This is book three in The Road to Truth Series. This series is complete, and the books are best read in order.
This series is part of the Arcane Bloodlines Universe. You will find multiple stand-alone series within this universe. Just look for the crest!
Woooow, I am seriously invested in this story and these characters. I can’t stop reading! I still love Callan and Lenny so much, and Maddox is sort of growing on me. He does need to change his attitude a bit more, though. Alex needs to hurry up and catch up.
So. I like the characters and the plotline is intriguing enough that I've managed to make it through three of these books. The reason I gave this two stars is because this whole series needs to be edited by a competent developmental editor. There are spelling and grammar errors all over the place and a strange dependency on nonsensical internal monologue moments. I haven't decided if I will continue reading the series or not.
So TBH the first 3 books are kind of running together in my mind because I read them all in one day, a few days ago. Obviously, I enjoyed the series so far to read all 3 of those in one day! However, do note that this review kinda mixes them together.
The is reminiscent of sweet RH vibes, a la my fav Kathryn Moon's Sweet Omegaverse . There is the added multi-paranormal aspect which I find interesting. It's honestly not a paranormal-heavy plot until later in the series, and it very much reads as a standard RH romance in Book 1 most of the time.
So Friday starts off a really neat character in Book 1. She's leaving her cheating ex, trying to restart her life, but everything's going wrong. She resists Maddox's interest at first, which was very refreshing. She's like, "Uh, this is weird, who is this guy." TBH I hate how she treated the gas station guy, who was very sweet and could have added more to the story. However, she's starting to get my nerves in Book 4. I had the same problem with the Kit Davenport series, where the female MC just gets boring and only thinks about sex, even during important conversations about the plot. It ruins how good of a character she started out as.
For a RH, this was a okay take on our guys. We don't get bombarded with ALL of them ALL at once. However, they are kinda standard stereotypes (alpha, cute/friendly, nerd, loner). Even so, I found them enjoyable. Also, M/M! Yay!
The writing style could use an editor. There are typos and such. It's also, in general, very inner-monologue heavy. Sometimes that works, and sometimes not. There's also an aspect where the character is talking to the reader sometimes, which I personally don't like. There are a decent amount of dreams/nightmares/flashbacks that can disrupt the pacing, too. Also, (this is just me being nit-picky), the author provides WAY more info sometimes than you need or want. Like, I don't need to know what they eat for EVERY meal. I don't need to know Alec is wearing dark jeans EVERY time you go out. I don't need to know how Maddox took care of Lenny EVERY time we talk about everyone's shitty childhood.
My BIGGEST hold-up on this series, as a whole so far, is the smut. It's somewhere between fine and good . It's not great. IDK, it just needs more buildup, more oomph, more tension - something is just missing for me. Friday is a little sex fiend and is always horny, always thinking about how hot the guys are, and has many orgasms... maybe too many (it gets boring in later books).
In general, I've enjoyed it and think most people would like it.
Ooooh I had a sneaky suspicion that Friday would be what she is when it turned out they thought the prophet was lying/misleading them!
Callen and Lenny are so sweet, Maddox is a grumpy bugger but I think he is great. Alec needs to get on board with this bonding.
I’m slightly annoyed that the end of the last book Alec mentioned about what happened with his mother yet we literally get NO FURTHER INFORMATION in this book.
We meet a new important character in the “whisper” which I have theories on.
It’s quite cool seeing the guys getting new powers.
There are still lots of unanswered questions but we are only half way through the series so it makes sense we don’t know the answers to everything
This is a great book series that takes you on a journey through Friday's life. You get to know her and the guys thoroughly and it just makes you love everything more. Quell T. Fox does a great job at keeping you engaged and wanting to read more. I really couldn't put down these books.
The plot is great, the sex is awesome, the character development is exceptional, and it's easy to love all the characters and the rolls they play in learning what type of supernatural Friday is. As well as how they work towards their happy ever after with all of the baggage they each carry.
I'm not sure I will ever not love these characters. As we ended the last book with a huge confession from Alec, we find ourselves right back there to start this new part of the adventure. We spend this book getting to know our boys more, well as much as these traumatized, guarded guys will let us. Life transitions from the road, as the characters settle back into their home life and head back to work. Anyone else up to just always picture Alec sweaty, greasy and working on cars? Can't just be me! We also make huge progress onto figuring out how exactly Friday fits into the paranormal world.
In this book we learn more of the four males dreadful childhoods and how that has helped shaped their characters. No matter what their flaws, Friday has fallen for them all and they have fallen for her. But danger shadows them all. The mystery surrounding Friday also thickens. Just what type of supernatural is she and why can’t she access her powers. This is nail biting suspense. I can’t wait to see what the next book reveals. I thoroughly recommend you read this series.
So much filler. Honestly, the author seems to forget the things that were already written. The purple suitcase for one. Why did it take forever to go see the prophet? They take no active part in trying to figure out what is going on until the last possible minute. What in the world? It’s like the author wants to drag the story out to sell more books. Not sure I’m going to make it to the end.
Natalie continues to provide a wonderful listening experience! Book 3 picks right up where book 2 ended. This book is great for letting us know a bit mroe about the boys past and how good of a man Maddox is really. The fact that he at 12 took care of Lenny. I know it was mentioned through the series, but in this one we actually get more details. Friday's boys may all be a little bruised, but with the presence of Friday they are all healing.
Okay...so is it just me or was Friday annoying the last part of book 2 and most of this book? I'm not sure if maybe there's some kind of spell on her or if its natural...I'm hoping its a spell...because I feel like she's aged down in how she's thinking and talking vs how she was most of the first two books...I mean she's 27 which I fully felt in the beginning of the series but recently its giving barely 18. 🤷🏽♀️
The title is a little misleading. Yes it is about Maddox, Alec , Call an and Lenny. I really can't say it focuses more on Maddox than anyone else. Except for his foul temper. I hope it wasn't the authors intention to make me. fall in love with him. I married him and the a remained cruel and gave meaning to the term gaslighting. No love foe Maddox!
This has probably been my favorite book in the series so far! You gain a lot more information in this book and grow closer to each character as you learn more. There’s some really hot scenes in this book and a few that had me saying “no freaking way?!” Excited for the next book to see where this all leads!
I love this series! I am so excited to see where this story is going. The guys are so amazing. I am definitely team Alec. I want more of him. This ending has me frustrated but luckily there is another one!
So I kinda figured Friday was somebody super important! Why else would people want her dead?! Why now and not before! I am on edge reading when the man could see her in her dream! She most be really powerful!! Ready for the next book
I'm loving this series. I love the relationship growth as well as the sexual. Prefect amount of steam and sweet. Was expecting Friday to be something a little more exciting, but I'm sure I'll find out more in the next book ! can't wait!
Finding Maddox is as fantastic as the first two (three including the prequel) books in the series. I loved learning more about the guys in this book and more explanation of the characters including some super hot bedroom scenes.
I love this series and can't wait to read the next book!! I am so enthralled with the characters I can really feel who they are and the descriptions of their clothes makes me feel like I am in the room.
This is my third book and I highly recommend this series, especially when you need a sweet and heart-warming storyline to bring your smut out. It was a super easy to read reverse harem with the sweetest guys and their sexy cupcake.
This series just got a whole lot darker. I feel like we're steadily digging in to some big issues, and I can't wait to find out what in the hell is going on!
This is book three and a great continuation of the story. I love Friday and her men. I think I might like Callan the most though. Maddox , well I'm sure he'll adjust his attitude soon. I really like how all the guys are different. The story is keeping my interest and I'll keep reading the series
