Friends, I have searched the world of AF literature over, and there is truly nothing like this 40-day journey with Christy. With her feet firmly planted in God’s Word, she is candid, warm, laid-back, and brilliant as she breaks down the neuroscience behind why we drink, leads us to examine ourselves without judgment, and teaches us how we can say goodbye to alcohol for as long as we like. It is a devotional, memoir, and handbook all in one, packed with the best tools that helped me personally give up alcohol for good. Best of all, there is not a drop of shame or condemnation - only freedom and grace! I will always have a spare copy on hand, ready to help any sister in Christ live a life of freedom that Jesus already paid for on the cross.
This book will save lives. I’ve read my fair share of QuitLit books, but nothing quite like Love, Life, Sober. The combination of faith, science, and introspective work helps the reader truly question their life with alcohol in a unique and non-judgmental way. It got me the dive into my Bible again, and also reminded me of my greatest calling - being a daughter of God. There were so many pages where I said “yes!” out loud and felt as if this was written for me. The page about mourning our old “drinking lives” was therapeutic. I’m so grateful for this book, and the well-rounded aspect of it (each day starts with a Bible verse, moved into the science and false beliefs around alcohol, and ends with a journal prompt). If you are a Christian and have ever questioned your relationship with alcohol - this book is a must!
This is amazing resource for anyone wanting to decrease, or quit drinking alcohol. Christy’s insight, her clear and easy to understand approach and practical tools - combined with the spiritual growth, and reliance on Jesus have been a game changer for me! I am so thankful to have been lead to this book!
This is a beautifully written book! It’s full of compassion, interesting stories and helpful strategies to do each day as you read through it. All written with grace and the love of Jesus. This is my second time through - highly recommend!!🙏🏻🥰
Great book! Loved the scripture references and faith intertwined with the hard reality of the real role alcohol plays in our lives. Over the last 40 days I was inspired, encouraged, and challenged to live - continue living a sober lifestyle. Thankful for the faith influence in the book. Not many books out there that talk about alcohol struggles and faith.
"Love Life Sober" truly changed my life! It's a heartfelt and transformative guide for women questioning if alcohol truly fits into their lives. Christy's insights provide clarity and encouragement, resonating deeply and inspiring personal growth.
Christy has been in the exact spot the reader is, sick and tired of being stuck in the drinking cycle and ready for a change. She speaks from the heart and is incredibly relatable. Highly recommend!
As a Christian woman and certified life coach specializing in alcohol-free living, I discovered a beacon of hope and inspiration in “Love Life Sober” by Christy Osborne. This book, a 40-day journey, not only encourages women to take a break from alcohol but also invites them to deepen their faith and relationship with Christ, promising a transformative experience.
From the very first page, Christy’s writing felt like a warm embrace from a dear friend and sister in Christ. Her compassionate and insightful coaching style shines through, making each day of the 40-day journey feel like a personal conversation with a trusted mentor. Christy’s ability to blend practical advice with spiritual wisdom is genuinely brilliant.
One of the most impactful aspects of “Love Life Sober” is how it equips readers with practical advice to pour out the wine and instead be filled with the love of Christ. This powerful metaphor resonates deeply, reminding us that true fulfillment and joy come from our relationship with God, not from external substances. Each day’s reading is thoughtfully crafted to guide you through reflection, prayer, and actionable steps toward a healthier, more faith-filled life, empowering you with the tools for transformation.
As a life coach, I found myself eagerly looking forward to each day’s reading for my personal growth and the valuable insights I could share with my clients. Christy’s approach is gentle and empowering, providing the perfect balance of grace and accountability. Her words are a source of encouragement and strength, making you feel supported and cheered on every step of the way.
Thank you, Christy Osborne, for your brilliant writing and coaching. “Love Life Sober” is a gift to anyone seeking to break free from the hold of alcohol and embrace a deeper, more fulfilling walk with Christ. This book has been a blessing in my life and the lives of my clients, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone ready to embark on this transformative journey.
I was captivated by Christy Osborne’s remarkable journey and 40 day guide of how to transcend the wilderness of a highly addictive substance - alcohol. The author offers the valuable spiritual resource of a Christian perspective and of Biblical quotes that are truly inspirational. Through short but compelling passages at the beginning of each chapter, a sacred path from a place of darkness and isolation to one of light and liberation is revealed. Tangible actions steps are included at the end of each day’s reading, as part of a journal inquiry. With authentic and hopeful directives, the author highlights both obstacles and triumphs on her personalized journey and that of her coaching clients. She outlines a path to grace, joy, truth, and compassion from the pitfalls of emotional pain, shame, and unworthiness.
Christy Osborne’s references to cutting edge neurological science and medical research are as well investigated as her spiritual foundation beliefs, such as unconditional love. Moreover, she builds a pervasive case about the physical, emotional, and social implications of alcohol consumption - leading up to significant medical consequences. The author’s background in law, public relations, and investigative research results in a rich tapestry of written material that is both evocative and convincing. Her conclusions are woven from a place of deep courage, curiosity, clarity, and connection. Ultimately, Christy Osborne leaves the reader with a desire to begin an experimental reset journey of 40 alcohol free days or to continue on a quest for greater awareness and aliveness. I read the book as a whole and immediately began the day-by-day journey of body, mind, and soul. Love Life Sober is a gift to women of all generations.

In short, "Love Life Sober" is a must-read for any woman seeking to change her relationship with alcohol through faith and science. Christy's compassionate and practical approach makes this book a beacon of hope and a guide for lasting change.
Alcohol is a chosen coping mechanism for me and many others. Jesus HAS to be involved in the freedom process because ultimately if we are living in His truth and peace, then we will turn to HIM in our time of need instead of alcohol. Christy is so relatable and does an amazing job of helping break down the reason we turn to alcohol, freeing us from the shame and stigma society plays in that role, and offering grace and tools to help us progress in our journey to freedom from alcohol. Jesus wants to fill the need that we believe alcohol fills for us. Christy shares her personal experiences that are SO relatable. She provides scientific and scriptural truth to help rewire our thinking so that we can be empowered and experience the joy and life God has for us. There are so many lies surrounding alcohol and Christy addresses every one of them in a down to earth way that I think we all can relate to. She also offers humor and hope that this is just the beginning of our journey to freedom and life! I also joined the "But Jesus Drank Wine" community and listen to the podcasts every week to keep in touch with like minded women who are wanting to break free from the hold alcohol has on our lives. It has been life changing.
Love Life Sober isn’t just about ditching alcohol; it’s about rediscovering yourself and building a life you truly love without the booze.
Christy Osborne’s writing feels like a friend who gets it—gentle, honest, and encouraging. The 40-day structure is approachable and actually fun, with plenty of helpful tools and reflections.
This book is a blend of science, psychology, and faith, wrapped up in daily reflections that gradually build into something powerful.
It’s not just about sobriety—it’s about growing closer to Jesus and finding comfort in the Bible during those tough moments. This guide is a wonderful resource for anyone exploring a sober lifestyle or looking for a stronger connection with themselves and their faith.
By the end, I felt empowered and motivated to stay the course and keep digging into my own sober journey & my faith!
Perfect for anyone who’s “sober curious” or looking for a supportive, realistic approach to cutting out alcohol.
Thank you to the author, Christy for my ARC and Net Galley, and the publisher for my ARC.
I cannot tell you the impact this book is having on my life. I haven’t completed it yet because I am doing it slowly when time allows, but it has helped me bring my focus back to Him and is helping me break down some beliefs around alcohol I didn’t even realize I had. A HUGE bonus is the community that brought me to this book and the 40 Day Alcohol Fast in the “But Jesus Drank Wine and Other Stories That Keep Us Stuck” private online community. Between this beautiful, easy to read and deep dive into Faith and how alcohol affects all facets of our life, it’s been a game changer!!! I have been familiar with modern ideology around alcohol abuse since early 2021 and been in several online communities and had some long stretches under my belt; all have been educating and amazing experiences ~ but bringing my Faith (which I had strayed so far away from) into it is a whole new beautiful experience and it feels like I am exactly where I am supposed to be right now with Coach Christy and Coach Meade and this gift of this beautiful book and accompanying community!!! Coach Christy is just the sweetest, too!!!
“The woman you get to grow into and become, the one who God has called you to be, is someone you’ll want to meet. She’s confident. She’s fun. She’s full of purpose. She’s waiting for you.”
Christy wrote those words on Day 22 of this book and it could not be more true. I discovered Christy’s podcast last year. Through it I found freedom from alcohol and most importantly found freedom in Jesus Christ. I wish I had this book a year ago. It is exactly what I wanted to pick up when I felt God nudging me to examine my relationship with alcohol. It’s beautifully honest about the realities of how alcohol negatively influences every aspect of our lives, and most importantly offers hope in letting go of the cultural story that alcohol is necessary to live a complete and worthy life. Christy points her readers back to the peace that can only come from Jesus with every single day of reading. You’ll feel like you have found a friend in Christy at the end of the 40 days, and you’ll feel like you found a new you as well.
Loved it! This book is a transformative journey that combines powerful, proven strategies to shift behavior with an incredible sense of grace. Christy masterfully frames setbacks as learning moments, turning potential pitfalls into valuable lessons that empower the reader.
Many behavior change books leave out the most important part—faith. This book is saturated with faith and grace, blended with practical advice to provide a powerful and holistic approach to changing your relationship with alcohol. This makes the journey not only more manageable but also spiritually enriching.
I felt such a connection to the personal stories that Christy shares. It made me feel understood and not alone in this journey. Each page is filled with heartfelt insights and practical advice that guides you through the 40 days with compassion and wisdom.
Whether you're just starting your sober-curious journey or looking for fresh inspiration, "Love Life Sober" offers a supportive and inspiring roadmap to a healthier, happier life.
This book is exactly what I needed. It is a total God story on how I came this book and I am incredible thankful. I am only at day 18 of the book but I can relate to so much that Christy has written: fom the late night google of “what is an alcoholic,” guilt, regret, numbing out, denying it’s a problem, trying to use moderation all the stuff we tell ourself I connected with. I am encouraged to know that I am not alone. I have done multiple fast from alcohol but this time the “why” behind it is different. Through the 40 day fast Christy helps you define your “why” and other though provoking ideas. At the end of each day she leaves you with a TiNA-tiny action step I posted a picture of a couple of them to encourage you. No mater where you are in your journey, sober curious, think you need a change, know you need to change, have tried but keep failing, you are already AF this book is for you! My TiNA to you:Take a step of faith, buy the book and allow God to move that mountain in front of you. Praying for you sister!

Love Life Sober is a wonderful way to reassess your relationship with alcohol. If you question how alcohol may be serving you or if you’d like to become curious about its effects on your body, your sleep, your relationships and even your faith, this book is for you! Christy Osborne weaves the truths about alcohol based on solid research, her own personal journey and the impact this potentially has on your relationship with God. If you, like me, think you may be giving that daily glass of wine more prominence in your day and in your mind than your Savior, this book is for you! Alcohol can rob you of so much and often we do not realize this until we see it from a different perspective. Take these 40 days of grace filled truths and find out for yourself like I did! Only Jesus satisfies the soul, everything else is fleeting and temporal!
I wish this book had been available when I first started to question my drinking, it would have saved me a lot of heartache and shame. I'd fasted from wine for Lent, and also done many 30 day Dry Januarys, but this is different. It is a true fast, where we abstain and spend time learning the truth about how alcohol affects our brain, body, and spirit and let Jesus into those places we may have been hiding. One of my favorite parts is the truth revealed that there is nothing wrong with you. You are not defective and you don't have a moral failing, alcohol is an addictive substance! This set me free and it offers hope to all who encounter this book. Jesus loves all of you, even the part that drinks a little too much. He wants better for us, that's all. Thank you, Christy, for this grace filled and fact based experience that I know will change lives for the better!
WONDERFUL. That pretty much sums up this book. If you’ve found yourself in a strained relationship with alcohol and want to take a break, this is the best tool to have in your toolkit. In the beginning of the book, Christy has us consider the fruit test. Galatians 5:22 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.” The question is: Is wine stealing your fruit? I’d have to give that a big Yes! Throughout the book you are encouraged to set aside false perspectives and believe and act upon what is true. I had become far too passive in my pursuit of change and wholeness and peace. Love Life Sober prods the reader to open the window of their mind to a new path…a new way or actually the Way.
As a newly somewhat sober person, this book has been a lifeline. The author does not pedal false hope or give preachy platitudes, but shares her story with honesty, compassion and humor. She leads the reader back to the truth that no matter how much you have been drinking, no matter what you have done, God has not abandoned you. He is with you in this struggle. The daily readings are accessible, encouraging, and are at just the right pace for those of us who are questioning our drinking. As you walk through the 40 day fast, the scripture, science, and coaching exercises help reshape your thoughts about alcohol. If you want freedom and peace, instead of the shame and anxiety that drinking sets into motion, this 40 day fast is a great place to start!
Have you ever been concerned about your drinking habits? Are you looking for a Christian based method to control your alcohol intake? Live Life Sober, by sobriety coach Christy Osborne, provides a guide to ending the hold alcohol may have on you by using analysis, meditation and prayer. She shares her own experiences, including painful ones like the death of her mother, that caused her to revert to heavy drinking. She helps the reader understand why drinking has become a problem and gives tools to help stop. Although Live Life Sober relies on an assumed strong Christian faith, the methods provided here will be helpful to any reader. 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, WaterBrook & Multnomah and Christ Osborne for this ARC.
I first heard Christy talk about her LLS book on a podcast and I was immediately interested. Specifically In terms of seeking a healthier lifestyle and eliminating/cutting back on a wine habit using the lens of Gods truth. However, I did not expect the book to truly change the way I think about alcohol and how it affects my mind, body and soul. I am on day 36 of the fast and I have never felt better. Each day/chapter in the book is insightful, Christ focused and has made me want to push alcohol out of my habit cycle. Additionally, the website and coaching BJDW offers helped elevate my experience. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is AF curious, seeking a change that centers on Gods love and healthy habits or just needs a reset.
This book is an answer to prayers. If you are a woman who questions her drinking and her faith, take this 40 day journey to see how science and faith connect. Christy helps you in every way, by telling her story, relating to you and leading you right into the arms of the One who is there for you every day of your life. You won’t put her book down when you finish because it’s a Bible companion for those of us who are trying to get it right and renew or begin our walk with God. She shows you how to stop beating yourself up and turn your life into the one you thought you lost. The chapters end with reflection that turns around your thought process into a healthy one, leading to fulfillment and the joy that waits for you.
Christy Osborne delivers such an eye-opening and grace-filled message in Love Life Sober. She shines a light on how our world glamorizes wine—especially among women—as a symbol of relaxation, connection, and even “self-care”. For those who loved the Lord and feel that nudge from the Holy Spirit to give up social drinking,( because He has so much more in store), her words really hit home.
Osborne reminds us that while the world says, “You deserve that glass,” God says, “You deserve My peace.” It’s a powerful call to lay down anything we put ahead of Jesus and pick up what truly fills us—Him. This book is honest, freeing, and full of hope. A must-read for anyone ready to let go of cultural norms and let God take His rightful place first in their hearts. 🙏💜
Christy’s personal story and her 40-day approach will resonate with so many women. We are consciously and subconsciously told that drinking alcohol (wine, especially) is an appropriate way to cope with the stresses of being women and moms. This book challenges that narrative using science and scripture. We so often obsess over our skincare routines, workout routines, diet, etc, when the thing that is usually wrecking the most harm in terms of mental and physical health is alcohol. Loved this book for its step-by-step approach. It’s a perfect read for women who’d never consider stepping into an AA meeting but who are questioning their drinking habits nonetheless.
I am currently just over 2 years alcohol free, and this book is such a breath of fresh air! There was something special in the early days of changing my relationship with alcohol where I had a hunger for reading ALL of the quit lit. What my heart really was thirsty for was, The Word. That’s what Christy brings with this 40 day fast, she brings Scripture, vulnerability, and science of what alcohol does to the body altogether. This is palatable and each day brings a bite size of information and thought provoking takeaways in the form of her TiNA. You’ll have to read it to find out about that! This is a perfect read for any sober seeking or sober curious friend or yourself!
This book and the author are proving to be the critical missing pieces in finding true freedom from alcohol. I have read several quit lit books and have tried many methods. Christy's faith based yet scientific approach specifically written for women spoke directly to me. Her honesty in her story makes any reader feel in community and not alone. The time spent each day reading, reflecting, and journaling is easily managed and I look forward to opening this book to start my day each morning. Christ's truth woven through the pages of this book radiate through me on a heartfelt level and I am feeling an overall transformation in my relationship with alcohol AND the Lord.
I have been struggling with being AF for about a year. I would go a month or two, sometimes weeks, but always turned back to the bottle. I knew something was missing in all of the other quit lit books I’ve read…. God. Christy brought EVERYTHING all together and the most important to me was tying in scripture with all of the science stuff I already knew. WOW!! Life changing!!! If you are a Christian woman struggling with being AF… this is the book for you! Christy goes in depth about so many subjects that have helped me stay off of alcohol and this time I think for good!! Thank you so much Christy for this life changing tool to keep in my tool box! Forever grateful!
