I barely survived my career in the music industry—now I write about it. These days, I live in the Pacific Northwest, spinning contemporary romances inspired by everything I swore I’d never talk about again. Any resemblance to real people, places, or events? Total coincidence. Obviously.

Tyler Robertson is a music manager trying to discover new talent and expand her career. Her life is always busy and although she has her loyal dog, she can't deny that when rock star Cary Kingston comes back into her life that she is attracted to him. She has a rule though, no dating musicians.

Cary has a huge crush on Tyler and does his best to ask her out, it is awkward though and he can't get a real read on her. Can Cary break through Tyler's defenses and prove he is worth the chance?

This was a fun read. Had a ton of characters and I thought Tyler was a woman who knew what she wanted career wise and was confident, but with relationships had a vulnerability which I enjoyed reading about. Would check out more books from this author.

Hunter Snow's debut novel ROCK CRUSH AND ROLL is a fabulous read. This book has everything you could hope for in women's fiction.

What do I mean by that? Well, here is just a small taste of what readers can expect:

* A kick-ass female lead character who is flawed just as much as the rest of us, but despite her flaws, readers will fall for Tyler Robertson and will hope for the best for her

* A sexy rock star

* A cast of characters who are relatable

* An amazing, loyal, and protective family

* A feminist lens

* A world that very few people have penetrated ... the music industry

* And so much more ...

When a book can take you out of your daily life and transport you into the life of the protagonist, it is the most delicious form of escapism available. This book does exactly that.

I generally do not read a lot of romance-type books, but if I could find more novels that were even half as entertaining and engrossing as ROCK CRUSH AND ROLL this genre might just become my new favorite.

Hunter Snow is at the start of a promising future as a celebrated author. I am looking forward to reading her next book.

ROCK CRUSH AND ROLL is definitely a book worthy of the highest rating I can give:
5 out of 5 Stars  ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

"Hunter Snow's debut novel is a beautiful Canadian love story that readers will easily relate to." ~nerdywordyreviews

Tyler Robertson has worked in Vancouver in the music industry for years. She knows all too well what dating a musician is like, and she swears to never do it again. Cary Kingston is a world renowned, popular rock star bachelor who will never settle down. In her youth, Tyler used to crush on Cary until the facts of rock star lives revealed itself to her in her job. Being walked all over by her boss and her ex musician boyfriend, she refuses to let anyone in. Let alone the biggest rock star in the world. However, Cary sees differently and knows what he wants and won't stop until he can prove otherwise.

Author Hunter Snow wrote an amazing love story. It is a slow burn, well-explored story. It showcases the difficulties of a relationship. The insecurities and fears, high emotions and needs. Furthermore, it draws attention to the positive moments of a relationship, emphasizing the desires, wants, and love that is deserved and should be given. The story also had a focus on being hurt in the past and overcoming that fear, being able to move forward in a new relationship. It also covers long-distance relationships and the toll and stresses that can have.
Rock Crush and Roll had a lot of musical references within the story, which had me singing songs aloud. The emotions conveyed by the songs help the reader understand as the story moved forward.
The novel is based in Canada with a lot of Canadian geographical references and language.
There are some spicy scenes within the novel, however it is mainly plot focused which keeps the reader immersed and wanting more.
Well written. A very enjoyable and relatable story. With the exception of dating a rock star. I can not see what Hunter Snow plans to write next.

This book is not for me. There were too many Canadian geography and music references that I just didn't understand. I'm sure to others they will be amazing but to me it become a nuisance and I wondered when it would stop...spoiler they don't. POV felt odd the entire way. It was set up like a dual perspective but told from the third person. These issues cause me not to be fully immersed in the story. The plot, in general, was enjoyable though a tad repetitive on the FMCs side of things, and a few saying here and there gave me the ick. I'm hoping this book finds those individuals who love it, but sadly, that was not me.

1.75/5 stars, won this book as an ARC on Goodreads!

I was excited at the premise of this book, and was a little confused at the start due to all the Canadian references. Continued to struggle as the cultural/geographical Canadian references really prevailed throughout the book….so maybe someone more immersed in Canadian culture would appreciate it more than I did.

I did enjoy that the main characters knew each other for a long time before they had a relationship. I wanted to like Tyler and in some ways I did, but I found that the story really lagged in her character development. She was so indecisive and dragged her feet at every turn but at the same time wanted a baby NOW. It just didn’t add up for me.

Cary was fine. Nothing jumped out at me honestly.

The writing itself was okay, I felt like it was a bit short and could have used more background to fill in the story, set the scene a bit more. Maybe stilted is the word I’m looking for?

Overall, this wasn’t a bad debut novel, but this book wasn’t as enjoyable for me.

"Rock, Crush, and Roll," Hunter Snow’s first novel, is a captivating read that has everything a reader could want. Tyler has made a vow to not dating musicians she knows what they are like. However, when she meets Cary Kingston, a popular rock star known for his avoidance of relationships, old feelings resurface. Despite her determination to keep her distance, Cary is persistent and refuses to give up easily, determined to prove himself otherwise.
The novel also delves into past hurts and fears, allowing the characters to move forward in new relationships. While there are some steamy scenes in the novel, the story remains mainly plot-focused, keeping the reader engaged and eager for more. Overall, it is a well-written, enjoyable, and relatable story. I am looking forward to Hunter Snow's next book, as this one provided a great escape for some "me time" and fully immersed me in the musical world.

Full disclosure this was a Goodreads win and I’m so glad it was. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Would have read it much quicker but life got in the way. Perfect romance story with the characters in the music business. My personal favorite was the mention of Stevie Ray Vaughan whom I am a huge fan of. Would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and the music industry.

If you like romance with a little spice, this is for you. If you like lots of 70s and 80s music references, this is for you. If you like Canada, hockey, dog lovers, strong women, and trashy men getting what's coming to them, this is for you.

Very fun, very cute.

Despite swearing off dating musicians, Tyler Robertson has a weakness for them. Working as a music manager does little to help her cause, especially since she’s been seeing more of singer-songwriter Cary Kingston, the industry’s most eligible bachelor. But Cary is ridiculously famous and linked to countless models and actresses, women Tyler could never compete with. Plus, he is her company’s biggest client; her boss, Sebastien, would have a fit if they dated. Still, Tyler can’t seem to shake the romantic feelings she’s developing for Cary or ignore how her body responds when he is near. Is she just working herself into a frenzy that will end in heartbreak?

It’s true Cary Kingston can have any woman he wants. But he’s never been as smitten with anyone as with Tyler. She’s amazingly cool, loves music as much as he does, and she’s beautiful in an effortless way—a stark change from the women he’s used to dating. But she also makes him incredibly insecure. Is she into him or not? Because he’s getting so many mixed signals.

Will these two embrace their intense connection, or are they too stubborn to make it work?

“Rock Crush and Roll” by Hunter Snow is a sizzling contemporary romance with an intriguing premise and plenty of swoon-worthy moments. There’s no denying the sparks or the palpable chemistry between Tyler and Cary, but can the feelings survive Cary’s tours and his hungry fans? Tyler’s past with musicians has always ended the same way—with her feeling used and betrayed, and she wonders how things will be any different with Cary Kingston.

Beyond the intensity of attraction building between the characters, Hunter Snow effortlessly weaves alternating perspectives, allowing readers to connect with Tyler and Cary alike. We witness Tyler’s internal struggle between wanting to trust Cary and being wary of his intentions. Cary has to come to terms with Tyler’s aversion to the rockstar life and her need for privacy, as well as knowing when to tone down the rockstar persona and be a good boyfriend.

There were so many things to love about this novel! As a fellow Canadian-born rock enthusiast, the music and hockey references allowed me to be easily transported into Tyler’s world. Moreover, Tyler’s job highlights the good, the bad, and the ugly of what happens behind the scenes in the music industry, including managing bratty musicians, a rude, abrasive boss, and so much more. If you’re into music, you don’t want to miss out on this.

If you love chick lit and have a weakness for steamy romances starring gorgeous rock stars, Hunter Snow’s “Rock Crush and Roll” is for you. The author deftly highlights the challenges and the euphoria of dating a famous singer/songwriter, leaving the reader devouring the book page by page, dying to know if it’s all too good to be true or if Tyler and Cary will get their happy ending. I haven’t had this much fun reading in a while. Five shining stars!

Book Review
Rock Crush and Roll by Hunter Snow

What its Got
- musicians
- Canadian content
- Hockey
- References to music/artisits/songs through the ages
- Dogs
- Family
- Women in business
- Sexism in the music industry
- Ticking biological clock

Characters
Rory- dog
Tyler- FMC, raised by a musical Legend, her ex was a musician, she works in the music industry, the one thing she doesn’t want is a relationship with a musician
Cary- MMC, musician, known as a player, his career is his life, he has actively pushed away family and friends and isolated himself for his career
Kim- Tour Manager, best friend of FMC
Vegas - Tour manager, best friend of MMC
Allie- colleague and friend in the business
Tommy- asshat 1
Sebastien- asshat 2

Thoughts
📕 I wanted Kim and Allie to have their own books, the epilogue felt rushed and I would have loved full blown stories for these friends
📕 interesting to read about inner workings of music management, Production etc
📕 the baby push had me expecting (pun intended) an accidental pregnancy but thankfully the author didnt go that route (personally not a fan of THAT trope)
📕 I need a playlist of all the songs references
📕 Love how Tyler, while not a musician, instantly thought of song references in context of what was happening in her life- we all connect music with memories- the author including this type of detail made her character more relatable and authentic

Overall
Loved reading this fun and flirty book from a new to me #indieauthor

I’m just “ rocking” this cover 🥰🤣and what’s in between them is even better 😉

I may have a little lost with the Canadian references but fear not google is your friend and now Canada is on my bucket list 😉🥰

Tyler works as a music manager and while she enjoys what she goes her boss Sebastian is a bit of a chop and I’d love to give him a clip around the ear 🤣 Cary Kingston is a delectable rockstar

Tyler had a crush on Cary about 15 years ago and she’s sworn off dating musicians thanks to Dave , who is a real waste of space , just for the record , anyhoo Cary has to spend time with Tyler and he’s more than a little interested and it’s got nothing to do with our canine cutie , Rory 🥰🐾 , he’s Tyler’s four legged bestie and doesn’t bark but I’m sure Rory won’t mind helping Cory in his quest to win Tyler over 🐾🥰😉 I think he enjoys being seen as Cary the man not the star everyone wants something whereas she’s just interested in the person 🥰

I loved the music references but I loved watching Tyler and Cary more , they rock in a harmonious way 🥰🙈🤣and I’ll babysit Rory anytime 🐾❣️

This was a fun story and I liked the music industry part of it too. Tyler Robertson is a music manager but is kind of stuck in her job since her boss hates her. She is trying to find new bands and make more for herself but is struggling without the support and the ability to sign girl bands. Cary Kingston is a rockstar who is the number one musician under Tyler’s company. He shows up to the office and they get to chatting. He has a crush on her but doesn’t know how to ask her out and she also has a crush but doesn’t believe he would ever like her back. Cary asks Tyler out to a wine bar but then mentions work so she isn’t sure what the deal is. As they get to know each other, Tyler has to decide if she is going to break her “no dating musicians” rule. Cary needs to figure out how to balance touring, writing music, and a relationship. This was a fun, he falls first, romance and I would definitely pick up another book by this author.

Reading this book was instantly engaging and relatable to the emotions of the characters. Even though I am not within the music industry in the way these characters are, it was so easy to transfix yourself as the reader to be engulfed into this world along with Tyler and Cary. Tyler is an overworked music manager who finally gains the attention of a long time, high school crush, Cary, who is a big time musician. Unfortunately being in this industry for so long and knowing the depths of how many of these musicians can be, she has sworn off from being romantically involved with musicians. But now that Cary has been connecting with her and feels connected to her, perhaps Tyler could be changing her mind to this notion. I love to see their connection grow as they work together and something more. I am also a sucker for those yearning for something they desire for so long and getting what they deserve.

Hunter Snow is a debut author with a background in the music industry that she shares in the writing of this romantic comedy.

This book is set in Canada so some of the geographical settings were unknown to me, as I'm not super familiar with the layout of that country(note...expand horizons!). I tried to not let that affect the story as I went along. One thing I know about Canada though is hockey, and this book had some of that! I also enjoyed the music references throughout the story. If you're a fan of 70's-80's styles of music, you'll enjoy the trip down memory lane!

Overall, a decent debut novel.

I enjoyed this story. Loved the characters (well besides Tyler's boss). Tyler has been involved in the music industry her whole life, but has been stuck at one job for many years with a crappy boss. He threatens to ruin her if she quits so she keeps chugging along til she can make a break. She is trying to get over a breakup and has sworn off dating musicians. But then her high-school crush comes back into her life and starts working with her. She doesn't want to be in the spotlight but he wants her to take a chance. Can they come to an agreement and act on their chemistry? I couldn't put this down, and would definitely read more from this author

Hunter Snow … Rock Crush and Roll

This is the best book I’ve read about the music industry. Lots of family and hockey with all the loyalty and passion they arouse. But with all the many positions required: agents, tour managers, press managers, financial managers, and the CEO’s and partnerships required to coordinate them all! Also interesting to me were the number of cities where the action took place: in Canada from Toronto to Vancouver, in the USA from LA and surrounding cities to Austin. The heart of the story was Winnipeg situated in the middle time zone of Canada as all the main characters originated there. Recommended!

Couldn't put it down! First thing, it takes place in Canada! And I'm a Canadian girl 🇨🇦 and love rock and roll and hockey! 2 things I love and know well.
Hunter was amazing at showing the character growth and development, making sure the story left no holes or questions left unanswered and giving us readers our Happy Ever After!!! This is the first book I have read of Hunter's and I really loved her writing style and short chapters (I didn't even realize how much I prefer short chapters until now). I plan to look into more of her books now.
Amazing! Definitely recommend

What a great read. Tyler is such a strong, feisty woman working in the music industry. This book was full of great characters, some that the reader will love and some that the reader will not. Following Tyler and Cary’s story is fun and engaging and takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions as they navigate a complicated journey. As a big music fan myself, I really appreciate the behind-the-scenes look into the music industry from a managing/touring aspect. I really enjoyed this fast-paced read.

Rock Crush and Roll by Hunter Snow

A great romance with a female lead who is a mess like the rest of us. Tyler has her own flaws and that will make you fall in love with her she isn’t perfect and doesn’t try to be. As she works to find talent she comes across Cary. She does her best to stay away but these two are great together. The story is full of fun characters who all bring a little something special to the story. If you love music, rock star, tension and a fun romance this is the read for you.

The dream life book! Cute happy ever after meets rock and roll!

Rock Crush and Roll.... Grab your favorite cozy blanket and snuggle buddy as you escape into your grownup version of your younger self daydream!

I was definitely in a book slump before picking up this book. I was scared to read and review some books in a timely manner due to my slump. This book broke it for me! I wish I would have picked it up a little sooner. I couldn't put it down once I started. Unfortunately family, sleep, the gym, or work wanted to keep getting in the way. Which was a total bummer otherwise I would have probably finished it in a day or two.

Rock Crush and Roll is a lighter side cute rock and roll romance. It's written very well. It keeps you definitely entertained. I love how the author, Hunter Snow really brought real life commentary and the music industry to life. You could easily slip into this world/ characters easily. Rock Crush and Roll is a different tone vs. other music industry books. Most books like this is more FMC falls for music artist and doesn't really dive into the true aspects behind the scenes, outside of fans and fame. I personally thoroughly enjoyed that she took this book in a different route. You can tell Hunter Snow knew well what she was writing about. I can't wait to read more books by her! Definitely add to your tbr!

Tyler is a music manager with dreams of going out on her own. After a very bad breakup, she’s sworn off dating, especially musicians. Cary is the biggest client at her firm and a massive rockstar. Working together, they cannot deny the attraction. Cary has an intense tour schedule and Tyler doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. Tyler needs to get over her last relationship to move forward and Cary wants to slow down to give it a chance
Very cute read

LOVED this Canadian Rom-com! Easily one of the best romance novels I have ever read! Sassy, romantic, sentimental, relatable, very Canadian and filled with so many witty music references. The story made me smile, laugh, kept me on the edge of my seat and was very heartfelt. Enjoyed a glimpse into the Canadian music industry as well.

An enjoyable and engaging romantic comedy which kept me happily turning the pages. Music manager Tyler Robertson has sworn off dating musicians, whilst Cary Kingston, the biggest rock star in the world is a confirmed bachelor. When their working relationship develops into something more, Tyler wonders if she’s falling for Cary the rock star or the person. This is a lighthearted and heartwarming romance between two likeable characters.

Got to read this thanks to Library Thing’s Early Reader group. Just the right amount of spice! Don’t listen to all the negative Nellie’s out there saying there is too much about Canada in the book. Those type of reviewers give the rest of us Americans a bad rap. Can’t wait to read another book by Hunter Snow ❄️
