Heirs of Mistvale #1

Cam's Treasure

Rate this book
Cam and Micah have been waiting for their mates for years, but they didn't expect them to crash into their lives. Literally.

Cam
After roaming the world looking for our two mates, Micah and I returned home to Mistvale because we missed our family and clan. Of course, if we'd remembered Mistvale was Fate-blessed, we might have saved ourselves all that trouble.

Micah
Cam was excited to find our other mates, but I wasn't ready. Fighting my insecurities wasn't easy, but I tried to remind myself that Fate would never bond us with someone who wasn't good for us, who didn't accept us completely.

Ember
Whenever I imagined meeting my mate, I didn't think I would do it by literally crashing into their backyard. I also didn't expect to have not one but three amazing mates.

Kai
As if getting my coat stolen wasn't bad enough, I almost drowned before I was rescued by three good-looking men who claimed to be my mates. Without my magic, I couldn't tell if they were lying, but when they offered to help me get my coat back, I couldn't say no.

Cam's Treasure is a 100k words MMMM paranormal romance featuring a mischievous dragon who protects his mates, a shy telepath who gets bossy in the bedroom, a big, sweet phoenix who loves taking care of his mates, and a selkie looking for his stolen coat who finds true love instead.

Cam's Treasure is the first book in the Heirs of Mistvale series and a part of Stella Rainbow's Mistvale town collection. While it can be read as a standalone, the Heirs of Mistvale series tells the stories of characters who were kids in the previous Mistvale books, and is set ten years after the events of The Reclusive Dryad. You can find a chronological reading order of all of Stella Rainbow's books on her website.

I enjoyed writing Cam, Micah, and their mates' story so much. Cam's Treasure is the longest book I've ever written (There's Fate's Gambit, but it was originally split into three novellas that I wrote separately) and it was quite a journey.

I'm so excited to share their story with everyone!

Back to Mistvale for all the sweetness

I've know Cam and Micah ever since they were kids, and I've been looking forward to their story. I must say I was very happy with the length of this book because it was able to give us insight into each individual main character. No one was left behind. Really though Cam and Micah should have know better, especially Cam. He's helped so many couples in Mistvale, I can't believe he forgot one of the magic of his hometown. Though their time away was very helpful with their relationship. Then there's Kai and Ember. I'm so happy with the kind of shifter they are, we need more phoenix and selkie shifter romance. Everyone took the time to know each other and it was just a joy to see their relationship flourish. I absolutely love this story and I can't wait to return for the next addition to the Heirs of Mistvale series.

4.25/5 This was a fun way to revisit Mistvale years after our first encounter with Jai and Raphael. It’s been a couple years since I first read the early Mistvale books, but I thought this book held up well with it still making sense if you didn’t know everyone (though there are a lot of names), but also giving you a fun glimpse into previous couples’ futures if you have read all the other books.

My biggest concern in a poly book is always whether the relationship feels equal, or if someone seems left out/added on. I thought that was navigated very well here. Even with the long-established relationship between Cam and Micah, the addition of Ember and Kai really just adds more. The length of the book gives lots of time for each character POV and for the characters to get to know one another and figure out how the relationship can work.

I liked how they each had strengths and worries and focusses. It was fun to see each of them figure out where they best fit in. I enjoyed the pull from folklore with lots of fun Stella twists and details. Jodi and Saaya were both fun (and I loved how they bonded!) The big, accepting Mistvale clan always makes me happy.

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

Also Bèta read

Cam's Treasure is the first book in the Heirs of Mistvale series by Stella Rainbow. I'm so happy the Mistvale saga continues. We're years later and the oldest kids are getting their HEA! This is the story of Cam and Micah finding their third and fourth mate. If you follow the series you know they knew they were somewhere out there since they were teens. Their mate Ember makes a firey introduction and later their fourth mate Kai comes along. I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels, exciting, fun and very well written. Can't wait to find out who's getting their HEA next!

I've been excited to read Cam and Micah's story ever since they first appeared in the Mistvale series. I didn't expect for their story to be an MMMM romance but it somehow fit for them. Kai, Micah, Cam, and Ember all balance each other out and have great chemistry with each other. They also each form strong connections with each other, individually and altogether.

What I loved the most about this story is how these men took time to get to know each other and form strong bonds with one another before they got physically intimate with each other. They got to know one another as individuals and how compatible they are all together, I thought their whole relationship was written very well and in a believable way.

I like that the Mistvale clan made several appearances throughout this story, it was nice to revisit past characters from previous books. What I found unique is the different variety of paranormal species within this series, but also within this particular story. Cam's a dragon, Micah's a telepath, Ember's a Phoenix, and Kai is a selkie. It was so cool learning about each of them and seeing the creativity Stella had when writing about each of them.

Overall a great story.

Cute teenagers Cam and Micah were all over the previous Mistvale books, but now they're all grown up. They've known they were mates for almost ever, well before they were old enough to date properly, but now they are together and looking for the two additional mates that are fated to be with them.

The first half of the book is about the two of them and their adult relationship. They've traveled all over the world, looking for their mates, but finally realize that they should look closer to home. The second half is about the two men literally crashing into their lives, and how they create their new, complete family together.

There were a few inconsistencies and record scratches (who the hell keeps a meal warm in the microwave? Twice?) but overall I really liked it. Sadly, the next book won't be out until November.

Cam and Micah have spent years searching for their destined mates, only to have them crash—literally—into their lives upon returning to Mistvale, a town blessed by Fate. Cam is thrilled, while Micah battles insecurities, trusting that Fate wouldn’t bond them with anyone who couldn’t love them fully. Ember never imagined meeting his mates by crash-landing in their backyard, let alone discovering he’s part of a fated foursome. Kai, stripped of his magic and sceptical of their claims, is rescued from near-drowning and reluctantly accepts their help to retrieve his stolen coat. As trust grows and bonds deepen, the four must navigate magic, vulnerability, and the unexpected beauty of finding home in each other.

I really enjoyed this story which was a whirlwind of destiny, healing, and found family.I loved the way that the four of them managed to provide exactly what was needed for the others. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MMMM story with mature content.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and it has all the sweetness that I’ve come to expect from one of Stella Rainbow’s stories. I thought it was a good start to the Heirs of Mistvale Series. This book is connected to Stella’s Mistvale universe books while it can be read as a standalone, the Heirs of Mistvale Series tells the stories of characters who were kids in the previous Mistvale books. This is fated mates story between Cam (dragon), Micah (telepath), Ember (phoenix) & Kai (selkie). I thought that they were great together, no matter what combination and their chemistry was completely off the charts.

I really liked that they actually spent time getting to know each other before they formed their bond. Cam and Micah have been mated for years and have a really strong relationship but it’s that much stronger after finding Ember and Kai. I don’t blame Ember and Kai for being overwhelmed when being introduced to the whole of the Mistvale Clan but they’ve finally found the family that they’ve always deserved, as they’ve been on their own for so long. I’m looking forward to reading Finn’s book next, as well as more book by Stella in the future. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

******I received an early copy of this book because I’m a member of Stella’s Patreon. I happily reviewed this book and I would do so even if I purchased it. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

A New Favorite!

I love reading Stella's books. They are always well written and there is depth to the characters, which you don't always find these days. That said, Cam's Treasure is now one of my favorites. It features two characters that we've known throughout the Mistvale universe and their search for their other mates. They are an established couple with all of the anxiety and excitement right there for you to see during their search. When they do find their mates, they have their own challenges, but they are all a perfect fit. Fate doesn't make mistakes.

Pick up your copy today, you won't regret reading this journey!

Cam's Treasure ♥️

This is a beautiful story. The diverse magical creatures and powers that they all have is so cool! It's funny how they find what they're looking for as soon as they stop looking. Life seems to always work out that way.
Micah and Cam are so adorable together and so sweet together with Ember and Kai. I love them.
I love how their families are all found families and yet they are completely accepting and refer to their family members in a way that you forget they're not biologically related.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this ebook and I'm going to purchase it so I can add it to my hoard.

Loved it

I patiently waited for Cam’s book to come and it was definitely worth the wait!

Can and Micah are great characters and after reading about them through the other books in this series it was great lovely getting tink so them more. I loved Ember’s introduction to the book he is such a sweet loveable character. Then Kai with her distrust and sass but secret softie side.

This was just an overall perfect read, getting to see them all find each other. Can’t wait for more books by Stella! X

Great addition

A lovely start to a Mistvale spinoff. We all knew they were waiting for the other 2 mates and coming home let them discover them. Cam and Micah were absolute, but who knew they had issues. Ember and Kai were welcome and they helped to bring everyone together and solve Micah's fears. I love all the mystical creatures. I mean a phoenix we don't see much of those. You get to see characters from previous books whom I love. This is a must start at the beginning of series to be familiar with everyone but so worth it.

Cam all grown up

Cam' story – finally! Cam and Micah are all grown up and looking for their 3rd and 4th mates.

I enjoyed this and it was great to see these characters grown up and the rest of Mistvale some years on.

I would have liked to see more input from Mistvale's other polycule and more reflection on how polygamy works for them. E.g. they suggest no solo dating, and no one challenges that, even though they know they will have to be without 1 of their polycule for 6 months.

My reviews are my own. If you liked this book, I’m glad you enjoyed it. If not, I respect your opinion.  This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous.

In the first book, Cam was sweet, timid, and mature for his age. Perhaps when they healed him, they altered his personality, as he becomes annoying and borderline disrespectful in the subsequent books, despite the author's intention to portray him as mischievous. I disliked the character once it changed, and therefore, I knew I wouldn't like this book.

On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

Cam, Micah, Ember, and Kai's book is so great. I really love it; it's one of my new favorites. It's well written, and the story is amazing. I love how well you get to understand all the characters and a lot of what shaped them into the people they are. You get to see characters from some of the previous books, but it can be read as a stand alone without losing any of the story. I can not recommend this book enough, you should read it.

A wonderful continuation of the Mistvale series. Slight time jump from the OG series. My only complaints are that the first quarter of the book is a rehash and reiteration of things we already know. The book really didn’t get me fully engaged until Ember entered the picture. I also felt Kai was shortchanged is the story. We got practically zero backstory other than the very recent past. Also, Osric needed a better comeuppance. Hopefully that will co,e in a later book.

This was an amazing book!! I loved how we were able to see each individual person in this book and not one character was pushed to the side! I'm so happy Micah and Cam had they happily ever after. It was a longer book than normal, but I felt like it was the perfect length.

It felt a lot more like Kai and Micah was the focus while Cam and Ember held the foundation. Still liked it though. I should go read the other series to really understand this series, but I’m a rebel 😈

Cam and Micah were adorable but they weren’t complete without their other mates. Ember was a sweet gentle giant whereas, Kai was an absolute sweetheart. These guys were absolutely beautiful together. I loved how they didn’t rush anything, taking the time to get to know each other.

Brilliant book and I really enjoyed it.

Welcome back to Mistvale in this new series from Stella!

This is an MMMM poly fated mates romance and it's more then you would expect.
We get a renewed intro to the past characters in Mistvale, plus we get to see how they've changed over the years. I love cameos so this was thrilling to me.

I adore the MMMM dynamics that Stella created honestly. It made me hurt, but I loved Micah's insecurity through the book. While he knows he has more than one mate, his insecurity over being loved is endearing. I love his personality and how much it changes up during spicy time ;).

I adore Cam for being the loveable golden retriever dragon he is. He is out Trans MC in this story and it had it's sad bits but also loving bits when you hear about how much his family loves him.

Ember is our sweet cuddly phoenix with such a calming atmosphere that it really helps the mates feel loved, calm and supported. His twist in the book was a difficult one to determine for the ending. But know his other 3 mates, they would wait a lifetime for him to be reborn. He is sweet as pie and gives the quad mates a lot of knowledge with his age.

Our last mate is Kai, our sad selkie with a missing coat. When I say the mates meet up at just the right time... they genuinely do. The trio stop their fourth mate from drowning after his coat is stolen. While Kai is shy and reserved at first, it doesn't take long for the trio to help warm him up and comfort him.

This brings in the newest threat to Mistvale... which I'll make you read about.

Overall, I normally don't ready poly romances on my own. But I knew hands down I needed to read this one. I'm always a Stella Rainbow fan with her low angsty and strong & vulnerable characters. I was very pleased and happy with how this story turned out and how the mates compliment each other's qualities and fears. Nothing seems forced between the 4 of them and it makes you as the read feel safe and warm as well.

'Cam's Treasure' (Heirs of Mistvale) written by Stella Rainbow, (Audible) narrated by Zachary Zaba

Hmm...not sure why but I just felt this book was missing something. I mean, it was interesting and had some fun parts but honestly I kept getting a bit bored with the storyline. Maybe it was the gap of time between the last books I read and this new continuation of the tale...maybe it was that I missed the years of Cam and Micah growing up?

I did like the ways in which this new MMMM foursome of Cam (dragon shifter), Micah (telepath), Ember (phoenix shifter) and Kai (selkie) all took their time to get to know one another before just jumping each other's bones, although there was a lot of that once they were comfortable with each other.

Then there was the adventure of them going to retrieve Kai's selkie-skin, which had been stolen from him by a tricky and unscrupulous mage, and that interesting development of Cam's new dragon powers, which was pretty cool.

Slightly annoying were the obvious glitches in the Audible recording, like phrases being repeated twice in a row.

A pet peeve of mine is the lack of good proofreading and competence in editing in letting obvious mistakes like these slide by, either in audio or book format, evidently passing everyone's due diligence (lacking here, obvs) and being released as sales-worthy into the general public.
Authors: have some respect for your customers and don't publish shoddy work!

(I have no idea about mistakes in Kindle as I don't have one, although I do notice people complaining about mistakes in those too, come to think of it)

Anyway, while this was an interesting book and I liked some parts of it, all too often I found my interest waning in the repetitiveness of a lot of this storyline and actually dozing off out of boredom.

Over the past couple years I have mostly enjoyed this whole series, with some books capturing my interest more than others, which is to be expected. For some reason this particular book failed to engage my whole interest and kinda turned into a snooze-fest for me.

(sorry Stella)

To sum up: good series, but this book is lacking in...something...not sure exactly what? More details about their lives, both before they all found each other, and afterwards. I mean, even though we know quite a lot about Cam & Micah when they were much younger, we know very little about Ember's nor Kai's previous lives, their life situations, other than a few brief mentions of just before their captures.

Oh, btw, I really like the cover on this book!

(Bottom line: this whole series is captivating and I appreciate the author's creativity and imagination, plus I like this series and its many offshoots.

Unfortunately, this book in the series just didn't fly, not for me anyway, and I'm disappointed because I waited a long time for this to appear in a format I could access; no to Kindle! )
