Overall I ddin't like this trilogy. I actually liked Accidently on Purpose. I knew that Emmy and Kyle wasn't going to make it but I was still rooting for them. I didn't like Emmy and Luke together at the end. It was blatant that she loved Kyle.
I hated Worthy of Redemption. This book would have been better if it focused on Emmy and Kyle and in turn fixing their relationship. Instead they pushed Emmy, the love of his life, to the side and paired him with Lily. I never warmed up to Lily and didn't want her with Kyle. She kept excusing Kyle when she shouldn't have. I would have liked it better if she was like yes Kyle did it, yes it's his fault and I'm uncomfortable with what he did but I can't help loving him anyway. No, at every turn it was it's not your fault Kyle it was the drugs. I felt that his addiction seemed to come from nowhere and was thrown in to help cause the incident that finished Kyle and Emmy. Again, I could have taken it better if there had been some hints. And why did Lily like Kyle before she knew him? Everyone said he was an asshole so what was it about him that she liked?
Worth the Fight was boring and unnecessary. I barely read it. I Emmy and Luke's story finished in Accidently on Purpose. The author should have ended Accidently on Purpose with the letter if she wanted a third book.
So stinkin worth it! This is the real deal!! There are some flaws, but the dialogue, the scenes, make up for it ten fold! So worth the money!! I could not put my kindle down! My house is destroyed, my husband is living off cereal....yep, worth it!! Enjoy!! Just stock up on milk!!
Not sure where all the 4-5 star reviews are coming from, but IMO this book was a hot mess and not in a good way.
It started out really good, well written and I thought I'd found a gem. But at about 7%(in the trilogy) the wheels started to fall off!
The heroine becomes a cheating (insert love triangle here), lying (has a BF but still screws the hero on the side while he screws his GF), doormat (oh you broke my wrist, but you make it up to me by buying me a $70k bracelet). The hero becomes and abusive asshole with absolutely nothing redeeming about him. He has some demons that are not reveled until the very of this book. However, what he does is still inexcusable.
It was almost as if this author sat down to write this book with a direction in mind for the story, and then she gets all these great story lines running thru her head. Instead of stopping and writing them down and plotting out the direction of this book, she just starts throwing it into this story and hopes for the best. And what we get is a shit show that doesn't flow, a heroine who make incredibly stupid decisions and a hero that really isn't much of a hero at all. Her BF should have been the hero in this book. But he really plays a minor roll until something happens and he is forced back into the story...and it is rather cliche'.
The sex scenes are all "fade to black" (boring), so honestly there is no real connection between the characters. Emmy-the heroine has a terrible relationship with her mother, and after a while I found it rather tiresome.
I'm not sure what made me finish this book...but since I bought the trilogy I am moving on to the second book.
1/10/15
Review for book two . 4 stars
This book was so much better than I expected it to be considering the shit show the first book was.
I think the author actually sat down plotted this one out and didn't throw a bunch of unnecessary stuff in to make it more interesting. Emmy and Luke make an appearance but this is Kyle and Lily's book. The book surrounds Kylle's redemption. I'm not sure that after knowing what he'd done to Emmy that I could be with him, but in make believe a world it worked. I found him worthy of the redemption he finds.
The sex scenes in this book are much much better. Well written and rather hot in most cases. I actually felt a connection between Lily and Kyle.
Lily is 20 times the heroine that Emmy is. She calls Kyle on his shit and she has a backbone.
I even though I really did like this book the parts that contained Emmy pissed me off I don't like her and therefore will not be reading the third book in this trilogy.
I have a NEW book hangover and this one not only leaves me book drunk but it left me feeling like I have book flu! Yes body aches, chills and even the shakes. This serious was EVERYTHING and MORE! You read some books and love them but only a few stick with you. The Accidentally On Purpose Trilogy will STICK WITH ME FOREVER! FOREVER EVER!! I can not believe how much I LOVE THIS SERIES. It's hard to really put it all into words but just buy these books. My only constructive piece of criticism would be that editing and the covers. I found a few misspelled words and paragraphs that repeated themselves. The covers are okay but they do not give the books justice. With the right covers I know more people would snatch these books up. Would I re read this book? Hell yea! As I write this review I feel like reading it all over again. Would I recommend this series? Hell Yea especially to anyone who loves a good story line with lots of twist, turns and angst. This is a series for people who like to read books about realistic characters that experience real life issues.
SMIBookClub received an ARC of Accidentally on Purpose Trilogy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The best way to read any book is to buy the series because this book will have you reaching for the second and then the third. Each book was intense and addictive. A dark book about abuse and healing and forgiveness.
Accidentally on Purpose by L.D Davies has got to be one of the best love triangle books out there that I have read. I fell hard for Emmy, Kyle and Luke as I read their stories of how they fell in love, and the struggles they each went through to hold onto that love. This book just drew out so many emotions from me that I ached for the characters and cried alongside them all the way through. Emmy was such a strong, confident and sassy character who by circumstances fell in love with two different guys Kyle and Luke. Emmy’s relationship with Kyle her boss stabbed at my heart, the love they shared was so deep, and their scenes together were funny, sexy, and heart rendering, but Kyle’s restraints held him back every time in sealing their future together as a couple. Driven by the need to resolve things his own way with the responsibilities held over him by his family and Jessyca. Kyle kept pulling Emmy back in, unwilling to give her up until it took its toll on Emmy to realise painfully they had no future together and started to date Luke Kessler. Luke was such an amazing guy, he was funny, sexy, hot, seductive, romantic, possessive and so in love with Emmy that he had no qualms of where he saw their relationship heading, until Emmy breaks his heart when he could no longer stay in denial of the rumours floating around, giving up the only woman he ever truly loved. I loved Emmy with Kyle but I also loved her with Luke, it was so painful and heart breaking to read this trilogy because I wanted to see Kyle redeem himself for Emmy. Underneath his exterior he was suffering and Emmy gave him peace and showed him the definition of love, whilst he ultimately does the unthinkable and breaks her. Emmy’s last words to Kyle had tears rolling down my face “Maybe there will be a place for us in another lifetime” Worth the Fight is my favourite out of this trilogy, because I loved getting inside Luke’s head, he was a broken man, uncaring, still bitter, and trying to survive without Emmy which was mere impossible lol. I’m happy with how this turned out, although I could have slapped Luke a few times in the way he carried on with his life, and how he cruelly treated Emmy until he gets a reality check. In the end we get to see how one guy breaks down a strong confident woman emotionally, mentally and physically, whilst the other picks her back up, heals her scars, and ignites the flame to the love they once shared. I loved the hea and the hot scenes between Emmy and Luke were just dayum sexy, he totally makes my book boyfriend list! The secondary characters were great too, a love trilogy not to be missed, this sits on my can’t live without shelf!
This book has triggers. I wanted my friend to read it, but there was some stuff in there that would have triggered her. (Abuse)
That being said, I loved this series. You might not agree with the themes, or even like the characters, but there is no denying L.D. Can tell a story. I was biting my fingernails (metaphorically) the whole time. The anxiety it gave me was real.
The way I could relate to this was unreal. She nailed the emotions perfectly. The resentment of being the other woman. The Guilt of cheating. The anger during the confrontation. The agonizing time it takes to heal emotionally. She didn't skip anything. She didn't hide anything. It was all so real for me and raw. That's what makes me think this was amazing. The first two books were an emotional roller coaster. Incredible. I wasn't sure I wanted to read a whole book in Luke's pov since everything was tied up nicely and I knew everything. But honestly that last book gave me the most closure.
After I read Tethered and enjoyed it so much, I just had to read this trilogy. While I loved each story, they were somewhat repetitive.
Accidentally on Purpose took us in depth into the love triangle of Emmy, Luke and Kyle. I experienced every trauma, heartbreak and triumph.
In Worthy of Redemption we learned about Kyle and Lily finding each other, what lead to their dysfunction and how they loved each other through all their pain. It showed how Kyle redeemed himself and eventually getting Emmy's forgiveness for all that he put her through
Worth the Fight seemed like a complete waste of time to me. Even though it dealt with Luke and Emmy's story, it was repetitive and told the exact story that was told in the first book. About 90% of the book was verbatim, with just a few extras thrown in.
Emmy is caught up in a love triangle with her boss Kyle and the lawyer Luke who also works at her office
Kyle is the world's biggest jerk and no one likes him and he knows this but that's the way he runs his business and he's also scared of his father and his girlfriend he can't seem to stand up to his father...
Luke is a nice guy and him and Emmy start off as really fun fast friends they would have lunches together and he's always been attracted to her and he's a nice guy and he comes from a good family...
So she's seeing both of them one of the them knows but the other man doesn't!!!
I couldn't put these books down get ready ready for a wild ride..
I'm giving this book 4 stars because I've been told that if you keep thinking about a book long after you've read it then it really got to you. This book really got to me. I wasn't expecting it to be such a heavy storyline, and sometimes I wasn't really enjoying the read. But it did get me thinking... There is someone out there that is living some of this story. I think it deserves a read, because it really is a good story, and the author did an amazing job telling it.
I loved all three stories from beginning to end. Kyle and Emmy are great together but than add in Luke. Lily is strong and will also come into this love connection.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.
Accidentally on purpose
There are not enough words in the world at the moment to explain how I feel after reading this book. I usually won’t read a book with cheating in it, I mean I really detest it and at times in this book I was contemplating putting it on my DNF list because of the cheating. I just couldn’t do it though, there was something about this book that just drew me in and kept me hooked, every time I started to put it down to do something I picked it straight back up. I can’t say I really loved any of the characters though, well with the exception of Luke he kind of stole my heart a little.
Kyle was a complete dick as we all know but more than that he was a hypocritical jerk he wanted Emmy to himself but was still with Jess. There were times where I felt a little closer to him but then he would do something jerky and I would hate him all over again. In the end though my hate won out and I don’t think it will ever be reversed. There was a lot about Kyle that we didn’t know and even when we found out it wasn’t enough to like him.
Emmy ugh she really pissed me off but I felt sorry for her so it was hard to understand all my feelings, I was so torn over the things she had been through but also very annoyed at the things she had done. She was pretty hypocritical too and I couldn’t understand how she done some of the things she did. Emmy put up with a lot from Kyle and I really hope she sees the error in her ways and leaves his ass behind for good although I have a bad feeling that she won’t. I felt like Emmy was very weak willed and should have been stronger than she was! Emmy ended up a complete shell of herself and I felt my attitude towards her change from the second half of this story.
This book will seriously mess with your head, it isn’t your normal love story but it is completely worth the read. I found the writing to be very well done and the story flowed really well!!
Worthy of Redemption
Again I’m not sure how I feel about this book, there were a lot of conflicting feelings for me and I’m still trying to work through them even though I finished this story last night.
I severely hated Kyle at the end of the first book and I never thought he could redeem himself for what he had done and continued to do but I think over the course of this book he redeemed himself to some extent. There was so much of Kyles background that we didn’t find out about in book one, some of the things he has been through pulled at my heart strings and I softened a lot but even saying that I don’t think I will ever love Kyle, there was just too much cheating, lying and being a giant douche that I can’t get past!
Lily was a different kettle of fish all together. My heart broke for Lily and everything she had been through, the only thing I really didn’t like about her was she was very selfish but overall she was a good heroine. Lily had been through so much in life but she still set herself up for heartache to try to heal someone who was irrevocably broken.
Worth The Fight
I have to admit I wasn’t sure I was going to keep reading this one after the first few chapters, the only reason for this was the fact that we had read a lot of the exact same scenes from Emmy’s pov, though saying that I love to hear a story from the man’s pov so I decided to trudge on and I’m so glad I did. This story although similar to the first and part of the second books was different in its own right!
Luke was completely heartbroken after the things Emmy had done to him and understandably so. He was bitter and cruel but it didn’t take away from his character. I felt like I could totally relate to him and overall he was my favourite in the series. I loved how he stepped right into his role as a father and wouldn’t let anything get in his way. Like I said above I understood why he was so hostile but at times he was downright cold to Emmy and that broke me a little.
It was shocking to see Emmy through Luke’s eyes. I really began to like her through this book and although at times I wished she could have done things faster and stopped dragging things on. She was an amazing mum, no matter what demons she was struggling with she still tried to be the absolute best mum she could have been.
This boxset of books completely shredded me, I felt so many conflicting emotions and I never knew what was coming next. I feel like L.D Davis got her hooks in me at the start of accidentally on purpose and she still hasn’t let go! This series is going to stick with me for a long time. Be prepared to ugly cry if you are picking this series up!!
There is so much drama in these three books and they completely kept me on my toes. I’m so grateful for the chance to read and review these stories and I will definitely be reaching for something of L.D Davis again very soon.
Book one maybe 1.5 - 2 Stars. The author does not develop the characters clearly. You do not know what they look like, let alone understand their personalities. You are told LOTS of times that her boss is a dick, probably mentioned over a hundred times but never really shown if he is or not.
Heroines mom is awful. Lots of anger shown and walking away mad like immature characters would behave not someone over 30.
The second half of book one is a little better, 2.5 or 3 stars, characters are more developed. It was very depressing though. How or why people put up with abusive relationships is beyond me.
Book two can't really rate since I skimmed through most of it. Kyle and Lilly really? I wasn't interested in the characters or their unrealistic relationship and drama to read it thoroughly.
Book three Luke's view was a little clearer. I think Davis was trying to be secretive in the first books but it didn't come across that way. It was just confusing. I can enjoy a nice long series but this wasn't one of them. Book three was just a repeat of 1 from Luke's point of view.
Anyway just an OK read. Not worth the time for the entire series. Book one and three could have been combined for more clarity and a better read, omitting two altogether.
I read AOP a while ago before it turned into a series and I LOVED it. I loved everything about it. It was just so different from what I had read. The subject matter wasn't something I had read in other stories. I didn't know what was gonna happen, kept me on my toes and evoked a bunch of different feelings in me. I wanted to hate Kyle and I wasn't sure how I felt about Luke let alone Emmy.
I liked that I got to read Kyles side of things. In no way will I excuse him for what he did. I'm actually team Kyle and his POV is my favorite of all 3. Maybe it's how broken he was that attracted me to him. The need to fix him, maybe?
Luke, Luke. What a girl wouldn't give to find a man like him. He and Emmy surely had their share of trials and tribulations. But as they say when someone is made for you....
WOW! I loved, loved, loved this trilogy. The first book is a love triangle between Emmy, Kyle and Luke. It's smokin hot and the suspense is chilling. Book two is about Kyle and Lily and you get to read things from Kyle's POV which is great because parts of the story skip back to fill in some blanks about him and Emmy. And we get to find out who Lily is and about her background. Then book three is from Luke's POV and his love and life with Emmy. They're so beautiful together and parts of this story skip back to let us know what happened to him after he left Philly and Emmy and Kyle. I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND THIS TRILOGY TO EVERYONE! The suspense is intense, the anxiety will drive you crazy and the sex is freakin amazing.
This book trilogy just floored me, it was great. I had a love/hate relationship with Emmy in the first book, I felt so bad for her no matter how much she tried Kyle would not leave her alone. And Luke broke my heart, I had seen some people didn't like his POV but I really enjoyed it; there was plenty of new events that were not repeated from the first book and figuring out what was going on inside his head was just what was needed for the trilogy. I felt kind of felt bad for Kyle but this was a hard earned feeling, whatever his issues he knew he had them and still went after Emmy and broke her.
Thoroughly enjoyed this series! I was not sure about reading it as I seriously dislike cheating of any kind but I decided to give it a go and boy, am I glad I did.
The first book I so wanted Kyle and Emmy to get a HEA. They were both flawed but I wanted it all to work out. Luke was not really written well in it. I had no real feelings for him.
Book 2, I loved lily and Kyle and wanted them to be together. They went through hell but came out the other side stronger!!
book 3 - wasn't sure about reading as I dislike same story via a different point of view but we did actually get so much more of the background.
Great trilogy. So glad I got to experience it for myself...

The books were well written, I enjoyed them! I am still not feeling Lily, just something about her that I didn't really care for. I understood why she did what she did and because of her past she made crazy decisions as well. Kyle was truly messed up and had issues galore. Emmy did not make good decisions, she should have let Kyle go long before it got to that point. I was glad that Luke figured out his issues and knew what he wanted. Luke was really a great guy. I was happy to see everyone got what they wanted, well Kyle I'm still shaking my head at him, but he did deserve his redemption. Wonderful stories and character developement was very good.
I loved this trilogy! I laughed, cried, and was mad as hell at Emmy sometimes. Getting POV's from Emmy, Kyle, and Luke *swoon* was great bc it allowed you to see how each person felt. I liked that Kyle got his HEA with Lily. She was a hoot! She cracked me up! Luke, oh Luke! Luke was to die for. Glad it all worked out in the end for everyone with all the craziness that went on in their lives.
P.S. I read this in the wrong order tho. Read Tethered first :D.... But after reading Tethered, I knew I had to read this one ;)
I liked this story and most of the characters. However, At the beginning I was led to believe this was about Emmy and Kyle, and it ended about Emmy and Luke. I did not like Lily and thought her excuses for Kyle's behavior was very annoying. There were parts of this book that I just didn't care about. At the beginning I didn't like Luke but the third book changed that for me. Having said that, I didn't like that Emmy and Kyle's relationship was finished and thrown aside as if we weren't clued to how in love they were with each other. Overall a good read.
I am so glad that I bought all 3 books in one so I wouldn't have to stop. The emotions that Davis pulls out of you with these characters is crazy. One minute I hate someone, the next I feel bad for them, and the next I'm crying. This series is a crazy ride and I am glad my friend put me on it. Emmy, Luke, Kyle, Lily, they're all dysfunctional but together in they are with who they need to be great. It sucks that tragedy has to happen, but sometimes out of that tragedy comes something better and that is what Davis shows us.
I read accidentally on purpose some time last year, and only recently realized that there is more to the story! I'm soooo glad I did! I really disliked Kyle when he was with Emmy... But lily oh she was perfection! And like the title, he was definitely deserving of his happy ending... And really loved reading Luke's perspective! It really showed that nobody is perfect, and marriage takes work, but is worth every minute... Just love this series!!! Soooo glad I came back to it!

Only read book one for the simple fact that I just did not like Emmy at all. She was a complete and total train wreck who just only thinks of herself. If I were her husband, I'd put a chastity belt on her because it's only a matter of time before she cheats...again. The icing on the cake for me was the whole throwing herself at Leo,I mean get a grip woman. Needless to say, I want to keep my sanity so book one was as far as I'll go on this series.
This compilation was so much more than I imagined when I started. I wanted to scream "No Emmy", "Run Emmy", and I cried for her and understood her pain. I wanted to hate Kyle, but loved him just as Emmy did even while my heart broke for Luke. And how could I love and hate Lily all at the same time.
If you've ever been broken by life you should read these books. Make sure to read all three or you will only be partially healed.
It was good. I am not sure I would have done what Emmy did and I am not sure if I was Luke I would have stayed with her. It is a twisted web/love triangle with some pretty drastic results. I thought that book 3 just a rehash of book one from the other side. It had some new stuff but nothing that blew me away. It was just ok for me I guess.
