading lady...then pretty much as soon as the spice happened...all of a sudden it was like the author was in a hurry to finish the story...and elements that should have been stretched out were hitting at hyper speed.
If you’re looking for something to cleanse your palate, this is a good choice for you.
If you’re looking for a quick read to help with your reading goals, this is a good choice for you.
It’s paced exactly as you would expect for a book that’s less than 50 pages; quick and fast paced.
I gave it a 3 because there were some discrepancies with the names of the characters and it was really jarring. I’m not a fan of books where the plus size fmc makes self deprecating jokes about herself and her weight and that happens in this book and it contributed to the rating.
I love shifter romances and enjoy seeing representation of a WOC that's was a bigger woman. Well, at least that's how the cover depicts Anastasia. I definitely wanted more of that representation in the actual story. It was definitely an insta-love, which I didn't mind because shifters move fast. I just needed more chemistry or something. The chase scene was everything.
Awwww I m so in ❤️ love with this short romance story I normally don't did paranormal but the way they were so in love and how he protected ❤️ her and he definitely was book bae adventure ❤️ love family and the little cubs they took care of and I like the way they both learned about how the new culture of influensors can be beneficial in a good way about wild life...loved it
After reading this short story by Ms Lynch, I can say the author has potential. The storyline was good. It just needed to be developed more. Even as a short story, there was room for more details to beef up the plot. She also needs a new editor. There were some errors that would confuse a reader and could turn them off from reading other work from the author.
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it from open to need a sweet shot story and straight to the point of the store line with love in it . Being a shifter and finding love Anastasia car broke down stuck in the mud in the right place and yes Ray was in the right place to help her. Ray and Anastasia story stayed on point the out the whole short story
Short sweet and spicy shifter novella featuring a a plus size POC FMC? Yeah sign me up!!! I really enjoyed this book, knocked it out in about 25 minutes and I really liked how it was paced, no huge jumps, forced proximity but still very cute. There were one or two typos and one page where the MMC’s name randomly changed from Ray to Chuck???? And then the FMC is Jess then Anastasia ??? Pick a name !!!
I chose this book on a whim needing something quick to read. I love the premise and the story moves at a good clip. My only negative about the story is it could have used some proof reading to correct small errors like the names, but other than that I would recommend if you need a palate cleanser.
I'm very disappointed that I had to pay more than .99 for a "book", that is only 46 pages. That's not a book it's an essay. Even though she introduced herself as Jess and he called her Anastasia. How did he know her name? She knew him for a few minutes and did notnas his last name, if he had a disease or protection before they fell in bed together. Wow!!!
This is a shorter then short story and honestly not worth the read. I read it in less than 30 minutes but I am an avid reader. The description tells you everything literally, it’s the book just without the mention of a couple of random fights that made no sense. Good plot just not worth the read.
It was OK. I wonder if this was one of her first tries at writing. There was a lot left out (my feelings) of the story. More development and story line was needed. I read the book in under an hour. I'll give her a couple more tries and I hope she develops the stories better. I see you have quite a few books already. I'll pick one of the newer ones to see her progress.
I liked it for the most part. Decent short story. But there were two instances where the wrong name was said…so it had me a little confused for a sec. I feel like something was missing. But overall it was okay. I probably won’t be reading the rest of the series though.
I enjoyed this enough to wish there was more. This would make a great novella with some scenes filling in some of the background and time jumps. I liked Jess’s character and was rooting for her. I would have like to learn more about Ray and his family. Still, I look forward to reading more by this author
I feel like this a Lil scam. Write a short book and reel us in then it's OVER. I read this in like 27 minutes. I feel like it just could've been longer. Could've gone more into detail about how they became shifters. More on Ray's challengers. Idk just MORE!
As always, thanks for writing this. Be looking for more books written by the author.
2.5 stars for this one. This book needs editing assistance. The premise is good. However, halfway through, the names changed and the story was disjointed.
The spicy scene was disjointed as well. The addition of the almost SA was unneeded in my opinion. I guess that is how/where the author was revealing that the MMC was a shifter.
The story is quick and cute, but there’s misspellings and the mmc name changes in the middle of the story from Ray to Chuck. I get it being a short story but this could’ve used a few more pages to explain things and mainly an explanation about the client would be helpful.
Jess or Anatastasia? This was a quick read but it gave me the impression of having been written for another genre and replace/find editted for another.
I enjoyed this sweet short novella, it was filled with family, loyalty, romance and love💖. This was the first time reading material from this author. I will be reading more.
What a cute romantic read. And the unexpected way she found he was a shifter. He saved her several times as she was falling for him. How romantic for him to chase her in bear form! Together they get their HEA.
I enjoyed the premise of the story. It was a sweet HEA to read through on a Sunday afternoon. However, there were some continuity issues with names and grammatical errors that need to be corrected.
As far as a quickie goes, this is one of the better ones. It’s short, sweet and to the point. A lot of things happen pretty fast, but that’s to be expected with the amount of pages that she had to work with. I’ll definitely be reading another.
A very quick read. Predictable and Cliche but Cute. No complaints but not significantly memorable either. Equivalent to feelings of watching a Hallmark Christmas movies.
Needs some editing, character names changed a couple times. Story seems rushed and like it's unfinished. I also, prefer it when the animal half ca communicate with its human half. Overall, I still liked it, I will be reading the next books in the series.
Sweet quick read. It was a nice twist on shifters. I Ray was cool and protective. Anatashia was trying to make it in the world of photography. He happened along when she needed help.
