I adore this series.

Is it borderline smut-with-a-plot featuring monster girls? Yes. Is the smut good? Also yes. Is the plot good? Absolutely yes.

If the idea of smut (and/or monster girls) isn't your cup of tea, then this book won't be either. But even if you're just *okay* with the odd graphic sex scene, then you'll likely really enjoy this book as
the writing, characterisations, world building, etc. is really, really good.

Also if you - like me - are kind of weirded out by the idea of a "christmas episode" in a running series...don't worry, this one is actually great. Just trust me.

While it did take me a long time to get through this book (lots of distractions and life in general), I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Most of the book was quite whimsical and outrageous. I really enjoy Annabelle's imaginative way of giving these classic characters, human desires, and emotions.

The chapter where the child passed had me sobbing. I lost my son to a brain tumour when he was 5, on the 10th of December. The only part I struggled with was that that little girl was alone. While that story was completely out of left field and a total shock, I found it therapeutic.

Another great addition, Annabelle.

This book is ridiculous and tons of fun!

I’ve had a blast spending time with these characters across the entire series. Each book a fun adventure story with increasingly imaginative spice and outrageousness. If you like a spicy read a good adventure story then this book/series is for you!

I guess some people find a girl dying of cancer and Christmas elves and human children being eaten (while they are still living) to be lighthearted and playful, but not me. No, I find it revolting and disturbing. It is difficult for me to understand a mind that would actively think about things like this, much less write about it for others to read (and enjoy, apparently, based on average ratings and reviews).

Throughout the series I've noticed the author (sometimes subtilty) taking masculinity/power/skill from men (most notably from the MC and Gryla's husband) and giving it to women. The women grow bigger dicks, are stronger, more skilled/useful, better at sex and satisfy women more vigorously/thoroughly/fully than any man ever could (Lily -> Christmas Present, Naia -> Beth, etc.).

A clitoris is not a 'cock' as it's referred to in the book, even if grows to be 6" long. Reading about this clitoris being used for sexual intercourse, ejaculating and making a cream pie was absurd. The whole series is a convoluted chain that seems contrived to create progressively ridiculous and silly sexual situations that aren't even amusing, much less arousing.

Men mostly seem to be there only to be used/taken advantage of, impregnate women, and, perhaps, cuddle. It is noteworthy that the series consists mostly of women who are bisexual or lesbian.

The undertone of the series seems to be 'anything a man can do, women can do better'. Despite being the Caretaker, for most of the series the MMC is physically weak almost to the point of being helpless and requires constant protection, expertise and support from numerous women. It comes across in many things, one such example is when Christmas is taken away from Santa Claus (Father Christmas, a prime example of the dreaded 'patriarchy' boogeyman perhaps) and given to one of his female elves to manage instead. Yeah, ok.

One of the annoying things about the series is the way the author continually trolls readers about a potential relationship between MC and Beth, even though the way they are written they'd both prefer monsters over humans (he'd screw almost anything that moves and she'd probably prefer something like a centaur or giant, or more likely both at the same time). She's a size queen (to the point of self-harm, she can't help herself, until she's given magic powers so she can withstand as many hard poundings from massive monster cocks in all her holes as her heart desires) and has been pounded by so many huge monster cocks you'd think having sex with Mike would be like tossing a hotdog down a hallway. It seems like she wanted to have sex with him so she could learn tricks in order to better please her main partners. She wouldn't even stay the night after having sex with him for the first time and slinked off afterwards.

The author doesn't seem to understand men very well...heterosexual men don't eagerly/thoroughly/happily eat their cream pies from women after having sex with them. They also don't enjoy having things shoved up their urethra (i.e. inside their dick). I imagine it would be as unpleasant for women as it is for men, and a great way to contract an UTI.

Everything considered, perhaps the series is targeted for a female audience more than it is a male audience. To each, his/her own.

This part is long (or at least felt very long), featuring a small cast, enemies that are plain evil, can't be reasoned with, and super-easily subvert creatures around them to create an army. All of this is a bit too samey after Apocalyse. Christmas magic is a nice touch here but it would be nice to have a different story structure for once from 'Mike and girls are doing their cute thing, bad guy pops up, super scary, suddenly has a big army, Mike's cast gets split up into three small groups scrambling to flee and fight for most of the story, often super-mismatched with their opponents to make it more 'exciting', then Mike has a super-magic boost, gathers the whole cast together and blasts the nemesis with his love'. It's simply too long, and boring because of its over the top epicness, gods and demons, planar magic, if anything is possible, and the story can twist into any direction at any moment it becomes hard to relate to, hard to enjoy, empty. As always the end is wrapped up nicely, and the series has an interesting leveling system revolving around a house that gets bigger (and also the MC and his team get stronger powers all the time), there is still interesting character development, but it's just way too long and should have been edited more to focus on the cool/fun parts.

This ones a CHONKER of a book. The whole set up for what the rules are in The North Pole takes a surprising amount of time and the pace does drag a bit. But let it settle in like a warm blanket and this one really swings for the fences. Both on the big scale with the insane timeline logic of santa's magic, but also on the small scale with Lily and Death especially getting a really devastating scene. And mike continues his track of being a more proactive and thoughtful lead character, but sometimes you just gotta zap a bad guy with sex magic until they spooge their pants.

Mixed Feelings - A Christmas Special

I was really torn with this one. If not for the character and overarching story development, I would have probably rated this lower.

Maybe I'm too much of a Grinch but Christmas specials aren't for me, and a lot of this book really felt like one.

I think the worst part, and I'm entering slight spoiler territory here so turn back now, but the fact that so many characters weren't a part of the story felt like a massive miss. The majority of them were mostly absent and a few barely got a page of mention at all.

Hawthorne's superb writing and romance continue. I am obviously a fan at this point and cannot express my enjoyment of this series enough!
