In the carcass of London, Joe and the rest of the Guardians try to find out what caused the dead to rise, while Ella finds friends and Liz learns to adapt to her new circumstances.
This is a great second part to this new & exciting, zombie apocalyptic series! Fast paced action & adventure, moments of amusement, good british humour! A really great read! It had everything I love in a great zombie story! I do recommend!
So against all odds you’ve found yourself in a zombie apocalypse. Joe is desperate to find his family but before he can head out to look for them the group of people he’s currently with demands that he help them on their mission.
They want information on the cause of the zombie outbreak, now they are headed to the London headquarters of Sentriculture. The company at the centre of a controversy surrounding an agricultural scandal. Animals eating the modified food supplied by Sentriculture began acting strangely. Unknown to the general populace the animals died but wouldn’t stay dead, they came back. Just like the recently dead have done.
Meanwhile, his wife Liz is at the mercy of James the young man who lived across the road from her house. Severely unhinged he’s killed Alise the young Central European woman and bundled her and Alise’s body into the back of a van. Destination unknown.
If you thought that the zombie apocalypse and a loved one held hostage by a psychopath was bad enough then read on, because things get worse.
There's something wrong with this series of books , I've just finished reading book 2 and trying hard to get into it, but it's disjointed, it doesn't flow right , it has the odd American word in it that we in England wouldn't use , The story jerks you around alot, You don't even like the characters in it, there's no redeeming points in them that make you care whether they die or not. It could be a good story of written better and proof read properly. Don't know if I'll read the next book, seems a waste of good reading time.
CONS: needs a strong editor to help with the usual errors (e.g., spelling, grammar, usage).
Multi-person narrative is a crutch for exposition but it flows smoothly and with only mild annoyance.
PROS: great plot, sympathetic characters, enough side plots to keep the tension up even without zombies, and an intriguing take on what makes a zombie.
If you like the genre, this one is worth the time!
I liked that the effects on the living and dead is different from the usual zombie apocalypse. I like the core character and I enjoyed the time it took him and the group to grasp their new environment. What is usual is the number of people taking advantage of others without society's normal boundaries being enforced. Each book seems short, but I am intrigued and will continue reading.
I love this storyline but I'm a bit fed up with all the Americanisms used like trash cans they are rubbish bins and being an old fashioned south London girl it grates on me but as I said it's a great storyline because if it wasn't I would not have bothered reading the first , second and on wards
It gets more interesting with each book. This was a good read with plenty of excitement and lots of scary parts mixed in. I'm on the the third book and can see that it will be just as enjoyable to read as the last two.
