Doctor James Thaddeus thinks he’s safe, but Ruby is coming for him. And nothing will stop her this time.

The world knows who they are now; they know what the Subjects of the super-soldier Experiments are capable of. Doctor Thaddeus is attacking Ruby’s hometown, decimating beloved sanctuaries, and killing dozens of innocent people while smearing the names of Ruby and her friends. Ruby has complete control of her fire elemental powers now, and she possesses a rage that burns deeper than ever.

Ruby’s determined to destroy the Lab once and for all, even if that means ripping it apart, brick by blood-soaked brick.

Nikki Haase is an author who writes across genres; mainly dystopian sci-fi, and contemporary new adult fiction. Besides writing, Nikki enjoys reading, dyeing her hair vivid colors, and occasionally long-boarding. When she's not engrossed in a notebook, creating worlds with only the alphabet, she is usually cuddling or playing with her hyperactive dog, Kira, and watching spooky YouTube videos. With an unhealthy love for coffee and tea, she truly does turn caffeine into books.

Nikki Haase has done it again- and even better. This is by far the very best book in the entire series. Nikki pulls all the stops, heartache, and feels in the latest installment of the Experiment X series. I was left speechless. The amount of detail, character growth, and storyline were engaging from the first page. I was privileged enough to be an ARC reader, and despite taking a few days past release to get this review out and finish the book- it was hard to put down. I kept egging my breaks on at work, and any spare time, just to devour one more page.
I implore you to read this series. If you're a fan of Maximum Ride, Hunger Games, Divergent, etc... if you're just a lover of GOOD fiction, with strong characters, which feel as real as your family members and friends (by the end of the series they will be, trust me), look no further.
There's no smut, there's no over-used tropes. There's just an engaging, invigorating story.
Im sobbing, Nikki.
Job well done.
Thank you.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Its a fantastic third book in the series and leaves you hungry for more. I laughed, I cried, and one thing’s for certain, Haase keeps you on the edge of your seat with her beautiful storytelling and high stakes. I recommend this book series to anyone who enjoys things like Hunger Games. Can’t wait for more!!

I had high hopes for the conclusion of this series, but this book disappointed so much. As a positive, I appreciated the LGBTQ+ representation. That being said, a lot of characters are added in this book and there is little development to see the characters grow or have time to get attached. I really wanted to enjoy this book but I just ended up irritated and frustrated.

Spoiler warning and rants below

First a major trigger warning - at the end is a gratuitous school shooting which results in children dying. Yes this is a book and these characters are not real, but given the state of the US this felt wrong. The way it was handled also felt lackadaisical. The cops know who and where they are, yet no one contacted the group. They only went because they saw it on the news.

Technology in this is handled oddly. There are characters who know how to hack and can train others to hack, yet no one pushes for cell phones. Accounts are frozen but nothing is done until the end. Hacking and technology is used for future purposes in connecting with other facilities but hacking wasn't used to deal with their facility or people associated with it.

The lack of cell phones - which can be picked up at a Dollar General for cheap - leads to characters not being able to warn other characters of things which leads to characters dying. They can have all kinds of weapons but no cell phones. Maybe that's the point but it kept hitting me as an unrealistic plot point.

Prosthetic technology also seemed out of step with reality. Injured character had her limb amputated and left the local hospital with a myoelectric prosthetic within a day. Yes these characters heal fast. But this is a small town with it's local hospital. The doctor paid for the prosthetic but they are $20,000 - $100,000. How did he get one that quickly and why does he have that much money to just access that easily?

My most frustrating issue with this book was the lack of intelligence/wisdom with these characters. They are supposedly super soldiers with intense training but they respond throughout the book like a 10 year old playing a video game who just wants chaos and destruction...

They were previously attacked and kidnapped from the house - stay at the house which was filled with poison.
How is the house still filled with poisonous gas yet it's safe once aired out with all the contents and walls having been coated with poison?
They need to stay under the radar - blow up trees (again) and imprison responding cops
They are bored - go to the shooting range in town and show off uncanny skills to locals who should have seen the ongoing news about the group
They are bored - go to the bar to get drunk.
They are covered in wounds and blood - go to the diner for a meal.
Start training people who obviously have little training/experience then decide to scrap that plan and leave in 12 hours without discussing it with everyone.
Attack the facility with minimal supplies/equipment then ignore the fact that you could take body armor from the guards and their equipment/supplies.

Overall the poor decision making just ends up with countless deaths that seem rather pointless.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

'Revolt' brings Nikki Haase's series to a breathtaking conclusion, offering a satisfying resolution to the epic saga of Ruby and her fight against Doctor James Thaddeus. This final book, which I rate at 4 stars, stands out as the best-written installment, masterfully tying up the series' complex plotlines and character arcs.

Ruby's character reaches its zenith in 'Revolt', fully embracing her powers and the depth of her rage against the injustices of the Lab. Haase skillfully navigates Ruby's final push against her adversaries, maintaining a pace that is both relentless and rich in narrative depth. The culmination of Ruby's journey is both powerful and poignant, highlighting her growth from a reluctant participant to a formidable force.

The series concludes with a careful balance of action, emotion, and resolution, ensuring that readers are left satisfied yet reflective on the journey they've undertaken alongside the characters. Haase's handling of the series' darker themes, including graphic violence, is done with a sense of purpose, contributing to the story's intensity without overshadowing its heart.

'Revolt' is not just a story of rebellion; it's a tale of finding strength in adversity and the power of unity in the face of corruption. It serves as a fitting end to a series that has consistently delivered action, depth, and a vividly imagined world.

Through all three books, Nikki Haase takes readers on a journey that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. 'Revolt', with its adept storytelling and character resolution, is a commendable finale to a series that has proven to be both engaging and insightful.

Hoping for more

As I finished the story I was hoping there was more. It felt like so much and not enough happens in the story. What I thought would have been a super action packed book (there’s a lot of action still no worries there) it felt like step back. There was a lot down time which does make sense for the people who were experimented on. But at the same time the war was still going on. Why would they stop? But anyway, once things do happen it is entertaining! There was shocking a lot of tragedy and violence that did happen. But I was surprised when things slowed down after some high action during what they called a war. Though I enjoyed the series as whole just this book wasn’t my favorite.

I wanted so bad to enjoy this book as much as I did the first two but it felt like a step backwards to me. The decisions of the team don’t seem to be that of the super soldiers they are supposed to be. With the influx of new characters I expected a longer book to handle the character development and the plot. I wanted more precision and battle ready and just more things resolved. The action was as good and the storyline still had a lot of fun twists and details, but it lacked that emotional punch for me. Overall I still enjoyed it but felt unfulfilled at the end. Also a trigger warning for a school shooting would’ve been nice for anyone sensitive to that topic.

In this dystopian sci-fi, it’s like X-Men meets Maze Runner with some Divergent thrown in for fun. The Government is experimenting on human subjects until they have had enough of the punishments and tests.
In this last installment the team fights to escape again and kill Dr. Thaddeus once and for all so they can leave free. How much can they keep losing before they burn the whole world down.
Don’t miss out, this is such a phenomenal series!

Following the appalling torture of Karen Turner and the escape of her found family in book 2, the opening of 3 understandably loses a little momentum in the aftermath as wounds are licked and plans made.

However once we move towards the long awaited and inevitable showdown with the programme creator, James Thaddeus, the pace picks up again. The battle will be brutal and just who will survive?

Really enjoyed this book and the trilogy as a whole. I thought this was a great ending to the series. Very action packed, but also heart-wrenching (like I teared up so many times). Also, Nikki's descriptions are so detailed, I love it!
