Genre: Contemporary Western Erotic Romance Series: Cowboy Justice Association FULL LENGTH NOVEL
You can’t go home again, but if you do, pretend you want to be there.
Dr. Madison Shay has left Chicago and moved back to her small town roots to take over her father’s medical practice. She’s not the skinny, gawky red haired, four-eyed girl any longer but it sure feels that way. She still remembers the painful teasing from her classmates and always feeling like she didn’t belong. She wants this time to be different but deep down she knows she’ll never be part of the cool crowd.
Sheriff Tanner Marks might have been the captain of the football team years ago but things aren’t as rosy now. He has a son who hates him, and an ex-wife who is about to marry a man Tanner thinks might be a criminal. He doesn’t really have time in his life for a woman. Considering the things he’s done in his past, he’s not sure he deserves one either. He can’t help but feel envious of his friend, Seth Reilly, though. He found the love of a good woman. Is it too much to ask that fate send him someone as well?
Madison and Tanner aren’t looking for love but it feels like the town has other plans. They keep finding themselves thrown together and it’s not unpleasant in the least. In fact, they’re starting to enjoy themselves. There just might be a future for them after all.
When a drug war between two cartels breaks out, their little town is caught in the crossfire. Tanner will call in every favor he can, from the five cowboy cops he trusts most in the world, to keep his town and the woman he loves safe. He’s going to show the bad guys what cowboy justice really means.
Publisher’s warning: This book contains hot sex scenes between a sexy small town sheriff and his very lucky woman, including action in the shower, on the kitchen table, and in front of a roaring fire.

My Thoughts Safety Gang: Loved this book. I absolutely fell in love with Madison and Tanner. Tanner was gruff, not an asshole and went after what he wanted! Madison as a professional, acted her age and didn't turn into a simpering fool in love and was a strong character. I'm really enjoying this series so far.
Madison and Tanner. This was different from what I was expecting. Tanner didn't have a chip on his shoulder and Madison wasn't out to prove anything. In fact if it weren't for the help of the other towns people, they might not have gotten together, or it would have just taken longer. Tanner and Madison grew up in the same town but he is quite a bit older than her. So it wasn't like they were in high school at the same time, and their experiences growing up were much different. Tanner was mr. popular who married miss. popular and had the requisite 2 kids. It might have worked out if he weren't an alcoholic and they hadn't been so young. Madison was one of those kids who was bullied and teased horribly until she left town to go to medical school, around the same time Tanner's life started to unravel. Now Tanner has a dysfunctional relationship with his ex-wife and grown kids, as Madison returns to town to take over her father's medical practice. Now Madison is a beautiful tall smart woman, but still sexually unsure and basically a sexy geek. She starts meeting those that used to tease her and make her life miserable but gradually comes to realize that she is looking at them upside down. It's sweet reading about the town contriving to bring these two lonely people who deserve someone to love, together. The May/Dec difference in years is talked about but without the hand wringing or automatic hands-off attitude of other books. Of course since this is a cowboy/lawman series, there is the bad guy and the action packed ending. But really, it's mostly a sweet story about two star-crossed lovers finally finding each other.
The best thing about Justice Healed is how real the characters are. Madison had dealt with a childhood full of bullies, but her reaction to how she interacts with them as adults seems so authentic. Tanner's history of alcoholism and his strained relationship with his son (an alcoholic himself) is heartbreaking and heartbreakingly real. That's the heart of the story. The suspense part, about rival drug cartels isn't nearly as interesting, but it does have it's suspense and action moments.
This book was better than the first! It flowed and even thou it is in third person, it did not feel as choppy!
It has a good storyline and side characters. The sex is steamy just trying to figure out why this author is so intent on including the condom removal with every scene... Lol? We get it safe sex!
Overall I'm glad I went on to read the second and I may try the third, they seem to get better! Just a bit more tweaking and the story would let us feel or imagine, instead of being told it was hot, or sweet, or a pretty day etc.
This was a good story far less robotic than the first, HEA, could be a standalone but characters are overlapping!
Yet another love story & true life situations. I love that no all relationships are younger people & age doesn’t matter. Alcoholic is a real life experience & this was great to see how Tanner never gave up on his son. I liked how Tanner & Madison didn’t jump right into wanting to have kids, that is was a possibility. On to the next Sheriff store!
Actually 4.75 stars In the series sophomore effort, Sheriff Tanner Marks would like a romance but isn't sure he deserves it or has time for one. He's trying to keep his son from repeating his mistakes as a father and husband; the drug dealers are getting bolder in his territory; his ex-wife is marrying a criminal and; he's starting to think retirement might not be such a bad thing at his age.
Dr. Madison Shay thinks of herself as the four-eyed, geeky, gawky, awkward 14 year old redhead she was teased for being as she grew up, except now she has a medical degree. Tanner comes to see Madison's father, for care after a bar fight but Madison's on duty. Tanner thinks that just fine. He also thinks Madison's grown into that height and hair just right.
Town wedding planner, Sherry goes through the eligible men in town as she and Madison play a game of pretend matchmaking and lament Madison's lack of a love life. Sherry decides Tanner would be perfect for Madison and gets the whole town to help get them together. Neither Madison nor Tanner is too upset about it since they like each other already.
Tanner's obligatory monthly meeting with the other small town sheriff's in the area to hash over common problems and help each other out as needed, gives the reader a chance to look over these rugged lawmen and pick a favorite. For this outing, both the vigilante and the drug cartels are heating things up and leaving bodies in the boy's backyards.
This undiscovered gem of a mature series has plenty to recommend it. There are well developed characters, worthwhile drama, action and suspense. It also has just enough humor to make you smile. The leads are generally over 30, the sex is steamy (in this read very safe sex), plus the story is relatively fast paced, interesting and well written.
Justice Healed (Cowboy Justice Association Book 2) by Olivia Jaymes
Olivia Jaymes was a new author for me, the subject matter looked like it would have the elements of a good read, and the e-book was free. What more could I ask for at this point?
Justice Healed, turned out to be a fun, playful, true to life themed story, with a bit of suspense, and a fair bit of action. The plot was simple but well written, with additional side threads to add complexity and dimension to the story, as well as expanding on the lives and roles of the 5 other cowboys /officers.
The romance was tender and sweet, growing from smoldering to hot. It was nice to read a book where both the H/h were well out of their twenties, educated, employed, and not perfect. The sex scenes were tasteful, and complementary to the story line, never becoming the focus of the books plot. I enjoyed the playfulness, locations and sexual attitudes of Tanner and Madison, I felt like they actually enjoyed being with each other, and finding ways to bring further enjoyment to each other.
The dialogue and reactions of the characters was realistic, the action scenes filled with tension, and the chemistry between Tanner and Madison strong. I have to complement the author on leaving no portions of the plot dangling or left unresolved, there is no cliffhanger - in fact this book can be read as a standalone, even though the 6 main cowboys/officers will each have their own books, and I suspect cameos by characters we have already meet.
I enjoyed the ease of reading, characters, the town, and the overall premise of the series and suspect that I will be back for a visit as the other books in the series are published..
I am pleased to say the 2nd book in the Cowboy Justice Association Series, is just as entertaining as the first book in this series, and then some. The series centers on small town Sheriffs in the cowboy country of Montana. These men are not your stereotyped small town sheriffs. These lawmen are tough, smart, loyal and sexy as all heck. They know how to treat a woman, both inside and outside the bedroom. This time the reader has a front row seat to the love affair between Sheriff Tanner Marks and Madison Shay, M.D. There were many things I liked about these two. They are both very respected in their chosen professions and yet they both still struggle with their pasts. The author is very insightful on how she deals with their struggles. Tanner, a recovering alcoholic, is now witnessing the past repeating its self, as his only son, heads down the same destructive road he once traveled. The dialog between father and son, is both realistic and powerful. Maddie may be Dr. Shay, but she still can’t let go of her awkward school days, and she still sees herself as the unpopular, brainy, skinny, red hair girl of her youth. I found it quite noteworthy, that it was the very girls that “bullied” her in high school that helped Maddie see herself as the real woman she is today- smart, attractive, and poised. This book has something for everyone, as there are passionate love scenes, some comedy, as well as, violence, suspense, and heroism. Plus, you get to catch up with Sheriff Reilly and his fun-loving bride, Presley. The other Montana cowboy Sheriffs are drawn into this plot and the readers are given more insights into their personalities, which only makes you more eager for their turn to star as the leading man in future stories. Rating 4.5
WOW!!!! What a fantastic story!!! Tanner Marks is the sheriff of Springwood Montana. While breaking up a bar fight, that his son is involved in, he receives a cut over his eye and needs stitches. Dr Madison Shay is having a movie night with her friend Sherry Martin when he shows up to see her father but he is out of town so she takes care of him. She has had a crush on him when she was in school and he had stopped some of her class mates from picking on her.
Sherry is a wedding planner and she decides that Tanner and Madison belong together and she gets the whole town involved in the plan. Everywhere that Tanner showed up so did Madison. Tanner ends up asking Madison out and during the date she tells him the plan and the town involvement. The only problems is they like each other.
Tanner's plate is full. He trying to get his son into a AA program. His wife is about to marry a man he doesn't trust and the drug cartels are having a drug wars and he has find out who is killing the dealers. He brings in the DEA to help him and everything goes wrong.
The question is can he protect his town, Madison and get rid of the drug cartels. There is a lot of action and suspense in the book!!! The character ever are powerful but do not overwhelmed the other characters in the story. I would recommend this book to everyone!!!!
Dr. Madison Shay moved from Chicago to her small town to help her father with his medical practice. She was a geeky skinny nerdy girl in school and everyone was very cruel to her. Tanner Marks is the sheriff of this small town and he has two grown children, boy and girl, and is divorced. Maddie's friend is determined to set her up with a man, but Maddie wants nothing to do with it, until she sees Tanner. He is so handsome even though he is 14 years older than Maddie, but that doesn't bother her. This book contain a lot of profanity and sex scenes so it may not be for everyone. The story is great as Maddie and Tanner get to know each other. Great read
This was a hard book for me to rate. I enjoyed the story, I liked it, but it didn't send me off the edge of my seat either with angst or sorrow. I guess lately I've read books that I remove from my Kindle right away, or absolutely love... Anyways, this book was well worth the .99 cents!
I was gratefully surprised that I was off on the bad guy development. And, it was a nice light read for me. If I could I'd give it a 3.5 star. Nice Read.
This was better than the first one!!, Tanner was absolutely delish, older cowboy/sheriff slightly jaded but so caring under that gruff exterior. Maddie was refreshingly honest, no drama she said what she thought and didn't play games, great story line and nicely drawn out characters, kept my interest throughout, will definitely read the third book in the series.
Book 2, Tanner & Madison.the book started slow and uneventful but did get better as it went along. Too many cheesy parts for me. They way they talk to each other is so old fashion and not interesting. The other characters from past and post books are included in each book. Tanner is the sheriff of their town and Madison is the daughter of the local doc. Tanner is divorced and has 2 kids, 1 over 21 and the other in college. Tanner is 15 years older than Madison. Madison was not attractive as a teenager (glasses & braces) but has blossomed into a beautiful woman and is also a doctor. She is very uncomfortable with men as she doesn’t know how the act around them. She is still a bit dorky around Tanner. The town is trying to set them up on a date. They end up in Los Vegas for her best friends wedding and have sex. They continue to see each other but Tanner has to leave for a secret mission. The drug lord gets to Madison and takes her hostage. Tanner and his friends save her. They get their HEA.
I pulled this one out of my old TBR file. After reading book 1 in the series and it being a DNF I didn't have high expectations. I was wrong. I enjoyed this book. It's a sweet romance with an alpha male cowboy sheriff who is 45 and has made many wrong choices in his life. The geeky girl that left town years ago to become a doctor returns and is now a swan. I loved these two characters together and the bevy of hot lawmen makes me want to move on to the next one in the series. There's suspense and crimes solved along with the sweet love story. Highly recommend this one if you're looking for a safe read with no triggers, characters you will like and some substance to the story besides the romance. Also there's Scout, the H's German Shepherd, who's retired from the police force and is a real member of the family. Animals get me every time.
Dr. Madison Shay has returned home to her small hometown of Springwood, Montana to help her dad with his medical practice. Sheriff Tanner Marks just wants to keep his town safe and his head above water. But the new doctor in town has raised his interest. He finds her intelligent, beautiful and forthright, a combination he finds hard to resist. Madison has found Tanner attractive since he saved her from the mean girls in town when she was 13. He's a recovering alcoholic, divorced and his adult son is perpetually furious with him. She's a fine doctor but her social skills are in need of help. Caught in the web of town gossip, a deadly vigilante and a war between drug cartels this story is fast paced, thoughtful and humorous. Beautiful to see these two incomplete people become complete and more than enough for each other.
Tanner is a small town sheriff working closely with 5 other small town sheriffs to eliminate crime in their towns. Right now drug cartels are a problem. Madison is the daughter of the town doctor and a doctor herself. When she returns home after years of living in Chicago to help her father with his practice, she expects a cold reception. She was bullied and made fun of in school. But she is a beautiful woman now even if she does not realize it. A matchmaking friend has plans to connect Madison and Tanner, a cartel leader is embedded in the town, Tanner’s family is at risk, and a vigilante is at large and sexy alpha males all around. So much going on in this book. And the passion between Tanner and Madison is so hot. I just loved Tanner.
Quite an easy read. Had to take my time due to other commitments but I was enjoying the pacing and sub plot in this.
It's nice there's no 3rd act break up. Its all down to the sub plot coming together.
I liked Tanner and I was pleased with the way his son and his relationship was sorted out and he had a slight character redemption. Thought that was a nicer feeling than what I was sort of expecting to happen with him causing an issue or being in the sub plot more.
I also liked Maddison. She was just an easy to like heroine nothing especially special about her but I enjoyed her parts.
Romance was good. It was a bit quick but this is a short book so what do you expect there.
Not a bad story. As a matter of fact the part of the book where all the “action” happened was really well written and captivating. However, the beginning of the book felt like it dragged on and on and was not very well written. I took several breaks in reading this one. It was interesting enough to want to finish it but with the writing feeling like the book was so slow I just couldn’t keep my attention on it. I’m one that reads about a book a day and this one should have been an easy read for me but I feel like it took much longer for me to finish it.
I loved Tanner and Madison. Great couple great chemistry. She was written to be kind of dumb even though she was a doctor.
I really enjoyed this book, after not finishing the first book in this series I’m glad I gave this author another chance. Loved Tanner and his friends. Maddie was also written well, I loved her personality and how she was always the better person. As a survivor of relentless bullying, it was nice to see her overcome that and not let that define her. While the smut scenes were ok, they were still very cringey and didn’t flow well however I still enjoyed all the side characters and loved seeing more of the five other guys.
This story deals with lots of real life issues: alcoholism, and the struggles that come with it and growing up with a family member who has dealt with it and gained their sobriety. The life of a sheriff who is divorced, and recovering alcoholic, doesn’t feel he deserves someone special in his life, until that special person walks into his life. There are moments of violence, death by cartel, ad law enforcement officers who are trying to get these people out of their counties.awesome stories, full of depth, intense drama.
Wow! I totally loved this. I read book one a while ago and always knew I would get to the rest of them. I was looking for a nice happy ending love story with a bit of a bite! And bit did I find it. The suspense was intense at times, will be make it in time or not? I loved all the characters and now I need to know Logan's story, I'm predicting suspense and heartache in that one.
What a delight! Strong storyline, great characters, good supporting cast and both MC's had great friends and family. The H was very likeable and not an over the top alpha. The h was strong and no doormat. They started slow and built a great relationship!
The ex-wife did not provide the toxic 'ex' drama and his 2 kids as well as his relationship with them and his former spouse, added to this characters strength.
This series gets better with every book I read. Tanners takes his job seriously, so does Madison, in that, they are perfect for each other. I loved watching their relationship develop throughout the book. I like that each individual book follows one of the Sheriffs but there's also the added vigilante story running through the series. I'm loving this series and can't recommend it enough.
Excellent storyline! Sheriff investigations, criminal activities, new doctor in town and romance. Mark Tanner is in his mid-forties, divorced and a couple young adult children; the new doctor in town is thirty, dedicated to her work, never married or even had a serious relationship, and very independent. There are a lot of moving parts in this book with the new romance the focal point. It is a sensual story and well written.
Are hero Tannet believes hes to old and broken to find love again. Maddie our heroine is reluctant to come back home to the town that have her a hard time as a child. It's a great story to watch them both realize how wrong they both are. Thrown in a drug cartel and the action heats up. Great story.
My main problem with this book is how much the good Dr and sheriff talk about their day, including names. Sorry but that's SO not allowed with privacy issues. I did like the book. But professional, I couldn't like their name dropping.
I am reading the whole series but I was going out of order so I went back to read the first 2 books. I enjoy the first books so much and it lays the groundwork for the rest of the characters. You won't be disappointed.
