This book is a beautiful, illustrated memoir of the late Broadway costume designer Patricia Zipprodt, whose papers were given to the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, where I work. Told in a conversational tone with acerbic humor and delightful wit, the book charts her journey from bohemian Greenwich Village in the 1950s all the way through to the end of her life in 1999. Along the way, Pat worked with the biggest names in theatre - Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Hal Prince, Mike Nichols, James Lapine - garnering several Tony Awards for her thrilling work; she won for "Fiddler on the Roof," "Cabaret," and "Sweet Charity." She was also Tony nominated for her exquisite work on "Pippin" and "Chicago," to name a few. What a fiery talent!
