Lygia Fagundes Telles

Her first book of short stories, Praia Viva (Living Beach), was published in 1944. In 1949 got the Afonso Arinos award for her short stories book O Cacto Vermelho (Red Cactus). Among her most successful books are Ciranda de Pedra (The Marble Dance) (1954), Verão no Aquário (1963), Antes do Baile Verde (1970), Seminário dos Ratos (1977) and As Horas Nuas, (1989). The book Antes do Baile Verde won the Best Foreign Women Writers Grand Prix in Cannes (France) in 1969.
Her most famous novel is As Meninas (The Girl in the Photograph), which tells the story of three young women in the early 1970s, a hard time in the political history of Brazil due to the repression by the military dictatorship. In 2005 she won the Camões Prize, the greatest literary award in the Portuguese language.[1]
She is one of the three female members of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

Gostei muito desse conto, mas gostei ainda mais dessa série "Outras Palavras" da Editora Atual. Nessa série, um conto clássico é reescrito por outros escritores, que recontam a mesma história, a partir do ponto que mais os motivou, proporcionando um diálogo entre textos. É uma experiência incrível ler o conto original e logo em seguida explorar diferentes possibilidades. Em um temos a mudança do ponto de vista, em outro temos apenas o simbolismo das cerejas, etc. Achei muito interessante essa proposta e amei fazer essa leitura. Esse conto da Lygia é muito bom. Atualmente você pode encontrar esse conto em "Um coração ardente".

"The cherries" is a short story by the great brazilian writer Lygia Fagundes Telles. In this book, published by Atual, we have a proposal called "Other words" and I confess that I really like this kind of proposal. I've read other books with this premise including stories by Edgar Allan Poe and Machado de Assis. Different authors have the opportunity to be inspired by the stories of the great masters of literature and write their own versions.
Specifically in this book, the proposal was to bring 4 authors who used Lygia's short story "The cherries" as inspiration and presented their own version or extension of the story from another angle. Some changed the narrative focus, the narrator, the style, expanded the plot, transformed it into a memory, or gave voice to characters that in Lygia's story were not very present.
The interesting thing about this proposal is the look that will be brought by other writers about this story. The guest writers were: Duílio Gomes (The Strawberries), Fanny Abramovich (In Paris, in the spring), Márcia Leite (Before dinner) and Ignácio de Loyola Brandão (Cherries in the dark).
Lygia portrays in her tale an environment in the countryside, a farm, where the owner of the house "Dinda", lives with a maid and a girl who will be our narrator, we don't know her name. Dinda will receive a visit from a nephew, Marcelo, who is a slightly older than the girl. But it is another visit that will catch the eye of our narrator "Aunt Olívia" who wears a "Cherry" on her cleavage. This aunt provides an event that will mess with our narrator's head.
The protagonist narrator starts the narrative questioning her memory that goes back to a distant time, in her past on the farm. The narrator is already mature and tries to understand the facts that occurred at that time and a way of understanding those feelings that marked her passage from childhood to adulthood. This was the penultimate book I read for the "author of the year" reading project in 2021, even with the "Lygia" project closed, I still intend to read and reread the work of the Lady of Brazilian Literature.

Achei o conto interessante. Sobre as versões, as duas primeiras, seguindo a ordem do livro, achei em partes. A força das duas primeiras está apenas na inversão de perspectivas, nesse sentido são fanfics divertidas. A terceira me perdeu completamente. A quarta conta uma versão completamente alternativa da história, e nisso tem o seu charme. Achei particularmente engraçado que a primeira versão alternativa do conto parece um pouco roteiro de pornochanchada (não é exatamente uma crítica mas é engraçado o contraste com o tom original).
Sobre o conto original, não é lá uma história de grande interesse, mas achei que a autora trabalha de forma interessante esse tema da passagem para a vida adulta, colocada dentro do contexto rural de "classe média" do Brasil, daquela família branca clássica do interior. Com todos os seus resquícios de escravidão e mentalidade medieval.
Sobre o conto original, não é lá uma história de grande interesse, mas achei que a autora trabalha de forma interessante esse tema da passagem para a vida adulta, colocada dentro do contexto rural de "classe média" do Brasil, daquela família branca clássica do interior. Este foi o meu primeiro livro de Lygia Fagundes Telles.
Tentei apreciar o conto As Cerejas, mas não consegui. Achei os diálogos fracos e sem vida, a história em si não me causou nenhuma sensação particular ou reflexão.
Tentatei outra vez, provavelmente com o seu livro mais famoso "As Meninas".

Livro OK, não tenho costume de ler contos, não é muito minha praia, mas fiquei interessada no conto da Lygia Fagundes Telles, o livro é basicamente contos inspirado no conto dela, o que mais gostei foi Antes do Jantar. E é isso.

Gosto de livros que evoquem sensações agradáveis no leitor. As Cerejas fizeram isso comigo em muitas de suas páginas. Só não dou cinco estrelas porque fiquei sem saber que fim levaram os personagens.

há o conto original da Lygia que dá nome ao livro e mais três "releituras" derivadas dele. Gostei da do Duilio Leite, achei as outras duas ó razoáveis, embora entenda que seja árduo competir com a dama da literatura brasileira...
