The bottom of the bottle is where Nicholas often found himself. He needed the alcohol to numb the pain he knew he would never escape. His past life would forever haunt him – worse than the ghosts of Christmas past. Nicholas couldn’t remember the last time he was sober during the Christmas holiday, and he had no plans of starting now. That was until his closest friend called him for a favor. Things will change for Nicholas in an instant, but he has to decide if it would change him for the better or for worse.
Angel was tired of life beating her down, and she couldn’t keep relying on her brother to fix her mistakes. Yet, once again, she found herself needing a helping hand, and her brother swooped in to save the day. Only, he couldn’t physically be there to protect her, so he sent someone he trusted; someone she disliked. Now, Angel has to rely on another person to keep her and her two boys safe from more disasters during the holiday season.
Two hearts – both broken for different reasons are forced together. Can they heal one another, or will their resentment towards life have them barreling further into the darkness? The holidays can normally work its magic, but there are some things even the season of giving can’t fix.
How it Started: 🎶Who took the merry out of Christmas🎶
How it ended: 🎶Let’s put the merry back in Christmas, come join the fun🎶
I almost forgot how depressing some of these WinterCrest Holiday books were! This prologue tried to take me OUT!!! 😩😭
Nicholas is a physician that takes pride in saving lives and being the best father he could possibly be. After the unthinkable happens mere days before Christmas, he has sworn off the holiday and everything associated with it. There is too much pain attached to it and he is drowning in grief.
Angel is the single mother of twins after her ex husband showed her over the years that he took a master class at fk 🥷 university. She is struggling to give her boys the basics and after pouring into a man that meant her no peace she is not sure how she will recover. As if things in her life weren’t bad enough the little she had left was also snatched leaving her and her boys with the clothes on their backs and nothing else.
This was a really heartbreaking feel good story about restoring the magic of Christmas! I loved how Nick and Angel rallied together for the sake of the children ultimately healing them all from the inside out. There were a few discrepancies in the story but overall I enjoyed my introduction to Melanie. I discovered her thanks to BRAE and would definitely read more from her in the future.
A good read for the holidays that reminds you there is always a rainbow after the rain.
With that being said, this does discuss heavier topics (grief, murder, suicidal thoughts, alcoholism). For anyone really feeling the blues during this time of the year I would definitely consider picking up a story that can give you that jolly feel.
This story will have you emotional. When women like Natasha can't have the man they'll take it out on the child. Nicholas was excited to spend the Christmas Holiday with his son. However when he got to his estranged wife house to pick up his son. It reminded him of when he lost his little sister. The scene broke him down and changed his life forever. Nicholas lost his faith and hated Christmas. The loss of his son turned him into a shell of who he once was. Outside of work. Alcohol became his vice. I can see why Angel divorced Jeff. He was an arrogant disrespectful bastard. Not too many women are going to put up with cheating and definitely not a child outside of their marriage. Jeff did the bare minimum for their two sons since Angel didn't want to be with him. He knew one of his twins were disabled but his lousy ass didn't give a damn. Even when her house burned down and her and her children lost everything. Angel brother Chris called on his best friend Nicholas to help Angel and her sons because Jeff wouldn't do s**t. I really never understood why Angel didn't like Nicholas because he grew up with her and her brother. Nicholas was had a hard time having her and her sons in his home because it reminding him of the loss of his own child but I also noticed it helped him during his grieving as well. Angel sons brought out the softer side of Nicholas. Him and Angel bumped heads often but that soon turned into them being attracted to each other. It was heartbreaking seeing Nicholas snap when he saw that Christmas Tree in his house that his mother, Angel, and the boys put up. It was also at that moment. Nicholas realized he needed help. Four years of grieving and holding in the anger from what Natasha did to their son. The way Jeff showed up at the end was pitiful. It showed his bitterness towards Angel and their sons. I was so glad Nicholas checked his ignorant ass.
Nicholas was grieving and just existing but then Angel and the boys brought happiness and life back into his life. Nicholas and Angel’s relationship gave that Christmas feeling of hopefulness, happiness and love. The end had me smiling 😌
Mel B good read! Oh my Lord, I love how Angel never let her situations stop her. I love how much she loved her family. Nicholas had some serious pain although it was war rented he needed to learn how to channel his pain in the correct way. This read is so full of love, redemption, communication and love. The boys are some old souls, they are the best. Thank you for allowing him to be a normal kid. Mel B great read!! Merry Christmas🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I'm glad that Nicholas and Angel were there for each other in their time of need. It sad that he had to grieve over his only son. I don't understand why women won't just let them go. But hurt people hurt people even when it ain't right. I really enjoyed this book it shows how people never forget their loved ones but can find ways to cope without giving up on life themselves. We all know it's not easy losing someone you love.
This was an emotional read for me. We never know what someone is going through. I must say I loved from beginning to the end. I recommended to some of my friends. If you have loss someone close please get the help that we all desperately need. So glad that Nicholas and Angel found love in one another. He needed her and her boys just like they needed him as well. Very good read. Phenomenal
This was a great book. It's always the ones that argues all the time ends up with each other. I just really enjoyed their story and was glad Nick was able to start healing. Keep up the good work Melanie
Very good read and was emotional to a fault but worth the wait. I love how Angel changed Nicholas in has weakest time in his life with the help of the boys. Good story and better ending too..
Awesome storyline. Nick was suffering with his guilt & grief. Angel just needed a chance since she was a struggling single mother. Glad they were able to unite.
My first read by Author Melanie B, and she did not disappoint. I didn't want it to end😭😂. This was one emotional, heartbreaking, enemies to lovers Christmas story. My hear broke for Nick, cause Lord knows I couldn't imagine losing one of my babies in such a traumatic way💔😭. I felt him when he said he wanted to dig that ex-wife of his up, and kill her again, cause Bay-be😡😡😡. Jeff was the epitome of an ain't ish trashy bitter baby daddy🙄. The audacity of his mammy trying to convince Angel to stay with him after the bomb that was dropped on her on Christmas🙄😡. He didn't deserve her or those boys. Nick, Angel and her boys needed each other more than they realized. I loved watching them build a bond, and come to terms with their live for each other. I would Love to greet a follow-up on them💕
Nick ex wife was wrong for what she did. Angel ex husband needs to realize their marriage is over. I'm happy Nick went to go get help for his grief. I'm happy Nick let his guard to so Angel can also help with his healing journey.
Nick had been through something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy and my heart hurt for him. He didn’t want to let go, but didn’t know how to channel his hurt and anger. His ex wife was selfish and wrong on too many levels. Angel was making the best she could with her boys after losing what she thought was her forever. Jeff was bitter and a manipulative boy. It sad that the boys had to receive his half stepping but they had a better replacement. Together Angel and Nick had to work out things together and separate. Their loved proved to be strong and pure.
Nick was dealing with the grief of losing his son and Angel was dealing with losing her and her twin sons house in a fire. They came together restoring and healing together while creating new beginnings as husband and wife with a daughter on the way.
I really enjoyed this story. Grief is something especially when you lose someone the way Nick lost his son unfortunately that is reality these days people are so bitter because your not wanted anymore. Jeff was just a sad. I have a feeling he set that fire thinking Angel was going to come back to his home.so
Dealing with a loss of a love one is a hard pill to swallow. Nick was doing the best he could with the grief he had. Angel and the boys was what he needed to see there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Natasha did Nick dirty just because he asked for a divorce, you took something he can't get back. Selfish a**. Chris asked him for a favor but it turned into something much more. Angel had him feeling something he hasn't felt in awhile. Angel could have stayed with Cassie, but Nick volunteered them to stay with him. Jeff was an a**and a cheater. Nick took care of those boys like they were his own. Angel had Nick doing everything related to Christmas. He even started going to therapy as his fellow doctor suggested. Nick and Angel got married and have a daughter on the way.
You had your girl antsy because you know I like my sex scenes and it took awhile to get there but as usual you brought that fire 😂I loved the book and how Angel broke Nicholas down little by little. Very good read Sis!
Another good read from Winter Crest. I was so sad for Nick, for his ex wife to be so cruel and selfish, Angel just couldn't catch a break. Her ex was trash too. I love Winter Crest ♥
This story is so good and has a great message. The trauma that Nicholas went through had him in a choke hold. Having to help when Angel when she needed him was hard for him, but eventually it began his healing journey. Her and her boys started melting his heart and help him get the help he needed. The reality of this storyline was an emotional read for me. So many people are dealing with this trauma everyday. This author really touched on a very difficult subject with style and grace.
