★★★★ 1/2! Forty 2 Days, book 2 of 5. Aloof Billionaire Blake Barrington is owed another 42 days with his mistress Lana!

FREE link below to Blake Law Barrington Exposed, #2.1 to be read after chapter 3 of book 2.

Books in series should be read in order:
Book 1: The Billionaire Banker - Blake & Lana
Book 2: Forty 2 Days - Blake & Lana
Part 2.1: Exposed - Blake & Lana
Book 3: Besotted - Blake & Lana
Book 4: Seduce Me - Julie’s story
Book 5: Love’s Sacrifice - Blake & Lana

“My beautiful whore. Once I was good to you and you kicked me when I was down; now you get what you deserve.”

Thanks to my friend Lana and everyone who participated in our BR!

In The Billionaire Banker (book 1) 19-year old Lana Bloom who grew up in poverty met Billionaire banker, Blake Law Barrington, from one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in the world. She had gone to dinner with her boss in hopes of selling her virginity to pay for her mom’s break-through cancer treatment in the US.

Blake overheard the negotiations and following a set of events end up paying double to have her as his mistress for three months. We were treated to sizzling sex courtesy Blake Barrington. But their time was limited and thus their story got more complicated with Lana falling for Blake while him so used to getting bored after a few fucks can’t get enough…

Forty 2 Days (book 2) is the continuation of their story. Lana has 42 days left as Blake’s mistress. Through a series of unfortunate events mainly vindictive villains and powerful people in secret societies they have been separated for one year.

Blake is angry and vengeful and needs this time to work out his anger towards Lana while hopefully get his fill of her. Lana is very much in love with Blake, but sworn to secrecy she has to go along with his plan without being able to explain what truly happened.

Needless to say sex with and angry, ruthless and merciless Blake is even better than the jaded and aloof Blake. Lana is desperate to break through to him, but her pleads fall on deaf ears.

Add to that the large and powerful forces set of breaking them apart. It’s a roller-coaster of emotions, lust, lies, secrets, betrayal, suspense, deceit and intrigue set against the back-drop of an all-seeing, evil and dark force ruling this earth. Trust no one!

“Now I know whatever he guards so carefully inside must surely be truly precious or ugly beyond words.”

 photo dg35bysb_zpsd17cdb09.gif

BLAKE LAW BARRINGTON: 30 years/banker/heir to fortune/$$$$/dark brown hair/blue-grey eyes/6’2”.

Blake Law Barrington is my kind of a hero, the larger-than-life kind! His family name has afforded him respect, success and wealth beyond belief but also caused him to be jaded, ruthless and aloof. In book 1 we saw hints of a softer side, towards Lana. In this book ruthless Blake is back with a vengeance.

Seven words to describe Blake: Ruthless, in-control, enigmatic, elusive, self-assured, reflective and captivating.

“Tall, impressive, separate from the crowd, a ruler; and yet he looks alone and abandoned. I remember what he told me a long time ago. I trust no one. No one.”

 photo mf5bysb_zpscbfb65e3.gif

LANA BLOOM: 20 years/entrepreneur/black hair/blue eyes/5’6”.

Seven words to describe Lana Bloom: Unassuming, endearing, smart, caring, vulnerable, charismatic and interesting.

“Even if there is no hope, I still want whatever I can have. I want him on any terms.”

The secret society aspect of the story works for me. Yes it’s ugly, scary and at times utterly hopeless. But it’s also very plausible that a person from an old, rich and powerful family has such ties. And when a group of powerful men subscribe to the notion of “another thousand years to rule”, expect them to play god with feelings, events possibly life itself!

Forty 2 Days ends abruptly, but leaves them together and somewhat at peace with each other amongst turmoil in the outside world. Most of the secrets have been revealed, but there are a few loose ends. Per author book 3 to be released on April 29, 2014 will be more of an extended epilogue.

Enticing plot! Excellent story-telling! To die-for hero! Compelling heroine! I need book 3 now!

“From the first moment I saw you I wanted you. Not in the compartmentalized way I wanted the others, the length of leg, the jut of a butt, or the strain of material caused by a well-shaped chest. When I saw you I had to have all of you as mine. I would have paid any price that night to buy you.”

Suddenly I am swamped with a sense of déjà vu

When I read that line, I should have just given up because that is exactly how I felt – been there and done that in the first book. And the first book was not exactly a thrilling experience for me so …

There were the same clichés in this book that annoyed me.

Rich Billionaire
Poor Girl – she is still living in Kilburn
The Fat Duck
Overbearing father
Gay friend?
“Brother”
Well they went to The Ritz this time instead of Claridge's but… same old same old

… and what she said that about the “C” word

THE IRISH APPARENTLY USE IT AS AN ENDEARMENT … are you Irish? You know this how?

“Her name is Geraldine Dooley. She is from Ireland.”

Of course she is and let’s get a typical bog Irish name to give her… my middle name is Geraldine – I HATE IT.

I put the baby in her arms.
“All right, lad, what’s the story?” …
“T’be sure,” she agrees solemnly.

T’be sure, T’be sure … ok, I know non-Irish people have certain misconceptions about Ireland. Some think we speak like Tom Cruise spoke in FAR AND AWAY…. Seriously we don’t.

You might think we wear green all the time and believe in leprechauns – we don’t

So anytime I read something like this in a book, I go on the fucking defensive.

You might think that we use bad language a lot of the time – YES, I will admit that is one thing I personally can admit to.

I know, I know that was only 2 words in the book but that sealed the deal for me… the rest of the book was just a mish mash of EVERYTHING.

@82% - yeah let’s bring that into the book also …

As I have said before I don’t like giving low ratings, especially to new authors but this one did not work for me. Enjoyed the Buddy read and appreciate the ARC provided by the author.

3.5 I'm still trying to figure out how I feel stars

You owe me 42 days, Lana.

Let me start of by saying I loved, absolutely LOVED book 1. (see my review here
This book? I'm still trying to figure out what I thought. On the one hand there were parts that I wanted a little more from; more information, more explanation, just more. But on the other hand, I built up those expectations in my head, so I can't really get annoyed that the author went in a different direction than I had hoped for. So let me try to sum up all my feels here as best as I can. Those that haven't read book 1, DO NOT read my review. I will try my best to be vague but spoilers are inevitable.

I DEVOURED the first half of this book. Not even exaggerating. I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down.

Forty 2 Days starts off a year later where Billionaire Banker left off. Lana is back from Iran and attempting to pick up the pieces of her life and build a new one with herself, Billie, and

When she goes to the bank in the hopes of acquiring a loan for a business venture for her and Billie, the last person she expects to see is Blake. And to say that Blake is angry with her and the way she left him would be a MASSIVE understatement. But one thing is clear; Lana owes him 42 days, and he will get them.
You did me a favor. You opened my eyes. I see you now for what you were...are. I was blinded by you. I made the classic mistake. I fell in love with an illusion of purity and loyalty.
You are not admirable. You are despicable."

"So why do you want me to finish the contract?"

"I am like the drug addict who knows his drug is poison. He despises it, but he cannot help himself. So that we are totally clear- I detest myself. I am ashamed of my need for you."

Now if you know me or follow my reviews, you know I am ALL for the sexy assholes. So obviously, the more angry and brutal Blake was the more he made my pervy little heart go all pitter patter. It was all

And the angst overload was just perfection. You can just taste Blake's inner struggle. He hates Lana, or at least he wants you, yet he can't help but want her. He tries to be brutal and aloof, yet at the same time he can't.

But then somewhere in the second half the book went from good to

The problem, for me anyway, is this. The one thing that can bring a rating down for me is when a book has all this build up only to have a slightly glossed over conclusion. I suppose I just wanted a little...more.

1. Though after I stalked the author for answers, she has let me know we can expect to see her get her dues in the following book.

2.Though again, in a sick sort of way this does make sense given everything we find out about his father and the society he's in.

3. I must admit, I may have build this up in my head. I kept thinking they simply HAD to have been connected right? I mean, that's just way too big of a coincidence. So when there was no more mention of this, I was slightly disappointed. But again, I only have myself to blame here.

And finally

4.The ending. What.The.Fuck?! That was the phrase that was running on repeat in my head when I finished.

Was it an ending that was the perfect wrapped up in a bow HEA? No, not really. Do I think it was fitting for this book? Now that I think about it, I kind of do.

My biggest problem is that I felt it was almost rushed, slightly choppy and glossed over. There was all this build up to what the society was and the rituals and the everything and then all of a sudden BOOM...the end.

So as for my rating; 5 stars for the first half and 2 stars for the second, which I'm rounding out to 3.25

Will I be reading the 3rd book? Most definitely. While this one may not have been my favorite, I'm invested and curious enough with the story to continue reading.

3.5----Stars!!!

Warning: May Contain Mild Spoilers for The Billionaire Banker and Forty 2 Days!!

Well...that was interesting. I was excited to jump in to this one after the cliffhanger ending in The Billionaire Banker so imagine my surprise when I get started and find out this book starts ONE YEAR LATER!!!

Lana and her mom have been in Iran as she fulfills her agreement with that bitch Victoria. At the conclusion of the year, Lana returns home. She and Billie are looking to start a new business and Lana has applied for a loan. Hi Blake!

Blake wants the remaining Forty 2 Days of his contract. Blake is different. He's angry. He's cold. He's hurt. He can't understand why Lana left him. He was in love with her. But Lana has changed too. She had good reasons for leaving. And once Blake discovers those reasons things will never be the same.

Honestly, I thought a lot of this was like a repeat of book 1 all the way up to Lana leaving Blake. Throughout most of the book and especially the ending I was like

WTF is going on.

I just can't wrap my head around the magnitude of the Barrington family. Can one family have that much power?? I still have so many questions about stuff from The Billionaire Banker and from Forty 2 Days.

Blake's father

This can't be the end of Blake and Lana's story right? It felt more HFN to me.

Overall, this one wasn't a terrible read...but probably not as good as The Billionaire Banker. I could have done with more sexy times.

I will continue on with the story and hope we get more answers. Just more all around.

The second book in this series had me hooked right from the start!! I will admit though that I share the same opinion as a lot of the other reviews out there, that is that the first 50% of this story was fabulous...somewhere after that things took on a whole new tone, and Blake's personality did an extreme turn about. It was hard to swallow; one half he was so angry with her, and then the next half his anger had floated away. It almost felt like a bit of the twilight zone! LOL The rest of the events of the book as well took on a bit of a far fetched feel; but you know what? I still LOVED the book though, and I have fallen in love with Blake and Lana!! I am eager to keep going on this series, to find out more secrets, and to experience the major electric sex scenes that Blake and Lana share!

I have nothing very bad to say about this author. I am loving her writing, and how she is able to weave a tale. So happy that I have given this series a go!!!

This story takes place approximately a year after the end of The Billionaire Banker. Time has move on, events have taken place. There are still emotional feelings at play and an agreement to complete.

Blake wants to ensure that Lana meets her contractual promise.

Forty 2 Days began extremely well for me, knowing the characters and their personalities made me feel more connected to the story.... The writing felt more fluid to me. I wanted more Blake.... I really liked his controlling, vulnerable, yummy, sexy ways in the first book and was eager to discover his dark secrets, the reasons for his behaviour and actions....

Who could Lana trust??? Should she believe in Blake??? Would they go to another ball??? Where is Victoria??? Does he know??? Can love conquer all???

I devoured the scenes where Blake and Lana were on the page together, loved all of that, their relationship, especially in the bedroom department. This author can write smoking hot, sexy scenes....
"My sex becomes a greedy hungry mouth sucking at him." Mmmmmm, lovely.

Wishes
I wish the heroine had been stronger, her angst came across as a little desperate at times, in my opinion.

I wish I'd seen Blake and Lana develop more of an emotional attachment together with more scenes in book one, this would have helped me care that bit more.

There were some plot and character decisions that had me scratching my head To be fair, these things may be further addressed in the third book, that's my hope.

"....whatever he guards so carefully inside must surely be truly precious or ugly beyond words."

The culmination of what this story's been leading to was revealed towards the end and for me, sadly it was a little anti climactic. I wasn't so much shocked as amused and perplexed. I wish it could have been different but this is the story and I completely respect the author for taking it her way, it's certainly different. Up until the end, it had been an easy 4 star read, despite my wish list, but I think it lost it's sense of truth, for me.

I'm thinking that maybe my perplexities will be answered in the next installment??? The story has certainly stayed in my head which is the mark of a good book, and I still want more Blake..... He's just yummy. I want to find out how their future works out after all the discoveries and events of Forty 2 days!!! If you like a story that has themes you love, with an unusual end, then this may be a book you enjoy.... Are you curious??? Give it a read....
Roll on book 3!!!

**3.25 Head Scratching Stars**

After having devoured the first book in one day, I couldn't wait to jump into this and see where the story was going to go! I had so many questions, so many theories. But after finishing Forty 2 Days, I was left feeling...

It's pretty much impossible to review this book without spoiling anything, so I apologize in advance for the vagueness.

First off let me say that I really liked the first half of this book. I was coasting along, eating up the intrigue and the angst. The deep rooted, heated emotions were jumping off the page. The characters had been through so much and were bearing all. I was loving every minute of it. There were a few head scratching moments, but overall it looked like it was going to slide its way into a nice solid 4 star rating.

And then the second half hit. It was a whole lotta....

Was someone else writing this book? The story felt forced, there was a complete shift in character personalities, the dialogue was choppy and the natural flow of the plot was thrown out the window. At one point I even felt like I was possibly missing a chapter. The transition just didn't make sense.

It felt like the author lost her way. In telling the story from A to Z....she made it to about Q and then just didn't know how to finish. How to naturally address everything that had been hinted at along the way. Some things were glazed over, some things were over-thought and others were ignored entirely.

Would I continue with this series? I honestly don't know. It would depend on where the next book is going.

Would I read anything else by this author? Probably. Georgia Le Carre took an overused scenario and gave it a different spin, so for that Bravo.

Oooooookay.

What the hell just happened? You think this book is about one thing and then it turns into...I don't know...that was bizarre, a little twisted and all kinds of strange...but oddly addictive and I so need to read the next one.

 photo 42days_zps7266ea2a.jpg

This is a really hard review to do. I loved this book and then I was like I am not liking this book. There were so many questions left unanswered. There were so many scenarios that were way out there and I could have gone with them but they seemed too extreme.

I loved Blake at the beginning. This story picks up a year after The Billionaire Banker. Blake is angry, bitter, out for revenge when he finally sees Lana again. He had loved her and she left him, not even knowing if he had lived or died. Blake wants Lana to finish out her original contract, she has 42 days left and he is hell bent to do whatever he thinks he needs to do to get her out of his head. He is angry and hurt and wants to make her pay for the hurt she has caused him. All this sounds great to me and I'm loving it so far....

 photo 3f1b3eb5-bdc7-42cd-b412-f7b1a2f18b84_zps519c9e3d.jpg

Then about 50%, things started going amiss for me.
what gifs photo: 15flhqx.gif

Blake changed at a blink of an eye, a strange interaction in the park with Lana and Sorab...."Beware of Cronus", a trip to Venice, hit and run again, trip to the Barrington's estate to see Blake's sister, and then the You wanted something I have never done with any other woman. You have it." There was a lot going on!!

And then at 85%...
wtf gifs photo: rachel wtf rachel_WTF.gif
The secrets come out and they were quite overwhelming. It was all just way out there......The ending was equally perplexing. I will read the 3rd book to see if I can get some answers to ALL the questions I still have. I do have one big gripe.....Victoria, where was she and what happened to her? That really bothered me that she was briefly mentioned in this book. I hear that she will be in the 3rd book considering .

*I will say that I did read Exposed. It is the first two chapters of Forty 2 Days told in Blake's POV that Georgia just released. It was an awesome and I loved it. I hope that the 3rd book has more of Blake's POV. http://www.druesrandomchatter.com/

3.5 "WTF WAS THAT?" stars!

Unfortunately, this book is going to be impossible to review thoroughly without spoilers. So, at risk of spoiling it, my review will be uber vague.

Forty Two Days starts off roughly a year after the conclusion of the Billionaire Banker. If you haven't read BB, stop now as this has spoilers for that book. We were left with Lana being paid off and moved to Iran.. She's pregnant and Blake is laying in a hospital bed with a head injury after saving her life. Fast forward a year....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Lana is back in the UK and Blake tracks her down via bank activity. And he is PISSED and is mad at himself for still pining away for a woman that screwed him over royally. He can't get her out of his system. She owes him 42 days...and she WILL deliver.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

That's all you're getting. The book is seriously fast paced and full of angst. I loved that aspect of it! Blake is so incredibly torn between his need for revenge against her but also his need to consume her. She's like a drug to him...something you hate yourself for wanting but have no power against the craving. I LOVED that. He was so angry and hurtful but you could see his insides shredding. The author did a stellar job bringing his torturous inner battle to life...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

It's written in first person POV which I tend to love. Getting in Lana's head is so much more intimate than being told their story. She wants to clear things up with him, tell him what Victoria did to get her out of the picture but she signed a non-disclosure. Well, he came to her...she didn't come to him so she hasn't violated that contract. She will just have to tell him how she feels without TELLING him.

Blake goes full circle in this book. You go from hating him to seriously rooting for him in the end. He fights his feelings of anger but can't entirely let her go in his heart.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Well, the ending. Here is my buzz kill. I didn't like it. It was just kind of odd for me. Does this exist in real life society? Say it isn't so! Once you read it, you'll understand my question. I wanted all my questions answered but that wasn't the way I wanted it done...

The author says it's a HEA but no epilogue was given, no future plans, and that ending...gah. I still really liked it but it's like half the book was a love and half the book was a WTF? The first half was epically awesome but towards the end, some things just didn't fit or were put in for no reason. It's hard to convey without spoiling the end...and the whole book leads up to that last 10% that went flat for me.

I did receive an arc copy that had quite a few typos and grammatical errors. This did not play into my rating because it was an arc but I'm hopeful they were edited prior to publication because had they not been, and this was a purchased copy, I'd delete a good half star.

A good all around read. A different spin on a well used plot line. A VERY different spin in the end...

This is a spoiler free review for both, The Billionaire Banker & Forty 2 Days.

3 "LOVELY BONES" stars.

Before I begin, I'd like to thank the author, Georgia Le Carre, for providing me with an ARC of book 2.

I did enjoy both books. I ended up liking book 1 a bit better because I am not a fan of stories [erotica especially] told by a first-person narrator.

Some of my other likes/dislikes ...

Things I liked about the books:

1. Story.

I thought it started out really well.

2. Heroine.

I am very heroine picky [to the point that I have a shelf called 'heroine I wish would drop dead']. I recently read a book with a very similar plot (virgin heroine sells herself to pay for her mother's medical care) which I absolutely HATED because the heroine in that one came across extremely juvenile. Lana, even though 19 (when we first meet her) never once had me frustrated with something she did/say due to her age.

3. Hero.

What can I say?? I guess I am a sucker for a guy who drives and Aston Martin.

4. MC's names.

Believe it or not, names can make or break a book for me. This book had some great ones.

5. Supporting cast.

From Blake's evil dad to Lana's adorable BFF, Bill, the secondary characters were fantastic.

6. Plot twists.

Even though far-fetched at times, I thought the plot had some great shockers.

Things that, in my opinion, could use improvement:

1. I am not a grammar nazi because typos don't usually bother me but these books had a few pretty obvious ones that could have been avoided.

2. Too 'out there' turn of events.

I know it's fiction and doesn't have to feel 'real' but I honestly thought the way the story unfloded in book 1 was enough to keep it going without adding stuff that was too 'out there', does this make sense??

Final thoughts:

I called this "LOVELY BONES" because the story does have 'lovely bones' and, with a few minor tweaks, a potential to be really great!

Looking forward to Besotted to see how Blake and Lana's story ends.

Till then ...

So this book picks up one year after The Billionaire Banker ends. I loved the angst in the first 40% of this book and then it just fell apart for me. Aside from the

Which I have to say was a huge

There were several other aspects that just didn't work/make sense/weren't carried through. It had a lot of potential and I didn't hate any of the characters (except the ones I was supposed to) so I'm staying middle of the road with my rating.

So this definitely wasn't for me.
It felt raw.. and not in a good way.
From the way the heroine self loathed and accepted abuse, to the insensitive mention of triggers, nothing worked for me. I won't go into spoilers, but this messed up love story gave me no feels. And I've read and appreciated dark romance before.

STUNNING! STILL REELING FROM IT....

I was overcome with multitude of emotions after reading 42 DAYS, I was stunned that I needed time to recover. When this happens, you know you've read an amazing book. The main characters, Blake and Lana, and the ensemble cast brings to the forefront a myriad of emotions to the readers. Ms. Georgia Le Carre's incredible talent brought balance to the credibility of the plot in combining love, passion, power and greed with suspense. You will be biting your nails and find yourself at the edge of your seat as the story unfolds, you're never sure what's going to happen next. This is a combination of all of my favorite things in a book, all wrapped up in one that I'm not even sure how to categorize it.

At the beginning of the book, we find Lana awaiting anxiously for her turn to speak to the loan officer who would either approve or deny her application. Fear and hope are riding high on this much needed loan, she'll either make it or brake it. In her state of agitation and apprehension, her senses are so keen to every single activity around her and got even more afraid when she was taken up to the upper level of the bank when everyone else were being seen on the first level. She felt even more dreadful when she was ushered discreetly into a private office and got the shock of her life to find the man sitting behind the desk, was none other than the hot amazing, enigmatic Blake. The same man she ran away from, the very same who, come hell or high water, wants his 42 days she owed him. Nothing and no one will stand in his way in getting what he wants...and he wants Lana. What ensues next was challenging, at times, sad and humiliating, but by gosh, hotter than hell exciting and exhilarating! It's full of heat and love, it's the culmination of the great temptation and consummation of searing desire for each other, that of Blake and Lana.

The author does an excellent job in bringing semblance to the story making it relatable by taking real life themes that we can all relate to and adding in the fantasy of the wealth, glamour, and the mystery of this secret "Society" that has the power to rule, create war and bring chaos to the world. The combination of this and romance, great desire for great control and authority, makes the plot unbelievably real and exciting. This was truly, absolutely a fabulous tale and has the power to make you feel and see the story unfold before your discerning eye.

The ability of the writer to hold off and reveal the most explosive part until the last quarter of the story, took me in a mother of all roller coaster ride, it delivered that blow like a kick in the gut! I got the highest of my highs and the lowest of my lows and still left me wanting for more, just couldn't get enough begging for more!

3.5 what-the-what stars.

It's taken me few days to finally write my review because to be honest I strugged with it. I really enjoyed the first books and was very much looking forward to the second and the resolutions that where brought up in the first.

The book starts a year after the 1st left off, in that space of time Lana has returned to England .

We quickly see Lana and Blake reunited with a less than warming reunion with Blake demanding Lana complete the last 42 Days of her contract. We see a different side a Blake, his anger still palpable at her "betrayal" and reflected in his behaviour of her as he aims to degrade and demean her. Lana through guilt and love for him lets him before they form a truce of sorts.

In a sentence I'd describe it as a love story shrouded in secrecy and dark themes. There were so many things that happened its noticeable that some subjects seemed to be skimmed over and not thoroughly developed.

My main being:
.

With that being said, I've since discovered that there's a 3rd book. I'm still intrigued enough to definitely want to get my hands on it. Also there were a few Laugh out Loud moments, intentional or not I'd stick around for those.

Not my cuppa. I won’t rate it because when I read the word contract and agreement and nda and it means a man buys sex favor from a woman I never find it interesting or exciting I find it boring and ludicrous.
I basically sleep read the book and what I found more interesting were the theories of deep state, where the most important and influential families in the world and specifically in USA rule thanks to satanic rituals where human beings are sacrificed o obscure deities, especially children. The hero is a member of one of these families and was hurt and abused by his own father. He bought the heroine and now he’s angry because she left before the contact expired.
Completely uninteresting and unsafe, he was with hundreds of women in one years of separation. There’s a first book I won’t read and a third one that I won’t read too.
Well, bye.

Book 2 didn't disappoint me a bit, I totally loved all the twists, the story development and the super steamy sex.

Blake and Lana that sniff each other's intimate parts to see if they had cheated was superhot!

I so loved the name of the baby: Sorab... so cute and meaningful and would have loved more moments of Blake with his son. Their moments together were too cute!

The end of the book was totally unexpected. Even though I had imagined his father was going to have a bad end.

If you read and loved the first book, you will love this second book 2 too.

BR with Lkay, SueBee, Irene, J, Allison, Crystal, Mirjana, Alex, Mo, Claudine, TORI, Shannon and Elizabeth

I enjoyed the first instalment of this story, and looked forward to some resolution, given the amount of hooks and hangers we were left with.

I will try to suppress any spoilers, but a few creepers may be inevitable.

We catch up with Lana a YEAR later, and find out she has had some devastating news, disclosed in a brief sentence. No dwelling, no real further explanation...I was surprised very little more was divulged, given that this was a major part of the storyline, I hoped there may be clarification connection later..

It is not long before Lana and Blake are in each others company, but Blake is hurt and vindictive towards Lana, given the nature of how book 1 ended. Blake's treatment of Lana incensed me, which was a good thing. Putting his hostility aside, he was still insistent that Lana completed the 42 days remaining on her contract.

Lana went through the same initial rigmarole, pruning and preening, whilst her change in circumstance was also designed into Blake's arrangement. I was amazed that this secret remained hidden from Blake for as long as it did, given his army of eyes and ears.

As the story went on, I found a disconnect between Blake's initial hostility and when he then became more amenable. I couldn't see what caused that, or what realisation he came to. I also got very confused with the omission of some major characters and plot lines that we had been given in book 1. Perhaps it will all become clearer in book 3..

I was enjoying the story up until it appeared to make a bit of a sharp left! Then all hell broke lose, there appeared to be gaps in the story, and then it ended...

I would like to assume that all will be tied up in book 3, which I will read, but I was left with even more questions.

I didn't know at first that this was a trilogy, but everything is these days so no huge surprise there. However, this story progresses well, so I didn't feel like this book was a filler. It does have an interesting twist, which I couldn't decide if it made the story more intriguing or more unbelievable.

This story begins one year after the first book ends. Lana unexpectedly runs into Blake, and he wants their original contract to be fulfilled. That means 42 more days as "his." Except this time Blake is hurt and angry, and he wants to make Lana pay. I won't go into too much more of the plot, except to say that more of Blake's world is introduced in this book. And I mean a world beyond merely being insanely rich. I'm talking a secret society Illuminati-type world with very disturbing rituals and protocols.

Can Blake forgive Lana? Can Lana survive in Blake's world? I guess you'll have to read the book to learn the answers.

I am anxiously awaiting book #3 to tie up the loose ends. The author says to expect a May release, but I want it now!

Participated in my first ever buddy read with a fun & hilarious group of gals!! ARC was graciously provided by author.

This book picks up a year later from Billionaire Banker. Lana isn't innocent anymore & Blake is angry he gave his heart to Lana only to have her leave him in the hospital for money.Circumstances are not what Blake believes and secret signed contracts forbid Lana to tell Blake the truth. So what's a girl to do but finish the 42 days left of Blake's original contract and let Blake take out his frustration with Lana in the bedroom! Yes......this book delivers with the steamy sex scenes. Georgia Le Carre throws in a secret society with very exclusive members, traumatic childhood secret, & tragic death. This was more than a steamy romance novel; we were given mystery and suspense as well.
My only negative for this book was that not everything was all tied up at the end of the story. It turns out there is a Book 3 coming 4/29/2014 that will give me what I'm looking for. I really love Blake & Lana and am looking forward to their conclusion!!

5 THE-ENDING-IS-BEYOND-MY-EXPECTATIONS STARS

I totally devoured this book in one sitting!!! So, this book must be something right?

At first, the big ol misunderstanding made me...

Then at 50%ish, the sudden change of course made me...

Near to the ending, I was already like...

But then, the big bomb...

Good job, Ms. Le Carre, I didn't see that coming! And oh, I need book three right this second!

3-3.5 stars

I must admit I had high expectations for Part 2 of the Billionaire Banker series. Why? I had so many questions in book 1 that just did not make sense to me, and I so looked forward to having some of those questions resolved and explained.

However, I found myself saying
[image error] photo images-1_zps2b4e25b8.jpg

Lana and Blake still left me with so many questions. And I just didn't get the answers I had hoped for. I found that starting this book one entire year after Lana had left caused me problems. I continued to try and go back to see if I had "missed" something. I will also say that there seemed to be even more situations/people introduced with no real resolution. How could he have not known about if he was so all powerful and in the know otherwise?

And again I ask - not sure how many women would run to Iran to get away.

There is no doubt they are "hot" but Blake goes from sneering, condescending, and downright verbally abusive to "You have no idea how much you mean to me"...Huh?
[image error] photo Cute-Chimpanzees_zps063bb9a5.jpg

My question is this: Is this the end? Was that the real ending? I'm not sure I got the closure I needed to be honest. Questions still exist about Cronus, The Ritual, the mother's death...etc. *sigh*

Lana and Blake need some major communicating skills. :):)

Holy shit, I wasn't expecting that crazy twist. Not sure how I feel about this mess, I mean, series. I had a big problem with the baby as prop all through this book--mentioned just a handful of times. Lana didn't seem to care much about him, just to get back in bed with Blake. So, maybe she's "blending" into the right family. Especially with her opting to fulfill the prophesy at the end. Though at seven months I'm not sure how attached she might be, ahem, just kidding.

4.5 HOTTEST THRILLER STARS!

Wow, what a gripping story!!!

description

There are many components in this book that totally makes it a winner for me. Here are the points that I loved the most! :)

First, Georgia Le Carre switches gears in Forty 2 Days and now tells the story in first person through Lana's eyes. I really liked that switch because I got to know Lana better and I was able to feel more of what she was going through in the story. And let me tell you, she goes through a roller coaster of suspense, passion, and fear!

Second, this story is H.O.T.!! The connection between Lana and Blake is undeniable. They're completely crazy about each other and it showed every time they were together. Such a passionate, intense, and erotic love. At the beginning of the story and as the blurb says, Blake is looking for revenge as he feels betrayed by Lana (for what she did in The Billionaire Banker, book #1) so he's cold and distant. His only goal is to claim her back. However, there's a big turnaround when he discovers Lana's secret and he's forced to reconsider his life all together in order to protect her.

I really enjoyed getting to know Blake in this book. In The Billionaire Banker he was a complete enigma and kept most of his emotions to himself but now he finally opens up to Lana in beautiful ways. He loves her! He truly loves her and that's his struggle through out the book because his love for her is forbidden and it could bring great harm to Lana. But Blake is a badass billionaire who doesn't give up easily so the way he carries the burden and figures out a plan is both super exciting and intriguing!♥

Third, the suspense in this book is high !! From the start I had not clue how the story was going to evolve and that alone was very engaging. But what kept me absolutely hooked was the mystery. So much mystery this story had that I got goosebumps on more than one occasion from fear of the unknown and the anticipation of wanting to know the truth. Georgia did an amazing job of slowly revealing the pieces of the puzzle and never spoiling anything too soon. It's at the very end when things finally make sense and by that time my shock level has gone through the roof!

Fourth and final point... This book was funny! Around all the secrecy there were still super amusing moments. Billie, Lana's best friend, was really something! She cracked me up many times with her attitude, cynicism, and care free spirit. I liked that I got to see more of her in this book and appreciate the strong bond between her and Lana. Furthermore, outside of their steamy encounters, Lana's innocence/naiveness and Blake's confidence/sexyness also created some memorable funny moments that I very much enjoyed. :)

Overall this was an outstanding read and I more than enjoyed it, I loved it! It had the qualities of a great romance plus it was thrilling and full of addictive suspense. If you are looking for something different and refreshing The Billionaire Banker Series is a perfect hot choice! ;)

Forty 2 Days is not the conclusion of Lana and Blake's amazing story, the series will continue with another book coming out this Spring (YAY!!). I can't wait to know what happens next!

Favorite Quotes:

"It's like we have never been away from each other. This is the man I belong to heart and soul. Without him I have been an empty shell going through the motions."

"I am here to atone for a wrong I did him. I'm here because, even though he doesn't believe it, I'm crazy in love with him."

"You are my sustenance, my oxygen. I need you desperately. In fact, right now, what I feel for you is the only part of me that feels human."

"I'm looking into the eyes of a man who almost appears to be drowning and I am the straw that he has found to clutch onto."

"Have I ever told you, Miss Bloom, you're a sight to behold," he says cheekily.

"To be whole, to know him completely I only have to embrace his darkness and make it mine."

"I love you, Lana Bloom, I love you more than life itself."

Wow, one of the reasons why I love picking up unknown authors is because I like to see how much he/she can improve from book one to book two of a series. The writing style of Forty 2 days is better, now written in first POV, not that I had a problem with third POV, but now it’s not awkward anymore.

There will be spoilers from Book one, The Billionaire Banker.

So, I was pissed with the ending of book one. I was floored that Lana left and Blake thinks she was just a gold digging whore. I didn’t need my HEA, but I didn’t want Victoria to win. It’s a year later and Lana needs a loan to start a baby clothing line with her best friend Billie. Lana doesn’t have the money Victoria gave her, because it was donated (that pissed me off too). Blake will give her the loan, but she needs to complete the forty-two days that’s left on the contract. Blake is pissed off, but wants to get Lana out of system and he thinks if he just uses her for those days he can move forward.

The summary is hard for me stomach because I do not like it when the Hero is angry at the Heroine for the wrong reasons, but I had to see how the story would play out. Lana lies to Blake and tells him that Billie had a baby boy and Lana needs to take care of him. I wonder how the whole baby thing would play out, but I guess that is why the story is fast forward a year later.

I’m just going to point to the highlights and not so highlights of the book…

Highlight

- Angry sex is kind of hot (as much as I didn’t like the thought of Blake not liking Lara

- The writing is a HUGE improvement from the first book. I totally agree with the first POV and it flowed a lot more.

- I felt like Forty-two was a bit more polished and edited.

- The villain, he’s a crazy bastard and I love to hate a good villain

Non Highlights

- For some reason, it bothered me that Blake was still engaged to Victoria, even during the whole forty-two days. I know it was to show us he didn’t like Victoria, but still, it kind of upset me.

- The Bared to You similarities. I know Bared to You isn’t the most original story line, but something in forty-two referenced a similarity to Bared to You and I kind was like “really? She went there” I kind of rolled my eyes and moved forward.

- The ending was a little too crazy for my taste. It was just so out there and it didn’t really have the same look and feel as the whole book, but I read it with an open mind.

- It was a bit short, again book 1 and 2 should have been one book.

I have no idea what the third book will be about, if I had any preferences I would say since Forty-2 Days ended kind of dark, I wouldn’t mind if Besotted was a bit dark too. I would want more kinky scenes and throw in Victoria as the crazy villain that can’t get over Blake. I do not want Blake to push Lana aside though. I hope it will be a story of Blake and Lana verse the world (since those are my favorite reads).

Also, I would mind if there was a spin off book with the son as the main character, but that is just me thinking out loud.

I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as I did Owned. I expected Blake's anger (and was happy to see it), but there were a lot of things I thought were stupid. I didn't buy Lana's explanation of what happened to the money. Her entire reasoning for taking it in the first place was to create a better life for her son, so to do what she did makes zero sense. There were other things too. She initially went to the bank to get a loan for a small business she and Billie want to start. I waited and waited for this to be brought up again, but nope, it's just abandoned. Why?
And things just got weird. I can handle the crazy fiancee. Having drama with Victoria actually being in love with Blake and doing crazy things to keep hold of him even though it was only supposed to be more of a business-like marriage makes sense to me. But goodness, this brought in crazy religious rituals and sacrifices, and all these secrets that had to be kept from Lana because Blake wanted to maintain her innocence. What? Just no...

Well this book/sequel didn't disappoint one bit! Loved how she started the book a year later -

Blake can't let go of the fact that Lana left him...he wants revenge... So when the opportunity presents itself, he is there. Lana is so shocked to think he still wants her, knowing their relationship was just about sex, but she doesn't know squat - how deep his feelings for her go! The little nuances of Blake, how he is evolving into a different person because of Lana is so sweet. He learns to cook a steak for crying out loud! He is ultra cautious for her, because he will NOT loose her again!!! Loved all the characters - Billie, Jack, Fleur, Tom...

There is still the whole plot of the super rich and how they control the world and that whole sub-story doesn't loose it's luster...nope!

Love Georgia LeCarre! She is one wicked smart writer!!!

I checked directly with the author on this one and she confirmed that

"Blake started to develop feelings for her which he wanted to kill. The best way to forget a woman is to replace her with another......As for Lana she was already deeply in love with Blake, but she didn't want him to know she was having his child since her NDA expressly forbade her from getting pregnant and if she did fall pregnant she had to turn the child over to the powerful Barrington family.

So to answer your question this book may not be for you since Blake does sleep with all those other women and Lana remains faithful to him the whole time. "

So he slept with hundreds of other women in a single year and she remained faithful. He is a disgusting pig.
