Sarah Boon’s Young, Autistic and ADHD offers an insightful and compassionate look into the experiences of multiply neurodivergent young adults navigating the complexities of adulthood.

What makes this book particularly impactful is its relatability. Boon includes interviews with a range of individuals who are auDHD, each offering a unique perspective on the challenges and joys of being neurodivergent. These personal stories highlight the variety of experiences within the community, providing readers with moments of recognition and understanding.

The information is presented in a digestible and accessible manner. Boon balances lived experiences with practical advice, making complex concepts easy to grasp. Whether discussing employment, relationships, mental health, or self-advocacy, the book offers clear, thoughtful guidance without feeling overwhelming.

Overall, Young, Autistic and ADHD is a validating and empowering resource. It’s a must-read for anyone navigating the intersection of autism and ADHD, offering reassurance that they’re not alone in their experiences.

This is a fantastic guide for any neurodivergent person from teen and beyond as well as anyone wanting to understand and help a neurodivergent family member, friend or partner.

I am in awe of the many neurodivergent authors telling their honest stories in order to support others. It gives hope that real change and understanding is coming.

I was really hoping it would have some more in depth advice on handling workplaces etc with ADHD but it's pretty much aimed at being in your late teens/twenties and starting in the workforce and many other things in adulthood. Still, I wish I'd had this book then it would have made so much of a difference!

Perhaps more useful for sixth formers as opposed to those in their mid twenties.

I felt the whole book was very descriptive and didn’t really go into loads of depth. But on the flip side there were a few insights around medication and self-acceptance that were useful and I also appreciate perhaps I am slightly too old for this audience and perhaps this is geared towards someone with very little knowledge of neurodivergence.

I didn’t find any of the strategies particularly new or that helpful or in depth, especially when it came to work place adjustments. But perhaps someone else will who is at the beginning of their journey.

I also think the formatting for the strategies could have been better to have bullet points for anything actionable. I would have perhaps liked to have heard more from the interviewees more than just a few quotes
for each section.
