A Pocket Guide To... Global Warming: A Scientific and Biblical Expose of Climate Change

Rate this book
What is the truth about global warming? Are the ice caps melting? Is man the chief cause of climate change? How does solar activity affect the earth's climate? What should Christians do about global warming?

These and other questions are answered in this Pocket Guide to Global Warming. Presenting a balanced approach to climate change, experts in climatology and atmospheric science show why much of the hype and alarmism of the environmental movement is misplaced. Solid science combined with biblical truths provide real answers to this "hot" topic.

We hear a lot in the media about global warming. But what is it, and should we be concerned about it? This small book sets out to answer those questions and more. The best part of this book is not just what we do and don't know about global warming, but the Biblical implications of it all. This is one pocket book in a series that is excellent. Sometimes we don't need a 400 page book to help us understand when a small 96 page one suits just fine.

This was a great little booklet about the current situation of Global Warming. It acknowledges that global warming is actually occurring, but at the same time it gives the practical reality that there is too little evidence to conclude that all global warming is man-made and that the humans are on the verge of destroying the planet.

To the contrary, the scientists in this booklet show some rather interesting empirical data on the relationship between sunspots and global warming compared to that of carbon emission and global warming. By way of research it is estimated that only half of the global warming should be attributed to humans.

On that point, they certainly squelch any reason for hysteria, because an entire "half" of global warming that could be considered human-caused is a whopping 0.6 degrees Fahrenheit. They show this to be a hugely insignificant number compared to what Al Gore's movie and other global warming outlets are trying to convince the masses.

Speaking of Al Gore, another interesting part of this booklet was that while his movie shows a desperate polar bear struggling to survive on the 'last sheet of ice' as it were, in reality, the population of polar bears has grown by a factor of 3.

What also is discussed is the potential value that global warming could provide. For instance it would allow more land in northern areas to be more fruitful in agriculture. It would also decrease the amount of deaths due to extreme weather (they point out that more people die from the cold than do from the heat).

Their is also some political and economic discussion that is greatly needed, yet unfortunately is going largely unheard.

At the end of the book a transcript of the accompanying video is printed. The video was especially helpful, and you can get buy the DVD from Answers in Genesis or access the video for free at this link:

The only down side to this booklet is that its size makes it easy to lose. I've lost it twice now! ;-)

All jokes aside, I do recommend both the booklet and the video, as they are great introductory resources into equipping people with a more balanced understanding of global warming.

I have one more thought I would throw in there, which is talked about throughout the presentations. As Christians we must understand that it is our human responsibility to take care of the earth (Gen. 1:28). However, we must also understand that fundamentally we as humans will never destroy the earth (Gen. 8:21-22), but that God Himself will destroy it at His appointed time (2 Pet. 3:10-13). While we need to be good stewards, we do not need to unnecessarily fear that we are going to "kill the earth."

This is another great no nonsense “truth that’ll fit in your pocket” from the Answers in Genesis team. It provokes great questions and simplified data that could be considered blasphemy by the religion of climate change.

Much needed balanced approach to global warming. It is happening but not at the alarmist rate that is advertised. We are to be stewards of earth but not slaves to it.

interesting, especially the solar causation theory.
