Becoming a vampire guardian was Dawn Fairchild’s ticket out of the Scarlet House. Fresh off a successful mission, life in Angel Creek should have been great. But when her sort-of-maybe-boyfriend, Sebastian, disappears on a quest to help a beautiful vampire from his past, Dawn finds herself amidst a web of danger, lies, and deceit. Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—or something—desperately wants her and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her. Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.

I am seriously addicted to this series. If you’ve seen my review of ReVamped you know just how much I love it. And now it’s time to review ReAwakened and share with you my thoughts on it. I’ve said it many times before, but reading books from Indie Authors can be some of the best reading experiences you will ever have. And I think that couldn’t be more true than with the Angel Creek Series. Everything about these books are phenomenal.
Ada is back with an incredible addition to the series. It’s packed full of awesomeness. And for all of you out there really looking forward to the romance in ReAwakened. I can assure you that you will be happy with the romance in this book. She really kicked it up a notch compared to the first book, but it’s still not an extremely major focus just as I mentioned in my review of the first book. But I feel like it does really go well having a little more of it in this book, considering the direction some of the plot lines go in. That is enough about the romance though, there is also a ton of action in this book. If you thought there was a lot in ReVamped, you’re really in for a treat once you jump into ReAwakened.
You’re really able to see Ada grow as a writer when you read these books. ReVamped was amazing, but ReAwakened goes even further than that. And I think it’s awesome to see authors strengthen themselves as writers when they are working on a series or something. Especially if it’s their first. I think it’s safe to say that the Angel Creek Series ( that is out so far) is my favorite series of the year. And it’s all due to the amazing writing, and just the fact that it’s such a refreshing and engaging series. As I mentioned in my review of the first book, this series really is creating a major stepping stone for the Vampire Genre and I think Ada is setting some new heights for the genre, and really helping to make it one of the best genres in YA again.
ReAwakened brings on a whole new life for all the characters. I adore the Misfits, and I feel like Ada was really able to spice up all the characters in this book. Dawn is back, better than ever. Still as bad a-- as she always was but you also really get to see some different sides of her that are really refreshing. Sebastian is also back, and I am sure people will be really happy with him in this book. I think Ada really did a fantastic job with the relationship in this book, and it was an amazing part of the story. You also have Brooke and Seth, which were two of my favorite characters in this book. Those two are just so cute together, always bickering and making little comments. Some of the comments they make back and forth were some of my favorite lines in the book. And you can’t forget Sophie and Hunter. I feel like Sophie is one of the more quiet characters in this book, but she really is an amazing character. There are actually a few key plotlines that surround her though, so that is pretty awesome. But I won’t go into them. Hunter on the other hand becomes a focal point in this story, you learn so much about him and he really becomes quite a likeable character in this book. I think you all will really enjoy him. And last but not least as far as previously mentioned characters go, you also learn a lot more about Aurora. Another character I can’t go into, but I can say that you’re in for some surprises.
You’re also introduced to quite a few new characters in this book. One of which is Razor, now I can’t really go into much detail about him simply because there are so many spoilers surrounding him. But I am sure if you’re a fan of the series you have heard him mentioned quite a few times. Lets just say he is quite a wild character. But I really enjoyed having him added to the story. Another character you’re introduced to is Lena. She is a friend of Sebastian’s, and does kind of cause a little drama at the start of the book. But she is actually a really awesome character that brings a lot of interesting twists to the story. Some of which will have huge impacts on Dawn and the others. I wish I could go into more detail, but I think it will be much better for you if I left you to figure all of that out on your own.
That isn’t all of the new characters, but just a few that I wanted to talk about. You will be introduced to several other interesting characters that have some pretty major impacts on the story. As I mentioned before, Ada has really went above and beyond with the characters in the second book making them all better than ever. And I can only imagine we will see that trend continue with book three.
There is honestly so much more I could talk about when it comes to ReAwakened, but I feel like this review is already getting pretty lengthy. I am very happy to of had the chance to read this series, and to see just how amazing of a writer Ada is and be able to become so attached to this amazing world and group of characters she has created. I honestly can’t recommend this series enough, as you can probably tell by my endless review of this book. It’s seriously one of the most captivating series I have ever read, and it really deserves a ton of attention. I think people could easily fall in love with Dawn, Sebastian, Razor and the rest of the Misfits and other characters. If you haven’t had the chance to start this series yet, I would highly suggest picking up ReVamped and giving it a shot. I am sure you will love it. If you have read ReVamped, I really hope that you will enjoy ReAwakened just as much as I did. I am eagerly awaiting book three in the series, and I am sure once you read ReAwakened you will be too.
Mini Review: (Old)
Goodreads Staff, could you please implement a system that allows more in-depth rating than just 5 stars? This book deserves so much more than just a 5 star label.
It's been amazing watching Ada grow as a writer as she writes this series. ReVamped was amazing, but she was able to knock ReAwakened completely out of the park. I can't wait until everyone is able to read this book. ReVamped been in the number 2 spot on my list of favorite books of 2012, but ReAwakened has swooped in and claimed the number one spot on my list for the year making this series a one two punch.
Here is a little snippet from Chapter 14 featuring Dawn, Brooke and Seth. I love Brooke and Seth. :)
--- “We're back at square one,” I admitted, repressing a defeated sigh.
“I'm pretty sure that now we're at square negative one,” Brooke grumbled.
“You just made a math joke, Brooke.” Seth couldn't hide the smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “There may still be hope for you yet,” he said. ---
You're all really in for a treat once this book is published though, and I hope you will be able to enjoy it as much as I have.
This really is a fresh new look in the vampire lore. Chubby vampires, druggies, cheerleaders, nerds and even one who needs glasses. Dawn's misfit mesh of vamps really are endearing and really make this one fun read that is quite unique in the world of vampires right now.
I really liked the first book in this series, ReVamped so I was ecstatic to read the next installment.
So much happened in the first book. So many discoveries and adventure that, although I loved the first book and remembered most of it, I was really glad this was one of those series that recapped the happenings in the first without making it feel like it was dragged out so much you might as well have re-read the whole thing. Just enough info was told to remind me of what happened and where it left off.
I was so happy to see that everyone made an appearance within the first few chapters and we even get to see a few new faces as well.
This book turned out to be so much more than I thought it would be. More emotional, more action, more heartfelt. Or maybe I just connected better to Dawn and her Misfits, either way I really enjoyed this one.
I loved that not only Dawn grew as a character but so did Hunter, Sebastian, Brooke, Sophie and Seth. They all grew in small ways and big ways and that is one of my favorite things to see in a series.
And while on the subject of characters, I loved Razor! I adored his bad boy vibe.
We also get a whole new slew of villains, some I didn't see coming and some I did. They are all one you will love to hate.
So many twists and turns in this one. Some I predicted but most, like that ending, I did not. Ms. Adams, I am not sure whether I should thank you for this amazing read or curse you for that ending! I had tears in my eyes. I can't...I don't even have words. All I know is that I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series and know that I will be devouring it as soon as I get it into my hot little hands.
ReAwakened begins two weeks after the ending of ReVamped and the stakes are even higher than before. We’re back with our beloved heroine, Dawn, along with all the misfits. There’s also a good helping of Sebastian and a bunch of new characters that will either make you swoon or make you want to pull your hair out. Ada Adams really brings ReAwakened to a whole other level with more romance, action, and surprises you’ll just never expect! Angel Creek fans are in for a roller coaster ride that will have your heart racing!
Dawn is still that strong, courageous and brave girl I absolutely loved in the first book. In ReAwakened, we definitely see another side of her. A side that is vulnerable and shows weaknesses that make her real and graspable. She grows for the better because even though Dawn is strong in nearly every way, she's not fearless. In ReAwakened, Dawn really tries to hold herself together after everything that has happen and she doesn’t fall a part. Dawn puts her life on the line and sacrifices herself in many situations that anger me, but also made me admire her ten fold. The sheer amount of love she had for her friends is inspiring and goes to show how truly amazing she is. Dawn has always been a good person in and out and she shines here in ReAwakened. This time around Dawn really faces her grief, the truth, and all fears that have been plaguing her for so long.
The new characters in ReAwakened are a wonderful addition to the series. There are some characters I absolutely loved from the very start and there are some characters I hated with no hesitation. While others grew on me the more I read. Adams does incredible job of placing these characters and having them rock the stability in the story. These characters not only surprised me, but also shocked me beyond belief. There’s even old characters that come back that I never even imagined would create such chaos. Ada Adams also gives more background story with some of the misfits that made me connect with them more.
Ada Adams continued to impress me with her fabulous writing. I was engrossed and completely taken over by the whole story. It was balanced and it had a perfect story arc complete with a building climax and a resolution with a shocking ending that begged for more. The pacing of the book was just amazing! Each chapter had more build up from the previous one until I hit the explosive revelation. Ada added a lot of elements into ReAwakened that worked well with the story and had me guessing all the time. I never quite knew what going to happen next. Every chapter was unexpected and had my anticipation building. The best part of ReAwakened is Ada’s ability to evoke all kinds of emotions from happiness, to anger, to swooning, to nervousness, to sadness and heartbreak. Whatever emotion you could feel, it’s felt while reading this book and how Ada can do this is just sheer brilliance and true talent.
Overall, ReAwakened was even better than its predecessor. Any expectations I could have anticipated were blown away. Saying that I enjoyed it is an immense understatement! ReAwakened had a great amount of romance, angst, action, humor, and sadness anyone could hope for. Fans of the Angel Creek series will not be disappointed and be left in complete and utter speechlessness.
When Ada Adams first revealed the cover of her second book in the Angel Creek series, ReAwakened, she said there was a definite “blood” theme to this book. Holy cow, that was NOT an understatement!! Where ReVamped was a light, campy, fun vampire story, ReAwakened swings the other direction and brings us a darker, bloodier tale. But she manages to deliver sizzling romance (see references to shirtless Sebastian) amongst the gore – and it totally works!!!
Story / Tempo
ReAwakened picks up shortly after ReVamped. Dawn is dealing with some heavy losses from the previous book (no spoilers here!) while trying to navigate her first romantic feelings for a guy… EVER! Soon, our team of misfits have a mission; born vampires are being kidnapped. In true Dawn style, she drops her personal problems to go save others. Well, that’s all she’s ever known how to do.
The story is set up incredibly well, weaving in and out of the two major plot drivers evenly throughout the book. And although I figured out who the “bad guys” were before the big reveal, I did get tripped up several times during the story. I think that’s a perfect balance for a young adult novel.
Setting / World Building
Because this is an urban fantasy, our setting is the world we live in. Where world building comes into play is the fact that the vampires are “out” and they seek fame and fortune in Hollywood. What I really enjoyed was getting into the history of the born vampires and how they are fundamentally different than “made” vampires.
Characters
It’s in the details that Ms. Adams wrap up into her characters that really make her books come alive for me. Besides the obvious fact that this is the second book in the series so of course we’re going to learn more about our characters, we get even more depth. If Dawn doesn’t have a mission or a weapon in her hand, she is completely socially awkward and in unknown social territory with Sebastian. I really feel sorry for her; despite what it looked like on the outside, she really had a crappy childhood and missed out on so much!
In ReVamped, we got Seth and Sophie’s backstories. In ReAwakened, we get Brooke and Hunter’s backstories. Let’s just say their stories fit the darker tone of this book and leave it at that. UGH, I wish I could say more!!! I know! I haven’t mentioned the new character, Razor. I love this guy!! He’s rugged, good looking, a total flirt, and his past haunts him. What more can you want in your hero? I might just actually love Razor more than…
Shirtless Sebastian… off the top of my head I can count 3 instances of shirtless Sebastian (well, okay, we won’t count one because he was —). But seriously, Sebastian is substantially more prominent in this book than the last. And I have to say, I was swooning left and right whenever he spoke to Dawn. If this wasn’t a young adult book, I might have taken a half point off my review for how quickly he turned around and got all lovey-dovey. But it’s also been six months since I read ReVamped so my memory is most likely faulty when it comes to how much Sebastian was actually brooding in the first book.
Speaking of books, I have to warn you, this has a cliffhanger (yikes). Per Ms. Adams blog, she’ll be announcing the name of the next book in the series shortly. I can only hope that shortly thereafter she’ll have that book up on Amazon for me to buy (a girl can dream).
I have to admit, a day after I finished ReAwakened, I’m still haunted by the ending and feeling —-. If a book can keep me thinking about it into the next day or two, that tells me it’s a pretty PERFECT book.
Thanks to Ada Adams for the opportunity to read this <3
Guys, this was great. I laughed, I sobbed, I shook my fist in the air. All. The. Feels. Loved this!
Can I just start by saying how much I love these covers? they're so in sync with how they match and Dawn and Sebastian on the cover! OTP!
ReAwakened was a roller coaster, just like ReVamped, if not more. I loved this book so much, just thinking about it gets me all teary eyed. Once you read it, you will know why. This was a great book and I couldn't put it down. When I was not reading this book, I was thinking about it.
I loved Ada's writing in ReVamped and ReAwakened was no exception. There's a certain quality to Ada's writing that I love. I mentioned this in my ReVamped review as well. It's so natural, it flows and it feels like Dawn - the narrator - is reading her story to me. Ada's writing seems effortless on the page, flowing word after word and I love it. From the first sentence I was hooked.
I love these band of Misfits and I loved the addition of Razor. He added some light and humour to the book and I think it was what the book needed. Razor was hilarious and everything he said made me laugh. Even though Razor has no control WHATSOEVER over his tongue, you can't help but love him for it. I really want to see more of him in the next book and see him grow as a character. I also loved learning about the Misfits backstories and I thought it added more depth and character growth to them. Dawn was great, still recovering from the events of ReVamped but doesn't let it get her down. She perseveres, pushing on and does what she thinks is right and takes action into her own hands, relying on nobody but herself. The tension between Dawn and Sebastian was so thick in this book that I just wanted them to get together already. Speaking of getting together, Brooke and Seth, you know, admit it already.
I loved the plot, the twists and turns, the unexpected revelations that left my jaw hanging. Just when you think, 'ah, that makes sense, this is how it'll end', Ada is like, 'Ah, no.' However, once you reach the end everything ties together and you want to smack yourself for not realising sooner.
The end. I was sobbing. I kept flicking the screen of my reader, thinking there was more to the book but there wasn't. Cue more sobbing. I loved this book, every single bit.
This book was a whirlwind of surprises, twists after every turn, revelation after revelation and I loved every piece of it. I really was sobbing when I finished. Ada Adams' writing is so vivid that her descriptions seem so real and in emotional scenes it would leave you sobbing.
I'm not sure where to start this review really. There aren't enough words to describe how amazing this book was. It was EPIC! For those of you who have read ReVamped (Angel Creek #1) you will know that it was action-packed yet quite light-hearted. But ReAwakened is darker, grittier and much more intense. For me it was a roller coaster ride full of action, lust, turmoil, passion and something a little deeper...!
This time round, the team in Angel Creek kick things up a notch. The new President disbands them as a team after an attack on Scarlett House. But the team aren't prepared to take it lying down. Born vampires are being kidnapped and they won't rest until they solve the mystery and return them to their rightful places.
Dawn is outraged by the fact that Born vampires are being taken and she will stop at nothing, no matter the personal cost, to get them all back in one piece. They say what you don't know can't hurt you, but in this case that's just not true. Dawn has no information, no idea where to start looking for the missing. To add to that fact, Sebastian has disappeared with his friend Lena on a mission to rescue Lena's sister who is one of the missing Born. So the team, minus Sebastian, must do all they can to find any shred of information to help Dawn. Sebastian left without telling Dawn so that she wouldn't get embroiled in the mess. But as stubborn as she is, Dawn refuses to sit back and do nothing. She tells the team that with or without them she will rescue the Born. The team stand by their leader and they all embark on a journey they won't soon forget.
The task they have undertaken will be extremely difficult for them all. Fraught with worry over Sebastian's whereabouts, Dawn finds it especially hard.
During the mission, Dawn battles with her thoughts and feelings. She can't admit how she feels about Sebastian, not even to herself. One minute they are sharing a deep, heartfelt kiss. The next they are like two ships that pass in the night, not acknowledging the ever-growing, ever-deepening feelings they have for each other.
Don't get me wrong, not everything in the book is dark and gritty. There are lighter moments. Mainly provided by new character Razor. That guy is a laugh a minute. He's cute, funny, sarcastic, witty. He makes a move on Dawn several times, only to be rebuffed because she's unsure of the situation between her and Sebastian. But for entertainment sake, Razor really is the guy. He's also a good ally to have given the current situation.
There are also some hot, hot, HOT moments that are top secret *my lips are sealed* I wouldn't want to ruin your first-hand enjoyment of them!
Ada Adams is a great author. In fact she's one of my favourites. In book 1, I knew I was totally hooked on this series and then book 2 came along and I was even more hooked. I can't wait to see what she has in store for book 3. I'm like a junkie awaiting my next fix! I fell head over heels in love with Sebastian from the moment I laid eyes on him and this book only further cemented my love for him. As for Dawn? She is one of the most kick-A heroines to date in YA. She's strong, stubborn, sarcastic... wait a minute, I could be describing myself there too... no wonder I like her so much ;) The rest of the team are some of the funniest bunch of misfits ever put together. Seth the computer nerd. Brooke the high-school beauty queen wannabe. Sophie the introverted book lover. Hunter the quiet, broody ex-junkie turned reliable team member that will fight side by side with you tooth and nail. You just have to love them all.
The thing I loved most about this book was the fact that it had twists and turns that were built to make you think you knew what was coming and then BAM! it hits you that you are in fact incorrect.
The thing that I liked least about this book was the fact that it had to end! I got to the end and was like "No, there has to be more pages that I'm missing, it can't end like this."
I won't lie to you. This book sure wasn't all smiles and I definitely cried (a couple of times) so just a warning to have some tissues ready. Ada manages to weave her spell on you so that you can't help but fall into this world head first and never want to leave.
If I could sum up this book in just a mere sentence, I would say; ReAwakened is action packed and immense, something to really sink your teeth into (pardon the pun).
Thank you to Ada for the ARC copy and for letting me BETA read this wonderful book. You truly are fantastic. I look forward to the next installment in Angel Creek. Until then I will settle for dreaming of Sebastian ;)
Oh, how I love it when a sequel is even better than the first book. After reading ReVamped, I didn’t know what to expect or what other adventures awaited Dawn and her team of misfits, but boy, did Ada throw me for a loop in this one. I really couldn’t put this book down.
Dawn changes a lot in this book and you really start to see her come into her own shell and believe in the confidence and strength in herself that she tries to portray to everyone else. She becomes a lot more courageous, selfless, and determined, fighting for her friends and trying her best to save those in danger. She discovers a lot more about herself, her special vampire powers, and even more truths about her crazy past, which is connected to the Born kidnappings. While I really liked Dawn in the first book, I grew to love her in this book and can say she’s turned into one of those kickass female leads that I love so much. The plot really thickens in ReAwakened and even though I figured out who the enemy was way before Dawn did, there was one thing I totally didn’t see coming (I love it when that happens).
The misfits also grow a lot more in ReAwakened and their ability to work as a team shines through. You also get to know them better, each sharing their pasts at pivotal points throughout the book, I loved learning more about them and seeing why they are the way they are. I really have a soft spot for Hunter (heart him!) and Brooke (so funny and adorable) after reading this book. Their friendship has grown so much and I love how much they care for each other. Easily one of my favorite ensemble of characters ever! Sebastian! I’m in love with this guy! He really does a number in this one. I never once doubted his feelings for Dawn, but the way he handled it was pretty typical for his brooding, “emo” character. In an effort to keep Dawn safe from the big mystery behind the Born kidnappings, he ventures off alone with a female friend from his past. I can see why he did it, and I love that because of his actions, their bond grows and becomes that much stronger once they’re reunited. There’s definitely some friction and tumultuous scenes along the way, but eventually they learn to trust in each other’s strengths and listened to each other more. I really enjoyed watching their love blossom. Oh, the moment when he shows her how he really feels is so sweet and romantic, I totally fell for him even more.
And Razor! I’m in lust with him! LOL! He is so funny, charming, sexy, and perverted (in that cute, good way that girls love) right from the start, you can’t help but love him. He’s one of those outgoing, hilarious characters that I love reading about. With a troubled and twisted past, it’s easy to see why he is the way that he is, but it totally makes you love him even more. I loved every moment of when he and Dawn are interacting, and even though I sense an underlying attraction or possible feelings, their relationship is so much more than that. I loved watching Sebastian’s reaction to their relationship and some scenes were so hilarious, I really couldn’t get enough.
I was honestly engrossed from beginning to end with ReAwakened. Ada’s ability to keep a book light-hearted and fun while bringing in such a gripping tale of mystery and action is so outstanding, I am a true fan. And OMG, that ending! No, Ada! NOOOOOO (I seriously screamed that at the end of the book, frantically tapping the screen for more pages to no avail)! Why would you do that to me?!?! Note: cliffhanger ending (and a sweet, romantic, crazy, sad, emotional one at that!) I need to know what happens next!
Dawn Fairchild thought she was done defeating evil after the demise of her evil uncle Viktor. She's trying to get over the devastating loss of her father, when she learns that Born vampires such as herself are being kidnapping and drained.
In addition to this, Dawn is not-so-successfully coping with her long-dead doppelganger torturing her thoughts...which only happens when Dawn is near the sexy Sebastian. But getting cozy with a guy is the least of her worries. Can Dawn find out who's behind the kidnappings before she becomes the next victim?
This book is quite a bit longer than the first one in the series, and for a while I wasn't sure where it was going. There are several different plot lines, and in the end they all come together. When I finished it, I just sat there going, "HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP!" I know, very eloquent.
~SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T READ REVAMPED!~
Dawn isn't exactly at her butt-kicking best in this book. She's dealing with some serious demons, grief, and kind of thinks she's going crazy. You can't blame her--since she found out she's the clone of the daughter her father lost over 120 years ago, she's been struggling with real feelings of being second best, and identity crisis. But I still adore her, even though she's stubborn and refuses to let anyone help her when she needs it most!
Sebastian is back in all his sexy glory. When Dawn and Sebastian are on the pages together, you can feel the heat smoldering out of the book. I love them together, and it drove me crazy, what they had to go through during the course of these events. I hoping things end up happily for them!
While reading, I started thinking this book was reminding me of other books...which I didn't experience at all while reading ReVamped; I thought it was wholly original. Now this may be a problem for some, but it wasn't for me, because the things I was reminded of are things I enjoy.
Sebastian's long-lost brother Razor (DO NOT LIKE that name, ugh) swoops in and flirts shamelessly with Dawn while Sebastian broods, giving the story some Vampire Diaries-style flair. Also, suddenly: werewolves! And the meeting at the gazebo strung with lights screamed Twilight. Like I said, things I like, but felt were kind of repetitive in the YA world.
The book was long but definitely not short on action. Add in a hot romance, some double crosses, twists you never see coming, and humor, and you have one hell of a book that leaves you catching your breath. I will be first in line to read part three!!
Picking up two weeks after the conclusion of ReVamped, ReAwakened begins with the Misfits being officially named the guardians of Angel Creek. During the celebration, Sebastian appears with news of Born vampires being kidnapped from nearby areas and warns Dawn to stay safe. Of course, being the determined and caring individual that she is, Dawn wants to help bring back the missing vampires, even at the price of her own safety.
I loved being back in Angel Creek with all of the Misfits. We definitely get to see more of their personalities, and they each became even more distinct and loveable this time around. The author does a great job of developing their unique personalities without them becoming caricatures. We get to know Brooke and Hunter more than the others though. They're no longer just the bubbly cheerleader and the ex-junkie. I really enjoyed the peak into their pasts, even if they're not exactly pleasant. There's also someone new in town, Razor, and I adore him already! He's hilarious, but knows when to be serious. If Sebastian wasn't in the picture, I'd want Dawn to go for him! He's an excellent addition to the Angel Creek cast.
The author has seriously raised the stakes in this one! Not only are vampires disappearing, but someone from the past is trying to make a reappearance. Dawn doesn't know what to do about about these moments when Aurora makes an appearance. It seems to happen when she's with Sebastian. Those two have some intense unresolved sexual tension, and Aurora keeps ruining the moment. Dawn thinks she might be going crazy, but what's really going on there. Well, you'll just have to read and find out, because it's a doozy! I was like, "OMG! No way!" Then furiously flew through the rest of the book!
In addition to new characters and more romance, there's also non-stop action! It seems like Dawn and the Misfits can't go anywhere without facing an ambush. And there's more gore, which I was surprised at. One scene near the end was highly disturbing. Compared to the first book, everything in ReAwakened is just MORE! That ending...OMG...WTF...I cried. Where's the next book?!
Each of the misfit's stories are just raw and heart breaking. Every single one of the characters had such emotional back stories that I couldn't help but feel proud that being part of the guardians makes them feel like they finally belong. That they get to right the wrongs. So much fire and passion between the characters, I couldn't help but love it! And you know me..Paranormal books have been written to death, but there's just something about this series that just makes me want to keep reading and reading and reading.
So much action, romance and mystery, that I couldn't stop reading. I read this in two sittings and at 400+ pages it's such an intense read! I loved it. The storyline, the characters, the flow, it was all written so well I can't wait for the next installment. I'm normally not a paranormal romance fan (because there's just so much), but this one had more than just romance. It had action. SO MUCH ACTION. <3
Overall, Ada writes with a skill that mimics a horror novel with a romance twist and I cannot wait what else she has in store for our beloved characters.

“He trailed tender kisses along the side of my neck, down my clavicle, then back up toward my jaw. His lips grew more fierce and his kisses deepened as his mouth finally found mine.” (187)
Angel Creek series is just about one of the most perfectly written Paranormal YA series that on the market today. I read a lot of books in this genre and I have to say that Ada Adams’ books top the list. Her books are must haves and ones you will enjoy again and again.
ReAwakened is a wonderful installment to this YA Paranormal series. This is a very unique vampire series that just keeps getting better and better. Very adventure packed with just the right amount of romance and mystery this sequel picks right up where the first book ended.
The characters are awesome with Dawn being my absolute favorite. You really see growth in her character and yet she isn’t perfect and doesn’t always do the things I think she would. She surprises me a lot and I love that about her.
Oh and the cliffhanger ending! Why must it end like this! Sigh, I know it only makes me even more desperate to see what the next book in this series holds in store…
I was lucky to get an early copy of this and loved it. Ada weaves a fun and entertaining story. I described it to her as a Vampire Super-hero story. Not sure if it fits or not, but that's the way I see it. :D
So much fun and I can't wait to read the final version. If you liked ReVamped, you'll like this one even better.
ReAwakened is the story of Dawn, a Born Vampire that is living in a society, where vampires have been assimilated into society, and in some situations revered and sought as celebrity figures. Vampires have also been contracted as Guardians for the various townships, such as in Angel Creek, Dawn and her team, were placed as Guardians, after the Fab Five had went off to Hollywood to pursue stardom.
The first book ReVamped, showed a young Dawn, beloved and protected, almost overly much by her father, then she was sent to Angel Creek, where her assignment was to bring together, and train a group, that can only be described as misfits. The first book showed how they were coming to the realization that their normal existence, had changed and that they now were connected.
In ReAwakened, it has gone one step farther in that not only has the team discovered that their lives had changed and that they were in one another lives whether they liked it or not; but that they were a real team and in some ways a family.
In ReAwakened, the past Dawn discovered in the previous book, is fully present and out to destroy Dawn and all those she loves. I really cannot go into full details, without spoiling the plot for you. So I will also say, that Sebastian from the first book is back, and feelings have blossomed and is tried and tested time and time again in ReAwakened! And really, there is no guarantee that this newfound love will survive.
Okay, every time I do a review, I wonder how can I say this and that. I mean there is just so many times that you can say awesome, wonderful, fantastic..etc.. and at times, those words, even though accurate and fitting, may not be strong enough to say what you really want to express…
So I will say it like this….
Author Ada Adams can write!!!
I am floored. I literally have just put the book down, so you know how it is when you have just finished reading a book, and that story is still…surrounding you…over you…
Well, there you have it…this book drew me in so forcefully and completely, that its hard for me to even express how truly good this book is. I LOVED it and yet, that isn’t good enough.
So I will say, that Ms. Adams, pacing, drew me in and kept me fully engaged, not jarring me of the story by long drawn out, misplaced description or narrative that happens at times in books that interrupts the flow of the story.
No, she grabs your attention and keeps you on a journey that keeps a full and firm grasp on the reader all the way through. Even during the novels more restful points, where the characters are allowed to catch their breaths, because really no story can keep you at the top of the roller coaster the entire time, it shouldn’t, there should be times of stepping back, but the danger in stepping back is in losing the reader.
But Ms. Adams, does not, she has the perfect give and take, and I tell you, the way she takes the reader on so many emotional twists and turns in this story, from points of danger and action packed fight scenes, to passion, to intense hatred towards some of the characters and events then to joy at others is incredible!
I loved how she describes the scenes, and almost makes the reader, I do not how to say it, “Feel” what is happening in the story. Especially in the scenes with Dawn and Sebastian, their passion for one another was almost palpable. I felt like one more scene(although it was kept very PG13), I would combust from the just emotions, and back and forth between the two.
I also enjoyed the addition of Razor, this was Sebastian’s brother who he had mistakenly killed years before, and harbored that guilt for centuries.Just to find out that Razor had been saved and turned Vampire. But there was such an honesty and devotion between the two i enjoyed seeing. But I feel the brotherly devotion, might be possibly tested in the future, I am sensing some Razor crushing coming into play for Dawn. So yeah, that will add some rockiness to a very rocky situation. Razor is as handsome as his brother, which gives female readers a boon, since the other incredible hot guy is most certainly taken and has eyes only for Dawn:)
This book is a must read, and I am ready for the third book now! So hopefully Ms. Adams will see this very humble review, peruse it, and hopefully get if nothing else, a glimpse at how much I enjoyed ReAwakened. Then I do not wish her to stay over long, because she really needs to get busy getting her next book out to her hooked, and tortured readers!
(Especially with that ending)…which by the way, was so heinous to us, who had just gotten off that roller coaster ride!…Ms. Adams and all those who have read, know exactly what I mean:O)
This review does not fully give the picture of how great this story is, because if I divulge any plot-points well, then it will mess up the reading, because the book is filled with twists… I will say that the team is out to stop whoever is taking Born Vampires, draining them for their blood.
Yet, that simple story point, does not reflect how WELL Ms. Adams really carried the story through…so, you will have to find out for yourself:)
With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—or something—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.
Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.
Let me start off by saying that I love this cover .Ada Adams is a new author to me and I have to say that I really loved the first and second book.
The story involves vampires and humans coexisting together. In this story the vampires are known to the humans some in favor of there existence and other who are not.
This story picks up where that last one left off. Omg ! What a page turner this one was.So much going on so many changes the story kept going in a new direction which kept always changing. This time the Born (meaning born a vampire not made a vampire ) like Dawn are being Captured and Drained !
This time around this story I felt anyway had more that one plot going even though the plots were connected there were two different agenda's for the parties involved. We get to see more of Razor Sebastian's brother in this story who becomes more involved with the other character's.
My favorite character this time around is Razor.I just loved Razor's character I found him to be a lot of fun and a out going character. He was constantly teasing Dawn throughout this story which was a good thing because he was trying to get her to loosen up and not be so serious all the time and constantly worrying about everything and everybody. She was missing out on life by taking everything so seriously. He was trying to show her how to stop and enjoy life of only for a tiny bit.Which I think he did a very great job at even with all the danger that surrounded them all.Razor also is working on strengthening his relationship with his brother after being separated for so many years.
Sebastian actually made his brother (Razor) a vampire but, not intentionally . When Sebastian was newly turned he turned to his brother for help and with Razor not believing his bothers rantings he ended up draining him dry and leaving him for dead.
Sebastian thought he had killed his brother until he meets his brother centuries later.Razor has forgiven his brother thinking he should have listened more him being a Doctor he should have been a little more opened minded.Razor carries a lot of guilt for thinking he is the one who let his own brother down not the other way around. They both need to forgive themselves. Razor works really hard at making his brother forgive himself as he holds no remorse for what was done to him.Razor grows closer to both Dawn and his brother but also with all the other misfits known as the Guardians.
We saw the characters grow even more this time around.Even though they may not truly like one another they all have this unshakeable bond between them all.Not only that they would give there lives for Dawn but for one another. The little family of Guardians are making a name for themselves slowly.A formidable foe...
You will love this read its just filled with fun characters so many twists and turns and a outcome that you will never see coming. And OMG what a cliffhanger at the very end ! So much is happening that you will be glued to the pages. So many secrets coming to light with the pieces all starting to falling into place. All the characters have truly grown but, I think Dawn grew the most of all with the help of others. The plot thickens!
Another amazing read just loved it.Looking forward to the next book in the series.A great Young Adult Paranormal Romance read.Recommended to all !
Holy talent Batman. Ada Adams has done it yet again! ReAwakened was every bit the awesome action packed page turner that ReVamped was. Actually if possible I liked this one a little more... Not really sure if that is possible though. This is one series that I'm not quite sure why it's not on shelves of every bookstore out there. It's the type of book you pick up and don't put down until you have turned the very last page.
The story in this one is just a quick paced and fun to read as the first. You are taken back to Angel Creek with Dawn and her awesome group of misfits but things are changing. The group is supposed to become the towns protectors but things just go horribly wrong. The team seems to be put in an impossible situation in which they are made out to be less than they really are. Fear not though Dawn is determined to keep spirits up and get to the bottom of everything. Everything being all of the Borns that are being abducted and never returning. Scary considering Dawn is one but as always she is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those around her, even if it does mean putting herself in danger.
Dawn is such an awesome character. I have a serious girl crush on her. She is all around kick ass but when it comes down to it she is still just a girl. I was going to say human but she is far from human. I really enjoyed the growth in her throughout this book. Actually truth be told Dawn is one character that I can say with certainty is always growing. I love that I don't have you scream and pull my hair out because she is constantly making the same mistakes. Not saying that she is perfect because she is far from perfect but she learns from her mistakes and tries not to make the same one twice. Though sometimes her heart takes over her head, I think that I love her more for it. You know sometimes when a character is just too perfect you're like "Um... Where can I relate?" Dawn doesn't have that feel. Though her flaws are not abundant she has them and they are what make her so easy to love and relate to.
Now normally I would go into the relationship part of the book here. However there are far too many awesome characters that I feel would be left out by me doing this. Like Hunter. If you read book one (ReVamped) I know you are thing WTF?! But Hunter is all different now and actually in his first appearance in this book my jaw may have dropped just a little. He is so much more than he was in book one and we get a look at his past. It's not all rainbows and butterflies and you kind of get why he was the way he was. Though he is no longer that person either. There is also so much growth in Brooke, Sophie and Seth. My gosh I love the banter that goes on between Sophie and Seth. The make the cutest non-couple, couple. And Sophie is becoming more than he stand back librarian self. She is becoming someone that can stand up for herself but she also really stands up for her team and does what is necessary to help them. Overall the entire band of misfits has become oh so much more. I am seriously routing for Hunter though!
Now the romance... I am at a loss for words really, this is not easy to explain at all. In the start of the book I wanted to punch Sebastian. Oh ya, I wanted to haul off and tell him how unbelievably stupid he was. With the undeniable attraction between him and Dawn, I just couldn't understand his actions. I don't think Dawn understood either but even through her hurt her affection never changed. Even when Razor (the hot new guy) steps on the scene. Truth be told Razor never even had a chance because of how Dawn feels for Sebastian but he does make for some awesome verbal wars. If you fear the dreaded love triangle than you can pick up ReAwakened worry free. Despite the addition the romance remains between Dawn and Sebastian.
Truth be told I am unsure if I love this book or ReVamped better. The are both chalk full of awesome and are undeniably a must read! Even if you aren't a huge fan of Vamps you may want to give this one a try. With such witty and fun dialogue it's hard not to love. Then you can actually top that with the fact it is masterfully written and a fun read. Ada Adams is brilliant and I can't wait to see what happens next!! Literally, the ending KILLED ME a little on the inside.
WOW! There are literally no words to explain just how phenomenal this book is. There is no way I thought that ReAwakened would beat ReVamped but I was completely proved wrong. Right from the first page I was sucked back into this incredible vampiric world and I couldn't put it down until I had finished the book and I was left reeling dying for more.
Dawn and the gang have finally become the Guardians of Angel Creek. After the danger and trouble they went through to get to this point they are looking forward to just having a relaxing time. But things are never easy in Angel Creek. When Born Vampires start mysteriously disappearing Dawn will do anything to find out what is happening and is determined to help in any way that she can. But will she be able to help without risking the life of hers and her teams?
I was completely and utterly sucked into this book and I just couldn't put it down. When I read the first book in this series, ReVamped, I was completely shocked and surprised. After reading a lot of vampire books I was getting a little bored with them but I just couldn't help but love this unique world that Ada had created and I just love her writing style. ReAwakened was no different. It ws just as obsessive and addictive and I just didn't care what I had to do I refused to put the book down until I was done. I just adore these characters and I couldn't possibly stop reading until I found out what was going to happen to them.
Dawn is such an amazing character. I love her, she is strong and tough and just a genuinelly amazing kick-ass character. Saying that she needed a good damn shake in this book. As much as I love her she really annoyed me a little with the keeping secrets from Sebastian. I just wanted to reach into the book and give her a shake and tell her to just tell him! I understand why she did it but it still irritated the life out of me. I do think that Dawn grew a lot as a character and that she is a stronger more confident person by the end of ReAwakened. I cannot wait to read book 3 in the series and wait to see what happens with Dawn next.
Sebastian... Oh My Lord *insert dreamy sigh here* I just love him. He is hot... and I mean HAWT!!! and he is so sweet and protective and there is nothing this guy could do that I would not find completely and utterly swoonworthy. Every Seb scene my insides just melt into a puddle! I just adore him! What I also really loved is that we saw a lot more of Hunter and I just love him. We found out so much more about Hunter and he totally made me melt and I just adore him. We were also introducted to new character Razor and I love him. He is cheeky and a total bad boy! I think every girl will fall head over heels in love with Razor and I cannot wait to read more about him.
This book is full of so many twists and turns that will leave you gasping, unable to believe what the hell just happened. I just could not put this book down. It was phenomenal and I am left completely gobsmacked and reeling. I just need book 3 right now. I MUST find out what happens next. ReAwakened completely surpassed all my expectations and more. I was just shocked and surprised in an incredibly good way. If you want a book full of suspense, action and a dash of romance this series is not to be missed out on! A must-read.
I still remember when I read the first installment to author Ada Adams’, Angel Creek series. The first novel, ReVamped, was seriously awesome. I constantly compared it to The Avengers because of the uniting of vampires with certain skills and traits that help fuse together a group of vampire guardians who will watch over the town of Angel Creek. I’ll admit, ReVamped was great, but I felt that there had always been room for more. When I started to read ReAwakened I learned one thing from the first, maybe four chapters:
Everything there had been room for…
Just…
… Happened!
If you haven’t read the first book (what are you doing here?), turn back now! Potential spoilers up ahead! ReAwakened takes place right after the events in ReVamped, the general population hasn’t been attacked by deadly vampire forces and main character Dawn is officially mourning the death of her father a.k.a. the vampire president. With a new president in charge, Dawn has been doubting him and ironically, everybody seems to be doubting her and her team. It isn’t until groups of rogue vampires show up and begin to slaughter vampires, more specifically Born vampires, that Dawn realizes that her and her team might have something a lot worse than what they encountered in the first novel.
To make things a bit more heightened, Dawn saves the angsty and brooding Sebastian by giving him some of her blood. According to Razor, a.k.a. Sebastian’s brother (Your thoughts: Whaaaat?!) because of their sharing blood and Aurora having made Sebastian, Dawn and Sebastian will be riding the Lusty Train that is heading straight for Let’s Make Some Babies town. But hey—won’t it be more fun to see Dawn and Sebastian you know, actually act like a couple or almost lovers in this novel? We only got a taste of that in ReVamped.
I personally found that ReAwakened was way better than the novel before it. Where I had wanted action from ReVamped I got it threefold in ReAwakened. Where I wanted romance (Bam! You guessed it) the same thing happened. Every single chapter seemed to top the one before it based on either content or character development. I felt like in ReAwakened, I got a better feel for the characters, that they grew to be more three dimensional and we got more back stories. I. Love. Back stories.
The one new thing that readers might find interesting from ReAwakened is the new secret ability that all Born vampires have; Fortas. Apparently they all have them, and it turns them into X-men type vampires. One of them appearing in the novel can play with fire, quite literally. And surprise surprise, Dawn has one… but that means that Aurora has one too and from that I’ve seen in the novel, she might not be as dead we were lead to believe.
It seems that in ReAwakened nobody is safe. I got way more badass villains, more plot twists and an evil plan that our main character may not be able to stop. The only issue I had: Monologuing! The one trait that all villains seem to share, but hey, in the end, I have to admit that I didn’t really care all that much. Why? Because the ending left me speechless and on the brink of tears.
I would recommend ReAwakened to fans of the previous novel and would recommend this series to readers who enjoy vampires and plots with twists and turns. So excited for a sequel!!!
What do you call a book that has a bit of everything? I call it a book by Ada Adams. If someone knows how to write a better book than ReVamped, it's her. Not that ReVamped didn't rock, it totally did. But ReAwakened is something else entirely. We get to see more of the Misfits, the mysterious Razor and discover more things about Dawn's past. Not to forget the hot Dawn and Sebastian kissing scenes which were somewhat frustrating because it wasn't really like they were a couple. Or are they? Ha ha.
First off, I really like the growth in Dawn's character. At the beginning of the book, she's sorting out her feelings and grieving the recent tragic events of ReVamped. But the town of Angel Creek has a habit of attracting trouble and Dawn always has the urge to fight it. I love how her mind works. She is not a damsel in distress in need of a savior. Dawn is big on self-reliance and it is so good to see her in action. Two books in and I haven't found a single bad thing about her. She shines through the darkest of times, is easily annoyed which is adorable and has the best of comebacks ever.
It's not easy being the vampire who harbors such a deep attraction towards Sebastian when there are sinister forces at work trying to mess with Dawn's head. But ever the brave, Dawn is not ready to succumb to the power trying to take over. Unable to confide in anyone, Dawn tries to get back to a normal life. That turns out to be hard when her feelings are all jumbled up and pain seems to be seeping through the dark corners of her mind.
Sebastian has his own past to deal with and with a sudden danger looming, he disappears leaving no trace behind. Dawn is left with no choice but to engage the Misfits in training harder than ever before. The Misfits have also gone through a change especially Hunter. There are vivid action sequences in ReAwakened which really brings out the fighter in each of the Misfits. Brooke tries to change her perspective on life while Seth is finally accepting himself as a vampire. Sophie goes through a big change due to a revelation which totally shocked me. We also get to see a different side of Hunter and his story which was absolutely engrossing. Ethan has his hands full with looking after his mother but we do get to see him and his jovial nature.
ReAwakened has characters who stir something inside of you and their different ways of dealing with pain gets to you. I can't even begin to describe all the laughs I had reading scenes that had Razor in them. Razor is truly a world apart and a great addition to the series. There are also characters that return, villains that are more evil and a lot of suspense that will engage the reader entirely.
Every chapter seemed to be building up to something big and boy, did that deliver! I like my books to be unpredictable and there were things that had me jumping up and down and others that left my mouth hanging. The ending of ReAwakened really opened up a whole new range of possibilities. It's not exactly a fairy tale ending but I would just say that it fits perfectly well with the theme of the book. I don't like the waiting part for books in series but with ReAwakened I got to say, it was totally worth the wait.
Ada Adams does not disappoint - she really knows how to deliver a sequel!
More action, mystery, vampires, drama, romance and, of course, vampires! Yes, there is a lot going on, but Ada Adams knows how to swiftly take you through Dawn's journey without any confusion and without leaving anything out or behind - her writing is the perfect combination of everything you want - the pacing is brilliant, enough details to create the perfect scenarios with a bit of a mystery to let you picture this world in your own mind. I love when a sequel picks up immediately after the first book left off, no moments where spared...
In ReAwakened, Dawn and her Misfits are back in Angel Creek and have now been inducted as Angel Creek's official guardians. But before the festivities can finish, Dawn finds out that there are Born vampires being kidnapped by rogue vampires and mutant werewolves. And even worse, someone is definitely after Dawn too. And the plot just gets thicker and thicker... We get to see Dawn grow and learn more about herself. Not only in her own relationships and who she is right now, and who she is becoming, but also, the extent of her powers and what she is capable of. She's still the kick-ass confident teen who cares deeply and will do anything to protect everyone, but now, she's even better and stronger than before. We also get to see her relationship with Sebastian bloom a bit more. Sebastian... well, he is now even more handsome, mysterious and alluring...
I really enjoyed seeing some of the other characters grow more and come into their own - we get to hear a lot more about Hunter, which I loved seeing. In ReVamped, Hunter was full of mystery and sorrow and I ached to know more about him and his story. We also see more of Brooke and Seth's relationship, so funny and sweet. And we also meet Razor. His name alone cracks me up! He is quite the comical character and ice-breaker, sarcastic and witty. I really do love when a character is so well rounded and believable. And Razor, even with his stripper-boy-like name, does have a serious side that he lets us see, a more vulnerable and deeper side to him, which made him even more likable... who is Razor and how does he fit into the story? Can't tell you, too many things would spoil it for you! We also meet Lena, another spoilery character, so I won't get into too many details about her. I didn't like her much in the beginning, but she grew on me and really does have a role in most things that happen to Dawn this time around. She is definitely one to keep your eye on.
And, I have to warn you, the is a huge cliffhanger to this one! I almost died - but, it has to be the most cleverest one I have read in a very long time. Yes, it annoyed me to be left hanging like this, but, oh my, it is going to be so worth waiting for book 3!
Overall, this has to be one of the best sequels I have read in 2012. Ada Adams had definitely grown as a writer and I cannot wait to not only continue following Angel Creek's series, but also, whatever else she may right in the future. I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves vampires, especially those who miss and love True Blood - but remember, this is a YA type of it!
Dawn and her team have completed their first mission. But the casualties of that mission still haunt Dawn. The team tries to pull her out of it, but to no avail. Then she learns that Born vampires are going missing and that no one seems to be doing anything about it. And when Sebastian goes missing, Dawn takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of the missing Born. Only she discovers something a lot more sinister is going on and that someone wants her.
In ReAwakened Dawn's team of misfits is thrown into a mission that will put all their lives in danger. Because something sinister is hunting Dawn and will do anything to get their hands on her, even if it means torturing and killing everyone she cares about. This time around Dawn's team is a little more prepared for what they are about to face and are finally starting to look and act like true guardians of Angel Creek.
Each member of the team has shown significant growth since they were first found by Dawn, with each of them finding what they are good at and developing it so that they can form a stronger team. And as Dawn mourns for her loss the team does a great job holding things together and trying to help her pick up the pieces. They are ready to charge into battle to protect each other and their town.
Of course I love all the characters in this series, with Sebastian being my favorite, but along with a new mission comes a new character, and I have to say that I am loving the addition of Razor to the story. Razor is dangerous, carefree, fun, suave and sexy as hell, and the best part is.....he's Sebastian's brother! Eep! There are two incredibly sexy as hell vampires in Angel Creek. I think I just died and went to heaven. They are the perfect pair. Where Sebastian is debonair, Razor is snarky. Where Sebastian is conservative, Razor is brash. They are like yin and yang, light and dark and all kinds of deliciousness. The addition of Razor was a great move on author Ada Adams part and I really can't wait to see where she takes it next.
I love Dawn too. I mean who doesn't love a strong female character that can kick your butt up one side of the mountain and down the other. Dawn is strong, loyal, caring, and one heck of a leader. She will do anything for those she has sworn to protect, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.
Besides having incredibly sexy characters, Ada Adams gives us an incredible story that sinks it's fangs in you the minute you pick it up. ReAwakened really brings us everything you can possibly want from a vampire story: great action, danger, suspense, humor, mystery, love, and of course awesome vamps.
ReAwakened gives us new villains to hate, new people to like or dislike and takes us on one heck of a twisty ride, delivering shock after shock! And let me warn you now, the ending will literally make you stop breathing, cry uncontrollably and stare at your kindle like it just grew a head. Now don't say I didn't warn you. Shocking ending aside, ReAwakened is a must read, and if you are a fan of The Vampire Diaries then you have to start this story.
Wow! I really liked ReVamped but Ada managed to come back with ReAwakened and make me love it and love all of the characters even more, which I didn't even think was possible! It's everything ReVamped was and so much more. More action, more romance, and a lot more feels. It's not that I don't like long books or that I like shorter books more, I love all books, but for a 540 page book it kept me captivated and invested the entire time which is hard to do. ReAwakened was packed with twists and turns and I couldn't put it down, I had to force myself to because I had school. Damn it all, I would have preferred to read this all at once but nonetheless I still loved it. I really enjoyed how there were several elements and surprises twisted into the plot, Ada managed to make it intriguing and anticipating without confusing me as a reader which I really appreciate.
Dawn, Razor, Sebastian and The Misfits are so kick ass, it's ridiculous! Throughout ReAwakened we get to learn more about all of them and see how they have all come to care about each other. Sophia finds her voice, Seth is able to be himself (although he hasn't outed himself to his parents yet), Hunter goes through a bit of a dark time but he doesn't succumb to his old ways (I was so proud of my baby!), Brooke finds the courage to tell her story and overcome some of her childish ways, Dawn learns a lot about how she came to be in this book and grows just like her partners, Razor becomes closer to Dawn and works on his relationship with 'Seb' his brother while bringing his humor and a bit of lightness to the book which was needed, and Sebastian finds a way to express how he feels without going psycho rage vampire and shutting down. I'm so proud of all of these characters because they grew so much in this book and I really enjoyed watching them all become individuals while also coming together as a team when they had to deal with the craziness of their lives as guardians.
Lately it seems I've read a ton of books that have those cliffhanger endings you hate to love and love to hate. Those endings where you just sit there and stare at the words while mumbling 'Oh my gosh, what just happened' countless times and then you spaz out and get mad at the author and then you love it so much you just want to high five them in the face because you love it but you hate. Do you know what I mean? Well ReAwakened had one of those endings and it was so awesome and so evil all at once! I can not believe Ada did that to me but it made the book soooo good! I have no clue when ReBorn is coming out, the third book in the series, but I want it now because I'm so invested in these characters and this story that I literally need to know what happens to them all. I highly recommend ReVamped and ReAwakened to those who are looking for a breath of fresh air when it comes to the vampire genre and those who love action packed books with a hint of romance.
This review should be easy, right? All I want to say is "THIS BOOK IS AMAZING, YOU SHOULD READ IT" but, the books you love the most, are always the hardest reviews to write. I really just want to write a bunch of OMGs, and swoons, and loves.....but here goes trying to write an intelligent review that makes sense!
I was so excited to be able to dive back into the Angel Creek series. I absolutely loved ReVamped. Everything about it was wonderful and it was easily one of my favorite books of the year. Now, only a few months later, ReAwakened is also on the top of that list. Ada Adams is truly a fantastic author! This story has one of the most original vampire plots out there, the characters can seriously be my best friends, and the writing is fast paced and kept me interested the entire time.
The book starts out a little while after the events that went down in ReVamped. Dawn is still dealing with everything that had happened, and boy, did a lot to happen. What I love about Dawn is how strong she is. She doesn't let her emotions hold her back. Even while dealing with her own crap, she was always there for her friends, no matter what their problem was.
My absolute favorite part of ReAwakened was learning about the backgrounds of the characters, especially Hunter. All we ever knew about him was that he was a druggie guitarist whose band was about to become nation wide famous before turning into a vampire. He was a loner, who usually stayed quiet when around everyone, but in ReAwakened he finally opened up about his past and it explained so much about his character. I am whole-heartedly a Hunter girl now!
We are also introduced to some new vampires, including Razor, who happens to have a very interesting connection to Sebastian. I loved Razor. He's gorgeous, sweet, and a doctor!! Can't get much better then that! And I love how much he made fun of Sebastian for being emo and moody.
This entire story was about character development, especially comparing these characters to how they were in the first book. I love the direction that every single character is going, well except Sebastian's character.....but I won't give anything away, and if you read the book you know EXACTLY what I am talking about.
As much as I loved all of the characters, I really missed Ethan, like a lot. But I have been assured that he will be playing a big part in the third book!
There is a lot happening in ReAwakened, but it never became to much to handle. Adams has a talent for incorporating many story lines effortlessly and seamlessly. Everything worked perfectly together and I seriously loved every single minute of this story.
I HIGHLY recommend this series. I recommend this story to YA lovers, New Adult lovers, vampire lovers, adults, old people, teenagers, basically everyone! Go and get yourself a copy NOW, you won't regret it!
Why Why WHY!!!. The book was good longer than I thought it was going to be. That was a good I hate when books are too short. Anyway, in this book we see Dawn grow as a vampire. She gains the experience that by living in the Scarlet House she didn't have. After President Alistar's death the Team is announced to be the Guardian's of Angel Creek. During and After the ceremony the whole thing goes down hill. New characters are introduced like Lena a dazziling new vampire that shows up in Angel Creek after the ceremony. And Razor, that as in the expert baisically picks a fight with the wrong Girl, D.
Brooke: I love her she's so lively and such a girly girl. She tries throughout the whole book to primp Dawn up. Always trying to bring some pretty to the group. She is also described as not being as smart as Seth in her studies.
Seth: The techy guy of the group. The garlic cupcake loving vampire who is good with technology. Ada hinted to a secret relationship brewing between him and Brooke. Since he was turned by Brooke and his life was "ruined" by that their was some hostility in the beginning but it clears up in the end. I wonder what she has planned for them.
Sophie: Turned by her past best friend Charlotte, the poor book worm was put in the world of vampires. I consider myself more like her since she's a bookworm and if I were being trained by Dawn I would be able to kick ass too.
Hunter: The brooding guitarist turned vampire by some crazy vampire. He's also on the top of my favorites list in this book. You can't help falling in love with him. Thank God he wasn't a love intrest for Dawn or I would have not read the book because I would not have been able too choose. I also like the part he plays in this book. XD
Ethan: I liked him the Human in the mix, Ethan's mother was the scientist behind the birth of Dawn amongst other things. A partial love intrest, partial because he kind of falls out of the book when he goes away to spen time with his mother. He seems like a good mix in the batch in my head he's kind pf part of Team Misfits.
Razor: I can't divuldge a lot about him. I can say he is sexy and could possibly be a total sleeze ball if he wasn't so damn lovable.
Sebastian: I have no words to descibe him. Sexy body, curly dark hair, startaling silver eyes, and if you saw him smile it would probably melt your heart.
Why did it have to end like that. I went through the whole book saying yes we are going to have an okay ending I'm not going to be heartbroken. I was dissapointed I got to the last couple of pages and boom dead. Dead my hopes were dead. Why
This book begins two weeks after the ending of ReVamped, we start out seeing how Dawn deals with the falling out of everything that previously happened and it begins to take a toll on her. I really enjoy how Ada incorporates the new revelations into this story and yet she shocks you with even more information. Right from the beginning you can see that Adams is drawing her reader in to an thrill ride of a story, and she delivered one that was impossible to put down.
ReAwakened brings readers on a new adventure for Dawn and the group of misfit vampires where they are looking to find out the mystery of someone kidnapping Born vampires. This book was very action packed right from the beginning and I found myself looking around corners at every turn of this story. Every time I put this book down I continue thought about the story trying to figure out the mystery and found myself back reading it again 5 minutes later (shirking some housework I should have been doing).
ReVamped gave us insight into Dawn's life and her upbringing, and in ReAwakened we get a lot more background to the Misfits. I really enjoy the insight into why many of the characters act the way they do now that I know more about their lives and what brought them to where they are today. There was a lot of growth for all the characters in the first book and even more so throughout this book.
Aside from the Misfits there were so many other great secondary characters introduced in ReAwakened that I absolutely loved, the main one being Razor. He brought a lot of great humor to an intense story, and I loved the other side of Dawn that was brought out when he was around.
I loved that Adams gave us more information to Dawn's story as well and a huge twist that I never saw coming out of the book. With the Angel Creek series Adams has brought about a new idea to vampires and I find myself wanting more because everything is so much fun. As soon as I finished this book I actually had a conversation with Ada on Twitter because I needed to know that more would be coming soon. This book left me in so much pain that I actually couldn't even read anything else for awhile after (and that doesn't happen often for me)
Ada Adams is such an amazing storyteller and she really brings her own personality to her characters in her story. I love when an author puts themselves into their work, and I'm so happy to be a part of this tour and getting word out there about Ada's books. Everyone needs to go out and read these books just for a new twist on the paranormal.
I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.
Now here is one girl Brooke that must really love school or maybe just being prom queen is her #1 priority. Just think the only worry you have in life is being prom queen, awesome. But at the same time you feel real sad for her. But now poor Brooke is going to have to graduate because of the new law "No Vampire Left Behind" policy. Brooke can no longer keep repeating grades even if she will be seventeen forever.
Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, Seth and Dawn are all finally being initiated as guardians of Angel Creek. The residents of Angel Creek are being kind of rude saying they miss the Fab Five and that it is a good thing that Angel Creek doesn't actually need protecting. All towns or most of the towns have vampires as guardians to protect the humans from rogue vampires. Dawn was sent to Angel Creek to train these four vampires to be guardians. With this group of vampires, Dawn has had a lot of work training them. Now they are being made guardians and she still has a lot of work to do to turn them into someone that can actually protect the humans. Will she be able to turn them into guardians or will they always be misfits?
For the past three years vampires have been coming out of the coffin. They have a Vampire President and a Human President. Vampires and humans have been living openly with each other for a while now. You know humans can go to a coke machine and get a coke well now they have started making Blood Cola that vamps can get from a machine too. They also can get a Blood Vodka and other alcoholic drinks at bars or liquor stores. But I didn't read anything about a Blood Margarita. I'm sure they have them or at least I hope so. Well if I was a vampire I would love it.
Is President Twitbrook behind vampire blood-infused mutant werewolves and the disappearances of the born vampires? I don't know what it is that the Vampire President is hiding but he is hiding something. What is he hiding? Is he behind the disappearance of the born vampires? Is he being blackmailed?
Why are all the werewolves getting sick? A virus spread through the werewolves causing them all to get sick and die. A vampire came to them with a cure; the cure was drinking the blood of a born vampire. Is this the reason behind kidnapping all the born vampires?
I have never read a book about vampires quite like the Angel Creek Series. I loved the new twist on the vampires. I loved that you have made and born vampires. The Angel Creek Series is for anyone who like vampires and who would like a little something extra added to the life of a vampire.
ReAwakened was probably one of my favorite books of the year. It is full of romance, mystery, and action. There were twists in the plot that I never saw coming. Not all authors are able to do that. I love it when I can be surprised by a book. There are a few new characters that are introduced as well and I enjoyed reading about them. Well except for the new vampire president, he is a dud.
ReAwakened picked up not long after ReVamped ended. Dawn and her crew are in the process of healing but, Dawn has a few more thing going on. She is trying to grieve for her father and still has Aurora kicking around inside her head. Aurora seems to be very determined to not let Dawn and Sebastian be together. I loved this added twist to the story! We get to learn more born vampires and a thing called a forta. I'm not going to tell you what it is because it would be to spoilery. It was yet another awesome twist! Dawn grew as a character throughout this book. When the born vampires go missing Dawn feels especially connected. Being a born herself she takes on the task of finding them because no one else will help. Even the vampires have corrupt governments. I feel like Dawn always takes on so much to help others and doesn't really think about herself. She is a very selfless person. Even at the expense of her own life sometimes. One thing is for sure. She is a kick butt female who you don't want to make mad or mess with the people she loves. I still enjoyed the team of Hunter, Sophie, Brook, and Seth. We get to learn about Hunters life and why he is the way he is. His story made me teary. Brooks story is also kind of sad. "Misfits" definitely describes this group well.
There are some awesome new characters. Lena is actually pretty awesome. A born vampire from Sebastian's past. I didn't dislike her as much as I thought I would. I really really liked Razor. I hope we get to see more of him! He is a smart mouthed mystery man. He has no filter on his mouth, it's great. I love how he pokes fun at Dawn. I'm so glad he was added to the story. That's all I'm willing to say though. there are more characters too but, it would be to spoilery if I talked more about them. You will just have to read the book!
The plot flowed so well throughout the book. It was full of twists and turns to keep you very interested. It ends on a huge cliffhanger that has left me needing the next book! It was one of those ending that has you flipping your Kindle over looking for another page. I highly recommend this series!
OMG! I was so excited to read ReAwakened, Book 2 in the Angel Creek Series. It continues shortly after the first book in the series, ReVamped. ReVamped was my first official review so that made this even more exciting for me. Another chance to learn more about the Misfits and Dawn and Sebastian, who could turn that down? Ada Adams did an outstanding job writing this and I loved it even more than the first book. ReAwakened was a little darker than the first book, but I loved it all the more for it! The action started right away and continued throughout, never getting slow or dragging on. Born Vampires are going missing and everyone is pretending to know nothing about it. The President of the Vampires disbands the misfits claiming they failed to protect everyone during an attack on Scarlet House, in which Born Vampires were taken. But the Team won’t give up until they find out what is going on. The characters that Ada writes are amazing and this time around we get to watch Seth and Sophie grow a lot and we learn Brooke and Hunter’s backstories bringing them into a new light. I think I have a newfound crush on Hunter… Of course there is more of the Dawn and Sebastian that we all love, but there were a few points in which I wanted to smack them both. We are introduced to some new characters this time around too. Lena, who Sebastian grew into his vampire ways with, Charlotte and of course I could never forget Razor! *swoons* I loved Sebastian, but Dawn and him are meant to be together, So I’m jumping Razor…. Ummm… I mean… on the Razor bandwagon, yeah that’s what I meant. HEHE! I love watching Razor get under Dawn’s skin with his witty remarks and his constant flirting, plus he’s cute, hilarious, loveable, and always there when you need him.
ReAwakened threw my emotions for a loop. Crying, Laughing, yelling at the characters, and cheering them on all multiple times within these pages. There were so many twists and turns, I kept thinking I had it all figured out and then boom something proved me wrong, and I was guessing again never fully getting it right until the end. That makes an awesome book! I was ecstatic with how the ending was going and then WAM!!! *sobs* HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME ADA!!!!! I hope you can write fast, because I NEED the third book like last week! Ok well I guess don’t rush it to much because I want it to be as awesomesauce as ReAwakened was, if that’s even possible! This is a definite must read for everyone!!
Welcome back to Angel Creek! ReAwakened picks up shortly after the first book ReVamped ended. Dawn our feisty heroine of the series has settled into life in Angel Creek and has even managed to wrangle her group of misfit vamps into proper Guardians. Yup, life is pretty good at the moment for Dawn. Course there would be no book if everything stayed all fine and dandy and very quickly events take a turn for the worse. Now with someone hunting the Born vampires and a conspiracy to keep things hidden from the recently elected President, Dawn must fight not only to save her life but those she's come to cherish as well.
My first thoughts when I finished this book was OMG that ending!! Then I muttered a whole bunch of profanities which I don't really think you care to read about. But I'll get to the ending a bit later on.
I wasn't sure what to expect after the end of ReVamped. What direction would Dawn go in? Would she become some bad ass Vampire heroine bent on world domination or a girl unsure of her place in life after the death of her father? Would some new threat arise? Would Dawn explore exactly what it means to be a born? To my surprise ReAwakened covered all the bases. Lots of questions I had after ReVamped were answered and my fears of the series taking a turn into Twilight territory were quickly expunged.
ReAwakened was quite a bit longer than ReVamped but I hardly noticed because of how sucked in I was. There is something for everyone in this series Action, Humor, Drama, Romance, Peril and lots of twists and turns that will leave even the most jaded vampire fan wanting more.
Now I did have one small gripe about this book and that was the end. While the scene was beautifully written it was cruel to leave Dawn and us readers with such a cliffhanger! I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I was hoping for something else entirely and then wham no happy ending for you. What happens exactly? No spoilers here you'll just have to read the book and find out.
Overall this was an excellent followup that has left me wanting more. If ever a series needed to become a movie it'd be this one. The story would fit the big screen perfectly and I'm not gonna lie I wouldn't mind having a "real life" Sebastian to ogle onscreen. I am highly recommending you pick up ReAwakened and give it a go. If you haven't started the series yet then you best get on it. The Angel Creek series is just that good. In the end I will be rating ReAwakened ★★★★★. Worth a read, worth your time and definitely worthy your money.
Ada Adams has done it again! I never thought that it would be possible to WOW me in a sequel like this, but boy did she ever?!! From the very first page I could not put down this book, and I was very anxious to follow Dawn and the Misfits on another journey. Ada has a way of grabbing readers and allowing them to never lose hold. She takes you on a fast-paced journey throughout every page, but she also knows how to slow readers down and allow them to enjoy Dawn’s scenery. I couldn’t ask for a better sequel and I am so happy to give this book 5 big, pink cupcakes!
Ada gives you action and tons of adventure. This is no understatement, and the best part about it is that the action is one you will never get lost in. Her writing is so clear and concise and you always know which characters are doing what. Even is Seth does try to kill a massive werewolf with a spatula! And Dawn is just such a kick-butt heroine on top of it all. Her lethal combat and weaponry skills only improve in this book, and I just cannot get enough of the confidence that she carries around. I never get tired of Dawn and I am definitely rooting for her 100% while reading. This book is a bit different as far as her love life goes, and all I can say is, hang on tight!!
I absolutely love the world that Ada has created in this series, and it only gets better from here. I love her invention of Blood Cola, Blood Vodka, etc. This type of added detail only makes things more realistic for me while reading. Dawn is at times a serious character and the conflict that they face is more times than not fatal and deadly, so having small details attached to their world can help to make the reading a little more light and enjoyable. Combat is great, especially to read about Dawn in combat, but it is nice at times to feel a connection to the setting and characters who are among other things, vampires! I often wonder if we could assimilate into a world where vampires walk around freely, and then I just come to the conclusion that we should probably just leave that to Dawn and her gang of Misfits.
I love the gang of Misfits and besides Dawn, they are probably my favorite part of this book. Their stories continue to develop in this book as well. I highly recommend any lovers of young adult fiction or vampiric worlds to pick up this series! You will not regret it.
***A Kindle copy of this book was given to me in exchange for participating in this blog tour and my honest review***
