A psychosexual thriller. It's an updated Spellbound (meets Da Vinci Code), where a Freudian psychoanalyst must analyze the symbolism of his own Daliesque dreams to catch a serial killer terrorizing the elite of New York City.

I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway. I’m grateful I didn’t pay for it. So many typos, random words in all caps for no apparent reason, and a meandering storyline that doesn’t always make sense. No thanks. Could have been really good with a strong editor.
I received this book as an arc in return for an honest review. So let’s get into it.
The premise of this book was exciting, that is what drew me into the book first. Having a background in psychology, I was excited to read see what how this story would unfold.
There were several parts of this book that read like an abnormal psychology lecture, which was off putting. The format of the story pulled me out of the story and drew my attention elsewhere. However, formatting changes are not too difficult to overcome when reading digitally.
This story follows Joel as he navigates his dissolving marriage, wrestles with his psyche evolution, and thwarts murder of a very wealthy and very influential mentor. The truths that are uncovered indirectly along the way and revelations made hit like a one two punch. The climax of the story is shocked and so so tragic.
If you’re someone who enjoys a deep dive into psychiatric themes and elements, this will be a great read for you. If that is not your cup of tea, you will find this book difficult to get through.

I received this book as an ARC. It was very interesting, in that it focused on psychological issues and psychiatry practicing. The characters were developed nicely and good to follow. I was able to relate to a lot of the psychology aspect, as I have a degree in psychology. In addition, I am versed in different psychological disorders that psychiatrists treat. It was a good read and look forward to more books by this author.
This could have been really great book, but the writing was atrocious! There was no real character development. It seemed like it was partially written like a play as it transitioned you at the start of each chapter, and that was poorly done as well!
This book was very interesting in that it focused on the psychological aspects of the crimes and the psychiatrists were primary characters. I enjoyed the book because of the analytical aspects of the story and the unexpected twists and turns of the plot. Also, it gave me a bird’s eye view into how psychiatrists think. The ending surprised me.
