It is England in the lusty Regency Era, and for most, private Thief-Takers are the law. But Lord Wingrave is a very special thief-taker. Trusted by the aristocracy, and feared by the underworld, he can demand a most special fee for each case – the unrestricted and sadistic access to a woman of quality.
But when the seductive female secretary of a powerful Lord lures him into taking on a most unusual case, he is immediately drawn into a storm of sex, sadism, treachery and violence. With only his deadly cross-dressing female partner and lover at his side, Wingrave must deal with thieves, blackmailers, assassins, and treason, all the while dallying with every attractive woman he can lay his hands upon.
Real, hardcore S&M erotica in the vein of books like Sadopaideia, A Man and A Maid, the novels of F.E.Campbell, and even the outright porn of the "Bizarre Library" series seems to have entirely died in today's market.
What we have is either BDSM "lifestyle" and Ds stories or "Erotica", basically bodice rippers with more sexual detail.
After going blind searching the bookstores and Internet for anything to suite my taste, I was driven to write my own. Stories with real, well researched plots and characters, but enough S&M action to work as stroke fiction if that's what the reader wants (needs?).
I'm a successful professional, so I know what the "real world" is like. I'm widely traveled and multilingual. I do nude photography and CGI art, so I know what naked women actually look like, and I have wielded a whip and used it on (willing) women from all over the world.
If you too are looking for something harder than just sexed up romance, take a look at my books. Note that NONE of my books fall under the category of "Erotic Romance".
And if you are looking for some interesting SF/Horror have a look at the book "Vampire-Tech" which is by me too.
Regency England. Romance, candle light, sweeping gowns, elegant balls, carriage rides across the beautiful English countryside. That's what most people think of when the period is mentioned. But it was also a time of great lawlessness and licentiousness. There was no organised police force in London, although the Bow Street Runners had been formed. They did not patrol the streets and only enforced warrants issued by the court.
Most people of means enforced their own law, often by hiring Thief Takers, the equivalent of modern day private eyes or private security forces. The trouble was, most of the Thief Takers were ruffians and almost no better than criminals themselves, since no man from the upper classes would take on such a disreputable task. Almost no man.
Viscount Lewis Wingrave is a Thief Taker. Because he is a gentleman, his services are highly desired by members of High Society, of the Ton. But he is also wealthy and no real gentleman works for money, unless it is in the military. However, Lewis has a rather singular vice. He enjoys punishing attractive women. Not just any women, but those of the same class as he. To go around debauching decent women would make him a cad. But if a woman were to voluntarily offer herself, well then it might be proper for him to perform a favour in return.
Under King George IV, England entered a brief period of glorious decadence. Women wore thin muslin gowns with nothing underneath. Prostitutes even dampened their gowns to make them even less concealing. Behind closed doors, all manner of sexual entertainments flourished.
But even the upper classes could suffer financial embarrassment. Men had the choice of suffering the disgrace of working, or of killing themselves. But young nubile women had a further option. Open prostitution was out of the question, since that would bring about the same disgrace they fought to avoid. But if some kind of discreet and lucrative arrangement could be worked out, some women might be willing to do almost anything.
Where there are secrets, money, and sex, there will also be crime - and Viscount Wingrave, Thief Taker extraordinaire, is offered the kind of payment he cannot refuse, in order to investigate a most singular crime, one which soon leads to even darker deeds. Tempted by the offer of access to an almost unlimited selection of fine and willing ladies, Lewis and his most unusual partner find themselves struggling to solve a deadly mystery of shocking proportions.
Luxury, gentility, sudden death, and extremely sadistic sex. This is the world of The Taker.
I am going to try to channel my inner teen for this review because I think the author would appreciate it ;)
