A dark contemporary romance that grips you from the start.

Justice

After witnessing the murder of my parents,

protecting my brother became my priority.

I watch the shadows for clues, anything that will lead to their killer.

I can’t stop.

Especially now …

not when he offers me the sweet vengeance I never knew I craved.

Redemption

I always knew I was put on this earth to deliver death to the corrupt.

I find them, put an end to their destruction, and keep hunting.

That is until Justice is distorted, her light tampered with.

I won’t stop until she is redeemed.

Their mistake was to touch what is mine.

Now instead of a swift end,

I’ll make them suffer.

I received this book as an ARC and I am very grateful for the chance to review this book.

I love reading DR and I enjoyed this book very much. I will admit I am a slow reader at times but this book was so good I finished it quickly. I loved the FMC quite a lot from her personality to the love she has for her family. The tension that Nikki and Dylan have is just chef's kiss.

I cannot wait to see what other books or stories this author has coming our way! Keep up the good work!!

The fact that this is a debut novel!?
Wow!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the plot is so freaking good, I love a great revenge plot. This book seriously got me hooked, not wanting to put it down.

The pull between Justice and Dylan from the start was amazing. I loved how possessive and obsessed he was with her.
Justice is definitely a badass, she has such a strong and kind soul. I loved her character and how she puts so much of herself into helping others.
Their inner monologues were amazing, as well as the side characters in this book. They all made me root for them.
Plus there are some very nice spice in here.

I received this book as an ARC and I couldn’t be more grateful for that.

This is a solid DR and I really loved it. I usually rated my books high, but this one truly deserves it.

Justice (or as Dylan called her, Niki) and Dylan are so good together. Their instalust and her prejudices against law enforcement just added tension to a very good interactions between them. He’s obsessed with her and she doesn’t want to succumb to the force that brings them together, but when she does… Oh my, 🌶️🌶️ The spice is so good and well written is just *chef kiss*

“I’d turn away from sin if she were an angel sent to deliver me to heaven. And I’d gladly sell my soul to Hades if it meant I’d get to spend and eternity with her in hell.”

“I can single her out while blindfolded in a crowded room.”

“We - I point to us both - will be infinite. When death comes, my very soul will search for yours — I am forever yours either way, fox.”

“Dylan is my anchor, he’s what holds me level and sane. He’s my drive, the current that propels me forward, the flame to my campfire. I never believed in ‘meant to be’ bullshit, but he’s my other half.”

It was ok. Not something I’d read again or necessarily recommend. The writing wasn’t particularly impressive. Dark romances generally have an easy flow to them that leads to a relaxing reading experience. I found myself having to reread passages of Her, trying to understand what was going on. The premise was interesting enough.

Years back, tragedy struck Justice when she lost her parents to a crime, stepping up to look after her little brother. She transforms into a mysterious ghost blogger, unveiling shady dealings in the hopes of cracking the case. But things take a wild turn when she crosses paths with Detective Dylan Montreal, and suddenly, she's knee-deep in trouble.
Enter Dylan, the fresh-faced cop on a mission to tackle corruption in town. Their journey is a rollercoaster ride as they both chase the same goal, with their sizzling chemistry adding a spicy twist. The slow burn of their relationship kept me glued to the pages, and boy, the grand finale was totally worth the wait. Packed with surprises at every turn, this book will have you perched on the edge of your seat!

My review is part of an ARC- and my first ARC experience.

"Her touch grounded me and then shot me into the sky. I'd turn away from sin if she were an angel sent to deliver me to heaven. And I'd gladly sell my soul to Hades if it meant I'd get to spend an eternity with her in hell."- CHOKEHOLD, the MMC had me from the beginning, but when this was uttered, I was done for.

I am a sucker for a burn the world down for her possesive/protective MMC. I also love a smart and strong FMC, not one who always needs a man to save her, and this book delivered both.

The book consistently kept my interest, and I devored it within less than 24 hours. The plot was phenomenal, and even though it hit on some pretty heavy items, there were sprinkles of sarcasm/playfulness/bratty attitude that would make you laugh.

The spice did take a little bit to get to, but when it finally got there 🥵🌶🌶🌶🌶🥵. Well worth the wait. And I didn't mind the wait as the story kept me engaged, and honestly, if it was done sooner, it would not have worked as well. The story needed that build up.

All in all, I am looking forward to more from this author, as the writing style is right up my alley, and I was far from disappointed. So far, this book is in my top 3 of the year!

I just finished ARC reading this book & I absolutely devoured it! 😍🔥 It has such an amazing story line & I'm a sucker for a good "touch her & die" trope! The FMC is an absolute badass too! 🙌🏼 I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for the future! 🖤

I honestly had no clue what to expect going into reading my ARC of her. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved it. I loved the dual point of views I just wish it didn’t take so long to get points of view from Dylan. The ending was extremely satisfying and wrapped the story up perfectly. Extremely excited to see what the author comes up with next.

I got this ARC from Xóchitl and man was I blown away that this was a debut book. I really loved her writing style, I felt like I was watching a movie in my head while I read. And the trope are perfection. 🖤Bad A$$ FMC 🖤Possessive MMC 🖤Insta Attraction 🖤 Touch Her and Die 🖤 Morally Grey 🖤 Dark Romance. The character development of Justice and Dylan was so good. The fact that are both working towards the same goal and have such scorching hot chemistry gets me. The story is hard and sad but also so amazing. I don’t want to give away too much because you really need to read the book and get immersed in the world that Xóchitl has created.

“I want to set her free, to open the door of her cage and seep into the crevices of her lonely soul and steal her pain.”

I genuinely enjoyed this book. This will be my first ARC ever and I am so happy I did.
The slow burn of this book snagged me but when that spice final hit it was totally worth the wait
But the pull between the FMC and MMC was addicting to me. I loved that this had a full bodied Latina FMC and the banter was there as well. I loved the badassery of Dylan’s character and how immensely strong willed Justice is.
I also couldn’t get enough of the familial bonds. I’m generally a very fast reader so I plowed through about half this book when I started it and had to stop myself so I could enjoy it longer because I really didn’t want it to end.

“He’s got this weird, otherworldly connection to you. It’s like he exhales, you inhale.”

This was SO GOOD. I could not get enough and I ate it up. Full of tension, angst and action. The plot was well thought out with surprises around every turn.

Dylan is the perfect book boyfriend whose filthy mouth can only be outdone by his touch her and die vibes… not even vibes he did it. Justice is a total badass who takes care of her family above all else and can totally run shit. Their chemistry is off the charts and I’m here for it.

I’m astonished that this is a debut novel and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I reveived an ARC - thoughts are my own.

I am truly grateful to being able to read this as an ARC, it was a good read.
It definitely struggled because it was missing scenes and the cut off from one POV to the other jumped in the middle of a thought at times, not the end or even like a decent place to cut it. Not only that, it didn’t flow at times, and just wasn’t easy to read like a lot of romances. The plot and the characters were wonderful (hence the 3 stars), but to be honest, this was one book that truly disappointed me.

Tropes seen:
• TOUCH HER & DIE - but he lets her get into situations that could be harmful, He trusts her.
• STRONG FMC - Justice doesn't tell us she's strong; she shows us.
• ALPHA MMC - Dylan is a perfect blend of strong without being OTT controlling, he’s protective but respectful.
MORALLY GREY - life has not been kind to any of them and it shows through in the plot.
• INSTALOVE - It fell into the storyline so naturally, it felt real; the soulmate kind of love.
• LGBTQ - A subtle mention and dynamic involved in primary supporting characters without being a strong pop out.
• IMPERFECT HEROES - these were characters that sometimes struggled to figure out how they were going to do good. Not only that, they were unlikely to be the ones to be able to pull off what they did. Even surprised the pros.

Dylan is the rookie cop in town sent to clean up the corruption. Of course, there is Max, Dylan's dog that protects Jusitce at first sight, too.
Justice witnessed her parents murders years prior, leaving her to care for her younger brother. She takes to the streets to find any information she can to find the man responsible and post to her blog.
Justice, her brother Jule, and her best friend/adoptive sister Jasmin live together in the trailer that her parents owned. They live a tough life, doing odd jobs just to scrape by. There's more to it than meets the eye.
She has a boyfriend, her childhood friend Noah. Noah wants her, would do anything for her, but he has a secret.
Dylan wants Justice aka Niki, she is his little fox. The chemistry between them is electric. Once Justice finally accept their attraction and need for each, the spice is off the chart.

**Trigger warnings**
Please make sure you read them before reading the book.

One of my resolutions this year was to read/listen to more BIOPIC books. When I saw the opportunity to receive an ARC of HER by @xochitlgarciaguillen_author, I grabbed it with both hands.

I have so many thoughts swirling in my head, I’m having a hard time deciding where to start.

I loved this story about Dylan & Niki and their path of Redemption & Justice.

TROPES

💋TOUCH HER & DIE - but he lets her get into situations that could be harmful. He trusts her ability to defend herself.
💋ALPHA MMC - Dylan is a growly alpha but not an over the top angry alpha. He knows how to give space & time.
💋STRONG FMC - so many times an author will try to overcompensate how strong their FMC is throughout a book by stating it over over. This one is all action. Justice doesn’t tell us she’s strong; she shows us.
💋MORALLY GREY - life has not been kind to them and it shows.
💋INSTALOVE - but not in a sugary saccharine way. It fell into the storyline so naturally, it felt real.
💋LGBTQ - I have read books where they’ve emphasized it so much that it becomes more about pointing out “hey there’s a queer in my book”. It didn’t even cross my mind that there was a gay couple. I don’t know how to describe it. I read it and it was just natural.
💋IMPERFECT HEROES - this was not a team that had bodies in prime physical perfect condition planning ops out to rescue people.
💋LATINA - I am Caucasian. However, grew up in the Southwest part of the US. The representation of family and culture is so strong and true that it made me homesick.
💋🌶️🌶️🌶️ - arrives a little late in the story and the reason why floored me. I LOVED IT.

This author surprised me in so many ways. Twists I didn’t expect, events that I thought would be big were understated and more suspenseful. The angst came from the suspense of their actions, not the relationship. No push pull and arguing for days over who is in control. It was a story about people doing the best they can do to make a difference in a corrupt world.

I will definitely be reading this author again.

Thank you Xochitl Garcia Guillen for allowing me to receive an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was blessed with an ARC copy of this book, and I am grateful! Here's my honest review of H E R.

The plot was intriguing, exploring a city full of coruption so deep that even the cops were in on it. It followed a woman names Justice who hunts for the man responsible for her parents' death, while also running a blog "for the people" in am effort to shine light on the corruption. Justice is a selfless FMC who would burn the world for her loved ones; namely Jule her younger brother, and Jasmin her adopted sister.

Enter Detective Dylan, whom is immediately obsessed with Justice after the events that brought them together. He is deeply dedicated to helping her solve the case of her parents' murder. And would murder any man who dare to touch his little fox. He has a Caine Corpse named Max and I adored him.

I commend the plot, and the way it felt flushed out. However, I feel like it fell a little flat for me in the action aspect. I really wanted more from some of the scenes, and the inner dialogue was a little wordy where there could've been more show not tell.

The spice was decent, and while it took awhile to get there, I did thoroughly enjoy the way it was written and the situations that brought them to do the devil's tango. 2/5🌶

I also believe that another round of editing would've made it better, I did find myself feeling a little ... Off with some of the scenes, especially the spanish written in with no explanation.

Spoilers in the next couple lines...

Quote that I loved: “Why do you call me that?” I ignore his question and ask one of my own instead.
“Well, besides it being your last name, it’s a fierce animal. The first to use the earth’s magnetic field to hunt its prey. Beyond cunning, beautiful, loyal, passionate, perfect–”

Quote that angered me because it felt very manipulative: "If you end up being somebody else’s, I’ll die of grief.”

Overall, for what the book was, it was enjoyable, but not really what I necessarily would pick up again.

Thank you again for the ARC! ❤

✨ H E R by Xóchitl García Guillén ✨

This book almost suffered by my mood reading. I dont know if I was in a reading slup or not but I remember that when I started reading it I was not fully engaged in it and then once it got my attention I was loss due to my lack of not paying attention at the beginning so I went back and statrted it and all I can say is that I'm so freaking happy I did that. This book follows justice and her journey to finding evidence for the murder case of her parents. Due to how bad corruption is and how easy the bad guys have the law in their pockets she becomes sort of a ghost blogger/journalist calling out all the corruption going on in hopes she can bring enough evidence to get her parents case solve. When I tell you she absolutely hates and distrust law enforcement is an understatement. So when she finds herself under the spell of Detective Dylan Montreal she knows she is in big trouble.

Dylan has one goal and one goal only. Clean up the corruption. Complete the task fast and move to the next job. His addiction has been and always will be his job so when he comes face to face with the beautiful yet guarded Nikoletta Justice Fox, he knows his focus is about to change, question is how bad.

If you are looking for a book were the FMC is fearless and badass. With a take no bull💩 attitude, super protective of her family then you need to give this book a try. This book had me blushing at times, at the edge of my seat at other times, bawling (specially at the end). This book defenitely set an awesome foundation for what will be the rest of the series. This is my frist read from Xochitl but will definitely will not be the last. I have become a fan of her work and cant wait to see what she bring next.

✨“The details don’t matter, not when we meet our definite end. We” I point to us both “will be infinite. When death comes, my very soul will search for yours — I am forever yours either way, fox.”✨

Nikoletta Justice Fox is determined to fight for justice and bring down the organized crime leader, Vork, who murdered her parents, while also raising her teenage brother Julius with her best friend Jasmin. The police force in her city is full of corrupt cops that are on Vork’s payroll. Due to how bad corruption is and how easy the bad guys have the law in their pockets she becomes sort of a ghost blogger calling out all the corruption going on in hopes she can bring enough evidence to get her parents' case solved. I just loved Dylan and Justice so much. Their connection was instant. I am a sucker for a burn the world for her MMC and Dylan delivers that tenfold. I also love a strong bada$$ FMC and Justice plays the part so well! OH and I just love Dylan's dog Max! Overall I loved the characters, and the plot definitely had me hooked and interested. There were twists that I didn't expect. While it felt like a slow burn leading up to it, the 🌶️was wonderfully written.

*Please know I do not believe a 3.5 star review should be viewed as negative*

Things I loved: I love a sassy FMC who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to take action! Add in some crime fighting, a loveable big dog, and "touch her and die" vibes, and it makes for a good story. I love how unapologetic Dylan is regarding how feelings for Niki, there isn't anything he wouldn't do for her! I also appreciated the way those who work in the club and sex industry were spoken about with respect and boundaries, even when triggering topics were mentioned (please read the authors TW list). I look forward to a sequel and where the story continues to develop!

Things I struggled with: I respect and appreciate the integration of Spanish phrases, but as a non-Spanish speaker, it did require me to use Google translate multiple times. Having read it as an ebook this wasn't too hard, but had I read a physical copy, this could have been a bit more difficult. I wish the orginal villain had been more of a focus, 30% of the way in, the villain given most of the focus changed. Also, I wish Dylan's background was explored sooner and more in depth, he's such an interesting character!

Summary:
Niki/Justice depending on how well you know her, does not put up with any crap, and is willing to do what's necessary to avenge her parents death, even if that means putting herself in harm's way. Dylan is a brooding, violence loving, mysterious kinda guy. But one thing that isn't a mystery, is that he wants to be with Niki, no one and nothing will stand in his way. When danger makes it's way even deeper into Niki's life, Dylan is all to happy to jump right in and join her in the crusade to take down some local criminals and filthy politicians.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book! ❤

This book was so good! I had the pleasure of reading this book as an ARC & I did not know what to expect as this was my Very first ARC. I was instantly captivated by this story and the characters. I did not want this to end and I would gladly read this again.

The FMC, Justice, was such a likeable character. I respected the fact that she went thru a lot at a very young age and was very determined to bring the criminals to justice in any way that she could. She had to take care of her younger brother as they lost their parents when they were young. Her strength to do that, work in places she hated, and still bring others safety while trying to rid the city of nasty beings was so Amazing to read.

The MMC, Dylan, was Hooot! He was not to be played with AT ALL and you better not Think about putting your hands on Justice because you won't live to see the next moment. His presence alone was intense and he had his eye on Justice before he even knew who she would be to him and what he was trying to uncover in the criminal world.

Justice does not trust Dylan At All as he is a cop and the cops are under the criminals thumb. Dylan is a "rookie" and he is determined to stop ALL Criminal activity. Justice Cannot ignore Dylan no matter what she does, even with having a boyfriend who is her childhood best friend. Their chemistry is INSANE and I Love when they are together because Dylan Knocks down all of Justices' walls in the Best ways.

This book reads like a standalone, but I wouldn't mind reading about any of the side characters or if she wants to add another to this book to create a series, I'd be Here for it!

Tropes: Rivals to Lovers, badass FMC, slight slow burn, He falls first, touch her and die, dual POV, a lot of Good Spice, & HEA.

*Read Trigger Warnings as this book gets intense at times*

Wow! I was very impressed this was a debut novel and I was very glad to get the pleasure to read this one early! This is a dark romance and touches on some heavier topics so definitely check your TW/CW.

Justice is our main FMC and she is anxious to get revenge for her parents death. She runs a blog where she exposes the bad people around her but she may have overstepped this time and she finds herself in some hot water. That's where Dylan comes in!

Dylan is a "rookie" cop that looks into Justice's case and ends up trying to help her. But what they both unravel goes far beyond just the two of them! This was a page turner for sure and the suspense kept me on my toes! There were also a handful of twists that I didn't see coming!

I don't want to give away too much as I went into this book pretty blind! But it definitely delivered on the suspense, spice, and characters! I especially enjoyed the side characters as well!

I liked this book a lot as it had a great plot as well as amazing characters! Justice is a bada** and I loved how she was finally able to let her guard down with Dylan! They were both pretty closed off people but once they opened up, it was everything! I had so many emotions reading and it was an easy read! I definitely recommend it! I can't wait to see what else is in store for this author, she has a ton of potential!

I have no idea what I was reading. Such a weird book.

Niki, the FMC, was already emotionally cheating on her boyfriend Noah the moment she laid eyes on Dylan, the MMC. I don’t like it when the guy does it and I also don’t like it when the girl does it. It doesn’t matter whether she actually loves him romantically or not. Noah was actually such a sweetheart, Niki was just bleh. But ofcourse, Noah needed to become a bad guy so he can make place for the MMC.

Insta love is not my cup of tea. It makes the relationship between the leads empty and based on a whole lot of nothing.

Several parts were just so randomly put in just to have it in there, making the flow of the story feel off.

So Vork, one of the villains is not at top of the food chain. Then who is? I just hope it’s not the mayor (it would just be too lame). Guess we will never know as it is never revealed.

Niki is supposed to be a strong women, but the only thing she is doing is dancing around in weird clubs. The scene where she supposedly took down 3 men was fully skipped, which is hard to believe since the last thing that happened was her blacking out because someone hit her in the head. Don’t even mention how easily Dylan was taken down.

Dylan was sent in as undercover to uncover corruption within the force but ended up being the Niki’s dog in taking the mayor down.

Overall, this book was a total of several things just randomly put together and nothing actually fitting in.

⭐️1 because of all the above and because author thinks the whole world speaks/understands spanish.

+⭐️ 0,5 because Noah was the only one with some chemistry and Dylan was okay I guess.

I want to first start off with thanking Xochitl for giving me the opportunity to read Her. This book has an amazing plot that will leave you on the edge of your seat and wanting to keep reading, and stay up way past your bedtime and the spice was great and placed perfectly. Niki the main female characters strength was amazing especially with what she went through throughout the book, I was cheering her on for her standing up to those who tired to cause her harm showing that she didn't really need Dylan main male character to come to her rescue even though he always showed up for her even after she had already taken out the bad guys herself. The part of the party where Jas, Liv, Niki, and Dylan had to get dressed up and given hidden tech made me laugh especially when Dylan opened up the black box that Niki gave him and the look I imagined on his face when he saw what it was. The nicknames that were given for Niki along with the collar that Dylan gave her of Little Fox, and a Fox choker was cute. Even though this book is an enemy to lovers he still wanted to burn the world down for her if someone touched or harmed her. I also liked that both of the main characters had somewhat of a similar but not so similar backstory, and how Niki would burn the world down for her what she had left of her family even though it was small. I would read this book again and would recommend it to those who love a great plot and some spice (my mom being one of those people).

Do you ever read a book and think by the first few chapters you know EXACTLY what’s going to happen and it’s the complete opposite?!?!? Then look no further than Xochitl Garcia Guillen debut novel Her.

We meet Justice a street vigilante blogger out to take down the people who murdered her parents and left her and her little brother orphans. Justice lives in a trailer with her brother and her best friend Jasmin. As Justice delves into the corruption in her city she meets a new police officer Dylan. Dylan is immediately enamored with Justice nicknaming her “Fox” and an immediate need to constantly protect her.

Just his boyfriend Noah has a terrible feeling about Dylan but Dylan has a bad feeling about Noah the two of them bash heads quite a bit in the book as Noah doesn’t trust Dylan and vice versa. However, Dylan’s feelings about Noah turned out to be right.

As the story continues we learn that justice has a whole different life outside of the trailer park that she hides from people and for good reason as she’s been helping save women for years using a piece of property her family left her.

Dylan and Justice’s chemistry is instant and electric and it just makes for such a good storyline.

You can tell that Justice will go to every length to protect her family and her city and with Dylan at her side she has the power to do so!

This is a great debut novel and I truly can’t wait to see what’s in store in part 2.

This had one of the best possessive alpha males I’ve read in a long time. Dylan is the rookie cop in town sent to clean up the corruption.

Justice witnessed her parents mu£de£ years prior, leaving her to care for her younger brother. She takes to the streets to find any information she can to find the man responsible and post to her blog.

🔥 “Fu*k, I’d plunge my c*€k so far into her tiny throat and gladly watch her gasp for air while she chokes on me.”
🔥 “Her skin, fu*k, it’s my very own entrance to the portal of a never-ending paradise. I wanted to wrap her legs around me and slip her thong to the side and pound into her so hard she screams my name in agony and pleasure laced into one damning assurance that she is mine.”
🔥 “Come on, rookie. Ruin me.”
🔥 “Here the fu*k we go,” Niki whispers.
🔥 “Good girl,” he purrs. “Now, come for me, fox.”

🔥Latinx Characters
🖤Badass FMC
✨️Touch her and 💀
🖤Soulmates
🔥Slow burn
💋Possessive MMC
🥵Spicy AF

On her birthday, Nik, aka Justice, captures a video of the man "Vork" who unalived her parents. She's out for revenge while exposing the underground crimes going on. She writes the justice hotline blog anonymously, but soon, all her enemies are catching on. Will she get her justice or get caught in the process?

While she's hiding from the cops, here comes Dylan aka "Rookie" walking down the street with flashlight & gvn in hand, looking for clues. He's working for more than one side, so will he help justice or only look out for himself?

This debut novel is where it's at. We take badass main characters, both nik and dylan, who are sexy as all fvck too.
Think Rio vibes from good girls but hotter, dirtier mouth, and an obsessive simp for "justice" in more ways than one.

Thank you, Xochitl, for the chance to read an arc for HER, a strong fmc who doesn't back down to anyone, handles her shit, and embraces her sexuality.

If you like women who become vigilantes, a cop with a dirty mouth, and smoking hot latin tongue, then this is for you!

🖤HER is a slow burn, dark contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It has an intense plot with lots of action and intrigue. We get a complete bad a$$ FMC and an obsessive possessive MMC to add to your list of book boyfriends.
🖤 Justice is a fearless F*ck around and find out strong willed woman who will stop at nothing to ensure the safety of her family. She’s trying to overcome some incredibly difficult obstacles to provide for her family and give them the opportunity to reset and have a happy future. Dylan is mysterious and obsessed with Justice. Touch her and die is an understatement. He is sensitive and perceptive to what Justice needs and does anything and everything in his power to take care of her.
🖤This is a slow burn but once we get burning, it is beautiful, powerful and passionate. Dylan’s filthy mouth is thigh clenching goodness. Their chemistry is undeniable and the unspoken pull of their souls to be joined is intense. The action, lies, betrayal, secrets and suspense create an awesome page turning story.
🖤I truly enjoyed HER and look forward to other books from Xochitl Garcia Guillen in the future.

ARC Review 🖤
HER is a book I never wanted to put down. Where do I even start? Niki and Dylan are one of my favorite couples. Niki is a STRONG yet heart of gold FMC and Dylan is a force to be reckoned with. His obsession with her ✨immaculate✨ and watching her guard come down for him ✨chefs kiss✨. Niki runs a Justice blog to keep her community informed about the truth of everything going on in the community since there’s corruption all over & Dylan is the new cop,👀, on the block looking to end corruption in general. The plot was amazing. It wasn’t rushed, all over the place, or confusing to stick with. The spicy scenes had me blushing and going Oop 👀 when I read them. The power play scene was phenomenal. Loved seeing Dyl try to keep his sh*t together 🤭. The side characters made my heart so happy. They didn’t feel out of place or awkwardly written in. Jasmine is the type of best friend that every FMC should have and Jule is the type of brother I would kill for in this life. This is a must read!

The only thing I think could’ve been added was just a smidge more filthy talk. Other than that, I had literally 0 issues with this read.

Her was an entertaining dark romance. I liked it. Justice was a tough and caring fmc. I enjoyed her sass. Dylan was a possessive and determined mmc. I found him a bit intense at times, but I liked his devotion towards Justice. The chemistry was fire. I liked the pacing of the romance. Their attraction was instant, but their relationship didn't feel like it happened too quick or too slow.

I was interested in the side characters, from Piper to Noah. I wish we had more time with some characters.

An issue I had was I felt some parts of the story were lacking in some way. For example, Vork. He was an important and heinous character that affected the life of Justice and other characters in the story. I was left somewhat unsatisfied regarding how things played out with him. I also felt there were things in the story that could have been written better.

For triggers, check the author's website. But here is a small list: p3dophile character, mention of child sa, human trafficking, on page death, and murder.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for honest feedback. Thank you Xochitl.

“The details don’t matter, not when we meet our definite end. We” I point to us both “will be infinite. When death comes, my very soul will search for yours – I am forever yours either way, fox” 🦊

H E R was an intense dark romance that will leave you breathless. The story follows Justice who seeks justice and Dylan who seeks redemption. Justice is determined to bring down the man who killed her parents and bring light to the corruption that’s happening in their city, all while raising her little brother Jule and taking care of her best friend Jasmine. Dylan Montreal who is a detective is sent to clean up the corruption in Justices city, which ends up bringing these two together in ways they never expected. As their relationship unfolds, secrets are revealed, and the boundaries of love and obsession are tested.

The characters in this book are deeply intriguing and multi-dimensional. Justice is a strong-willed and independent woman who finds herself drawn to the enigmatic detective, Dylan. Their chemistry is palpable and their emotional journey is captivating and tumultuous.

The plot is filled with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The author masterfully navigates the complexities of dark romance, exploring themes of passion, power, and the blurred lines between love and darkness. The story is intense, gripping, and will keep you hooked until the very last page.

Xóchitl García Guillén’s writing style is evocative and atmospheric, perfectly capturing the dark and sensual tone of the story. Her descriptive writing creates a vivid and immersive reading experience, allowing you to feel the characters' emotions and experience their intense connection. The author's ability to balance the darkness with moments of vulnerability and tenderness is commendable.

If you enjoy intense and emotionally charged romances with a touch of darkness, then this book is a must read. 🖤

If HER was turned into a TV show, I would binge-watch it. I love Niki's character and how she took names and kicked ass. She is such a strong character and has so much depth. Her witty remarks throughout the book brought chuckles out of me, and I appreciated her more for how she looked at the world. She was the Catwoman to Dylan's Batman. Dylan had the resources, but Niki ran the show. Dylan's character gave Dean Winchester vibes, with his car being his baby. Dylan's protectiveness and behavior towards Niki made me fall for him. He chose to be completely honest with her regarding who he is and what he does. He knew that she not only needed and wanted honesty, but she demanded it.
I loved the storyline and the action that occurred in the book. I wish there was more action throughout the book not just the ending. I wish the cultural backgrounds of the characters were detailed since they started speaking different languages throughout the book, and I was not sure what ethnicity the characters were. I love TV shows with action, so I read the hell out of this book.
