"Hi, I'm David Grimm. My wife, Kelly, and I have been happily married since March 23, 2002. Together, we have four wonderful kids—though, like all kids, they have their moments! But in all seriousness, they indeed are amazing, and our greatest joy is that each of them loves Jesus.

Our eldest, Tenley, is 15 and a sophomore, while our twins, Asher and Hallie, are 13 and in 8th grade. Our youngest, Sadie, is in 6th grade. Between soccer, volleyball, and gymnastics, our lives are a whirlwind of activity as we shuttle them from one event to the next!

Thanks to a steady supply of chicken protein and our steadfast faith in Jesus, we keep going. We gratefully own the Chick-fil-A franchise on University Ave in West Des Moines, IA, as well as the Chick-fil-A Iowa Food Truck. Since starting in the restaurant business in 2011, we have loved the opportunity to live out our faith daily through the work we do and the people we serve."

I was on one of my dozen trips to Chicago and stopped at a Chick Fil A in Iowa. I saw the owner had a few of his books available and I was intrigued. As I was leaving, I saw him in the lobby cleaning up trash and putting trays away. I was sitting in my car, about to drive away when I had this... Feeling. I turned around and walked inside to grab a copy of this book, from this man - I'm interested to hear what he has to say after seeing a few minutes of his actions.

This book is about becoming truly happy by living a life rich in values, purpose, and character. The author aligns these chapters very well with ideas from very popular nonfiction self-help books, like Atomic Habits. He also aligns these lessons to scriptures in the Bible.

My experience with religion has been a ping pong game throughout my life. I've been going to church again recently, Catholic mass, and I've had trouble relating to the Bible and the way it was being presented. However, the way the author presents these stories are very easy to digest and ponder. I feel like I really needed this book's interpretations to make a lasting impact in a few different ways.

It’s the Journey

An interesting and readable personal development book regarding one’s life pursuits. The author approaches this quest from his religious perspective, but his message is relevant and sustainable within or outside of a religious point of view. He uses both his personal experience and the stories from his faith to make his key points. There is also the bonus of a series of “questions”, by chapter, that allows readers to apply the lessons more personally to their lives. The overriding message is that we should find and pursue our purpose in life- a proposition that works well from my world view. The author makes a strong case for this, and offers ways to implement this, whether you are religious or not.
