“'Even though our lives are in danger because of you, we'd do it' promised Jake. 'Us three are in it forever right? Forever. Always'
'Forever and always', echoed Wren and Ladislaya.” ⋆.˚🪼⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
―୨୧⋆ ˚ first one to read & review this on here? HELL YEAH!
so, to start off this review, I'd like to *flex* the fact that this amazing book was written by my best friend, jill, and I am just so proud of her and how far she's come as an author and a bookstagrammer, and I can't wait to read her future works <3
please note that I, by no means, rated this book 5 stars because she's my friend shut up I hv best friend duties I must fulfill here, but because of how solid this was as a debut novel. it reminded me sm of all of my childhood favorite fantasy books and reminded me why I love them so much. the writing style was clear, easy-to-read and had a wondeful flow to it. the characters were all so loveable (jake, wren, ladislaya MY BABIES), and the villains were so well-written like I was lowkey terrified for the other characters. not to mention, the modern royals in a fantasy world twist?! loved it. I simply CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL.
all in all, this was a pretty fast-paced and enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it to those looking for something quick & fun, or simply something to read to get out a reading slump<3
"You have heard of fairytales. Myths and legends. Things that are told don't exist in this world. Things that aren't real. The catch - they are real. Realer than you think."
Planning on reading this cuz my friend, ⋆˖⁺‧₊☽ Sara ☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ [semi-hiatus], her bestie, J. K. Jael, wrote it~! 💅✨
DNF after chapter 2. This book is not for me. I do not like how it is written. The plot may be interesting but the juvenile writing has forced me to DNF. The dialogue and interaction between characters is really strange and lacks emotional depth. It feels like the author is throwing information at us without drawing us into the world of Wren.
