Meira Amon is the most reserved of the phoenixes, finding computers easier to deal with than people and their messy emotions. But she wants revenge against the Rotting King Pytheios for the murder of her parents just as much as her sisters. Offering herself as a queen for their ally, dragon shifter King Gorgon of the Black Clan, only makes sense.

Just one problem…

Samael Veles worked his lowborn ass off to become the fiercest warrior of the Black Clan. He has pledged his life to protect his king at all costs. Yet somehow, in the middle of war, he took one look at a woman in a reflection and gave up his heart. When that woman turns out to be the phoenix promised to mate his king and help bring peace to their kind, he has no choice but to accept it.

Until her fire unexpectedly destroys the king after they’ve wed. Now Samael must choose between his loyalty to his clan and protecting the queen who might be his mate from his people’s wrath, one of which will unlock a destiny no one could have ever imagined…

Killer Quidditch!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 👤👤👤👤👤

The setting: Mount Ararat, Turkey-Black Dragons; Mount Everest, Nepal-Red Dragons; Ben Nevis, Scotland-Blue Dragons; Store Skagastølstind, Norway-Gold Dragons; The Andes, South America-Rogue Dragons; Gargoyle Castle-Hidden

The Hero(s): Samael Veles – worked hard to make it from his meager beginnings to the Captain of the royal guard of the Black Dragon Clan though he doesn’t have royal blood. The Black King Gorgon trusts him above all others.

The heroine: Meira Amon - one of the quadruplets of the last Phoenix. Both her mother and father were killed by the Red King. She has promised to mate with the Black King Gorgon who seems to be a very good person. However, at the time of mating, if the mating is not approved by the fates or one of their hearts is not in it, the flames of the Phoenix can burn the Dragon King to ashes (not totally unfair because most dragons mate with human women and the human women can similarly be burned to ashes by Dragon fire).

The Love Story: Samael first sees Meira when she is using one of her special Phoenix powers. She is able to use any mirror as a sort of two way mirror that she can see through and she is also able to turn it into a portal. She was looking in a mirror at an event that one of her sisters and her husband the Gold King were having when Samael saw her in the mirror. He shouldn’t have been able to see her but he did and immediately knew she was his fated mate. Though Phoenix’s are for mating with Royalty so he knew he could never have her.

I have been waiting for this one. I love this series. It is about Six Kings and only one can be the High King. That is the Dragon Shifter King that mates with the Phoenix. In order to become the High King, the Red King killed the Phoenix and her Mate. However, the Phoenix (and there has only ever been one at a time), had quadruplets whom she hid from the Red King. Two of her phoenix daughters have already mated to the Gold King and the Blue King in the first two books.

I have to say, I am in love with the covers of these books, but I don’t understand why the first one was red if it was about the King of the gold dragon clan and this one was green when it was about the Black clan. The second was blue, which was correct as it was about the King of the blue clan, so I guess I just wish the colors were more reminiscent of the books themselves.

The character development and story were great as well. It continued the saga of the Evil Red King trying to remain High King and rule over all the dragon shifters. He is unmated and has lived far beyond his years for an unmated dragon and he is rotting away. However, he has a witch that has helped him stay alive by feeding off other supernatural creatures. I like that these books are standalone within a series and even though there is an overlying story going through the books. Abigail Owens does a great job at making these so you can easily pick up the new one without having to reread the last books. You can even pick up any one and start from there, though I would read the series from the start. I loved every book.

Lastly, I loved the fight scenes with the dragons. It was like a game of killer Quidditch with all those souls flying around in the sky trying to best each other. Great stuff and it looks like the next book is shaping up to be the best of the bunch.

I enjoyed it, but after waiting for this release for months, it left me slightly disappointed.

I felt like the plot was a bit all over the place with a lot of back and forth and it didn't grip me enough.

I liked the main characters but I felt like they needed to show more emotion and more connection (besides the whole "I'm attracted to you because we're fated")

There was just something missing and the story lacked the necessary emotion.

I still wanna read the last book about Angelika and see hoe everything will be wrapped up.

The Warrior King by Abigail Owens
Book 3 of the Inferno Rising series, a companion series of Fire’s Edge. Dragon and Phoenix shifter paranormal romance. Best read as part of the series.
The third of four Phoenix sisters agrees to marry the King of the Black Dragons but their first kiss burns him to ashes. Is it Fate or choice when a Phoenix and a Dragon successfully share their fire and mate?
Samael and his dragon are sure that Meira is their mate but he’s been a soldier all his life. Sam doesn’t believe he deserves her yet he can’t resist either.

War still battles among the clans with the threat of the Rotting King Pytheios always waiting and manipulating and killing where he can for power.
Meira knows how to play the political alliance game and uses her magic to help win the battles.

I wish Sam had been a little less self sacrificing. Sure, he’s honorable but I was frustrated that he thought he had to give Meira up over and over again.
Interesting development with Maul, the hellhound.
I can’t wait for the next sister’s story and potentially the end of the Rotting King?

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

The battle against the evil red king continues. Now it's the Black clan in the lead and another sister to be wed the king. But wait the dragon in love with her isn't the king. What's going to happen? Lots and lots of drama and adventure along with love to get to the end. Plus some old friends (or enemy's?) from Fire's Edge series make an appearance and help. Of course, the evil red king is still alive, but there is another sister to find her king and hopefully, finally end the red king.

"You may be queen, but I'm the new king."

The author left us hanging big time in the last installment with Miera revealing herself as another Phoenix sister and immediately proposed an alliance with the Black dragon king with herself as the bride in a political marriage of convenience.

Which wouldn't be so shocking in Romancelandia if Miera hadn't already experienced a hot and heavy connection with another dragon guy! *gasp*

Sam just so happens to be Miera's soon to be husband - King Gorgon's right hand man, a warrior unchallenged and 100% loyal to his king and his people. A loyalty that almost breaks him when his dragon finally feels the mating pull only to find out it's for his future queen.

Needless to say, this book is a roller coaster ride of will they, wont they and a ton of push and pull from both sides. There is angst, low simmer heat and a slow burn, developing romantic connection between these two that will keep you riding the edge. Overall another great addition to the series and I'm hooked waiting for Angelika's turn :)

Miera and Sam's story follows the same villain as the previous two books in the series and we get little cameos of Sky and Kas :) It also has the same level of action, suspense and romance as the others. Bonus points for making me laugh out loud with the whole Kraken talk! I'm a sucker for genuine humor and this scene was definitely memorable :)

I really liked Miera, personally the most relatable of the three sisters (so far) but she has a narrow minded focus on being a martyr that sometimes frustrated me to no end. I wanted her to use that analytical mind to finding a way to be happy and help bring down the baddie instead of calmly accepting her fate. She does grow into a stronger and more outspoken person but the role reversal of denying the mating pull was not for me.

Which is why I think I love Sam so much more! He is definitely Hero material and I loved all of his complex characteristics. He's a devoted warrior, who loves his king and sees him as a father figure. So watching him come to terms with his true feelings for Miera and the dangerous position they find themselves in was angsty to the extreme.

Yet he still managed to admire, respect, befriend and ultimately fall in love with Miera.

The plot does sound a little cheat-y but I took into consideration the following:
- marriage of convenience, so no emotional or physical connection between Miera and Gorgon.
- Although both Sam and Miera feel something brewing between them, they don't interact or let anything intimate happen until they both think they are free to do so.

In the end, Gorgon made such seldom appearances that I might have forgotten him a few times while reading #sorrynotsorry and I liked Sam too much to hold this against him :) I will say that I wish there had been better closure between Gorgon and Sam towards the end. It felt too rushed and like a lot was left unspoken between them.

Favorite Moments/Quotes:
Kraken Sex Talk
"Makes you wonder how mermaids get it on."
"Or water nymphs," he murmurred.
"Or the kraken."

"Gives a whole new meaning to 'release the kraken,' don't you think?"

Maul's Send Off
(without giving spoilers!) I loved Maul and I was so happy my spidey senses were right on this one!
Legend had that hellhounds were warriors with unfinished business, returned in the form of death incarnate to complete it.

Talk about meant to be and caught between a rock and a hard place. Abigail Owen’s THE WARRIOR KING combines a sweet, slow-burn romance and the edgy, fast and furious battles of dragon against dragon.

Meira has offered herself to the king of the Black Clan. Not only has she found herself an honorable leader, but the perfect opportunity to avenge her parents’ deaths.

Samael is the fiercest warrior in the Black Clan, his loyalty to his king has never been questioned, but from the first time he saw the beautiful phoenix, Meira, his dragon was determined to make her his mate and the flames of destiny are burning. Disaster strikes and now he must keep the young Queen safe, but safe form an enemy or safe from his own feelings?

Abigail Owen has balanced romance, passion and the suspense of impending battle with the precision of a surgeon. Brilliantly told, non-stop and magnetic, the pace flows perfectly and the romance is sweet!

4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I want to start by saying that the cover is all wrong. Green? Why green when Samael is a black dragon. He fought hard those green bastards actually. Anyways..moving on. I thought that the 3 rd sister,Meira,is gonna be submissive, meek and voiceless but imagine my surprise when I discovered she was not, and that she was a powerful Phoenix that could stand her own easily. Her power with the glass surface was pretty badass.
Samael, Captain of the King’s Guard, is trying very hard to keep away from.the woman that bewitched him from that first glimpse in the mirror , until her mating to his king goes all wrong and he has to protect her.

I really liked this instalment in the series, Meira and Sam are a great pair that completes eachother.
It's full of action, strategies and battles against the still very much alive and irritating rotten king and his followers. Many revelations are made and a very loved character dies ,but also new alliances are made. It's a thrilling world this author had created and I wouldn't mind some spin off series for the gargoyles, the wolves and maybe the rougue dragons (looking at you Rune).

Looking forward for Angelika's and Airk book. A powerless Phoenix and a broken king.

A delightful addition to one of my favorite shifter series! Like all the other books in this series, I finished it in less than a day.

Packed with sexual tension and a romance in which both parties deny the connection due to a sense of duty. It's fast-paced so fortunately, we don't have to see our leads struggle for too long. The thing about this series so far I've liked almost every book about the same. Which honestly a rather impressive feat because often times in series where the main leads change, I usually have a bias couple but with series I am not sure I do.

Main Leads:
Meira is a kind, responsible empath who, in an effort to do what she sees as best for her family and world, offers to marry the king of the Black Clan to reinforce an alliance between his clan and the clans of her two mated sisters. However, she never predicted that her groom would be kidnapped and replaced by an imposter on the day they were to be mated. Nor did she expect to find her heart yearning for another while on a quest to find her missing betrothed.

Samuel is a man of great strength and fierce loyalty. He rose through the ranks of from a mere commoner of little worth in his clan to the king's closet guard. But things grow complicated as he finds himself fighting his feelings more his king's intended bride. If that were not enough, things take a turn for the worst when his king, the man he views as both a mentor and a friend, goes missing and he forced to go searching for him with the very woman he cannot stop thinking about.

I adored our OTP and as always with this series was this book an easy and entertaining read. One thing I don’t understand is why in the world the cover is Green? Like this isn’t about the Green Clan lol

Another action packed and exciting installment in the Inferno Rising series! This one sees Meira Amon, one of 4 Phoenix sisters, convinced that she should marry the Black Clan King Gorgon, a marriage of convenience for sure but one that is necessary to help the clans in their fight against the Red King Pytheios who is responsible for her parents' demise. But her plans are changed drastically when things beyond her control leave her with Samael Valas, the fiercest warrior of the Black Clan in a fight for their lives.

I love that each sibling has had their own special power, and Meira's is certainly a unique one. She can see through mirrors and clear surfaces to what is going on in other places, and she can also travel through them (and bring people with her). Usually no one can see her when she is observing through a mirror, but to her surprise, Samael notices her watching them in the early days before she is betrothed to his King - and she realizes that he can see her. This is because they are fated mates as it turns out, making this a complicated love triangle since Meira has made promises to Gorgon, and Samael's ultimate loyalty is to his King even though his inner dragon knows that Meira belongs with him. The story takes many twists and turns with lots of surprises as Meira and Samael fight their feelings for each other, though they inevitably give in to the passion between them. Things do eventually work out for them to get their happy ending. While this is a complete couple romance, the overall story arc and worldbuilding continue through this series, and through the linked Fire's Edge series. I recommend all the stories in the series and look forward to the finale!

Okay, I should have read the first two books before this one, but I figured it out well enough. This book has a different couple than the others so we see their story unfold from the beginning. Meira is the third phoenix sister and it's her turn to mate a dragon king. She's promised to Gorgon, the Black Clan king, but she has an intense attraction to his top warrior Samael.

When things get crazy, Samael takes Meira on the run to keep her safe. In their time together, they explore their bond and grow closer. I loved their connection and the idea of fated mates. Sam is so protective of Meira, yet he also knows she's powerful and let's her do what she needs to do. Meira also gains confidence from Sam and comes into her strength.

This had good pacing and some cool dragon fighting scenes. I like the different clans and how the phoenixes fit in. I plan to go back and catch up with the other books, then see how things end up in book four!

In the first book we get a moment when Meira  uses her power to see what her sisters are up to by looking through a mirror. While her power is supposed to be one way, she is caught by one of the dragon warriors that are in the room with her sister. Then when she meets up with her sister, she pledges herself to the black dragon king, only to run right into the dragon who saw her in the mirror. With Meira  pledged to Samael's king, she denies the pull she feels for Samael in order to help join the remaining dragon kings and making a strong alliance in taking down the corrupt high king of all dragons.

This was a story that I was interested in seeing. I mean, you thought for use that the guy she sees in the mirror will be her mate, but then she pledges herself to someone else not realizing that that person is the guy's king and mentor. Then as she spends time with her intended, and ultimately spends time with the guy she's actually drawn to, you can't help but cringe as she goes through the mating ceremony in front of the entire black clan. I felt so bad for Samael to have to witness this "marriage" when his dragon is literally clawing and screaming inside to be let out and claim what's his. There's some other stuff that happens, but I don't want to ruin the story for you.

I just really liked Meira  and Samael as characters. Samael was not a royal born dragon. So to many fellow dragons he would be considered nothing. However, when the king took him under his wing and gave him the chance to bet he commander of the fleet, he's been able to build up his status and gain the support of his fellow dragons. So, when Samael realizes that his mate is the woman who has pledged herself to his king, he does everything he can to fight the pull her feels for her. He buries it down deep, and does his job. Meira is someone who has always been a bit shy and always complies with those around her. However, throughout this story we see her start to stand her ground and stand up for herself. Plus, we realize that her power is a huge asset in a battle. She knows what her duty is, and even though she is drawn to Samael, she will not back down from the path she has chosen.

Watching these two suffer and battle against their mating pull was rough to witness, but it really showed their true character. I respected both of them for being able to put their duty above their feelings. Not only is this story about them fighting against their feelings, but the high king has something up his sleeve and it seems like every time these characters feel like they're able to catch their breath, another dragon battle ensues. Which is one of the things that I enjoyed about this story... all the epic battle scenes. There was always something going on to where we got to see these dragon fighters in action. It was highly engaging.

If you're in the mood for a paranormal romance revolving around dragons, I would pick up this series. I have really enjoyed not only the pairings that have popped up, but the story as a whole. There was never a dull moment during these stories and I really look forward to the next story in the book.

The Warrior King is such an amazing addition to the Inferno Rising series! Like the other books in the series, I adored the dynamically developed protagonists, vivid world-building, and immersive plot. The dangerous and death-defying action sequences are suspenseful and exciting, and the surprise twists left me speechless (and a little weepy). Plus, the romance is fantastic!!

The story focuses on Meira and Samael and their part in trying to find the black dragon king and helping to defeat Pytheios. At the start of the story, Meira agrees to mate Gorgon, the leader of the black dragon clan. When the mating goes horrifically wrong, Meira flees with Samael, who has sworn to protect her. Meira and Samael determine to find out what happened to Gorgon and Pytheios’ role in Gorgon’s disappearance.

Though Meira makes a commitment to Gorgon, Samael is her fated mate. Neither can refute their feelings, but both feel their future together is hopeless. Samael must fulfill his vow and protect Meira for Gorgon, even if it kills him to resist his feelings and see her with another. Meira is determined to do whatever it takes to fight against Pytheios. However, neither can fully resist their feelings, and the longer they are together, the more impossible this becomes. The romance between Samael and Meira is angst-filled, chemistry-laden swoon-tasticness!

All of the sisters have different abilities, and Meira can teleport using reflective surfaces. Meira is also an empath, which I found so fascinating. Feeling other people’s emotions threatens to consume her, but it also makes her a stronger and more compassionate person. Both of her abilities prove indispensable as she and Samael travel to different places and meet a variety of friends and foes.

Meira is technologically skilled and loves working on computers. Her advanced technical knowledge comes in handy when surrounded by so many threats, as she capably makes masterful and protective security systems. She is also very kind, nurturing, and gentle, attributes that endear her to others. Meira has such a big heart, and she always seems more concerned about others before herself. However, just because she is soft does not mean she is weak. She is as strong as her sisters, and I love that she learns this as the story progresses. You see her come into her own throughout the book, and her confidence, self-assuredness, and leadership abilities are undeniable. So are her feelings for Samael.

Samael is a powerful and fierce warrior torn between his duty and loyalty to his king and his love for Meira. He is so conflicted and selfless, and he is willing to sacrifice his own needs for the good of his people. A true leader, Samael also goes on a journey of self-discovery, and as he learns more about his leader, Meira, and himself, Samael must face his feelings. This proves difficult, as Samael has some pretty large walls to break down.

The animals are a lovely and fun addition to the story. I particularly love Vincent Van Goat. He is playful and cute, and he has the best goat name ever! Maul, the hellhound and protector of the sisters, is another one of my favorites, and his role becomes quite significant in this book. Maul has amazing abilities and is fiercely protective of the sisters, and the revelations about Maul are shocking, a bit heartbreaking, and powerful.

I loved this story, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in the series! The action, the romance, the fantastical elements, the immense world-building, the wonderful characters, the imagery, and more make for an exciting and captivating read. Thanks so much to Entangled, Abigail Owen, and NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Just like the previous two books, I devoured The Warrior King. It had so much drama, betrayal, and sexual tension throughout it. Plus, I liked seeing Meira's sisters and Maul in this one. I mean, their mates are cool too. I will admit that I was a smidge sad for Meira in the beginning. Mostly because she was choosing to marry just for the sake of marrying the King of the Black Clan dragons. She didn't find her true mate like her sisters ended up doing before her. She also didn't believe in the whole true mate thing either.

Well, she didn't until Samael. Now these two had sparks, chemistry, and so much tension. I loved and ate it all up. It wasn't hard falling for them but it was hard seeing them pretend that there was nothing going on.

In the end, it was cute and I was shocked by some things. Definitely intrigued to see what's going to happen with her sister next.

Finished another Inferno Rising installment and this time around I'm a liiiitle bit disappointed unfortunately.

I really liked this world from the get go in book 1, and how it all expanded throughout book 2. The set up of the story-line and development of everything like among other things the politics, the action, the character developments, combined with some smutty romances throughout all books was overall well done... The set of characters is to die for and I can't get enough of them all.

So I was super duper excited to read this story of Sam and Meira after having loved the first 2 books in the series. But despite how hard the author tried to put down a believable set of MC's and developing romance between them, I just didn't 100% 'feel it'. Up front, I had a feeling that Sam and Meira's romance development could've been the best in the series so far, so I'm really bummed out that it wasn't entirely working for me.

Some small developments here and there related to their romance development also didn't really line up with me, and seeing the romance is quite a big part of the story I just wasn't really able to rate it any higher than 3 stars.

I did enjoy being present in this world again, though. The story development in general keeps being interesting so I'm definitely planning on reading the next book in the series when it comes out.

Even though I wasn't entirely IN LOVE with some things in this book, it was overall a fast paced read and the author's writing style is something I enjoy as well as the fact that I love the dragon(shifter) elements in this series. If you like paranormal romance that has dragon shifters, this series is definitely one I'd suggest picking up. These books are ones that are just easy to lose yourself in and experience an enjoying read.

I was given an e-arc by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for me leaving an honest review.

Meira Amon is the third Phoenix in the series and the third sister in the story.

At first glance, she appears very reserved and a completely normal woman, with a huge love for all strays.

She hasn't shown any signs of Phoenix powers yet, so she assumes she's the only one of her sisters without any special powers.

In desperation, she tries to make the best of it and asks to be the mate of the Black Dragon King.

Samael Veles is the most powerful warrior among the Black Dragons.
He has dedicated his life to the king and to the idea of being the best soldier of all time.

His king is his best friend and mentor.
The soldiers respect him.
His life is perfect.
Until he meets his future queen.

This book is incredibly exciting and thrilling.
A beautiful romance and action-packed story.
I really enjoyed the fast-paced and gripping page-turner.

Now there's only one book left in this amazing series.

THE WARRIOR KING is the third book in the Inferno Rising series, and this time it is the time of the Black Clan and Meira. She has promised herself to Gorgon, the King of the Black Clan before she realised that Samael was her mate. Of course, she has been told for years that phoenixes can choose and so she doesn't have quite as much faith in the whole 'fated mates' thing as others do. Samael, on the other hand, does believe in fated mates, but he also believes in loyalty, and so he refuses to do anything about it when Meira is with Gorgon.

This was an amazing addition to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed books one and two, but this one? This one blew them right out of the water! And I don't know why! I know it sounds like I'm disappointed, I'm not. I just wish I could say more clearly WHY I thought this one was better. Is it because I ended up in tears over the death of a faithful friend? Maybe. Is it because of the sensual, slow-burn, forbidden love romance between Samael and Meira? Possibly. Or maybe it was the intermingling of technology and magic? Could be.

Whatever the reason, I was fully engrossed in this story, fully invested in whether Samael and Meira would end up together, and even though I hoped that would be the case, I was desperate to know HOW they managed it.

Although this finishes with a HEA, it also gives us a teaser for Angelika. Bless her, I don't think she's going to have it easy either. I really can't wait for this series to continue.

Absolutely amazing and highly recommended.

When I finished the last book I was really looking forward to Meira and Samael's book, but didn't think it was this one. At the time, all we had was a cover and no synopsis. So how could I not think it wasn't theirs when Samael's dragon isn't green. When we finally got that synopsis, I was pretty happy that we really were getting their story. But I still don't know why the cover is green...

As much as I was looking forward to these two's story, I was actually pretty let down with it. It wasn't until around the last 30% of the book that things finally started to get more interesting. The rest of it seemed like a whole lot of nothing was really happening. Sure, we go places and learn things, but everything considered, Samael and Meira really didn't do a whole heck of a lot. Plus, the thing that I liked most about what little we got of Meira was that she was a quiet, logical girl who didn't mind having a protector. But in a matter of days she completely changed. While Samael appreciated her growing into her role and finding her voice, I didn't really think that it worked. At least not so damn fast.

Meira has decided that the best way to help her sisters and to take down the rotting king is to mate the black clan's king, Gorgon. Despite her immediate attraction to Samael, she believes that Gorgon would be kind and good mate. The ceremony starts off well enough. That is until the rotting king takes over every screen in every clan to decree that the Amon sisters are false phoenixes and he has a true one. It only gets worse when Meira burns Gorgon to death with her fire (not a spoiler, it's right in the synopsis). But everything is not as it seems and now Samael must protect his new queen as promised while not allowing the connection between them to grow. Easier said than done on both accounts. The black clan condemns her as the murderer of their king and all are questioning the validity of her being a phoenix. Now add an angry gold dragon into the mix who always seems to know where they are as well and you get fun times. And the more he's around her, the more Samael is sure that Meira is his fated mate. Something Meira tries hard to fight because she doesn't believe in fate.

Now, you would think it would be a whirlwind of activity around these two as they try to find out where the real Gorgon is and rescue him. But it's not. They hang out with the gargoyles for a bit, visit the sisters' last home, and hide in Kasia's old cabin. They make a single attempt to tell the black clan that their king is alive, and they don't actually do anything to find Gorgon.

When Samael receives devastating news, these two make a decision that there will be no coming back from. Which only creates more tension and complications in the future when they finally return to the black clan. Here is were things picked up though. Gorgon has returned, though not in the same health as when he was taken. He has suffered at the rotting king's hands and forced to bear witness to something that, though false, appears true to all. Which was super frustrating as a reader because I wanted them to figure it out! Fortunately, he might have been beaten, but he was not broken. Which leads to a vicious battle between numerous dragon clans, with the sisters doing all they can to get the black dragons the backup they desperately need. There were too many deaths to call it a victory, but in the end a third clan has their phoenix queen. And I'm looking forward to the final book.

I will say that the coolest, and saddest, part of this book was with Maul. Though I do kind of wish it would have happened in the last book and not this one.

I thought there could be no way for Owen to top the amazing romances of the first two books in the series. I was wrong. Meira and Samael are an against-the-odds couple—true fated mates that will make a paranormal romance reader crave their happily ever after.

From their interested-at-first-sight meet cute to all the obstacles in the way of them being together, Owen keeps the plot twisting and the action coming. There are phoenix powers, a sisterhood to envy, hot dragon shifters, and a bad guy who I can’t wait to see go down at the end of the series. But each book has a satisfying ending of its own, and this couple’s ability to overcome all the odds is a sweet but steamy one. Lots of steam. Prepare to fan yourself.

You guys!!!!!!!!!!!! Why can't I live in this world? I'm so incredibly in love with everything about this world and the characters in it..even the "bad guys". I'm officially requesting to be reincarnated as a Dragon's mate. There. I said it.

To be honest, I"m not entirely sure what number book this is in the series. Mainly because I've read every book in this one as well as the previous series and if I start counting, it means there will be an ending and I"m not ready for that....at all. Yes, I'm in denial. But I digress.....

Samael is basically the head of the Guard for the Black Dragon clan. Although he doesn't come from a royal bloodline, he's moved his way up through the rankings because King Gordon has trusted him with not only his life, but the lives of all in the clan. Which is why he's been tasked with protecting the new queen no matter what. Well...that's easier said than done considering the queen is supposed to mate with the King, only things don't go quite as planned. And now the fates have intervened, forcing him to admit things he shouldn't.

Meira is one of the four Phoenix' that have been in hiding for centuries. Now that two of her sisters have mated Dragon Kings, it appears as though mating one herself is in the cards for her as well. So in order to help the clans defeat the High King, she has chosen to mate the Black King. There's one problem though. Ever since she saw Samael in her mirror, she's been looking for him, not the King. Oh, and did I mention that there's an issue with the mating ceremony? Yikes!!!! Hopefully her protector will come to the rescue...in more ways than one.

There is SOOOOO much that happens in this book. But there's also no way I'll be revealing any of it. Why? Because there are things that you need to read and learn for yourself....and because I'm not ruining moments for you. If you've read the other books in this series and you haven't read this one yet, what are you waiting for? If you haven't read ANY of the books in this series yet, don't start with this one. Start from the beginning and buckle up, because it's the best ride EVER!!!!!!

As this one starts out you sort of wonder about Meira, could she have done the unthinkable? Of course not, this is just people taking advantage of things and trying to put her in a bad light. It's a good thing that she has Samael there to save her. The two of them have some crazy chemistry, but Meira is promised to Gorgon and she won't change the chance to save the dragons for anyone, even herself. It makes for some tense times between the two. But as things change they need to face their fate and it looks like they might have made the wrong choice. Turns out in the end it didn't matter and while they might have won this battle things are not over yet.

This is the third book in the Inferno Rising series. I already reviewed the first book, which is a fast-paced adventure tale featuring dragon shifters and fated mates. That and the second book are full of snappy, sassy dialogue, which I enjoy. This story follows the third sister, Meira, who is far more serious and has decided to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and make a loveless marriage to aid the Black Clan dragons.

She’s got chemistry with Samael, Gorgon’s trusted wing man, but she doesn’t believe in mates and Samael won’t do anything that might harm his king. So there’s no communication between Meira and Samael as we get filled in on what has gone before.

The book is off to a slow start, the slower because there are four sisters, so by now we know that the evil villain is not going to be defeated in this book, until the fourth sister gets her story. And there is all that explanation, backstory, and so forth up at the front. Still, once things go haywire and Meira is on the run, with Samael sworn to protect her, the pacing begins to accelerate, and we get plenty of action, dragon fights, and the emotional roller coaster that Abigail Owen delivers so well in this series.

This is more of a slow burn (until it isn’t, woo!) as Meira and Samael don’t communicate and keep their feelings hidden for a long time. However, things turn out satisfactorily—this is a shifter romance, and the author delivers.

It wasn’t my favorite, but still a worthy entry in the series—with enough action and emotional pizazz in the last third to promise the fourth book should be a real humdinger!

THE WARRIOR KING is another fantastic installment in a shifter series. The Inferno Rising series follows four sisters who are phoenixes. Among the dragon shifters, the king of the kings is always the person who is mated by a phoenix - only one exists at a time, until now. Meira has decided to mate the black dragon king for the alliance it would bring with her sisters' mates' clans. The currently self-declared high king has other plans, which include getting rid of the phoenixes and continuing to control all the dragons with his corrupt rule.

On her wedding night, Meira tries to mate the king, but she soon discovers that he is an imposter when her fire destroys him and the glamour disappears. With the seeming death of the king and clearly dangerous plots afoot, she flees with the leader of the guard for the clan, Samael. As they flee for their safety, they find that they are unable to deny the current that has always run between them- that of a true fated mate.

However, with the dangerous wars around them and politics that make their union complicated, Meira and Samael have a long way to go before they can accept the bond. This was another great installment, with lots of action, intensely delicious tension, and plenty of romance. The overarching plot that is threaded through the series is advanced here, but I really appreciate that the couple and their relationship takes the forefront of the story. The overarching plot is a minor part of the book overall, and this works well for me, as I am really here for the romance.

The intensity, romance, and push-pull makes for a delightful read. With a world that has been carefully crafted and continued in this book, THE WARRIOR KING is a fantastic and unputdownable paranormal romance. Highly recommend for fans of Donna Grant.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

It's time to turn up the heat
Ohh boy! From the blurb to the last page this book was one raging inferno after another. The author kept up the excitement and danger from her previous books and threw in some curves that no one saw coming. I love the characters! The choices they had to make for the greater good would seem impossible, but in the end they manage to find that elusive HEA that we all seek. The author continues to bring me back with her ability to spin a yarn and, as always, leaves me desperately waiting for the next installment. This book was such a fantastic addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what she thinks up to top it next.

After I realized that I started the series way into a world that was already built, I backtracked and now completely understand 100% of what this world really is.

Even without knowing that, these books are well written and informative enough that I did realize I didn’t start at the right point. This is book 4 in this specific series so I do recommend going back to read them all!

This book is about the sweet sister, Meira. The one who loves technology but also loved the medieval lifestyle. Her mother sent her off to stay with the Gargoyles knowing she would be cared for and most comfortable. Her give of being able to see and transport through mirrors allowed her to keep track of her sisters and know what was happening in the world. That lead her into making a choice to mate with the King of the Black dragons.

On her wedding day, everything went wrong. She pines for another man, Samael, but is committed to mating Gorgon and when she is about to tie herself to him in a way that is permanent the worst happens he burns up in her flames. Samael has to choose between protecting his mate or his clan. A difficult choice but ultimately protects Meira while trying to find a way to fix things.

Their relationship is an interesting one. He is loyal to his King but craves his mate. He is so conflicted and she is as well that they want to do what’s right rather than what’s fated.

Personally I didn’t like Meira like I do her sisters. I love her quirkiness but I feel like her bravery is a little forced and conflicts with who she is. I have no problem with that in the grand scheme but I wish she was more sure of herself. Samael is a typical alpha and I don’t feel a connection to him either, kind of a bland character in my opinion.

I did enjoy the read though! Things definitely take a turn for the worst in this book so I can’t wait to see what Angelika brings to the table!

Oh the angst in this one! I can’t get enough of Star-crossed lovers!

And dragon shifters. Where can I find myself one of them?

The Warrior King by Abigail Owen is the third book in the action-packed, exciting and sizzling Inferno Rising series and as the war against the Red King continues, Meira and Samuel must battle more than just their foe as they fight the increasing attraction and sexual chemistry that threatens to waylay their focus. As with previous stories this one was easily read in one sitting due to its gripping and intense storyline and the engaging and likable characters. A great addition to the series and one I’m sure will entertain many readers. I’m looking forward to the next thrilling instalment.

What would you do if the woman you can't stop thinking about, the woman your dragon wants, is marrying your king? If you are Samael, intent on doing what is right, you step aside and you hope the hurt goes away.

Meira has always done what is right and in order to unite the Blue, Gold and Black Dragon clans, the Black Dragon King needs to mate a phoenix. Months go into the planning of the mating ceremony. Meira doing what is right, even if she has dreams of another. Samael keeps his distance because he can't bear to watch the woman he dreams about marrying another.

After the exchanging of formal vows, Gorgon (the Black Dragon King) and Meira return to his chambers to begin the mating ceremony. What is the one thing we have learned in all the books? If the phoenix does not choose the mate completely, the dragon will go up in flames.

One kiss is all that is exchanged before he goes up in flames, but just as he is dying something happens…. Yikes…not going to tell you but something happens! Samael races into the room, takes a look at the situation and fulfills his promise to the king, keeping the queen safe. Next thing you know they are teleporting through the mirror and on the run!

Samael is a warrior through and through, duty and honor are not just words but a way of life, a code. He has lost his king and is with the woman he dreams of, lovely, logical, scientific, Meira. These two have a hard path in front of them.

This book is filled with lies, betrayal, treachery, pain, and loss. I will be honest, I teared up at the end of this book, my heart broke, and then slowly started to mend.

The war with the Red false King is coming to a head and the battle has just begun. The Warrior King is filled with suspense, twists, and turns that will keep you guessing, characters I am completely invested in, and another swoon-worthy mate match, Samael and Meira are simply perfect for each other. This book and series gets my recommendation!

Fabulous! I think this is my favorite so far in the series!

This is Meira's book. She is the quiet sister but OH! Is she fierce! I loved her attitude, her conscience and her loyalty.

Samael is also very loyal. To his King, to his clan and to his new Queen. Al is good except for that pesky fated mates clause that is going to make and already fubar situation skyrocket!

Meira and Sam's story is packed with action. They are everywhere! Meira's ability to move through mirrors helps them escape many bad guys. We get to see not only all her sisters together but we see some of our friends from the Fire's Edge series. I loved that we got to know more about Rune!

I can't wait to see the conclusion but I will be sad to see this bunch of characters leave. Wonderful paranormal read!!

Everyone wants revenge against The Rotting King, Pytheios. So to Meira, it made sense to align herself to Gorgon and marry him. But things go terribly wrong and he dies after they are wed.

Samael first spotted Meira in a mirror, like he was seeing a ghost because she wasn't in the room. His dragon knew right away that she was their mate but he could do nothing since he had no idea who she was. Once he did see her again she was about to marry Gorgon so he let it go. But now he has to try and protect her, both from his people and from himself.

After Pytheios's witch, Rhiamon had been killed I really thought that would be the end of The Rotting King but I was wrong. Instead he sacrificed his own son and that of Rhiamon to bring her back to life. She was not happy and very unstable. Pytheios wasn't so sure that he could count on her anymore to bring him paranormal creatures in order to drain to give him more power to stay alive. So he and his brother came up with another plan to make sure he kept the throne of High King. This twist was great! I never would thought such a thing was possible but this series has shown that so many things are possible.

While Samael and Meira are on the run and trying to figure out what to do next, they finally give in to what they feel and realize they really are true mates. That's when they get hit with another twist that really shakes things up. The twists don't stop there and I swear one had my mouth dropping in shock. I was not prepared at all. The journey was long and the danger was great. The heartache I felt watching this story unfold was profound but I really liked the ending and am really looking forward to the next book.

Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
