4.25 Stars - It's actually 4.19, but I rounded up.
This is a collection of four stories, from four different points of view (POV), that tells a history of things that are happening in the land.
There are crossovers, but they are rare. The overall rating of the book was 4.19, so I bumped it up to 4.25 Stars.
I actually really liked the idea of how this book was structured. We are far enough into the series...that this structure would work, while still propelling the story forward.
This is not a normal series, but it is the series we have, and I love it.
Story #1: This story revolves around Glasna. Just finished the first book. I was confused on who was the protagonist...for most of the story, but it didn't ruin it...it just made me more curious. Interesting tale. I wonder if these four stories will interconnect or just be standalones? Hmm?
I rated it 4 Stars
Story #2: This story is through the perspective of Crisa: So far, this is my favourite story. Well told. Loved the druid's character and way about her. Plus, the dwarves are everything you'd want in a story. It's been done, but this was great.
I rated it 5 Stars
Story #3: This third story, centering on Blachstenius was interesting to read, especially since I had just finished The Grimdwarf: Cursed by J.C.M. Berne...moments before picking this story up. There were some interesting similarities that I picked up on, and don't think I would've focused on them, without having just read that story. Really cool.
I rated it a 3.75 Stars.
Story #4: This story revolved around Arthmael. This character is a young and upcoming druid. He's got plans (some secret...at least he thinks they are). He's sent on an adventure/task...and he's brought together with a couple of other characters that get in his way, the other helps him (but in his own way, only for his people) and his faithful dog, Shadow.
I rated this story 4 Stars.
I don't have the next few books, but when I have some spending cash, I will definitely buy the rest of the series.(4
So happy to be back with new and familiar faces within the Protectors of Pretanni series!
In book 2.5 of Protectors of Pretanni, we get four novellas involving unlikely POV’s which brought a whole range of depth to the world and plot. The tension is building with looming threats on the horizon and Mollman’s brisk writing style continues to pack a punch like no other!
I absolutely love the addition of a new race of creatures as well as a certain sculptor and stonemason in the fourth story. I hope to see more similarly imaginative elements throughout the rest of the series.
Overall, I love where the story is going and looking forward to the next instalment!
I love these books. Mollman’s writing is so comfortable and his authorial voice so strong. They’re just really fun books. Full review to come on the channel.
