Bowen Penhallow has always been a loner, studying dark and ancient magic on a mountaintop in Wales. He prefers it that way, but when his friend Colin—who happens to be a ghost—asks him to attend a Yuletide wedding at a grand estate deep in the Welsh countryside, Bowen reluctantly agrees.
Tamsyn Bligh is not a witch, but she makes her living off of them. As a procurer and seller of magical items, Tamsyn’s business is not always above board, but she’s been trying to fix that (mostly.) Bowen is an occasional customer—as well as the star of several of Tamsyn’s dirtiest dreams—but she’s been around enough witches to know that, as a human, getting involved with one is not the smartest idea. She’s finagled an invite to the Witchy Wedding of the Century in the hopes of finally making a score big enough to retire. Just one priceless magical artifact from Tywyll House would set her up for life.
But Tamsyn isn’t the only one sneaking about in Tywyll House, and the mix of a very strong spell combined with a wedding mishap transports Bowen and Tamsyn into Tywyll House’s past, to the Yuletide Celebration of 1958. As Bowen and Tamsyn work together to get back to the present, they must also face off with the origins of Tywyll House’s haunting, the suspicions of their fellow witches…oh, and the fact that somewhere between the mistletoe and the bonfire, they might be falling in love.
Born in Virginia and raised in Alabama, Rachel Hawkins has been writing since Kindergarten when her first book, a tense thriller involving a unicorn, a witch, and a princess, was called, “very imaginative!” by her teacher and “a searing work of genius” by her mother.
Since then, Rachel has written over a dozen books for children and adults (sadly all unicorn-free thus far), and been published in more than twenty countries. As Rachel Hawkins, she wrote the New York Times bestselling THE WIFE UPSTAIRS, a Southern Gothic twist on JANE EYRE that the Southern Review of Books called, “a thrill ride,” and Entertainment Weekly dubbed, “a gothic thriller laced with arsenic.” Her latest thriller, RECKLESS GIRLS, also debuted on the New York Times list with Kirkus calling it, “a soapy, claustrophobic page-turner.”
When not writing modern Gothic thrillers as Rachel Hawkins, she also pens paranormal romantic comedies under the name Erin Sterling. Her debut romance, THE EX HEX, was a Book of the Month pick as well as a New York Times and USA Today Bestseller.
Rachel currently lives in Auburn, Alabama with her husband, son, and five cats. (Yes, five. She knows.). In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and picking up an assortment of creative hobbies she will give up on after a week or two.

I can't wait to FINALLY have some free time to read this book after YEARSSSSS waiting for it!!!
****************************************** A cover!? There's a cover and I almost missed it! It looks adorable, I can't wait till it's fall again.
****************************************** Update: Sadly this book has been postponed, thus instead of coming out this year it's going to come out next year. But I hope the summary remains the same, because it sounded very fun and interesting. Regardless of everything I'm still looking forward to this book!
******************************************* There's a summary!

Can it be October already?
******************************************** ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? I WAS SECRETLY WISHING FOR A THIRD BOOK AND THERE'S GOING TO BE ONE?
While reading the second book I always knew deep down that the second Penhallow brother deserves his own story and since these books are rom-coms I wonder who's going to be his love interest. Hmm.
I absolutely adored the first two books, "The Ex Hex" and "The Kiss Curse" both gave off really cozy and comfy fall vibes. I was a little confused on whether this was supposed to be a "fall" book or a "Christmas" book. However, the book was still cute and I am so happy to see that another Penhallow brother got his story.
This story follows Bowen Penhallow and Tamsyn, who was featured in book one. Bowen is one of the Penhallow witches where Tamsyn is human. Tamsyn works for Bowen trying to find special artifacts or pieces that hold magic for him. However, he only wants her to work for him and him exclusively. When Tamsyn decides to take "one last job" for herself she walks into more than she can handle. To make matters worse, Bowen is there. While fighting to get their hands on the special artifact they came there for, they are both transported back into time and figure out that the only way back is to change whatever needs fixed.
*:・゚✧What to Expect*:・゚✧ ✨Witch x Human ✨Time Travel ✨One Bed Trope ✨Boss x Employee ✨Grumps x Sunshine
In this book, I felt that the relationship was underdeveloped. We went from nothing to everything with no build-up in the middle. I did love the banter between the two main characters and I will say that I feel this one had more spice to it then the first two did. Overall, I enjoyed the first two more but this was still a enjoyable, fun, and fast read. I did enjoy the "time-travel" concept they included into this one, but it can be cliche if not done correctly.
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager, and Erin Sterling for access to this e-Arc in exchange for an honest review.
I’m totally captivated by another bewitching romance featuring one of the charming Penhallow brothers, taking us on a quick trip to the Graves Glen universe! This book is particularly special with its haunted house theme that intertwines elements of "Back to the Future," "The Time Machine," and "Doctor Who," as it involves rewriting the past to save lives in the future.
This story focuses on the quirky Penhallow brother, Bowen, with his perfect beard. He hires the best acquirer for tracking down magical items: the breathtaking, free-spirited Tamsyn Bligh. Despite a past incident involving Tamsyn's brother, Rhys, that nearly endangered Rhys and Vivienne with a cursed candle, Bowen decides to work with her. Even though their mistletoe kiss left him muddled and Tamsyn admitted she couldn’t mix business with pleasure, they remain reluctant coworkers, searching for magical artifacts together.
During Christmas, while Bowen is spending the holidays with the large Penhallow clan in Graves Glen, Tamsyn gets lonely and looks for extra work. She stumbles upon a strikingly alluring job offer that pays $1 million, which could relieve her financial worries and allow her to quit her job for good.
Her job requires her to attend a wedding at the foreboding, gothic, and eerie Trywxyll House to find a very valuable piece of jewelry for her secret client. However, she doesn’t know that Bowen will also be attending the wedding at the request of his longtime school friend, Declan. The catch is that Declan is dead, and his ghost wants to reconnect with his ex-fiancée, who is about to marry someone else at this wedding.
The two meet at the eerie estate and decide to combine their powers to find the magical artifact. What they didn’t expect is to be targeted by powerful magic that transports them back to 1957, to the same eerie house but free of ghosts. There, they meet the house's ancestors and uncover the big secrets that haunt the place. Can they find a way to set things right and return to the present without altering future events? As their attraction grows stronger with each moment, they must navigate their feelings and the web of secrets they need to unravel.
Overall, I adore this series! This book is an absolutely entertaining, magical, high-chemistry, witchy time travel experience that I highly recommend. I’m eagerly looking forward to reading more books in the series, whenever the author is ready to take us on another journey into Graves Glen.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Harper Voyager for sharing this addictive series' digital review copy with me in exchange for my honest feedback, which I highly appreciate

Incredibly entertaining. Bowen was such a goner for Tamsyn from the very beginning and Tamsyn was hysterical.
I've really enjoyed this whole series. They have been entertaining from start to finish regardless of any smaller issues I've had with them. The first two have a more Halloween/Fall vibe and this one was more Christmas, but any contemporary magic settings are 😍
I will say the relationship in here went from 0-100 emotionally super fast and the whole reason they believe they're sent back in time gets no page time. They keep saying they need to fix something and then never do anything to fix it. BUT all that took a back seat to two really charming characters and witchy vibes ✨
Would highly recommend this whole series for anyone looking for witchy vibes and loveable characters.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Why? Well, it takes place during December, and they have something important to do by the 24th. They celebrate Yule, which is like witchy Christmas, so this is definitely a perfect read for the holidays.
I won’t lie, I’m rounding up because the last 25% had me reading so FAST and the spice scenes were delicious! But, the book was super confusing at first—the world-building was fine, but the intro to the plot and where it was going? I was like, what the heck is happening? You get a lot of loose threads that, yes it's all tied up at the end but super rapid fire.. which is not my style if im honest.
Once you grasp what’s going on, though, it picks up and by that time you'll want to stick around to see what happens at the end!
ᴛʜɪɴɢs ɪ ʟɪᴋᴇᴅ: 🖤spicy scenes (they saved the book tbh) 🖤the grumpy mmc 🖤easy plot (even if there were many subplots) 🖤short book
I recommend this book to anyone that want a witchy vibe inside a Holiday book!

I was honestly very sceptical going into this book. After briefly reading the synopsis, I wasn’t sure it was going to live up to the previous 2 books. And furthermore, it seemed to be set at Christmas time which kind of confused me given the last two books were very focused on the lead up to Halloween. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a go. Complete the trio.
Each story seems to have a rule or warning and this time was no exception: “Personal rule,” she told him. “Never get involved with a coworker. But. Also a personal rule: Never let a good mistletoe moment pass by.”
10% in and I WAS LOVING IT!! Erin totally won me over and very quickly. Her storytelling was in full power and her use of characterisation was on point 🤌🏼
As before, new book, new main characters. This time around the storyline was focused on Bowen (the third brother) and Tamsyn Bligh. By this point in the series we have a fairly good idea of Bowen’s personality. He is a top-class loner, living alone in Snowdonia in the Welsh mountains. And that is just how he likes it. Tamsyn, on the other hand, we don’t know a lot about. She did have a previous appearance in book 1 - pretending to work for the College of Witchery in Graves Glen; she gave Rhys and Vivienne a Eurydice Candle to capture a ghost during there curse hunting days. She is now an Acquirer. Aka, a human who sells magical artifacts. It is a shady business and deeply secretive.
Or in other words: ‘He was a mess and in no shape to offer anything to anyone. She was smart and beautiful and sharp as an obsidian blade.’ 🫣
Oh yes, and Tamsyn just so happens to work for Bowen, under an exclusive contract, to acquire magical artifacts for him. And to add to the mix, they may just happen to be absolutely head over heels for each other 😈 and boy, oh boy, was it getting hot and steamy up in the castle 🏰🥵🤭
‘Happy. It had made her happy to see him there in the hallway in this weird-ass house, handsome and familiar and . . . solid. Safe.’ 🥰
Bowen is, reluctantly, spending December with his family in Graves Glen when his friend Declan-who happens to be a ghost-asks him to attend a Yuletide wedding at a grand estate deep in the Welsh countryside. Bowen agrees. Meanwhile, Tamsyn has finagled an invite to the very same Wedding of the Century in the hope of finding a magical artefact, priceless enough to retire on. Both find themselves at Tywyll House sneaking around when a wedding mishap transports them both into Tywyll House's past, to the Yuletide Celebration of 1957. They find themselves having to work together to get back to the present, all the while, they might be falling in love 😍
This book had a STRONG plot. Where the previous two books lacked, this book made up for in the bucket load!! Not only that, but the characters were SO strong and I loved that Erin kept our OG characters in the firmly mix 🪄 ✨ I particularly loved the addition of little Taran 🤭🤐
Overall, this book really blew me away. It totally took me by surprise; which I love. Isn’t it the best when books deliver so much more than you expected?! I honestly did not think I would connect with these characters. Especially because of my love for the first couple, Vivi and Rhys. But Erin came through with this POWERFUL couple that definitely brought a storm of time-travelling entertainment and, of course, magic ✨
Erin Sterling made me wait for The Wedding Witch, the third book in her series of witchy romance novels set in Graves Glen. It’s been two years since she released Book #2, The Kiss Curse, and I’ve spent the last 730 days dying to get my hands on the story of how Bowen Penhallow finds love.
And now that it’s here … and now that I’ve read it … I’m satisfied. Sterling doesn’t let her fans of the series down – the third book is amusing and clever, sweet yet sexy, and filled with plenty of her funny F-bombs.
But it’s missing a certain special something: Graves Glen at Halloween. Sterling takes the story in a different direction by setting it in the Welsh countryside during Yule, and then she throws in a time-travel element to boot. It works, don’t get me wrong, but the book doesn’t have the same warm and cozy fall vibe of the two that came before it.
The bedroom door is once again kept wide open, so be ready for it. It’s so wide open, in fact, that it’s more like the door has been taken off its hinges and chucked out the window, left to crash on the street below. The spicy scenes are pornmance for sure.
What’s sad is, the satisfaction I’m feeling for having now read The Wedding Witch is only temporary. Because I’m back to waiting, this time for the fourth book, aren’t I?
I loved the first two audiobooks in this series, but the narrator was switched for this one. While I can understand the need, The narrator of this audiobook should have done their research. Vivi and Gwen suddenly have the same welsh accent as the penhallows, not the Georgia accent they should have had. I’m shocked this made it though. I couldn’t finish it
My favorite of the series, I loved the combo of witchy magic and Christmas time travel. Our MCs are both a ton of feisty and fun and their chemistry was off the charts. I hope this isn’t the end of the series, but if it turns out to be, what a fantastic conclusion!
🎧 I read this one mostly with my ears. The narrator, Mary Jane Wells, did a solid job at bringing this story to life and adding an extra element of flare to this already vivacious story.
Read jf you like: ▪️time travel ▪️1950s setting ▪️spooky season meets Christmas ▪️one bed situation ▪️spice
Thank you Avon Books and Harper Audio for the gifted copies.
Unfortunately The Wedding Witch was not the conclusion I was hoping to read for the Ex Hex Trilogy. There wasn’t really physical descriptions of the characters (my complaint in all the books) and almost no character development for Bowen and Tamsyn. It was straight up insta-love trope and I didn’t vibe with it. The fact it was Christmas/Yule themed not Halloween was kind of a bummer.
The story felt like a rough draft that needed some plot work. The only upside was seeing the other couples from the previous books. The time travel/Parent trap story is tired and most of the conclusion is rushed with no real explanation.
Spice 🌶️ (1.5).
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and HarperVoyage for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
“From the moment you walked into that pub,” he said, “I knew you would be the making and the ruin of me all at once.”
The Goodreads description of The Wedding Witch is pretty solid, so I’ll jump directly to my thoughts. It’s a few years after The Ex Hex and The Kiss Curse, though the main characters in those books (and the Graves Glen location) are only very minor characters here. Instead, this book focuses on Tamsyn, a minor character from the first book, and Bowen, the third and final Penhallow brother.
The Wedding Witch was written under a pen name by Rachel Hawkins, author of very good thrillers Reckless Girls and The Villa, and her writing skills show here. But first and foremost this book is another light, fun read. There’s a bit of drama, and some bonus time travel, but nothing overly serious. The chemistry between Bowen and Tamsyn is again well done. Another enjoyable story, and I’ll be on the lookout for the next book in the series (perhaps finally about the Baby Witches?) 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
C'est loin d'être mon tome préféré dans la saga mais j'ai tout de même passé un bon moment : c'est plein de magie et de tension, c'est une belle romance et des personnages attachants... bref ça fait totalement le taff !
a very fluffy witchy christmasy rom com! this was cute and a bit cringe, and also a quick read. i didn’t feel too much about it and wish i connected with the characters more. everything was a bit rushed with them, but i did like the time traveling aspect
“From the moment you walked into that pub,” he said, “I knew you’d be the making and the ruin of me all at once, woman.”
Another fun, cozy installment in the Graves Glen series! The Wedding Witch follows our final Penhallow brother, Bowen. He hires Tamsyn, a non-witch, to be his personal procurer of magical items, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s insanely hot and they have great chemistry! Bowen and Tamsyn find themselves in a bit of a sticky situation when a procurement mission falls a bit off track…
I loved the first two books in this series, so immediately knew I had to read this one as well. While this is still light-hearted, I did find this one to be a bit higher stakes, which was exciting. *As a disclaimer, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and started this when I was pretty tired, so that could certainly be affecting my rating.* I didn’t like this one quite as much as the first two in the series. I found the beginning / first half to be a little slow and boring. I was feeling a little confused with all the characters being introduced and keeping track of their names. I also didn’t love the chemistry between the characters in the beginning; the banter was great and I like Tamsyn and Bowen as individual characters, but together they felt very rushed and lacking. I didn’t find myself rooting for them until much later on in the book. The conclusion was satisfying to me (but only if you don’t think too much about it). I have a lot of questions still because I don’t think each of the storylines were wrapped up or explained super clearly.
That said, the story picked up for me a lot in the second half! There is lots of action and adventure, and the characters’ chemistry picked up for me as well. I enjoyed that this one has a different feel and storyline than the first two books in the series. (I thought Ex Hex and Kiss Curse were extremely similar). I loved all of the magical elements in this one and especially the time traveling.
I thought the pacing was a little off and insta-love is just not my jam, but overall I thought this was a fun addition to the series and I’m happy I read it! A great cozy fall/winter read.
Thank you to Netgalley, Erin Sterling, and Avon and Harper Voyager for providing this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
This book was cringey and disappointing. I loved the first book and liked the second book. But this book was a hot mess and made no sense. I didn’t care about anything going on and the romance didn’t make sense to me. For that reason I only gave this two stars. Didn’t enjoy this one.
3.5 ★— ’Tis the season for Christmas-y reads! I read the first book in this series a few months ago, and while that one was middling, I wanted some holiday vibes mixed with fantasy elements, which is why I reached for this one. I have to say I didn’t read the book prior to this, The Kiss Curse, but the context from the first book was enough that I felt fine diving into this one.
Could you read this as a standalone just for the witchy Christmas action? Yes, though it might be a little confusing in places.
This book centers on the family’s third brother and his relationship with Tasmyn Bligh, a pretty badass woman who procures rare magical items and sells them to the highest bidder, which made her a very fun character to follow! Her dynamic with the book's MMC, told in a dual POV style, was pretty cute, especially since they start talking to each other early on, and the main plot kicked in quickly when they crossed paths again at a wedding. From then on, the book's time-travel element was well executed, and I thought their relationship development was enjoyable to follow.
Now, I’m not rating this higher because I kind of wish their time in the past had included a few more shenanigans. I almost felt like the premise had more potential than what ended up on the page, and the execution came off a bit lacklustre by the end. I know the cute romance was the focus here, but I was slightly disappointed overall.
Still, I think this is a nice palate cleanser for anyone looking for something winter-themed that also includes a bit of fantasy flair.
"The Wedding Witch" by Erin Sterling is a charming delight! Unlike the last two books, which I felt lost steam midway through, this book stays compelling and engaging the entire time. I really liked the characters, I found myself rooting for them and got invested in their growing connection. The banter is delicious, the tension is palpable, the time travel plot is fun and wacky, and there's only one bed!!! Excellent spice, good humor, great secondary characters, and a lot of witchy silliness. Perfect for both Halloween AND Christmas (though it's technically more of a Christmas novel). I had a ton of fun with this book!
Thank you to NetGalley, Erin Sterling, Avon, and Harper Voyager for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
This book was missing the magic of the first two books in this series.
We do not return to Graves Glenn in this book. Rather, it takes place in the Welsh village of Tywyll, which lacks the charm of Graves Glen. This is also a holiday book instead of a Fall/Halloween one.
The romance is also so disappointing. There was absolutely no YEARNING between the main characters. They literally kiss in the PROLOGUE! It didn’t feel like there was any real build up or tension to the romance. When they declare their love for each other (he realizes super early in my opinion) it comes out of nowhere. I wish we could have seen the development of their connection, which would have made me root for their love.
This book also involves time travel, which was not executed well. When all their woes are solved, we are still left with a lot of unanswered questions. Who are the ghosts when they first arrive at Tywyll House in the present day? Where did Carys go and how did she return? How did Declan come back? How did the spell get reversed? If Declan never disappeared, how did Bowen even meet and fall in love with Tamsyn, if the only reason he hired her was to help him bring Bowen back? It felt like the time travel was just a fun little gimmick needed to advance their love story, but I think if it’s going to be used the author should at least think all of these threads through.
Oh well. It IS romance and not sci fi so I can’t fault her too much. It’s a fun and cutesy light hearted read, but nothing too memorable. I liked the smut too lolol
Smell review: 4.5/5 - i was the first one to read my library copy and it smelled nice and fresh :)
2.75* This was an entertaining enough read but sadly nothing particularly memorable. I think its downfall was that it simply tried to do too much in too short a time. The pacing felt all over the place and although the elements it did have were interesting, they weren’t developed enough for me to feel invested or particularly care. I did like the characters but again, I wish they’d been a little more developed because they felt a little one dimensional after a few chapters.
