A mother and daughter are transported to a fantasy realm where they encounter mythical beings—and discover they’re capable of wielding magic.
Tech designer Sloane Reinhart and her ten-year-old daughter, Gwyneth, were living ordinary lives outside of Milan, Italy, when an extraordinary event occurred. The sky turned to swirling hues of purplish red and blue, and a thunderclap shook the land. Then there was a blinding flash and a gale force of wind that separated Sloane and Gwyn from each other—and Earth.
Now they’re on Eona, a world orbited by two moons and populated by elves, orcs, raithes, and other creatures of legend—but no other humans. In this fantastical medieval society, where royals rule and knights protect those in need, Sloane and Gwyn are strange curiosities to those who, separately, found them. While Sloane finds herself fighting alongside the Knights of Haven’s Hope, Gwyn’s merchant friends have accepted her innocent claim of being a princess. But despite these exciting adventures with their newfound communities, all mother and daughter want to do is reunite with each other.
And as Sloane and Gwyn confront dangers on their searching quests, both discover an affinity for magic, a talent just as rare in Eona as the humans who conjure it. When word spreads of a woman who crafts magical items and a “princess” who creates fire out of thin air, the noble factions of Eona recognize a threat to the natural order of things—and an opportunity to use the humans to shift the balance of power across the realm.

On one hand I quite like the premise and the slow introduction to magic. On the other hand I struggle to believe the magic system. It's too... convenient?
Not much else to say really. It's a decent read and maybe the follow-up volumes will build on it while shedding the issues I have with it.
I really like the premise of this book. A rip in space and time bring together people from Earth and different versions of it to a medieval world rife with political and social strife. However, it’s not a world of magic so everyone it’s new to everyone. It’s fascinating to see fish out of water humans mixing with a new world of people who have to deal with them and the introduction of magic. A great setting for pretty awesome conflicts and something pretty unique. The two MCs are a mother and daughter who come to the new world but are separated. We get two main plot lines, several chapters from one character and then the other. They don’t really intertwine, but they’re both fascinating and give us a double look at the changing world. Also serves as a great main conflict, the two are both very competent and strong and will do anything to be reunited. A lot of great humor in the story, as well as touching drama. It’s a brutal world, but filled with complex characters, both good and bad.
How is it that the mom is a completely nut job self-centered emotional see-saw, while her 10 year old daughter is a funny, empathetic badass that takes the world by the balls? It's pretty much 15 hours of a female Rick Grimes in another world freaking out and yelling "COORRRALLLL!!!" everywhere he goes.
It's a shame because otherwise I quite like the approach of the book. It's kind of like a slice of life, grimdark isekai LitRPG/Cultivation, but without any stats/system involved. I'd categorize it as soft-magic in this first book with a foundation to move to hard-magic if the author wanted to (which I don't see happening).
Skip this unless you want a slow roll filled with stupidity and hysteria.
The book is alright but a bit slow to build. I cannot wait to see what the author has in store because this seems to be a first going to a much bigger storyline. Does use more words that are necessary. It seems they’re having a harder time, kneeling down what they want which creates a slower build story. I think as the author develops, it will become much more short I just just seem to be waiting for something to happen, and it never did in the book
It's a bit slow - but that's the author developing a complex world. This is a captivating story and the premise is different. Definitely looking forward to the next book. Only complaint is that the author uses 10 words when half would do - but my bet is that will get better as the author develops, Well done.
It was a little slower than some other Isekai stories but the mother daughter relationship driving the story really pulls you in. It also has a pretty unique intro into magic
Very enjoyable isekai! I’m not a huge fan of books that switch back and forth between characters, but this was manageable. Nice pace with moments of action and moments of calm. Pure action books get exhausting after a while. Give it a try!
Has a few similarities to the wandering inn and several other progression fantasy series one of the best things it is not a Haram fantasy which almost seems to become a plague among progression fantasy series. This book was very refreshing.
What happens when a ton of people are transported to a new world? Lots of disruptions at a global scale. A shot a reinventing the science of a new world
