On Fire

Rate this book
Dad’s dead and I’m officially an orphan. Until my long-lost mom swoops in to save the day.

On paper, my new life in the US looks amazing. In reality, not so much. Mom’s a hot mess. Her husband is...hiding things. And as for Mason’s son, Nathan, well, not even a panty-melting body can make up for his personality defects.

It’s just as well he has two sexy AF friends. Pretty sure they’ll help me settle into my fancy new school. A tasty hot-boy sandwich is just the ticket. Or…perhaps not.

Clay is too busy being brooding and mysterious to know I exist and pretty-boy Ryan’s a Grade A f*ckboy with more notches on his belt than Harry Styles.

And…don’t even get me started on Nathan’s nasty ex, Megan, who seems determined to make my life hell.

It’s lucky I’m made of strong stuff. These entitled rich boys may think they’re better than me but trust me when I say they’re wrong. Once I graduate from Ridgeview Prep, I’m out of here, but in the meantime, it’s game on!

Well, assuming I survive that long.

I thought school was hazardous to my health, but it turns out it’s the least of my problems.

Looks like I may need Nathan’s help after all. Pity he hates my guts…

Ava Summers is a dark romance author who loves reading about feisty females and morally gray alpha males. She prefers books with a healthy dose of spice. If the heroine doesn't have to choose between her guys, even better! When Ava's not reading and writing, she likes to paint and occasionally run 10ks. She also spends way too much time keeping her rescue cat entertained.

This was such a great read! On Fire features a fiesty heroine who knows exactly what she wants! She runs circles around her new stepbrother and his two best friends until they are left unable to resist. This book has a great plot filled with drama, anguish, danger, great banter, and of course delicious smut!

Stepbrother ✔️

Ok

This was an ok reasonably entertaining book, very mild enemies to lovers from one mmc but in the whole be mean to protect you cliché and the other 2 went against him. It was more smut than plot which was very much secondary. Overall it killed a few hours but was nothing special.

Not a bad read. Was actually decent

This wasn't a bad read at all. It was actually pretty decent. The plot was kind of, eh, but hey, you just never know these days. The start was intriguing, but when you got closer to the end, it felt all rushed and wrapped up too nice and pretty.

I tend to like more gore, more action, and definitely more steamy, smexy times.

This book is really phenomenal! I love RH, but I usually read older characters, however Ava Summers has such a great storyline, her dialogue is realistic, and the narrative is detailed without being over done. Phee is finishing her senior year in a completely different country and wildly different socioeconomic status. There’s danger, betrayal, and depravity in her new home and family.

She portrays herself as confident, sexy, and tough as nails, but she’s really a soft hearted soul. Nathan, Ryan, and Clay are best friends and have their choice of any girl. Nathan is her stepbrother and he’s determined to send her back to the UK. They’re all attracted to each other, but Ryan truly sees her and their chemistry is exquisite. Clay is her dark and mysterious man and he’s seriously dominating. Nathan has her safety at the top of his and when everything goes wrong, he can’t be left out any longer. I loved the banter, the sex scenes were delightfully dirty, and the bad guys didn’t win!.

I enjoyed this author. And this story.

I really loved this one. I actually liked how we knew right away WHY they were trying to get her to leave instead of halfway through the book and something happens and you find out the truth that they actually fell for her but were trying to protect her. I really enjoyed Clay and Nathan more then Ryan. He was a good guy but to me more annoying then anything. I'm glad she put him in his place at the end. He really needed to stop. I loved the FMC fiestiness and don't care attitude ND I liked her friends too. Took Nathan awhile but glad he finally gave in but I also new he was trying to protect her. His father was bad. Lots of laughter and sadness ups and down and I'm glad that her mom wasn't as bad as we thought and it was just to protect her daughter cause it cod of been so much worse. I really enjoy this author. I think you will too.

I don't typically read high-school romances as I feel too old for them. However, these characters had a small cameo in Veil Of Shadows, so I wanted to check it out.

These characters were great, and the story was enjoyable. Phoenix just transferred to Ridgeview Prep in the States from the UK after her dad died. She comes to live with her estranged mother, her husband, and his son Nathan. Things are not as they seem, and she will soon find that out.

Nathan tries to keep his distance in the name of protecting Phee, Ryan is obsessed with her from first glance, and Clay, well, he's standoffish because he doesn't trust himself with her. If they just let go of their fears, they will see that love conquers all.

Basic

Basic easy read.
Little to no background and character growth. Things just happen because they need to for the author to get to write what she wants. Bothered me that they shut shamed one of the antagonist, but then did exactly what they taunted her with before the end of the book.

The story was fun enough that I finished it and if you want steam there is plenty of it.

Enjoy if you like basic super rich teens acting like adults and able to easily do what they need to to get to the next scene.

I absolutely loved this book, which entailed a strong heroine with a stepbrother and his two best friends.

The story had me absorbed and I read it in a sitting. I would definitely recommend this for someone looking for a reverse harem. Let's just say, there's alot of denial about the stepbrother wanting her too...

Phee for the win

Phoenix or Phee is a wonderful lead and the type of strong empathetic woman we all want to be.

Her trio of men combine to make THE perfect book boyfriend. A strong silent one, a caring jokester and a grumpy, fussy loving one.

Though it takes a hot minute for them to get on the same page, the author gives glimpses of what could be early enough to suck you into the story and relish their coming together.

Quick enjoyable read.

On fire

Decent Standalone, contemporary rh with twists, turns and criminal undercurrents. Our heroine is an enjoyable, liberated young woman, but really? This is set as senior year in high school? I know it's fiction, but these characters are way too self aware and sexually confident to be so young. I appreciate the Australian author, but several phrases and concepts are clearly not US based and it is set in North Carolina. Otherwise an entertaining example of the genre.

I really enjoyed this book!! Watching everyone grow and bond is a special treat. Witnessing Liz come alive is spectacular. Lastly, watching Mason & Dexter get what they deserve is priceless!

4,5 stars.
This story is a surprisingly well-balanced mixture of many elements: teenage school life, kinky sex, and criminal tale.
The main female character is an intelligent girl with lots of spunk and a relaxed attitude in life.
The plot is original, with no cliches at the site.
Fun to read.

Excellent book. The extreme of the step brother’s refusal to admit feelings is a little excessive but other than that a good storyline and a very nice read
