Friday. I don’t know what I expected to happen when I took off with four random guys that I met at a motel but finding out that they aren’t human was not on my list of possibilities. Everything was going so well, too. They’re hot and hot. And did I say hot? There’s one who is super funny, and other that is so smart and nerdy – it’s adorable. The other two, well they’re kind of jerks but for some reason I like it. I’m a mess, I know. So, here I am sitting at a park in a town that I don’t know with nothing but the clothes on my back. What do I do? Do I go back and risk my life? After what I saw I can’t be sure that I’d come out alive. I’ve known these guys for a week, so naturally when I walked in on – gah! I can’t even talk about it – I ran. What else could I do? But now… I’m not so sure that I should have. Something is telling me that I need to go back to them, and I have no idea why. Clearly, I’ve lost my mind, right?
The guys They finally find her and she’s gone just as quickly as she came. How do they fix this? How can they save themselves? They need her in order to do that, but how can they get her back after what she saw? Maddox, Lenny, Callan and Alec have a lot to work out amongst themselves, but now there is another issue to take care of. Getting Friday back. The good thing? They had nothing before, so now they have nothing to lose. They’ll do anything to get her back. Anything.
**This is Book 2 in The Road to Truth Series**
---DISCLOSURE--- This is a paranormal reverse harem story. There is adult content. There is m/m action. If any of this offends you, do not buy this book.
An interesting second book that picks up right from the first one, meaning it's definitely a series to read in order. And just like Friday we are learning about her guys and the supernatural things around them all slowly but surely. Within this second book not only do we continue to have that HOT paranormal why choose romance aspect but there's also now a building sense of mystery and danger. I'm hoping those 2 things continue to build a long with getting to see the relationship between all five characters deepen on a more emotional & mental level. Building physically is fine too but most of that is already pretty hot, maybe some more m\m interaction could add even more spice. But Overall it's a pretty good book with lots of potential that I'll definitely keep reading so I can find out what's next.
So TBH the first 3 books are kind of running together in my mind because I read them all in one day, a few days ago. Obviously, I enjoyed the series so far to read all 3 of those in one day! However, do note that this review kinda mixes them together.
The is reminiscent of sweet RH vibes, a la my fav Kathryn Moon's Sweet Omegaverse . There is the added multi-paranormal aspect which I find interesting. It's honestly not a paranormal-heavy plot until later in the series, and it very much reads as a standard RH romance in Book 1 most of the time.
So Friday starts off a really neat character in Book 1. She's leaving her cheating ex, trying to restart her life, but everything's going wrong. She resists Maddox's interest at first, which was very refreshing. She's like, "Uh, this is weird, who is this guy." TBH I hate how she treated the gas station guy, who was very sweet and could have added more to the story. However, she's starting to get my nerves in Book 4. I had the same problem with the Kit Davenport series, where the female MC just gets boring and only thinks about sex, even during important conversations about the plot. It ruins how good of a character she started out as.
For a RH, this was a okay take on our guys. We don't get bombarded with ALL of them ALL at once. However, they are kinda standard stereotypes (alpha, cute/friendly, nerd, loner). Even so, I found them enjoyable. Also, M/M! Yay!
The writing style could use an editor. There are typos and such. It's also, in general, very inner-monologue heavy. Sometimes that works, and sometimes not. There's also an aspect where the character is talking to the reader sometimes, which I personally don't like. There are a decent amount of dreams/nightmares/flashbacks that can disrupt the pacing, too. Also, (this is just me being nit-picky), the author provides WAY more info sometimes than you need or want. Like, I don't need to know what they eat for EVERY meal. I don't need to know Alec is wearing dark jeans EVERY time you go out. I don't need to know how Maddox took care of Lenny EVERY time we talk about everyone's shitty childhood.
My BIGGEST hold-up on this series, as a whole so far, is the smut. It's somewhere between fine and good . It's not great. IDK, it just needs more buildup, more oomph, more tension - something is just missing for me. Friday is a little sex fiend and is always horny, always thinking about how hot the guys are, and has many orgasms... maybe too many (it gets boring in later books).
In general, I've enjoyed it and think most people would like it.
This is a great book series that takes you on a journey through Friday's life. You get to know her and the guys thoroughly and it just makes you love everything more. Quell T. Fox does a great job at keeping you engaged and wanting to read more. I really couldn't put down these books.
The plot is great, the sex is awesome, the character development is exceptional, and it's easy to love all the characters and the rolls they play in learning what type of supernatural Friday is. As well as how they work towards their happy ever after with all of the baggage they each carry.
The second book had more grit to it and I enjoyed it more. We get more info about this new supernatural world and who the guys are, the pasta they have and more info on how the circle works. We also get some clues about Fridays past that may hint to her mother knowing something... The NHS are progressing and definitely ready for more.
Well I really enjoyed book one but this book phew! There’s a little bit of everything in this book. You learn a little more about the shy nerd in this one and learn to love each guy a little bit more. Friday gets to have lots of fun in this book, I was even jealous of her a few times! Great job Quell!
I'm really liking this series. I'm very curious to see where its going to go. As of right now I have no idea what to expect from this series. However I'm extremely excited to find out.
This serious just keeps getting better! I am intrigued to see what she is? Maybe a witch and that's why she is so drawn to Lenny? Lol idk but I'm ready for the next book. She fits so perfectly with them 😍
Heat heat heat! This story will wrap you up and refuse to let go! I love how each person in this group is so different but mesh so well. The storyline reads like a dream and the emotion from each character is so raw. I will definitely be reading book three in this series. Highly recommend!
We have a lot more character development in this one. We are getting flashback chapters for everyone (nearly!) which is giving us more insight but still leaving us with a sense of mystery and excitement about each character.
I like the way we are slowly learning about the reasons why the guys are as messed up as they are, the same as Friday is learning. Obviously we have slightly more insight than she does because we are seeing these nightmares/flashbacks and she isn’t but at the same time we really don’t understand anything yet.
There are clearly some huge plot points we have yet to know the answers too including who is after Friday and why they want her powers to be suppressed and what’s really going on with Alec and his demons.
I was slightly shocked by the twist with Alec and Friday but I kind of saw it coming, and honestly that cliffhanger, I think I’d already worked out that that’s what had happened in the last book. I guess it just didn’t shock me and either I clearly would have written this the same as the author and we think alike, or we were supposed to have picked up on this tidbit of information and it as meant to have been waved in our faces.
The character developments in this were great especially when we saw her being alone with the guys. Well we saw her alone with Callen and Maddox but not Alec, and we already know her relationship with Lenny has been growing since day one.
I think I was a bit annoyed? Disappointed? I’m not sure what I felt when she was more willing to forgive Alec for almost killing her, than Maddox for her walking in on him feeding. She seems more scared of Maddox than Alec which is bizarre. Maybe because vampires are ‘monsters’ but he’s just an air elemental so she doesn’t really see him as a threat?
Still haven’t been able to give this full 5* and I just can’t put my finger on why, maybe it’s because I have seen most things coming (except for Callen’s flashback which is totally messed up and I’m hoping nothing further happened in his childhood because damn I want to wrap him up in cotton wool and never let him go!).
I thought the book titles would give way to who we find out most about in each book, and I guess in a way we did find out the most about Callen, but the next one is Maddox and we’ve just ended on a cliffhanger for Alec. The titles confuse me at the moment but maybe they will line up with the character the book is titled after.
Alright book 2. Here we go. We start off immediately where we left off. Friday has just discovered more is going on with this group of guys than she could have ever imagined. Finding Callan takes further on her journey has she learns about the paranormal community and gets to know the guys, the good things, the bad things and honestly the scary things. One of my favorite thing about these characters is that they grow over the course of the series, but still stay very true to who they are. The first time I read this book, I ended it with wtf? It stops with that?! This time was no different. 🤣
This book is mostly about getting to know the guys. We find out more about Callan thru his nightmares. Friday takes time to feel more comfy around the guys especially Maddox. We also learn some things about Alec. There's some drama in this one and we learn a bit about Friday too thru dream memories. I'm enjoying the slow ride and the time to get to know everyone. It doesn't feel rushed to me even tho it actually takes place over a span of 3 weeks. Probably cuz it's been 2 books now n they are still on their trip. I look forward to more!
Finding Callan is the second book in The Road to Truth Series by Quell T. Fox. Again I could not book this book down. All of the guys and Friday are such real and raw characters that make you want to know more about them. The character development already is beyond amazing. The storyline and world building is so deep and keeps you interested in what is going to happen next. I love slowly learning more and more about everyone's past and what they've been through and what's helped shaped them into who they are now. That cliffhanger definitely has me needing to know more and is driving me crazy!
Going by the first two books this is going to be a bonza series. Oh sorry, please excuse my Australian terminology. I meant an excellent series. This second book has expanded the mystery that was just touched on previously and also has presented tantalising snippets of the guys past. There is so much that needs to be worked through before they all perfect their circle and so much yet to learn about them all. I love a good plot with great characterisation. Throw in the mystery, suspense and danger and this series has it all.
Natalie did a wonderful job with bringing Fridays story to life! I find it easier to get lost in a story when the voice matches the character. Book 2 finding Callan picks up where book 1 left off. There is a bit more world building in this one, but not enough to let me know what is going on or why someone would want to hurt them. I still enjoyed the character interactions and the way the relationship is progressing! I will continue on to the next book now.
Who has the time to sit and write a review for an amazing book when there are more in this series to read?! I am obsessed. I'm buying the next one right now and starting it immediately.
This second book in the Road To Truth series added so much context! There is more character and storyline development, more sexual buildup, and still a huge mystery over the main Heroine herself. I can't wait to find out who (and what) she is!
I absolutely loved this book! It kept you drawn in from the very beginning wanting more and to join them on their journey. It was action packed, steamy, well written, great story telling and did I mention a kick ass MFC and hot as sin men. Yum! Really great series and a definite MUST READ!!
I can't wait to start book two ! things are really starting to get good. I love getting in site on the guys past. I love how her relationship is growing with each of them. On to book 2l3!
I’ve been sucked into this world!!!! Friday is just a likeable character. Reading each character and their growth it just makes your heart happy! I’m emotionally involved and am immediately moving on to the next one.
Building a circle of paranormal mates with different backgrounds always leads to getting.acquainted. Call an is a math teacher and a genius. His past has left him jaded by rich parents who were selfish and neglected him. He has issues but wants to be with Friday our main character.
I love this series and I get kinda busy at work and I just had to log out so I could read. I promised myself I would make up the work after lol. It is an awesome story line.
Honestly if you loved the first book just do it pick this one up! I would recommend reading the first one before this one otherwise you will be confused.
Seriously phenomenal book. Another great from this author!!! Continuing character development that is believable and well done. You won't regret reading this series.
