This is an interesting nonfiction book about chipmunks, written by Merebeth Switzer. The book is a bit odd, as there are two books back to back, with the cover for each on opposite ends. The second book is about beavers and is written by Elin Kelsey, but both books follow the same format.
The narrative is short and the text is paired with many colorful photographs. Our youngest brought this book home from her second grade class to practice her reading and comprehension of nonfiction material.
Overall, I thought it was a very good book that helps to teach children about these whimsical creatures. The information is detailed, but not boring or overwhelming, and the drawings and photographs are terrific. We see lots of squirrels in our yard every day, but we often have to take a trip to the forest to see Chipmunks.
Really cool informational book on Chipmunks and Beavers. Easy to understand book for probably 2nd grade and up depending on the child's reading level but can be read by parent or teacher.
I like this book because it’s accurate and gives me the chance to compare and contrast chipmunks and beavers. It’s an interesting book and i really enjoy it.
This is a book about both beavers and chipmunks. It talks about how they build their homes, where they live, and how the young is raised. A very good informational book.
