Everly My life has never been easy, but when I go on the run and become homeless, I am determined that things are going to turn around. That changes when another predator finds me. Another man becomes obsessed and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.GioWhen I see my Angel, I know she belongs to me. She needs me as much as I need her and I will make sure no one ever hurts her again. No one will keep me away from her. I will do anything to have her and keep her, even if it ki!ls us both.
Dark mafia romance with lots of triggers and an unhinged morally gray alpha hero!
Look, I tried, okay? I really did 😭 I know this is fiction, and sometimes we have to suspend disbelief to enjoy the story. But I just can't deal with this guy, and I tried to lengthen my patience to get through this 26%.
I don't understand Gio's (34) obsession with Everly (20), or maybe I'm really not supposed to understand it and just go with the flow of the story. He saw her asking for a job in this bar when she ran away from home when her useless father beat her. For some reason, seeing all her bruises and frail body woke up this protectiveness out of Gio, and all of a sudden he decided she's his girl, and that's the end of it.
So he stalked her for a week, I think? She was staying in a dark alley for the time being, and he was leaving her breakfast every morning. Then, when three customers get rowdy and one of them groped Everly while serving their drinks, she got frozen on the spot and was about to have a panic attack. But Gio swooped in and took her away from these guys. She's vulnerable at this point; she had just been sexually harassed and was still getting her bearings, and then Gio, the psycho, drugged and kidnapped her because he had enough of not having her.
I know somnophilia was included in the TW list, but I didn't think it would be shown at this early point. He brought her to his house and while Everly remained unconscious, Gio undressed her and found a release while touching her. This was so freaking icky because, at this point, they had never had at least one conversation. He was stalking her, and sure, she saw him too in the bar, but think of him just as a regular customer. Gio's basically a stranger to Everly and nothing more. So to see him having his way with her while she was unconscious was just too uncomfortable to read. And to top it all off, he married her in that state. I mean, is that even allowed? Getting married to an unconscious person? Idk, and maybe again, since this is fiction, I just have to let it pass, and be fine with it.
Then I thought Everly would throw a hissy fit or would at least protest with everything that happened, but disappointingly, she didn't. She just accepted her new situation without much resistance. That's when I knew she would just be another one of those FMCs who never voiced their opinions and would allow the MMC to get away with things so easily.
So yeah, I'm going to stop here, as this is definitely not for me. I'm sure this would work for some readers.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: heroine in peril Angst: 😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gio's Possession is the debut novel in a new series by Indi Marie. It's the story of down on her luck Everly who gets swept off her feet by mob boss Gio. It definitely has some of the more popular tropes:
U know, the storyline isn’t bad, I get where the storyline is going. But the writing is just sloppy…. she needs more time to elevate her writing skills. Think about it like this, this would be me “tryna” write, think I can, but I actually cant.
The H acted like a spoiled little child rather than a 34yr old Mafia heir! I tried so hard. It’s just so poorly written. The characters are flat as pancakes, the story is preposterous, the actions of the characters lack authenticity and even the inner musings are flat. It’s just so bad. I wanted to like it.
it's been a while since I read a wattpad style book. Their relationship was extraordinarily forced that I just couldn't feel the chemistry between them whatsoever. Sure, he kidnaps her. But put a little more love and omph to it.
Just. No. OTT morally grey men are fun to read. But this guy was just too much.
The dialogue was cringey. “Screamed” was used constantly in weird situations.
His behavior wasn’t morally-grey-romantic. He was doing things without permission and didn’t listen to her requests. Didn’t allow her to sleep in a different bed to think after a big reveal. Started planning forced pregnancy options when she said she wanted time between babies and not just be used as an incubator. She didn’t want anal but he literally went for it anyway. Drugged her twice. Forced a tattoo on her. Forced a PREGNANCY on her. You get the idea.
The constant, annoyingly repetitive reassurance that his mob family respected women and only killed bad men was literally proven wrong constantly. Just a few examples: Drugging women, arranged marriage for sister, forced pregnancy including him confessing he was going to keep her an incubator at the end when she asked him not to. Murdering a gas station clerk because he made stink eyes at a homeless girl.
The bad guys were caricatures and unbelievable. Can we get some conflict that isn’t just attempted rape? The amount of times this girl had to fight off men was stupid. Also, the amount of concussions and knocks to the head were worrisome. Although, the brain damage would definitely explain many of her decisions.
Also, for being highly secured and in a big, bad, professional crime organization she sure was able to escape often.
Oh! The part where Carla stormed in and caused Everly to run - it was literally max five minutes that Everly was away from Gio. How was everly able to pack, escape, rob a guy, WALK to a bus stop, fall asleep, get kidnapped, get full dialogue with father and Oliver, then assaulted, then murder a guy, all before gio caught up with her - WITH A GPS TRACKER INSIDE HER. Unless he stood downstairs and argued with Carla for an hour or more, this time frame is ludicrous. Everly was on foot. She shouldn’t have been able to make it off the street considering she packed first. He had a tracker and a car!!
Just…..completely juvenile and ridiculous.

This was a quick skim read because I’m reading the next book, and the timelines and characters overlap some. I was curious who Carla and Everly’s dad were. Turns out, Carla is the crazy wannabe OW mafia princess.
It doesn't have great reviews. It's very OTT and unrealistic, but I'm not rating because I skimmed loads.
➥ The writing in this is objectively bad. Some weird grammatically dubious wording and uneven flow combined with some major info dumps at the beginning show this author needs to take a few lessons before continuing her career. ・ ・ ・ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕮⋆˚࿔✎𓂃 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This has got to be the best debut book I have read in years! It didn't take long for MY obsession to become a real thing. Seriously, by the time I was 20% in, there was no way I was putting it down until it ended. Gio and Everly had me hooked! I loved the plot, secondary characters (I need more Marcello!), the spice, and now I can't wait to what's next!
Upcoming Mafia boss is informed by his dad that it is time for him to find a wife, have babies and take over as the Don. Gio is not ready and he certainly does not want the potential arranged marriage to an ally. Luck is on his side though when Everly catches his attention at a bar he is drinking his trouble away at. Gio knows she is the one for him, but he does not act on it right away he watches her finding out she is homeless and from afar takes care of her.
Everly awakes in a strange home with a man who informs her they are married. Everly thinks the man is nuts but he quickly shows her a new way of life, but he is holding secrets that scare her. With the threat of her father still out there Gio is even more possessive but will his extremes have her running away?
Gio is definitely over the top alpha male. He does some questionable things but while this is unnerving he does have a soft side that is entertaining to read. Definitely has triggers in this story that some may not feel comfortable with. I was pulled in and read in one sitting.
Omg what a treat this book was. Idk if there intended to be comedic relief in the beginning of the book but I was giggling like an idiot haha. Gio and his delulu ways had me cracking up.. then Everlys first interaction with his mom had me in tears laughing. I actually really enjoyed the book even with the heavy subjects in this book.. Indi... twice?!? Couldn't give her a break?? Was the writing top notch? No.. but I still had a grand time reading it. Also if I remember correctly this was her first book she wrote and that in itself is commendable.
Mafia - Age Gap - Forced Marriage - Abuse - Breeding - Stalking - Somno - 💀
Gio 🥺😍 omg he's the perfect blend of hot, psycho, obsessed daddy 😜 My favorite parts are when he does something so outrageous and our sweet Everly tells him you can just do that and my boy comes back with *The fck I can't!"
Everly needed someone so badly to love her, protect her, and care for her like no other and she found that in Gio. He will do everything and anything for her and his family.
Omg the family 🥺 they are take her in like she has been there for ever. I can't wait to read more from this author and to get to know his sister and his even crazier friend Marcello
** I will follow her into death. We will be together in this life and the next. I know I’m obsessed, unhinged, and possibly psychotic when it comes to my beautiful wife, but do I care? No
Gios possession is an excellent story. Our MMC falls first and goes to great lengths to ensure our MMC Everly becomes solely his possession and secure his future with her. We get whisked away into a world where family goes above all to protect each other, support characters that are so good into adding depth into the plot and understanding the dynamics in their world. Our FMC rises from the ashes again and again like a phoenix. Taking everything life throws at her just to come out on top with her happy ending. The triggers of parental abuse are heavy in this book so if that is something that you’re sensitive of be cautious but besides that us mafia romance readers are used to everything else in this book so please do read away because you will not be disappointed !! Definitely very well written and I am excited to see more from this author
This was an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE of a book and I don’t think I’m ever going to read anything as good as this again!! Where can I get a Gio 🥵❤️ or honestly even a Marcello 🤤I know we’re only like 3 days into 2024 but this is the best book of 2024 and I honestly think it’s going to stay that way!! I read it on KU and I normally don’t buy books with people on the covers but I NEEDED this in physical form ♥️♥️ The MMC is so unhinged and possessive and it’s written so perfectly and I love the FMC (she’s so adorable and precious) - she honestly deserves the world !! They are PERFECT for each other! I honestly have exams in 11 days and physically could not stop reading this so maybe read it when you don’t have priorities because it WILL suck you in! Indi Marie is now on my instant buy list and I look forward to see the masterpieces she creates in the future❤️
I had thought Nero by SJ Tilly was unhinged but Gio makes Nero look like child’s play. Gio is completely obsessed from the first glimpse. There was no fighting his feelings for Everly for even a second. He didn’t care what lines he crossed as long as Everly stayed and belonged to him. I can understand her feelings of hurt and betrayal and I’m so glad she still had a backbone even after everything she had gone through. If you are not of truly over the top possessive men then stay away from this book, but if you do then you’re missing out on something amazing. I can’t wait to see how unhinged Marcello is.
This book had an interesting plot and I loved how Gio was so protective of Everly from the first moment he seen her. He did some questionable things that Everly let get go of easier than she should have, but she trusted him and she knew that he cares for her. That was something that she hadn’t had before.
I loved the characters and how they were all so protective of Everly from the start.
Although this book started off slow and was really wordy at times it was a good reads. Solid 3.5 to 4 stars.
I really loved this book, I couldn't stop reading it! I love a obsessive man and love only her. TW: SA, Kidnapping, Drugging, unaliving If you like an Obsessive, morally gray MMC he falls first touch her and ☠️. This book is something for you. I received an advance copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was given the opportunity to get a sneak peak before this book goes live. I have to be honest and say that even though I love reading a lot that I can be extremely picky on how a story flows as well as writing styles and this book has been one that was hard to put down for how well it is written. There are some disturbing scenes in there that made me uncomfortable and angry for the heroine and some that made me question the Hero's morality, but he is deliciously loyal and she is a very relatable character that made it hard to not love her character as well. I don't read many spicy novels but I have to say that if you love an alpha male who takes care of his love and takes revenge for all who harm her, this is the book for you!
When I tell you I’m obsessed with this mafia romance, I am OBSESSED. I loved every single piece of this. The characters, the plot, the spice. All of it was fan-fucking-tastic.
Gio reminds me of the Eminem part of Rhiannas song, love the way you lie... "If she ever tries to fucking leave again I'm a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire" 🤣
This was a valiant first attempt for an author, but unfortunately, I think it suffers from a lack of experience and editing.
I don't like to bash budding authors as 1) it's a brave step they've taken publishing something they've worked so hard on. 2) I hope to someday be as brave. If I could, however, offer some helpful tips for future works or even a republishing of this work.
Firstly, there was waaaay too much exposition right out of the gate. The author would be better off doling this in drips and drabs throughout the book. Especially the heroines trauma.
Secondly, the dialogue was forced and stilted. The interactions between the protagonists were dry, and (stop reading for minor spoilers ahead) Everly's reaction to being kidnapped was... non existent. Her disbelief, while understandable, led to nothing very quickly and just became repetitively boring to read. A little more consistency, perhaps a little stand-off-ness from our heroine, would make it a bit easier to take. Instead of happily making meatballs with her newly discovered MIL, maybe have a goon in the corner with a gun, making her feel pressure to comply? A quick sentence or two like this could help many scenes in the book.
Lastly, while the gory descriptions of torture were quite well done, they were a bit too much. Not in the gory sense, but in the technical sense. For instance, describing the way the blood sprayed and coated the assailants hands is much more sinister than describing WHY there's so much blood and so on.
This was a valiant first attempt, and I do hope the quthor tries again because the general idea behind the writing is very, very good. The execution? It needs some work. Unfortunately I had to give up about 30% of the way through the book, which is something I rarely do, but I couldn't get into, or believe the story in anyway, the inconsistencies kept taking me out of it.
Ms. Marie, please don't take this an unkind review. Think of it as a stepping stone to your soon to be bestseller 😅
I was really enjoying the first half, unfortunately I lost interest after the half way point.
I just wanted her father to be found and taken care of, it was getting ridiculous how long he was able to hide, and for her to find out she was pregnant.
I thought I knew and loved OOT's Obsessive, Possessive hero, boy how wrong was I🤣.
This H is over obsessive and possessive to the T! You can't handle a coffer to h, and you can't make her blush (cause it belongs to him🙄).
But what am I talking about? He's just your normal charming guy right? 😮💨
And don't forget how he gets the h married to him. He just drugged her, took her home, put a ring on her hand, and it was done. (and "took care of himself" 🍆👌when she got drugged) At this point the h don't even talk to him for over 5 sentences.
And how he tattooed each other names on their skin, and drugged her again so he could put a tracker in her (Thank God he found a doctor to do it this time), gave her a fertility shot so she could get pregnant ASAP, and didn't tell her even he would sure h wouldn't run away. You know, just normal things that how other j/p H would do.
And what is the H doing in the book? Nothing, just fuck the h, and worried h ran away from him. And what is the h doing in the book? Nothing, just got fuck by the H, or another men almost rape her. Seriously, this "attempt got raped" card can only use one time or at least off the page and later happened at the page.🤦
And the hero's family is so funny too, what's the purpose of them exist in this book? And, surprisedly, it is all about the h. Because everytime they appear, is all about the h. Need to protect her, or need to find out the h's father (cause her father abused and sold her to other men).
They remind me of The Callen at the Twilight, but the movie version. You know, all they did was protect Bella?
And the last straw that made me decide to DNF this book, was when the h got concussion, and wanted some time alone cause she had just been kidnapped and knew her husband had tricked her into her pregnant. What does the H do? No! You can't have alone time, and fucked her WHEN HER SLEEPING!
And she just like and I quote "He thinks it will teach me a lesson about not sleeping in another room, but if that’s the punishment I get, then I will sleep in the other room every night. The man thinks his cock is a punishment when it’s God’s gift to womankind."
🤦🤦🤦🤦
it would be an insult to a doormat to even called h this.
I usually won't be too hard to a debut author, I know it how hard it can be. But I am just too angry at this point. I was so excited about this book, that I downloaded it immediately!

Everly and Giovanni. Everly has been working hard for years to support herself and her father. Her father is abusive and forces her to provide for him and his friends while she struggles to find something to eat. One day she comes home and her father has a friend over. The friend ends up in her room where he tells her that her father sold her V to him for money. She hits him and the man runs, but her father beats her because she was supposed to let it happen. After she comes up with a plan and takes off. Gio is the son of the local mafia don. His father tells him he needs to find someone to marry and have kids with so that he can retire and Gio takes control of the family. Gio angry about this takes off and ends up at a bar where he sees Everly. He follows her and sees her sleeping in an alley. He is determined to make her his.
This book was good. I really enjoyed it. It is a stalkerish romance (He stalks her for like a couple of days). Anyways, the book was really good and the story was addicting. Gio is possessive and obsessed with Everly. The banter between all the characters was entertaining. The smutt was also hot as heck.
Read to me by Alexa 🌶️🌶️- it is plentiful, but it’s vanilla, repetitive, and not particularly descriptive or creative.
I mean….. I finished it. Which is the only reason it has 2⭐️ instead of one. And the only reason I finished it is because I am behind on my reading goal. …. So there’s that.
Gio’s personality is being obsessed with Everly. That’s it. I can’t even call him 2 dimensional. He’s instantly inlove and he’s a hardened criminal but WAIT no women or children. I guess everyone needs a code 🤷🏾♀️. Not that I want to read on page abuse of women or children, but it’s just such a convenient way to make a MMC “dark” but likeable to a larger audience. It’s lazy to me.
Everly is honestly too stupid to be alive. How she makes it to the end of the book is a miracle. I love me a door mat heroine and I do appreciate that she doesn’t fight Gio, but her inner monologue…. 🙄🙄🙄
The villains are again 1 dimensional. They are solely there to create conflict but have no real reason for said conflict.
Overall the writing was really lazy and it felt like someone that likes to read smutty romance and thought “hey, I bet I could just write my own” . …. Harsh? Yes. But honest review…. Also yes.
If you want an easy mind numbing read ( nothing wrong with that) then sure. But otherwise skip this.
She needed to have a back bone and stand up for herself with her pathetic family. I don’t like heroine who stand up to the Hero but not their own family
She needed a backbone other than that it was good. I Loved Marcello amazing Hero.
