Fallen Tears

Rate this book
An élite club of shamed angels – the Fallen – welcomes disgraced super-naturals, like me. Defiant and vengeful, we’re catalysts in destruction and mayhem, much to our angelic adversaries’ dismay. Satisfying the void left in our soulless bodies motivates many Fallen to play with feeble humans. For even though we wield infernal-powers, they have one thing we crave. Souls. As a Fallen, an infinite number of days lay before me – if I choose. The Big Man upstairs always gives us a choice. I can accept my fate and perish, or consume a human’s soul and live. The last one I devoured glows like a firefly inside my chest. One day, it’ll flicker and fade into darkness. The Archangels who cast me from heaven would claim victory in the everlasting battle we wage, unless I consume another. My next victim? A young man with ridiculously enticing lips. Gorgeous doesn’t define his otherworldly appearance. His vogue hairstyle accentuates his sky-blue eyes. His laugh echoes in my ears. His perfect smile is burned to memory. The undeniable urge to consume his soul unveils my wicked inhibitions. I want him… his soul. One problem – he’s protected by a Guardian angel.

Award Winning Author, Sarah J. Pepper, specializes in fantasy and paranormal romance. She unveils the beauty of love in her new adult/young adult novels. Her works envelope dark, paranormal romance - think "happy ever after" but with a twisted, dark chocolate center. Real-life romance isn't only filled with hugs, kisses, bunnies, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It's in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of - both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn't always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. However, it doesn't mean Charming is not Mr. Right, and who says every shoe is the perfect fit? www.sarahjpepper.com

As a dyed-in-the-wool Spiritualist, I am by temperament perhaps, more drawn to this type of story than maybe others would be. But, with all that , I felt that it spoke to me personally & that anyone would be able to appreciate & enjoy it.

Brilliant!

“For when Angels sin, they fall.” Pg. 11 (nook color)

Miriam is an Angel of Death who is betrayed by her best friend and sister, Jezebell. We first meet the two when Miriram is bringing a soul to the gatekeeper. He then informs Miriam that the soul’s life she took was not yet supposed to die; that he still had yet to fulfill his destiny. She is then stripped of her wings and is destined to live a damned life as a Fallen.

How unfair is that?!

It was not Miriam’s fault by a long shot; how was she to know her own sister would do such a viscous thing?

We come in to the present day and find out that they only way for Miriam to survive is by taking human souls aka killing. She enrolls in a school, and voila! She meets Lincoln who is oh so gorgeous and Miriam’s latest victim. But here is the catch…he is also her soulmate!

What the what??? How…?! Why!!!! Then I thought...oooh this is going to be good! And I wasn’t disappointed in the least. Lincoln is popular, beautiful, and nice. Sound boring? Well it wasn’t, he is great. He also has a jerk of an ex girlfriend who apparently has not been told that she is the big fat X. She is not that significant to me, so I won’t even bother talking about her.

Want to know a secret about her soulmate/latest meal? Lincoln's Guardian Angel is none other than an Angel that Miriam was training back when she wasn't a Fallen. Neat huh?

So back to Lincoln in Miriam, or should I say Miri. That is the name she goes by. She also is able to change her whole appearance! (And I want to say more but I don’t want to give everything away in the book.) I like her actual appearance though (as does Lincoln) because she is more real, also she has tattoos! I don’t even like tattoos either, but they work so well for Miri. Anyways, I am getting sidetracked again. I really enjoyed Miri as a main character. She is strong and bad a**. It is amazing how she tries so hard to be good even though in her mind she thinks she is bad. The ultimate anti-hero is what I kept thinking while reading. Usually it is a man or the boy in the story who plays the “bad” guy but deep downs has good intentions. Not in this case though! Girls Rule.*sticks tongue out*

Fallen Tears proves that love really does conquer all. Overall, I highly recommend reading this wonderful story that is full of romance and action. It will leave you breathless and rooting for two people to race against the odds of being together. The ultimate test of true love is being able to overcome all the obstacles the world throws at you. And in the end being so much stronger than you were in the first place. You can't beat that folks.

Miri lost her wings when she listened to her sister and took a soul before it's time. Now, she must take souls to survive on earth. She has chosen her next victim, but there is something different about him...Lincoln is her soulmate!

Dodging her former protege, Daniel, who is Linc's 'guardian', Miriam must use her talents to hide her true form from or risk being killed by him on sight.

When old 'friends' complicate things for her, the lives of both Miri and Linc (and more!) are at stake.

Having previously read books involving the 'fallen', I thoroughly enjoyed reading about one who considers herself an anti-hero but is actually still 'good'. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style! I have already purchased more.

While this book and the others are geared more towards a YA or teen genre, I really think there is a much deeper element to them.

Fallen Tears was a new twist to your Angel type of stories. Sarah made it unique and captivating. Most angels are graceful and out to protect others. However, Miriam is not your typical Angel, actually she's not even your typical fallen either, she's out for one person...herself. Until Lincoln enters her life and changes how she looks at the world and how she lives it. With so many others after her she needs to not only protect her self but those she has learned to care for as well.

I really loved the twist and turns in Fallen Tears. It was original, I highly recommend this book for any one who loves fantasy reads. The only complaint I have is that it needs a good round of edits, but don't let this dryer you from reading this amazing book.

This was not at all what I was expecting based on the synopsis. It was way more religious than I thought (to the point where scriptures were used as normal conversation) and I am not into reading that. Even so, this was still a really good story. It was short, but wasn't lacking. The characters were interesting and I always wanted to know what Miri would choose to do next.

Miri was an angel of death before her sister tricked her and she was forced to fall. As a fallen, she has to consume the souls of the living or else she'll die. Which is bad enough, but because she has had her own soul taken, what awaits her is literally a world of nothingness. So Miri reluctantly kills to live, but she always tires to choose bad people. Her current soul is dying out on her and she needs to find a new one. Her target isn't a bad person, but she wants his. It should be an easy task for her, but from their first interaction he makes her feel more than she ever has since her fall. Linc's touch fills the hole inside of her from her lack of soul, and the more time she spends with him the happier she becomes. She does try to push him away, often, but from the first moment he met her gaze Linc wanted her and he fights to get her.

Making things so much harder for Miri is the fact that there are other fallen that want her weapon and threaten Linc. Miri is determined to keep him alive, and fortunately she is not alone. Linc is a modern day prophet and as such has his own guardian angel. Eventually more come to protect him, and it's a good thing because when the other fallen make their move against him, Miri is in no condition to save him.

The ending was a little vague and perhaps too short, but I did spend a good portion of the book wondering how these two soul mates would actually be able to be together and this worked for me.

My Review

Sarah J. Pepper has done it again! Yep, she had me hook line and sinker with this book. I was so intrigued after just reading the prologue that I had to finish this book in one sitting------> It was that good! Pepper has a way with her words like no other Paranormal Romance author. I found myself gasping and maybe a little teary eyed at parts and then swooning and sighing at others. I am a HUGE fan of hers! Her work speaks for itself. I mean just take a peek at the You Tube Book Trailer above and you will understand why I was pulled in so deep to this book! I was a bit nervous at first when I read it had a biblical sense to it I thought.....Hmm, could I enjoy a book like this but I quickly found out OH YES I CAN! This book had everything I was hoping it would have the tension was so tight you couldn't slice it with a knife. I love a book with a solid story line that has characters that are not only intriguing but real!

So what is Fallen Tears about? It's about a fallen angel of course but not just any fallen angel -------> Miriam is her name and she is one bad ass chic! I absolutely fell in love with her character and her tattoos :) What happens when you're cast out of Heaven and considered one of the fallen for something you didn't do? When you trust the one person your best friend and sister only to have her betray you? That is what happen's to Miriam she entrusted her sister Jezebell that she would guide her to bring those to the gates who were ready only this certain soul wasn't suppose to be there yet. When you commit a sin against Heaven you are punished and the punishment was excruciating for Miriam. Literally, it ripped my heart out a little and her wings right off of her back. She wanted to be good and she tried but in order to live as a Fallen you must consume souls to continue to exist. So what happens when you meet someone who you are so draw to you must bargain with your mentor for answers? Their touch lights a fire in you that you didn't know you had. You crave them but there is only one problem well maybe two problems but the major one is you want their soul. Your body craves it but craves him at the same time. Do you choose to given to fate and take his soul or find another way?

Oh Lincoln or Linc as Miriam called him. That boy was sexy as sin (tehehehehe,) sweet, caring, and had a soul to take. He was so drawn to Miriam even before she changed her appearance to look like the other girls around him-----> Oh did I forget to mention Miriam could change her appearance What I would do to be able to do that every day! However, Linc wanted her the real her the only problem was she wanted him and his soul. His soul would allow her to live and she would no longer be a fallen....Oh and she would get into Heaven -----> BIG BONUS! What happens when your soul mate also happens to be the very soul you crave so much? You will have to read Fallen Tears to see how Miriam and Linc's story plays out :) I can't ruin all the fun for ya! Trust me when I say you will absolutely positively LOVE this story! If you're a fan of paranormal romance and Young Adult fiction Fallen Tears is the book for YOU! Enjoy :)

James 1:14-15
14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Miri is a Fallen angel, it's not her fault, she was lied to and tricked into taking a soul that she wasn't supposed to take, by her own sister. Angels don't care why you did it and she is shown no mercy. She is stripped of her wings and sent to earth, where she is supposed to lose all of her powers. Miri is different though, she retains some of her powers and tries to live under the radar. Miri must take the souls of people in order to stay alive, she only does it when she is close to death and she despises it. She gets by ok until she meets Linc, a guy that she is drawn to, even though it could mean the end of her. She finds out that due to their connection, if she takes his soul, she would never have to take another. But can she really take the soul of the one person who accepts her for her, and is open minded, patient and loving. Linc is just plain good. Between Fallen Angels from her past, Guardian Angels to hide from, and a choice to be made, her life is getting more confusing each day. Her feelings for Linc are deepening, and she has to decide whether to love him and die herself or to take his soul so she never has to take another. When the Angels finally show, will she be caught in the crossfire, will Linc? Her decision will carry more weight than even she knows and could change the course of the future. Here is a quote from the wonderful Linc. "There is a darkness in you, even I can see that." he said, truthfully. "But you're blind to the light residing there too, Miri. You were created in His image--in His light too." I enjoyed this book, Miri's inner struggle to figure out what the right thing is, her guilt over the souls she has stolen to live, her anger at the betrayal of her sister, they define her. Miri is a Fallen angel, but not a bad one. She has a conscience, she wants to do the right thing, she just doesn't know what it is. Linc is the guy we all want our daughters to marry, patient, sweet, giving and completely non judgmental. The evil Fallen are truly evil and the "Good" Angels are questionable to me at times, due to how judgmental they are. The book has scriptures peppered throughout, but they aren't preachy, they are woven into and integral to the story. I loved the storyline and I'm not sure if this is a stand alone book or if there will be more, but either way, I would recommend it as a good read.

I got this book as a giveaway from the author with Goodreads. I liked the blurb, and liked the premise of the book. I was so not disappointed.

Miriam is an Angel of Death. She gives mortals the Kiss of Death, and takes their souls to the gates so they can move onto the next life. When she is tricked into taking a soul before its time, she becomes a Fallen, stripped of her wings, and cast down to earth.

Now living on Earth as a Fallen, Miri is forced to consume human souls to survive. She lives an existence she hates. Until she meets Lincoln. Lincoln could be Miri's way out of her hateful existence. But will her Fallen mentor Atossa let her?

As Miri hunts Lincoln, she starts to fall for him, and wonders if she can do the deed that will allow her to move on to a new existence. Will Atossa declare war on Miri and Lincoln? Will Miri be able to kill the man she's falling in love with?

I loved this book. While it does have some religious undertones, hey, angels, I get it, it's not preachy at all. This book takes an unlikely heroine, one who is actually not a heroine at the beginning.

The only real detractors from the books were some minor typos throughout, and the fact that at the very beginning of the book, Miri came across as a wooden character. Miri's character quickly comes through though, and I warmed up to her.

The story is completely original, and the author's writing style is also very unique. I cannot wait to read more of her books! Do yourself a favor and pick this book up!

Fallen Tears is a sweet romance centered around a fallen angel, Miriam. In finding her latest mark, she encounters a set of circumstances that are beyond the ordinary. This boy, Lincoln, holds the potential to free her from damnation. The question is if she is willing to take the steps to become mortal.

I found the story to be a reasonably quick read. The plot line was interesting, and I found myself rooting for the fallen angel. Wait. Are they supposed to be the bad guys? Well, yes and no. Even a fallen angel is allowed to repent.I liked this book. Being familiar with Scripture is a plus, but a number of the quotes are referenced by book, chapter, and verse. I believe the American King James Bible was the reference for these. I mean, this is a book about angels. You have to expect some quotes.

The romance is sweet and the language isn't anything to worry about. I can safely recommend this one for any age group and would call it safe for work. Unless some Nosy Nancy peeping over your shoulder has a problem with Christianity, there shouldn't be any issues. I look forward to seeing more from Sarah Pepper in the future.

I am telling you right now, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK! I could not put it down. Right from the beginning I got sucked in, I could not wait to see how the ending turned out. The ending brought tears to my eyes (however I won't say whether they were happy or sad tears, you'll have to read it & find out for yourselves)

I loved the characters; Miriam - she is a "Fallen" and one bad-a** chick. And "Linc" *sigh* definitely different from the boys/men I usually read. He is the complete opposite of a "bad boy", he is such a sweetheart. And there are many other characters, Angels, Archangels, Fallen... the story was just amazing. Loved it!

Oh my goodness. I couldn't do it. The author obviously found a best friend in her thesaurus. In the first 8 sentences/2 paragraphs there were 15 descriptors, if I identified them correctly.

I just couldn't do it. The premise sounded really intriguing. After the first paragraph, I thought maybe I could push through. I really wanted to read this. But... If it was going to continue in the same manner? Ugh.

At only $0.99, I still regret paying for it. Maybe another time I'll see if I can push through. Maybe the author's craft improves as the story progresses? I feel really badly... ugh.

Looking at the ratings, it looks like I'm seriously in the minority. :P Sorry!!

This books was pretty great. The main character wasn't destined to save the world and wasn't the picture perfect heroine. The ending was good and I'm looking forward to the next book, now "everyone" is good.

I loved this book so much! Pepper paints such a vivid picture with her words that I was completely in awe, not to mention hooked, after only the prologue. I love the unique storyline and the character development. She also did a great job with her scriptural research. This is a MUST READ!!

I liked this book. An interesting read. I think maybe more could have been explained about Jezabel's decision. Unless that is meant to be another story, book #2. Over all a nice quick read.
