I grew up in the biker lifestyle. As much as I love it, my dad the Riot MC president, insists I break out and live in the ‘real’ world. After four years of college, everything is great until the night my boyfriend breaks things off. Reeling and angry, I wander into a small bar and perch myself on a stool next to an older man. He’s hotter than summer in the Deep South and he goes by the name, Steel. We can’t resist the spark between us. One night. No strings, no muss, no fuss. Except for one snag… When I find Steel again, my ex is bumming cash from the man he calls, ‘Dad.’ It turns my stomach that I’m calling his dad my ‘baby-daddy.’ Even worse, he’s one of my dad’s oldest enemies. Once Steel knows who I am, he’s more interested in using me against the Riot MC than the news I have to tell him. My extended Riot family senses something’s wrong. They want to protect me at all costs. It’s hard to say whose hold I want to break out from more theirs or Steel’s. One thing is certain, I’m nobody’s plaything and I’ll decide which path my life takes, no matter how many rules –or hearts—I have to break. From Karen Renee, author of the Riot MC series, the next generation is here... let the ride begin.
Karen Renee is the author of the Riot Motorcycle Club, Beta, and O-Town series of books. She once crunched Nielsen ratings data but these days she brings her imagination to life by writing books. She has wanted to be a writer since she was very young, but it’s taken the last twenty plus years for her to amass enough courage and overall life experience to bring that dream to life. Some of those life experiences came from the wonderful world of advertising, banking, and local television media research. She is a proud wife and mother, and a Jacksonville native. When she’s not at the soccer field or cooking, you can find her at her local library, the grocery store, in her car jamming out to some tunes, or hibernating while she writes and/or reads books.
I was immediately pulled into this one. This one had everything I was looking for. The pacing and dynamics between the characters were perfect. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it. It reminded me how much I love MC romance. There is tension, drama, action, and a lot of protective alpha moments that honestly make me swoon. I can’t help it, I love a protective alpha hero.
I loved Steel and Simone’s relationship. They meet by chance and spend one night together but fate brings them back together. I loved the way they worked to figure everything out despite everything and everybody that was against them. Despite their age difference, their biggest hurdle is the fact that he’s the President of a rival MC club with enemies. Their attraction is fast, but merging their lives, dealing with unrest between their two families, and trying to keep Simone safe requires them to work together. As an MC Princess, Simone doesn’t shy away from getting involved. Her stubborn sass and his protective ways were some of my favorite scenes. There is drama, action, and danger and I loved watching it all unfold.
This is the first book in a second-generation series. I was able to jump right in and read it as a standalone. It completely hooked me and I need to go back and read the Riot MC series as I *impatiently wait for the next book.
🏍️ age gap 🏍️ forbidden romance 🏍️ morally grey characters 🏍️ protective alpha 🏍️ accidental pregnancy 🏍️ rival motorcycle clubs 🏍️ found family 🏍️ ex-boyfriend’s dad 🏍️ one night stand 🏍️ interconnected standalone
I could not put this book down. I loved the age gap romance with Steel and Simone. All it was supposed to be was a one-night stand with the sexy older biker after her break up. You know this is going to be good when you find out that Steel is not only the Prez of her father’s rival club but he is also the father of her ex…and now the father of her unborn baby!! Yep, it’s that good.
I have loved Ms. Renee’s books and this is another five-star read for me!
Break Outis my first read from new to me author Karen Renee. Despite being a Standalone and the first book inRiot MC Next Generationseries, it is connected to theRiot MCseries, as this series follows the second generation. In this Surprise Pregnancy, Age Gap, MC Club Romance, through the dual POVs we follow along the story of Simone Adler and Raymond Reynolds Steel.
The beginning started off strong, keeping my interest with the excitement that came from all that took place. Getting to know Simone and Steel that progressed into entertainment seeing the playful banter between the two. Only to lead to sizzling chemistry growing between them before exploding into hot and spicy steam when they got down into it. Following along Simone and Steel created a journey that kept me turning each page, delving deeper into the storyline development. Plus with the drama thrown into the mix, alongside the mysteries of secrets being kept/hidden. It helped build the suspenseful moments. Ultimately keeping me further entranced to see where their story would take them and continue to play out.
It should be known surprisingly this was the first book to ever have left me confused having not read the other books from the first generation series. Even withBreak Outbeing a standalone and the first book within the newest series, from all that was taking place, heavily involving secondary characters it had me lost trying to not only keep a track of who was who. But what was going on with them in regards to positions and whatnot.
On top of that, once all was said and done from what was divulged and came to light, the story ended up going downhill for me from that moment. Losing interest and no longer feeling intrigued.
It didn't help that close to the half way mark is when the story started to fall flat, causing me to lose interest that author Karen sparked within me from the beginning of Simone and Steel's story. There just didn't seem to be enough focus or development within Simone and Steel's relationship, instead it seemed to be overlooked after a certain point and then pushed behind the subplots taking over IMO, ultimately leading me to lose further interest and wanting it to be over already.
In the end, although it may have not been my cup of tea by the end, that’s not to sayBreak Outby Karen Renee didn’t make for a decent read. Considering the beginning had me enjoying seeing the early stages showcased between Simone and Steel’s journey that paved the way for their budding relationship.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! A great book! This book has A twist on top of a twist that you don’t see coming. This is an age gap, filled with drama, rival clubs, a one night stand that will have you so twisted that you are going to try to start figuring out what is next. Great book!!
Omg I LOVE this next generation spin off of the Riot MC club!! Simone is the daughter of Volt and Jackie. And if you read “Starting a Riot” you already know that Jackie has a backbone of steel and a good head on her shoulder. So it’s no wonder that her daughter is the same way…. Simone is getting out of a long relationship and has a one night no strings with an older man in a place her ex wouldn’t be caught dead in…. Don’t want to spoil this book but omg what a ride!! The dynamics, the power plays, the mistrust and conniving that goes on. Add in the lust and hormones and magnet pull and it’s a stellar read!! I honestly cannot wait for more in the next gen series!!
I LOVE MC BOOKS!!! They are like my favorite. Some of them more than others. Some authors like to write ones that are all bada**/s*x/mostly terrible humans. Then some go the too soft route. This one is right in the middle. Just right!
Ever felt like life hands you a steaming hot mess just when you thought you had it all figured out? Welcome to the whirlwind world of "Break Out" by Karen Renee, where the drama is as thick as Southern humidity, and the stakes are as high as your blood pressure after a triple espresso.
Meet our heroine, the daughter of a Riot MC president. Yeah, that’s Motorcycle Club for the uninitiated—think leather jackets, roaring engines, and a family dynamic that makes your Thanksgiving dinners look tame. Our gal here, after getting a degree and trying to live that ‘real world’ life her dad insists on, gets dumped by her boyfriend. As if that’s not enough, she finds herself cozying up to a barstool next to Steel—an older, hotter-than-a-jalapeño biker who turns her night around in the most unforgettable way.
Fast forward, and we’ve got ourselves a situation stickier than a melted popsicle on a hot day. Steel, it turns out, is the dad of her ex-boyfriend, and if that’s not a plot twist, I don’t know what is. Oh, and did I mention she's carrying Steel's baby? Yeah, buckle up, folks, because this ride’s about to get bumpy.
Renee crafts a narrative that's like a rollercoaster you didn’t know you wanted to get on but can’t stop screaming through once you’re on it. The chemistry between Steel and our leading lady is palpable—like, if you lit a match near them, the whole place might go up in flames. And it’s not just the romance; the tangled web of biker politics and family loyalty keeps you turning pages faster than you can say “Harley-Davidson.”
The Riot MC family is a force to be reckoned with, and the tension between them and Steel adds layers to the story that make it more than just a romance. It’s about finding where you belong, dealing with unexpected turns, and realizing that sometimes the real world is just as wild and unpredictable as the biker life you thought you left behind.
And let’s talk about the writing style. Karen Renee has this knack for making you feel every bit of the protagonist's turmoil and joy. It’s raw, real, and oh-so-relatable. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even throw the book across the room when the twists hit too close to home.
In short, "Break Out" is a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance with a side of adrenaline. It’s a reminder that life doesn’t always go as planned, but sometimes, the detours lead to the best destinations. So, grab a copy, find a comfy spot, and get ready to lose yourself in a world where the only thing hotter than the romance is the drama that comes with it.
And hey, if you’ve ever found yourself wondering if you can really break free from your past, this book might just give you the spark you need to find out. Enjoy the ride!
Break Out is book one in the Riot MC New Generation by Karen Renee and focuses on the characters Simone and Steel. Simon is the daughter of Volt and Jackie, who has just graduated college and realised that her boyfriend is a douche after he strings her along and then dumps her in front of her supposed friends. Here she meets an older man that ticks all of her boxes and after a night of passion, they go their separate ways, its only fate that throws them together and from here they learn that although they have feelings for each other….other elements of their lives might get in the way.
I really liked Steel and Simone’s relationship. It wasn’t all roses and there were times that Steel could be quite arrogant with what he wanted but expected a lot of communication from Simone. And whilst Simone was young and having grown up in an MC, she sometimes found it difficult to not be in the ‘know’, but she definitely understood where Steel was coming from and sometimes was a little to understanding. The two characters work well together though overall, especially with the unrest of two MC’s and family/friends sticking their noses into their business! Overall, I really did enjoy this read and can’t wait to read the next one in the series!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is an age gap romance. This is the story of Steel and Simone. She is the daughter of the President of the Riot MC and he is a member of a rival MC. She is just getting out of a relationship and she is pretty angry about that. After all her ex is the one to do the dumping. To celebrate she does to a bar that she knows her ex would never set foot in. He's to good for that. When she meets Steel in the bar they have this instant attraction to each other that leads to one of the best no strings attached nights of both their lives. He is older and hotter than any man she has ever seen. Except no one expected the snag that is going to affect them both. However when she goes to find Steel she discovers two things. One, her ex is bumming money and calling Steel dad. Two he is one of her fathers oldest enemies. When the club gets involved because Steel is more interested in using her again her dad things take some serious twists and turns. All she wants is to be free of it all. Will she ever be able to accomplish this goal. I loved this book Simone is one though woman and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She doesn't want to be controlled by anyone and that is the turn her life is taking. I really loved Steel in the beginning and then I went though a period of not being a fan. However, don't give up on him. I really loved reading this book!!
I could not stop reading this one. Haven't had a good MC read in a while and this one kept me entertained.
Simone's boyfriend broke up with her in front of their friends. She didn't argue or anything just walked away. Into a bar that he never wanted to go to and met a guy that totally blowed her away🤭 If only she got his phone number...
Steel wasn't planning on meeting anyone. He came to try to meet up wit the boy that was like a son to him. And then he met Jade (Simone). And thing leads to another and he spent a night with her he will never forget... Now he wished he got her phone number...
Running into her again at bike week and finding out she was part of another MC could make thing a bit complicated. His life wasn't easy as a rival club wants to take over their territory. Now he needs to keep his family safe by any means necessary...
Hooked from the start to the end. Steel was older than Simone. You couldn't actually pick it up that much if her age wasn't mentioned. Steel was a biker, and a president and he was all alpha. The two of them were definitely made for each other💖 The story was filled with suspense and drama and a little bit of romance and lots of steamy scenes.
Ms. Renee is truly outdoing herself with the Riot MC’s 2nd generation. With Break Out, she gave us an outstanding storyline with truly wonderful characters, even if I did want to bop a few heads from time to time. This is Simone’s story. She is the daughter of the Riot MC’s Prez, Volt and his ole lady, Jackie. She just graduated college and is dumped by her boyfriend, very publicly. Deciding to drown her sorrows, she stops at a local bar and meets an older man (Steel). Their chemistry is off the charts from the very start. They end up spending one magical night, where Simore slips out in the wee hours… no mess no fuss. If they had only known they were going to need to find one another for various reasons, they might have exchanged full names and numbers.
When they do run into each other again, they both get several shocks. Not only is Steel going to be a dad, but he’s her cheating ex’s father and he’s the Prez of one of her father’s worst enemies. Watching these two navigate these turbulent waters was outstanding. Not only with one another but their respective clubs and families but with outside sources causing the MC’s trouble.
I loved Break Out from start to finish. I can’t recommend it enough. Grab it up asap, you won’t regret it.
You know, I was worried about the next generation. Riot may or may not be the future for every kid, but Simone and her decisions make me so very hopeful that no matter which way they turn, we’ll see our old buddies every time. And even better, Volt has to make nice for Simone’s sake. And Blood. And a few others. But they only enhance this story and prove that yeah, these guys are just as big and bad as more seasoned individuals with grown kids.
Steel is someone I wouldn’t have thought works with Simone, but boy does he ever. And he sees more than others do when it comes to her. And Rafferty. In fact, Steel is so much more observant than you’d dare hope that I loved how he and Simone’s family get along. Sure, they have some squabbles. But when it counts, they’re unafraid to work together and prove that there is far more good in dropping the old ways to forge a better tomorrow.
So yeah. I’m already loving this series and I really hope that Lex leads someone on a merry chase to finding forever because they both need their heads to be on straight before figuring out which way the road leads. I’m sure to be waiting for it and will be thrilled to take the ride with them.
After spending most her life in and around the motorcycle club Simone is determined to have a life that has nothing to do with it... which seems easy enough until she finds out her last night stand is an MC enemy of her father and she just so happens to be pregnant with his child. Which means things in her life just took a very difficult turn...
Break Out takes us into the very complicated life of Simone, a young woman who was on the cusp of starting a life completely free of her old one, then one little mishap changed everything and put her right back into the world she wanted to escape. A place she never really wanted to return to. Being pregnant with the enemies child puts a huge target on her back and creates a lot of trouble for her with her father. She literally put herself between two rival MC's and has no idea what to do!
I loved watching this one unfold, it was an engaging story line rich with passion, emotion, and drama. It was the perfect escape!! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
I’ve been in such a reading funk. I’ll start a book and lose interest. This one isn’t one I’d usually be interested in. The only trope I go for is mc, but my goodness did it do it. Simone aka Jade was written beautifully. I loved her spunk and sass and how she didn’t take no crap. Doormat heroines get annoying after a while and I love a strong heroine who doesn’t act like a you know what. Jade was exactly that. She spoke her mind but not in a crappy way. Steel was your typical tough guy who didn’t want any kids. Watching him progress through the story and how he changed and became so sweet and gentle with Jade was awesome. Now, mind you, he did put Jade in her place when needed. The last thing I absolutely adored was the action. Too many MC books focus only on the romance and the action falls short. For me, I enjoy the action because let’s be real, in a real MC it’s not just rainbows and unicorns. There’s fights and betrayals and not so nice things. This book was perfect! I can’t think of one thing I would change.
The moment I started reading the book I got pulled in. I liked how it started right off with drama. Simone is such a strong willed young lady. I adored her sass and feisty personality. I liked that she gives as good as she gets. And she doesn’t back down from her convictions. Steel is the president of his MC. He has a lot going on and so much on his plate. But the minute he sees Simone he’s captivated by her. Their one night stand is an unforgettable experience for both of them. But soon they are about to learn how truly unforgettable it was. Steel and Simone’s relationship is intense. So many things and people are fighting against them. Plus having their own personal issues to deal with. Especially Steel. Ms. Renee is a new to me author. I enjoyed her building up of the characters and the relationships taking place and the different dynamics going on. The story is a good combination of drama and sexy. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Wow! This was so good. I'd forgotten what the book was about but a few pages in and I was hooked.
Simone was just dumped by her boyfriend. As she reflects, she realizes that the signs were there but she'd ignored them.
She ducks into a restaurant/bar she'd always wanted to try and there she meets an older man that catches her attention. His name is Steel and having grown up an MC princess his everything she should avoid but she can't seem to resist.
She sneaks away the next morning neither knowing the others real names.
Weeks later she finds out she's pregnant but she has no way of contacting Steel.
Her family will be adamant she finds the man sooner rather than later.
And she's already decided she's keeping this baby no matter what he wants.
The annual biker week will be where they meet again but they have more surprises in store.
Thanks so much to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for this ARC to review.
MC Rival MC EX’s dad Morally grey characters Age gap One night stand Surprise pregnancy
Our MFC, Simone, grew up in the MC life. Her dad is a club president. She is confident and independent. After a breakup with her boyfriend, she has a one night stand with an older man. Imagine her surprise when she realizes she is pregnant and the father is her ex’s dad. He is also the president of a rival MC.
Steel and Simone’s relationship began with a one night stand. It quickly developed into more. He is the ruthless MC president but shows a bit up softness with Simone unless it came to club business. He protective. She is sassy.
Steel and Simone’s relationship was not without controversy. His rivalry with her dad and the fact that she was his son’s ex. It also brought attention to Simone and put her in danger.
The story was fast paced. There was banter, steam and plenty of action. A good start to a new series.
Going to meet a group of friends for a night out, Simone overhears her boyfriend making derogatory comments about her and she discovers the relationship is over. She makes her way to a bar and finds herself next to a devilishly handsome older man. There is instant attraction, and they enjoy a one night only together.
Steel the President of Devils Lancer MC can’t get his one night stand out of his head and needs to contact her after he discovers a club girl has been up to no good.
Karen is a new author to me and I really enjoyed Steel and Simone’s story. Plenty of action, drama, danger, family interference, an enemy MC and club girl shenanigans. I’m looking forward to reading more from this new series.
This is the first in the next generation series, and this is Steel and Simone’s story. Simone is a MC princess, and when her boyfriend breaks it off with her, she goes to drown her sorrows and meet Steel, and they agree to have 1-night, no strings, and no fuss. When they cross paths again Simone finds out that not only is Steel her ex-boyfriend’s dad, but he is also the president of a rival MC. This is a well written action packed story, with family, friendships, emotions, drama, secrets, tension, danger, suspense, intrigue, an age gap, challenges, morally grey characters, undeniable chemistry, surprises, forbidden romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining and spicy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is my first Karen Renee book, and I really enjoyed it. Although it’s some sort of next generation of the MC, I didn’t feel lost when reading.
The blurb pretty much says it all, Steel is the prez of a motorcycle club and the woman that caught his eye and much more is the daughter of the prez of a rival club. It’s nice that Simone isn’t scared away by the MC life, however this is going to be a tricky road to navigate with the “situation” they quickly find themselves in.
While "Break Out" may not have been as angsty as I anticipated, it kept me hooked with its non-stop action and unexpected twists. The writing is strong, and the inclusion of a little epilogue to wrap up the story.
I really enjoyed this book from Karen Renee. Break Out is Simone and Steel's story.
Simone has been brought up living the MC life, and after graduating, her parents want her to break free, but things don't always work out the way we think they will. After being dumped by her boyfriend, she heads to a bar where she meets Steel. Their chemistry is off the charts and they end up spending the night together, only for Simone to have gone the next morning only she soon discovers it's a night that's left them with more than just memories. Will Simone and Steel meet again, and if they do, how will it all play out when they discover they have more in common than they think.
A fabulous start to this new series, and I look forward to reading more.
For being a next gen book, this one went to a place I didn't expect, a different MC. That kinda threw me, especially when you add Rafferty to the mix. I did like Simone and Steel together, from their first meeting to seeing each other again with all that Simone had to share. It was fun to see Simone keep throwing Steel off kilter by her reactions. It helped that Simone grew up in a MC, so much of what happened was normal in her book. Where issues seemed to come up was in how different Steel's club was from Riot.
The drama that came was crazy! More crazy was how things got solved, who would have guessed that the two MC's would work together and had Simone not been involved it never would have happened.
The ending was great, loved to see them happy and living their lives.

I was completely wrapped up in this book, I always worry next gen books won’t be as good as the OG’s but all worries dispelled. Simone, I love her Sassy, sarky comments she’s definitely spent time round her aunty Abbey growing up. When she heard her boyfriend of nearly 3 yrs talking about her to his friends and the way he dismissed her with we’re done I thought you’d figure that out, I wanted to throat punch the little weasel. I love that initial interaction between her and Steel, the flirty banter was fun and the first night in his hotel room …. Yes please sign me up for some of that. I really liked that the male character is now in first person, always my first choice.
There are just 5 days until Break Out is LIVE! It's the first book in a next generation series. Pre-order is available on all the major eBook retailers.
This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. (I know, I chose next gen to start 😅 but I didn’t feel out of the loop! And I do plan to go back and read the original series at some point). This was an action packed, drama filled quick read and I was entertained throughout. Simone and Steel had great chemistry and despite the age difference, really worked well together and balanced each other out. I loved the drama that came with their relationship and the found family they created.
If you aren’t sold on reading it then check out this list of what to expect in the book:
❤️ Ex-boyfriends father ❤️ Her dads enemy ❤️ Found family ❤️ Age gap ❤️ MC romance 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This book is chalk full of protective MC bikers. So much so that I think a lot of them would love to put our FMC, Simone, in a bubble. Simone's not having that though as she finally feels like she's met her match in Steel. Steel, well, he's a bit of a pain. And their connection to each other goes beyond romantic, which adds some juicy drama in the mix. There's plenty of club house issues as well, especially since Steel and Simone's Dad are heads of rival MC clubs. I do love Steel and Simone together. Sometimes the way the MC culture is portrayed can be tough to read as a woman. It definitely made connecting to the men kind of difficult. But, overall, it was a great read.
Jade is a bike princess who meets Steel in a bar and does grown-up things with him. These escapades lead to a lifelong commitment.
This book starts out great. Jade and Steels chemistry is hot. Their banter and flirtation is a page turner. Then, the book starts to fizzle out. Steel doesn't act like a mother chapter president when things start happening. He seems more passive and waits for the next thing to happen, repeatedly. It's like the author goes back and forth with making him alpha and beta. Nevertheless, it's a decent read, if you have the time to spare other than that feel free to skip this one. Happy reading to everyone else.
I am a huge fan of the Riot MC family and Simone "Jade" and apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Being Volt & Jackie's daughter, she has seen the biker life up close and personal, she is not one to back down from a challenge that life throws her. Sometimes Steel felt too wishy washy for me and not strong enough for Simone, but in the end I loved them together and the challenges they faced. I can't for Lex's story next. This Riot MC next generation is shaping up to be as strong and determined as their parents.
This is a new to me author and I had to get used to her writing but she did manage to keep my attention.
While I enjoyed the story I didn’t particularly like the characters.
I found Steel to be a weak president of a motorcycle club. He talks about ruling with an iron fist but I didn’t really see that.
I was not really a fan of Simone. For someone who grew up as a MC princess she seemed to be a little too confident that she could be a president’s old lady but she did impulsive things which were extremely dangerous and naive. Yes she was independent and could take care of her own but she didn’t think before acting.
The secondary characters were great. They made this book what it is. I would like to see what happens with Rafferty and Alexander so I’m hoping that the next book will be better.
In this book you’ll find: 🏍️ MC brotherhood 🖤 surprise pregnancy 🏍️ kidnapping 🖤 age gap 20 years 🏍️ ex-boyfriend’s dad 🖤 rival club suspense
If you like MC's stories, then you are going to love this one. Simone grew up in the MC life where her dad is the President of an MC. She meets Steel who happens to be President of a rival MC and a lot older and did I say good-looking, oh yeah. Unknowing to her he is the father of her ex-boyfriend. Steel is all man and Simone is ready for a night of debauchery. When these two get together it's sensual and sizzling... Fast forward and there's a bun in the oven. Be ready for some hot MC men, steamy sex, and danger.
Simone (Jade) and Steel - what a wild ride. I like how the book had all the elements of an MC romance. There was the MC lifestyle, an MC Plot and the romance plot and each was well done. The FMC is my hero - so fierce and strong - but being a daughter of an MC President - what do you expect. I also liked how she faced everything head on. Steel - I admired how he came around and once he did - he was all in. I truly liked how the two MC's worked together at the end. I can't wait to read the next book.
