Abe Salcedo had fallen in love, only to lose her. Right before his very eyes, she was gone. One minute there, the next gone. She was dead and he couldn't sleep without nightmares. Someone was calling to him, begging him for help. When his commander sends him home for mandatory leave, he finds himself at the sharp end of a knife. Prepared to die, he only hopes to say goodbye to his family. That's what he needs. Family.
Lyra Wolford finally finds the one man she knows she can trust. Unfortunately, falling in love is not an option. She has too many secrets, far too many secrets. If what she knows doesn't kill her, it will definitely kill Abe. Unwilling to risk that, she has to find help another way. Little does she know that all help leads home. Not her home, but Abe's. Belle Fleur.
Thank you for reading my bio and my books! I live and work in Dallas, TX. I'm the mother of two amazing daughters and two fantastic, intelligent grandsons, with one more on the way, and a wonderful son-in-law. I love to cook, travel, and write, but I'm also an avid reader. Being from a military family, my books often center around strong, military men but I also LOVE strong, independent, intelligent women. With this one it seems like the bad guys are getting really bad. I know the RP/VG has killed them before, but so many needed it this time around. And the one that they left alive...well he needed it and the punishment was so very public, kind of a this is what happens when you do this.
Lyra and Abe's connection was a good one, hated where Abe's head was at the start, so glad to learn that what he thought he knew was wrong. It was interesting to see Lyra assimilate into Belle Fleur. She really needed the reassurance from the women often. In the end, things worked out for them and the bad guys all taken care of, so it was a win.
Abe was holding onto hope the woman he loved finds her way back to him. But circumstances are keeping them apart. When he finds her in his own home he doesn’t know what to think. He is angry but finds that his anger is nit really directed at Lyra but her circumstances. Once again Mary Kennedy and the RP, VG and women of Belle Fleur give us an amazing story to immerse ourselves in.
I so enjoy reading these books. It always makes me think about what us as the general public is not aware of and hope for the future. I hope that there are really people like the people of Belle Fluer that are out there watching over us. We need real people like that. There has to be more than greedy villains in the world but sometimes I wonder. Love your books Mary Kennedy. Keep them coming.
I chose this rating because this was a very interesting book. I enjoyed pretty much all of the characters, Well there was a few characters that I really didn't care for. This was a book of determination, compassion, kindness, acceptance, guidance, and doing what's right. It was also finding and falling in love. I enjoyed Abe and Lyra story I think the author did an amazing job putting these characters together. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.
You know when this author releases a book it’s going to be good and as normal this author didn’t disappoint. Love this series and author. Bring on the next please
Mary Kennedy never disappoints with this series. Abe and Lyra's story once again shows us what love is, how cruel some people in the world are for power. The author is a great story teller and each book keeps getting better. Can't wait for Harlow and Nate story
Beautifully written! Short and sweet as always, although it was nice to see someone fall in love gradually rather than the insta love. Plot was great! Can't wait for nates story.
I have been a big fan of Ms Kennedy's for a few years now! I ran through her 1st 3 series as if my life depended on it😀 the stories were so good and so fulfilling! I fell in love with her talented storytelling!
