Emilia is defeated, and the Eastern Territories are once again safe from the corruption of dark magic, but all actions have consequences.
While his home rebuilds, Valian finds himself in chains, headed to the imperial capital, Soltar. There, he’s to either die in the sands of the arena, or stand trial for the death of an imperial princess.
Not all is as it seems, though. A dark shadow moves, while corruption eats away at the heart of the greatest city in the empire.
Can Valian escape the dark machinations in which he finds himself surrounded, or will he become the tool by which the empire falls?
Well its about damn time! This was well put together. Outstanding read. All the characters flo together the pace moves along smoothly. Don't make me wait to long for the next book! Really I'm not kidding.
I am a big fan of Ryan Evans’ Alpha Rising Awakening (book 1), and Forsaken (book 2). Both stories were very compelling, I didn’t want to stop reading. I enjoyed every chapter and could hardly wait for the release of Unchained (book 3) to find out the next part of Valien’s journey. Unfortunately, three things went wrong: 1) it took too long for the author to write it. 2) there were too many filler sentences that added nothing to the story. 3) the book seems unfinished. In books 1 and 2 we are able to see each story from start to finish; from Valien’s awakening and growing into becoming the head of his own house then in book two watching him develop into an adult house leader with strong values, fighting against injustice and protecting the people he loves, destroying Emilia and her cohorts in Tors Rest. In book three (unchained) we don’t get to see the end of Valien’s journey to freedom. He is still on the run and hasn’t freed Kayla from the grips of her father. How is that a good ending for this book? I don’t get it. It seems the author either couldn’t think of a better way to end this part of the journey (ran out of ideas?) or just wanted to keep the reader wanting more waiting for his next book. If so, bad choice. Readers will always come back for more when the story-telling is good (see JK Rowling or Dan Brown). If you want to write a book series based on a character, that’s fine but each book should be a complete story. It should have a good beginning and a great end onto itself. That is what keeps the readers coming back for more. They want to follow the hero in his next adventure. Not leaving the reader in the middle of a story with a cliff hanger and waiting three years to then find that the next book has no ending to that part oh the hero’s journey. On top of this, what happened to the audio book of Unchained? I enjoyed Zachary Webber’s narration as Valien Faro in books one and two. I was looking forward to listening to his narration of book three. Again, I am very disappointed after waiting so long to find out how this story ends. No satisfaction from book 3. 😢
The only thing negative I have to say is that it ended!
I throughly enjoyed the novel. I read a chapter a day along with my work schedule. I went on vacation and the book was so awesome I found it taking me out of the vacation. I love the graphic descriptions and power fantasy that Mr. Evan’s evokes in his writing! A Wonderful world was set up in the first two books but now it’s time to delve into Evan’s wild side with gladiators, noble intrigue and a new force(no spoilers 😈)
For fans of such tv shows as “Spartacus” will thoroughly enjoy this novel. I feel saddened audible stopped promoting his first book but I’m gonna try to get the word out for this author. If you like game of thrones but always wondered what if werewolves ruled the realms the dark wolf series is for you
Mr. Evans if you see I can tell you I can’t wait for the installment! I turned down reading Stephen King for your books! Keep up the drama keep up the suspense! I want to see more of the elves in your next installment !
Found this budding series to far surpass my expectations. Tho it's a new writer, they have a good style, and attention to detail. It's a mostly unique story so far. My only disappointment would be the gaps between books. I understand it's difficult, but most readers start to forget the important details after awhile. You can forget how interesting a series was. Specially if you read a lot of different books.
Would highly recommend, and looking forward to the next one. (Hopefully not years away)
Picks up and gets going. This is a enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next installment in the series. Action plotting conspiracies all Of it brings enjoyment to the series.can’t wait for partv4
Great story. There were few misspellings that make you reread the sentence to make sure you understood what you just read. But the story more than makes up for it. Can't wait for the next book
Evans has done it again. This one had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I am drooling with anticipation for the 4th installment of the series
A far, far better book than the second one, but not nearly as good as the first. We are still in the dark magic territory, but the silliness of the second one was lifted, and we are back to the gravitas of the first.
