Puck Me #2

Rate this book
Jace There are two things I don’t do; take life seriously and get into relationships. Being one of the star hockey players on the Sunnyvale Hawk’s Hockey Team has allowed me to party, hook up with any girl on campus I want, and be worshiped by everyone around me. However, my approach to life has finally caught up with me. Coach is now threatening to bench me since I’m on the verge of flunking my classes this semester, so he’s hired me a tutor and given me one month to get my grades up. Fan-freaking-tastic. Only the girl he hired seems to despise me, and as it appears, all men in general. I need to find her weakness and get her to help me.Skye I’ve sworn off all men. Being cheated on sucks and now that I am forced to tutor the university’s most notorious player, I feel like fate is playing some cruel prank on me. Now, I’ve got a cocky hockey player to help get his grades up and a remorseful ex who won’t leave me alone. Things can’t get any worse – but then Jace offers me a deal I can’t refuse. All I want to do is get through the semester, but it looks like I’ll be doing that with a fake boyfriend. Playing tutor and fake girlfriend aren’t as terrible as I thought it would be. Jace is actually kind of – sweet. I just need to get through the semester without losing my mind or falling for Jace. I don’t think I’m cut out for being a Puck Buddy…Enjoy enemies to lovers, fake relationship, and college romance tropes in this book.

A longtime escapist into books, M.A. Lee began writing cozy mysteries and romances when other sources of that gold ran out. The gold nuggets of Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, Andre Norton, Phyllis A. Whitney, and Elizabeth Peters inspired her to write her own nuggets, even if they're only pyrite.

Look for the Into Death series, set after World War I, and the other books in the Hearts in Hazard series.

Favorite Books of all Time:
Mary Stewart's My Brother Michael.
Mary Stewart's This Rough Magic.
Georgette Heyer's Venetia.
Ellis Peters' The Virgin in Ice.
Andre Norton's Year of the Unicorn

Authors that I will recommend beyond the influences and the favorites: Dorothy L. Sayers. Tony Hillerman. Tamara Leigh. Patricia Briggs. Lindsay Buroker. Linnea Sinclair. W.R. Gingell. Agatha Christie. C.J. Cherryh.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. We are back on the Sunnyvale University campus. Skye Turner is Sadie’s cousin. She is starting her first year, besides Sadie and her brother, Lance, she doesn’t know anyone. She is ready to get out there, despite her desires to be alone. An introvert to the core. Skye wants friends. She wants to live. That is the main reason she came there.

Jace is on the Sunnyvale Hawks hockey team. He has been having a little too much fun and is on the verge of flunking several of his classes. It’s not the Jace isn’t smart, he just put classes on the back burner. Having fun and going out had become the priority in his life. He needs a tutor to get him back on track. That tutor is Skye.

They are just friends, but there is something there. They enjoy spending time together. Skye isn’t that shy girl around Jace. Jace isn’t just a hockey player around Skye. They can finally be themselves with each other. Their relationship grew out of friendship. Will the puck bunnies let them be together? Skye has an ex-boyfriend that is trying to wiggle his way back into her life. Lance is adamantly against her dating anyone is sports. Will Lance’s feelings lead to this couple’s demise? They have a lot going against them. Will they let these obstacles keep them from love?

Shy bookworm, Skye, spends most of her time reading, studying, and tutoring. When she makes eye contact with a gorgeous hockey player, she’s shocked at her reaction to him. She’s never felt that way about anyone and she doesn’t even know his name.
Jace is all about hockey, partying, and puck bunnies. Not at all interested in being in a serious relationship, he’s intrigued by the beautiful girl he sees on campus. He knows she’s not the one night stand type but he can’t stop thinking about her.
Both are surprised when Jace shows up for a tutoring session and Skye’s sitting there. The sparks fly instantly but there are obstacles they must face before they can see where their connection leads.
Romantic insta-love novel with characters that are easy to love.

Sorry, but this was so boring

I honestly don't know how I got through this book. It was boring, overly sweet, and cookie cutter, written terribly (sorry), and just way too long for what it was. The FMC has zero self-esteem. It doesn't come across as a quirky, loveable trait it comes across as annoying. It gets so bad that eventually I hated reading her POVs. I felt that this book was more of a YA book than an NA type of book. It feels as though it was written for middle or early high schoolers, but had some s3x scene thrown in there so they could market it to the adult crowd... I'm sorry, but I'd cut those scenes out or fade them to black and rebrand this book for a younger audience. I can't imagine adults actually enjoying reading this book.

There was absolutely no chemistry between the ANY of the characters. None with the MCs, none with the cousin, and frankly, I didn't even feel her and her roommate had good friendship chemistry. The last chapter was thrown in I guess to try and create some drama, but I'm not gonna lie there was a part of me thinking that I would have rated this book much better had the MMC died at the end. At least I would have gotten some sort of surprise ending that would have made me go '...wow!' But alas, it didn't happen, and everything was tied up with a neat, boring little bow.

Want my opinion? Skip this... it's not worth your time

This is book number 2 of the Puck Me series and focuses on Jace and Skye. Skye is a freshman at Sunnyvale who is ready to find her own path in life. She had been making plans for her life that she didn’t truly want but being at Sunnyvale allowed her to finally open up her horizons and go after what she wants. She started tutoring to fill her time and found she really enjoyed it, but she didn’t expect to get paired up to tutor Jace when his social life started to affect his academics and his scholarships. Jace was a player on the Sunnyvale hockey team and had spent his time there living life to the fullest. When he meets Skye, it doesn’t take him long to realize that she is special and the one for him. He has to work a bit harder with Skye because of her past relationship and her now low self-confidence thanks to how that relationship ended. I really enjoyed this story and how there was actual hockey game play throughout the story. I’m new to this author but after reading this story I plan to go back and read the first book of the series and I look forward to the rest of the series. This was a great addition to the series.

After being together a long time Skye was planning a life around her boyfriend, she was going to go to the same college and study law. All that changed when she found he had betrayed her by cheating. That was enough of a wake-up call to re-evaluate her life.

Skye changed her plans completely, going to a different college for a new start. Both her brother Lance, and her cousin Sadie attended Sunnyvale College so what not start afresh there. She had sworn off boys and was aiming to go into teaching. To help with that plan Skye started tutoring at college.

It's while tutoring that Skye meets Jace. He is the typical hockey player, all sculpted, athletic and of course stunning to look at. Skye had seen Jace on her first day at college and he had definitely caught her eye, not that one of the school athletes would be interested in her.

The story is of how Skye and Jace find out all about each other and finding they have more in common than they originally thought. Of course there are challenges in their friendship, with a lot of angst, and a few tests and dramas but will it all work out in the end? Well you have to read to find out! Two great main characters that are very believable.

Tutoring the hockey player

Puck Buddy is the second book in the Puck Me Series about members of the Sunnyvale Hawk's Hockey Team. This entertaining and easy reading story is about Skye Turner and Jace Scott. Jace may not take anything seriously besides hockey but that is all about to change when Skye walks into his life. Skye has been hired by the coach to tutor Jace so he can pull up his grades and pass his classes, or he will be benched. She has sworn off all men and that includes the sexy hockey player, who also is a player in other areas of life. She gives him a really hard time as she is dealing with a pita ex who is trying to worm his way back into her life after his betrayal. Her only option is to get Jace to be her boyfriend and that just puts them on a collision course to those things called feelings..........now what do they do???

Puck Buddy by MA Lee is a sports romance novel that didn't quite hit the mark for me. It has the premise of a good story, but the execution is really lacking. I have read other books by MA Lee and found those much more enjoyable than this particular one, so don't let this review discourage you from reading it and deciding how you feel about it. My biggest issue with the overall love story between Skye and Jace is that I just don't really feel the connection between the two of them. They have an insta-love story that didn't make sense to me. It is also filled with so many errors, contradictions, and plot holes, that I just didn't find it enjoyable. I do love a good sports romance story, so this one won't stop me from reading more from this author in the future.

This is an awesome book and I could not out it down!

The first time Jace and Skye see each other was while Skye was getting settled in her new dorm room while Jace and his teammates are out for a run. Those few seconds they make eye contact the sparks were flying. Skye tutors fellow students and Jace needed a little nudge to buckle down and focus on his studies.

Remember those sparks I mentioned? After meeting and getting to know each other those sparks turned into the equipment of fireworks for a 4th of July celebration! These tow became fast friends and then more… “How is it that every time I’m with you, I get lost in everything you.” ~Jace~

I absolutely loved this book and recommend for you to check it out.

College hockey romance at it's best

Absolutely loved Jace & Skye's story. The author has done 5 star job combining college, hockey & romance in a story that will have you hooked from page 1.He's a star college hockey player who's known for partying & hookups. She's a shy, nerdy student whose just started college. These two may appear opposites but there's no denying the heated attraction that is building between them. Can this hockey player show his tutor Skye that he see's the real her & she's it for him?
Fantastic addition to the series.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Puck Me series by M.A. Lee. Right from the start, the trope of student athlete & tutor had me flipping the pages needing to know how Jace & Skye's story would play out. They are complete opposites, and Skye has really low self-esteem, whereas Jace is super confident. She thinks that they cannot work, and it was fun to read him try to prove her wrong. Their story was definitely not smooth sailing, but it made it all the more special when they finally made it as a couple.
I am loving all the characters that are in this series, and I hope that there will be many books to come

This book had potential to be angsty, sexy, emotional, and...just...more. It fell flat. The h was a weak, whiney nobody who remained that throughout the story. The H was a good character, but he wasn't well fleshed out, like...what the hell does he look like other than he has gray eyes and he's tall? There was no chemistry between the H and h, and the drama was so easily handled, it felt like it didn't even belong in the story. I finished it because I was bored and had nothing else to do.

OMG!!!!! LOVE Jace and Skye.

Skye has had it rough. Cheating boyfriend, over protective parents and brother. So when she decides to go away to school at the same school as her brother and cousin, she didn't expect to meet anyone let alone the hot hockey player.

Jace didn't do relationships. He enjoyed being single until he meet his new tutor Skye. Once he gets to know her, he know she is meant to be his forever.

Can they find their happily ever after or will someone destroy it for them?.

This book was okay, not amazing. I expected it to focus on Jace and Lacey from the first book, but it actually follows Jace, a hockey player, and Skye, Sadie’s cousin. Jace needs a tutor to keep his scholarships, and Skye steps in. They're an odd pair: the jock and the bookworm. The characters felt a bit mixed up at times, with names swapping around. While I enjoyed the concept, the idea of 19- and 21-year-olds finding their soulmates felt unrealistic. Still, I'm curious about book 3!

**ARC** I love this author. I love a good hockey romance and a taboo of the player being a player. I loved the dual POV and hearing what the characters were feeling and I felt it all. I did see myself getting a little frustrated at the female character as she had self esteem issues that she didn’t explore for herself but otherwise it was a great read!

Jace is used to having women throw themselves at him but as soon as he sets eyes on Skye everything changes. This story has some ups and downs before they get their happy ending. Jace and Skye make a great couple and the way he defends her as well as loves her is heartwarming. Definitely worth the read.

Skye is a shy nerdy book worm that loves to read and enjoy life. But her world is turned upside down when she meets the handsome hockey player that is just oozing sex. I don’t give spoilers but trust me this is definitely something you want to add to your TBR especially if you live a good sports romance.

would have been 5 stars however there were so many grammatical mistakes that were so annoying 😭 also the female main character was really annoying because he kept telling her he was obsessed with her and she would reply saying that he couldn’t like her and that she was not like other girls😐
apart from that tho i really enjoyed this and read it in a couple of hours

Alight this one was short and sweet. Jace falls hard for the "tutor girl" lol and man what a sweet ride.
it had some drama with the "cheerleaders" but in the end they have a sweet HEA.
