FROM POPULAR AUTHOR OF WHY CHOOSE ROMANCE JAYCE CARTER

Book one in the Flocking It Up series

Trouble doesn' t find me— I go looking for it.

I' ve been rejected all my life— always too loud, too messy, too much. I thought joining the spirit world— full of vampires, werewolves and magical beings living alongside humans— would change that, but as an anomaly without a clan, I' m more unwelcome than ever. Instead of power and sexy trysts with hot immortals, I end up working as a courier just to survive. I got turned into a crow shifter and all I got out of it is a sucky, dead-end job.

However, when I make a delivery and instead find the vampire leader' s corpse, the stake that killed him in my hand, standing on the sidelines stops being an option. Without a clan to speak for me, I have no choice but to figure out who framed me and find the real killer on my own. Surrounded by people I can' t trust, in a world that has no place for me, I' ve got to use every skill in my arsenal to stay one step ahead.

They say a little mischief is good for the soul, but too much of it can kill you.

This whole story can be summarized with the following two statements: (1) The FMC can't get close to anyone so she pushes everyone away while at the same time ruminating about how close she is to her gal pals and family, while making jokes about everything blaming it on her Spirit and (2) FMC is a poster child for Body Betrayal Syndrome.

So many times she said "my feet just took me there without thinking." Or, "I know I should leave that's logical but my body is telling me something else."

Here are some examples from the story:
1. "Which was why my hands flew to the button of his slacks as if drawn there on their own..."
2. "The idea of being bound in such a way to anyone felt like a splinter wedged beneath my nail bed. My entire being rejected it so fully that the very thought made me feel ill. However, the crazy thing was, I didn’t feel the need to turn around and run away. Despite his anger, despite his threat, despite the insanity of his gaze, I didn’t want to walk out."
3. "With that, he left, and I didn’t move a muscle. I should have gone back to my own room, should have set a clear boundary between Kelvin and myself, but I just couldn’t."
4. "... the f'd-up situation between us. Even so, I rolled my hips, grinding against him, my body needy and out of any sort of control."

This may turn into a RH, and with it comes the dumb nicknames we're forced to read: feathers, little crow, and mischief.

I feel like not very much actually happened in this book? There's a murder mystery, but Grey is pretty incompetent in her attempts to take care of the whole situation. A girlfailure can be fun, but a signifcant amount of this book seemed to spent with her just completely wasting her time. Her survival is pure luck thanks to the various connections she has to men who are all (for some reason) obsessed with her...

Well, I did it! My first book with some sort of a shifter that's a ... crow!? That's the FMC, she's absolutely adorable, annoyingly reckless sometimes, and her inner crow likes to create chaos and prank people! She can't just help herself, haha. The first chapter of the book was LOL.

I liked the mystery, the plot, the world building, the possible harem. There wasn't too much steam, but it worked for this book. But I do hope the next books will be steamier. I NEED the next book, mkay!??.

Grey is a crow the only one in existence. When she was changed she thought she might just find a place to belong except she’s still on the outside looking in. When one of her deliveries goes horribly wrong she has to clear her name and fast. The problem she’s an outsider with no one to speak for her and the people offering help she just doesn’t quite trust. Some for very good reason you’ll see. In the end a surprising turn of events and a whole new way for this crow to make mischief.
I love this world and the spirits and humans living in it side by side. Grey is absolutely a treat. She’s funny, sarcastic, wild, crazy and at the core lonely and looking for her place. She’s the perfect blend of strong and vulnerable. The story is enthralling. The twists are amazing and what the reader gets is a wild adventure. I sincerely hope there’s more to come!.

This was such a fun and funny read! It’s not marked as a romcom but Grey is a hoot! The situations she puts herself into constantly 🫣🫣🫣!! Grey was sassy and intriguing and at this points it’s anyone’s guess which of the guys in her life will end up in her harem.

Chaos personified

It was a little chaotic trying to figure out what was going on, but with a character that is surrounded by chaos and mischief , could I really expect any different.

There was no straight path with this plot. Characters that seem important are introduced and then not really interacted with again. It leaves the reader wondering who is going to end up being important in later books. Overall, it was a chaotic adventure that had a complex character with a lot of emotional baggage at the center. I'm interested to see where the author takes it.

This new series has me in its grips. I was in a state of trying to figure out who miss crow really is and who the elusive dream is supposed to be. Could she be what ties all the territories together and create harmony? This is going to be a wild ride and I am here for it.

This author is in my TBR pile, which is getting out of control, and after reading Flock List, her work has moved straight to the top!

This book had such a great sense of humor running through it. I was 100% in after the opening scene of Grey, our FMC, delivering a questionable package to a were at the Alpha's home. I am laughing now just picturing it.

Grey's signature tone of humor, snark and vulnerability is expertly done by the author. I immediately fell in love with her and her story. The author wonderfully incorporates common traits of the bird that lives within her. I love that she doesn't have a "super" shifter Alpha beast waiting inside. Instead, we get this kind of wonky creature that clearly Grey needs to work with more. I loved that the bird inside parallel's her pre-shift life as being a loner, outcast and unsure of her future.

The other characters are as richly depicted. Well, as much as the author wanted to reveal to us, this is. Two love the love interests are readily apparent. We get to see a lot of Galen (Were Alpha) and Kelvin (Vamp Fit-It). But others are lurking which adds to the mystery and intrigue. We know they are interested in her but what are their intensions and motivations?

Honestly, this book is so good, I could rave about the author's talent regarding world building, character development and compulsive page turning mystery intrigue. The originality displayed is amazing and I am totally hooked.

This is a slow burn as to spice and even really the romance part. We certainly see and feel it but no significant payoff in my mind. Grey is almost pathological in her need to be free physically and emotionally. She continually denies help and potential solutions for her dire situations because they are perceived as to committing. Again, the imagery of a bird in cage plays perfectly.

This book was so much fun to read. The laughs alone are well worth it! And I can't wait to read MORE!

*I received this book free from Totally Entwined.*

The very first line of this book captured my attention. "When exactly had I become a dildo delivery girl?"  I was not sure what to expect, but I can guarantee it was not what I read.

Grey was human and one night turned into a crow. She hates transforming, hasn't learned to fly, and for some reason she isn't considered a Were. Since she doesn't technically belong to a group, she's stuck working for the Justices and basically being a delivery girl. She's mouthy and makes enemies everywhere, but she also has this kind of following of men who want her to be with them so they can protect her.

First there is Kelvin the vampire. She absolutely does not like vampires, but for some reason keeps getting drawn to Kelvin. He is always there, showing up when she would least expect it.

Then there is Galen the werewolf alpha. She has always felt safe in his home and all he wants to do is protect her and wanting her to stay and be his mate is how he knows he can achieve that goal.

Ruben her boss, is an odd man. He tries to help her in the only way he can...so when he kisses her it is a little bit of a shock.

Grey is drawn to all three men, and maybe a few others, but she's only fully intimate with one....and have to say, I was not expecting the one she chose. Besides that, she's trying to find who framed her and why. She doesn't trust anyone enough to let them help her, so she embarks on some crazy schemes to find the evidence she needs.

Flock This is a crazy ride! Toward the end it is evident who framed her, but there are so many twists, turns, and surprises that it easily kept my attention. Honestly, you just never knew what Grey was going to do next. The only part that I did not truly care for was the fact she was basically attracted to everyone. That part got old after a while.

After reading the synopsis and the sheer beauty of the cover I was heavily drawn to this book, the fact that I am a bird lover and Mother also helps! 🐦
I've read a few of this Author's previous works and have thoroughly enjoyed them but this story seemed something more unique and curious. Yes, the plot essentially evolves around the paranormal world of shifters, vampires and others but for me it held a wonderful setting of really interesting characters that created a sense of kaos and intrigue. Literally the plot revolves around Grey, the lead female who is a shifter, a crow in fact. But one that has no unity or connection to her own clan or flock in this scenario.... otherwords she is a totally solitary shifter. But her shifter animal being a crow is what is so outstanding, she is full of sass, disobedience, trouble and plot driven but lacks her full potential as a flying bird.
From the first page, readers are blessed by the Author's sense of humour with this story and for me it was the capturing concept that drew me further into the story. The other aspect I enjoyed was the mysterious thrill of it being a reverse harem story and the sense of protectiveness that is displayed towards Grey and her safety by four males from different identity groups ( vampires, weres).
I thought this was an incredibly well created story filled nicely with action, drama, humour, mystery, suspense, sexual tensions although not too heavy or steamy and an incredible cast of really entertaining characters and scenarios throughout..... oh and a cliffhanger to draw out the much needed 'more' from this Author's wild view of storytelling.

The title of this book already made me all kinds of excited, and the book itself absolutely did not disappoint! "Flock This" is the start of a new paranormal why choose series, with an fmc who's perfectly sassy and a whole bunch of men who are head over heels for the mischievous girl. I love the way this author manages to complete a mayor storyline in the first book, while simultaneously introducing a new storyline as well. The whodunnit trope was done perfectly, and I loved Grey's investigative spirit looking for evidence about the real culprit.

Even though I believe all possible partners for Grey are introduced in this first book, the romance part is slow building, with a little touch of spice and clearly more to come. I'm not sure if all the men I'm thinking of now will ultimately end up in Grey's harem, but I'm definitely voting for Ruben, Knot and Galen right now. I'm always game for a man who's stoic and a little aloof at first, but shows his fire when it comes down to it. And Knot's touch of chaos would definitely make their lives a lot more interesting.

So yeah, "Flock This" was a great start to a paranormal why choose series with some interesting world building, a growing mixed harem and a fascinating storyline. I can't wait to find out what's next for these characters!

Meet Gray, who believes life has been reduced to being a di**o delivery person. Little does she know her life is going to get a whole lot more interesting. And not in a good interesting way either.

Someone frames her for murdering a vampire. Unfortunately, being a turned crow shifter with no clan and pack further complicates the problem as she can be executed without a fair trial. Queue the line of males in her life hoping to save her.

Galen - alpha wolf shifter (wants her as his mate, probably in love with her). part of the council that works with Justices
Kelvin - lone vampire who works for the Justices. Grey infiltrates the vampire lair and pretends to be Kelvin's thrall.

Possibly part of the harem?
Porter - druid, helping Grey investigate.
Ruben - a powerful Justice
Harrison - an empath, Ignis' brother.
Knot - Mysterious man that made Grey a crow shifter

We learn (really late) there are four families that make up the council. The Weres, Graves, Mind, and the Natures. Each being one of the Mmc’s.

I hope people pick this series up because it's totally worth a read. Gray is a fun, sassy and hilarious lead character. It definitely is plot driven with great interactions between the characters. So expect a slow burn.

Beware of the Cliff

Maybe the author can put it onto the kindle program for a wider audience.

Okay, deep breath here....this was a very ling detailed somewhat deown out story. Now, the story was good that's why I stayed butttt I did glaze over certain parts bc come on! I love all the men, Iluvvvvv Grey and her fiesty personality. Poor Roger, I Hope we see him again. What troubled me was whenever she would recount the story of finding the dead head vampire she never would mention the girl that she saw. And then towards the end it was caught and the author wrote in the Segway of her getting caught and almost killed. Who is that woman? Obviously a pawn. But how were the vampires going to blame a sickly human girl for killing the head of vampires? Doesn't seem plausible. Okay an introducing the friend that's a necromancer and she possibly had a one note stand with...I mean that was just weird and not explained enough! I loved her psychiatrist friend who.happened to be related to Harrison. Now I would like to know him more! Who is the red headed guy who made her a crow?!?!? Please tell me find out more! I love the idea of chaos! I'm secretly hoping she gets w the werewolf...he sounds so kind! Who will be apart of Grey's clan? All the unwanted people? That's a nice thought! I can't wait to read book 2. I never read a series before they are all done but the sample hooked me on fo show! Hurry up August, thank u drive thru!

Flock This is the first book in the Flocking It Up series and we start with a crow shifter who has a job as a courier. Things go pear-shaped when she makes a delivery to someone who’s just been murdered and is found with the bloody stake in her hands.

Grey doesn’t belong to any of the four clans but isn’t surprised as she has never felt as though she fits in anywhere. As she tries to find out who has framed her for murder, tries to stay alive, and maybe even find out who actually was the killer, we stay with her. Told in the first perspective, we see her innermost thoughts – most of which revolve around how chaos follows her and how alone she is. She isn’t actually alone though; she has friends and family she could turn to if she only trusted them enough.

Well-written and smoothly paced, this was an interesting story that just didn’t grab me as I wanted it to. As it’s the first in a series, I’m hoping to see more of the different players as the overall arc moves along. There are a couple of steamy scenes but nothing major. Most of the book is being sent down one alley or another, looking for the killer.

On the whole, it was enjoyable and recommended for anyone who likes urban fantasy.

The definition of chaos is - a state of utter confusion or disorder. This book is full of it. And the main female character has it in spades. Grey's life is full of chaos, but she seems to have embraced it fully and it now guides her life. By embracing the chaos that is Grey and everyone connected to her, will allow the reader to fully enjoy the plot to this book. I don't know how the author was able to reign in all that chaos but she did, amazingly well. The book was well written. The whole plot of the story will keep reader guessing how it is going to end. There are so many branches to this story that all coalesce to Grey - the members of the Justice Council, tasked with keeping peace - Weres, Graves, Minds and Nature along with the impartial Head Justice. As the tagline in the book description says - "Trouble doesn't find me— I go looking for it." Grey may be framed but she will not go down without a fight. Such a good story line. And I am excited to know that there will be another book in this series.
Such an enjoyable read.

This book is the first I've read with a crow shifter and I liked it! Our mischievous fmc is a bit of a mess, but it's humorous dialog that really makes the story. This isn't what I think of as a RH, however. She is good friends with half a dozen people, most of which are men. No truly romantic relationship exists between them. At least for now!

I admire the author's creativity and the manuscript was edited well. The characters are so personable, I found myself liking every one of them: a vampire, a werewolf, an empath, a crow shifter, and a suspiciously mysterious other paranormal representative. It's a game of serious consequences with us wondering where the truth lies.

There isn't any graphic sex for the first 2/3 of the book and there isn't much of it when it's there. There isn't any violence, but the entire story centers around the idea of it. There is a HFN with a nudge toward HEA and the series will be continued.

There's a surprise at the end that I never saw coming. No cliffhanger, though!.

Jayce Carter starts her new series off with a murder mystery, a mystical PNR with vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings. Grey is a crow shifter and her main purpose in life has been creating chaos and mischief on a daily basis. This is a slow burn with nonstop action, suspense, and so many questions about the men in her life. When she’s accused of murder, there seems little chance of her surviving because she doesn’t belong to any clan. Grey is very independent, protective, and her crow doesn’t allow her to be locked up.

It’s an interesting story that kept me engaged: Grey’s interactions with Galen, Kelvin, and Ruben are intense. She protects them, is attracted to them but is confused about their intentions, and really is unhappy about being alone. Her investigative skills put her in danger most of the time, the men try to keep her safe as she takes more chances, and a betrayal creates distrust. I can’t wait for the next book to get more answers and see how the RH relationship evolves!.

Jayce Carter always manages to drag me into her stories, all of them are so original and well written, the characters amazing and the worlds she creates are flawless.

This is the first book in her new series Flocking It Up, a fantasy storyline with some vampires, werewolves, druids and other supernatural beings that live among humans but with their own set of rules.

Our FMC is a stubborn, sassy little thing with a big mouth that gets her into trouble after trouble, all the romantic interests are unclear until now since its a super slow burn, but there are plenty promising male suitors for this one, and yes since I'm a sucker for punishment I always pick the "wrong" guy so for me, the red flag was obvious LOL, between us, I love him though.

This first book ends with a very subtle cliffhanger and I can't wait for what's next in this story!

This was an amazing paranormal book. It was a true emotional rollercoaster. It's the story of Grey aka little Crow and Kelvin. It's difficult being outcast but found being a carrier a level of protection in the paranormal world. When she delivers for Grives head leader only to find him dead and the worst part she holding the murder weapon. When Grey runs to find out who really is the murderer. It leads her to an adventure. I was amazed by the relationship with Kelvin
it was blossoming to end up seeing the betrayal. Now I am looking forward to seeing what happens next who will win Grey's heart. I recommend you read this book.

Book 1 in Jayce Carter's new Flocking It Up series was a solid read. Grey, a crow shifter, seems to be a murderer. But with no clan to support her, she is in serious trouble with only herself as her advocate. She is a strong, independent, intelligent woman, determined to vindicate herself. She soon possibly has the help of 3 men for the supernatural world Galen, Kelvin, and Ruben. It has a well-paced storyline, compelling characters, drama, sizzle, steam, and some twists, I'm looking forward to more.

First time reading this author and it was a slow start for me… but then Greys inner snark caught me. Her humor in the face of her own loneliness. Her h willingness to bring possible harm to others even though it could keep her alive.

Grey drew me in and I was hooked. Not sure who her men are going to be … pretty sure Kelvin has some SERIOUS groveling to do. Maybe Porter? Maybe Rubin? Maybe Gaelin? Maybe Harrison cause he almost made her purr??? Maybe someone we haven’t even met yet?

This ended way too soon … I need to see what chaos she falls into next.

This is going to be one of my favorite why choose reads. It's even better that it doesn't seem to be a wash and repeat of current stories out there.

This appears to be leading to a six-guy harem, possibly...if all the guys introduced were pointing in that direction. And, of course, there's at least one that is difficult to accept (for accurate reasons).

But, I loved the progress of the story/plot. I loved the characters and how everyone seemed individual and not the same character with a different name. The humor and banter were great. The slow burn and tension were great. Even the small steam that was included was done perfectly.

So. Yes, absolutely loved this one.

Crow shifter - Grey is dropped in a Supernatural World where she is completely out of her depth. Being without a clan she's on her own with no back up when she's offered a job with the Justice Department delivering important letters & parcels to all the Supernaturals. That is until her delivery lands her as the prime suspect in a murder. It starts her on a journey to uncover the real killer and to find people that she can rely on.

I loved Grey she was full of wit and sarcasm even in dangerous situations. This was a cracking start to this series and the last chapter of this book lead up to a knockout cliff-hanger-ish ending. I'm dying to get my hands on book 2 now.

Wow this was a great read to the Flocking it Up series and Jayce did not disappoint. There is so much gong on this book, at times you don’t know which was is which. The FMC, Grey is a spitfire and spunky as heck. She is always opening her mouth and getting herself in trouble. But trouble follower her like a second skin. There is murder, mystery, great character building and a slow burn. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Grey and her flock in the next book.

One Little Crow, A Whole Lot of Chaos

Grey was in the wrong place at the wrong time (again) when she gets framed for a murder. Basically, if she didn’t have bad luck she’d have no luck at all. It’s a mad scramble to prove her innocence - will she find the evidence in time? This story is set in a unique world with unique clans and characters, making it unlike anything Ms Carter has written. I loved the adventure of it, and the end came as a complete surprise (surprises!) to me. A fantastic story in a fascinating world.

This book is funny and consuming all in one. I love the guys, even if they don't get along with the FMC at first. There's just something so appealing about cocky paranormal men that isn't attractive IRL. The FMC has gone through a lot in her past, and it seems like she can just never catch a break. The characters are well written and the plot is fantastic. I look forward to reading the rest of this series!.

I really enjoyed this. Grey is everything I love in Female leads. She’s quirky and fun and not afraid to be herself. Throw in some hunky dudes and you’re all set. The world building was good, and although I thought the book started off a tiny bit slow, it quickly picked up. Can’t wait for more.
