Out of the frying pan and into the fire. I got out of the manor and straight into an Other prison. Genius. Now all I have to do is wait to be transferred to the Human side of the Divide. I have no idea how I’m going to escape a psycho’s wrath for something I haven’t done. I don’t see sitting him down for a heart-to-heart ending well. I’m spending my time in jail to get a plan together without distractions. But everything is starting to get… spooky here. I have a chance to make new alliances, change my life, and find the missing. Or spend eternity here slowly losing my sanity.
Why is nobody talking about these books?... I'm perplexed. They are awesome. The writing is so freaking eccentric and peculiarly engaging. The amount of detail the author puts in every scene is insane. I'm not sure if it's medically insane or genius level of insane. it's like the fever dream of a fever dream of a person who definetly lost it. I feel like I was high on some powerful hallucinatory brownies and then smoked crack just for fun. The story is creeping me the hell out. But in a good way. Like if you know is gruesome, absurd and terrifying but you are exited about it.
The characters are so incredibly annoying and hilarius in their uniqueness. And the world building WTF. These books are like a train wreck you can stop watching. And you feel weirdly arouse and freaked out about it. It like watching a fail clone experiment implode, and you do anything but shut up and enjoy the view. because why not?
I swear I’m a masochist. I’m not really fan of this muddled vague storytelling because I genuinely feel like we’re making no progress. I’m trying to be patient, but I’m more annoyed. I feel like if I wasn’t getting plot or answers then I should at least be getting romance, but there’s none of that either. And yet, onward I push because I need these fucking answers for why everyone’s brain is so mush and forgetful and disoriented. But it’s getting tedious and exhausting.
This is taken directly from my notes at the end of book 1, Bonding Psychos: "I don't know WTF I just read, but it's like a dizzying carnival ride that I don't want to end."
Please note that the following review is for the SERIES, not each individual book.
First off, this series hit all of my happy buttons. Plot? ✅️ Character driven? ✅️ Unpredictable? ✅️ Large harem? ✅️ Geeky? ✅️ Funny? ❌️ - this wasn't funny. It was freakin hysterical. Hawt? ✅️ (but know going in, this is a glacial burn series. The smut takes a long time to arrive, but when it does? Im advising you now - batteries or cold showers.)
I saw the series recommended on Facebook, and the title of the first book (Bonding Psychos) alone piqued my interest. I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. And I wouldn't change a thing. However, I tend to fall into the morally gray camp, so even if I could succinctly summarize the plot (which I can't), I wouldn't.
The plot is … phenomenal doesn't even come close. I cannot even begin to write a synopsis. Trust me, bro. Read it. The world building is mind blowing, and I can't think of another romance series that has this depth of character development. In some regards, this is almost more urban fantasy than romance, but the relationship building that winds through the story is delicious. And Bea? A pure delight for such a chaotic good character. (For those who aren't in the know about character alignments, she is just on the “good” side of morally gray.)
All in all, chef's kiss. I'm off to see what other adventures Gina Morris has written!
I liked this book more than the first book we got more characters introduced and I the prison setting was cool.
This book felt more unique and we got to learn more about the FMC. We also got more pov’s from the male characters in this series. Mitri has my heart. I don’t know why but he just hits for me. I liked learning about his history and getting more of his internal dialog.
Him and the artefacts has to be one of the most original and out there character aspects I have read in a long time. The author is doing an amazing job building something that is totally her own and not just another rehash of the RH or KU romantasy enemies to lovers formula.
One downside for me is how obvious it is that GV is the one mentally manipulating the agents. Maybe I’m wrong by kings headaches just seem like it’s from trying to fight her compulsion when around Beatrice. (Side note - I also hate the name Beatrice. It’s just awful)
Bonding - I’m writing this review after finishing the series, I had to come back to drop a stellar review. This series was so surprising! Well written, crafted craftily, characters wacky, humor humoring, all centered around a fierce (but kinda average looking) FMC. Several of the main characters are borderline crazy/psycho so the first books seem to meander a bit, but they slowly become cohesive and make sense in such a way the reader has “ah ha” moments. Engaging, fun, really hard to put down, this series has made it on to a TOP READ list of mine! Highly recommend.
*RH with a little MM (SLOW burn buildup to book 4) * humans, monsters, demi-Gods, dragon shifter, beserker, immortals *legit psychos *reincarnation *fated mates *TW’s
I enjoyed this book more than the first. I found myself more interested in Ben and Bea far more than any of the other mem from book one. This book was also a lot mote fast paced in the sense that things were always happening. Book one was definitely more set up and despite this being a slow burn, I don’t actually even care (which is saying a lot as I loathe slow burn).
The craziness continues and it’s brilliant! I’m loving this brand of insanity that has Bea, Ben and Mitri in its grasp. I need to know what’s causing the mind warping in the den and what do the missing persons have to do with it all. So many questions, can’t wait for the answers!
4.25 ⭐️/1 🌶️—I was hoping the first book wasn’t a fluke and I wasn’t disappointed. This book may have been even better than the first since the world has been established and you are familiar with the characters. It’s still slow burn, but I think it really works with the story and character arcs. There are new characters, which are just as interesting as those introduced in the first book.
Much better than the first one. A few interesting characters got introduced, Scilla was such a bitch and Ben was the sweetest nightmare ever. I loved Ben, every harem should have a guy that is scary as fuck, but so sweet and cuddly to his love. I'm usually mad if a shifter hides in his shifted form from their love interest, but he was forced here so my love for the guy wasn't tainted ;)
Second book got better, I’m seeing and understanding more of the world and the characters within it. I hope we see more of Mike. I’m also enjoying the fact that so far there’s no distracting/annoying sex scenes. Good ol’ fashion plot 💗
I didn’t think it could get better than the first book, but this follow-up really blew my expectations out of the water. Loved the prison, all the new characters, and fun twists and reveals. Super excited to keep reading the series
Can this series get any better. These characters are the best. We already know iris aka GV is the villain. Can’t wait for the guys to figure that one out esp King.
What absolute treat this series is going. So fun, light and entertaining.
DNF I really tried to stay open-minded with this book, but the plot was poorly written. I understand the author wanted it to be confusing, but it wasn't just confusing it almost just seemed like rubbish
This reads like a Wattpad story with lots of rambling and it was so hard to understand wtf is going on. Tragically, I am here for this train wreck and morbidly curious about the next book.
This series was really good! Easy to lose yourself in the world created. Loved each book in this series and can’t wait to explore this author’s other books.
