Hiroaki Samura ( 沙村広明) is a Japanese cartoonist and illustrator. He is best known for writing and illustrating the manga Blade of the Immortal (1993-2012). Among his other manga series Die Wergelder (2011-2018) and Wave, Listen to Me!, the latter serialised since 2014.
I love horror mangas, but this... this was just disappointing. A collection of 8 short stories by different artists and only 3 of them were actually good. This volume and the idea behind it had so much potential! Why did they have to ruin everything by choosing the wrong mangaka? The best things in this manga are the art inserts between chapters 4 and 5 (by Samura Hiroaki) and the cover (by Sho-u Tajima). But -SURPRISE!- both artists didn't write or illustrate any of the stories in this collection.
Totally not worth the cost and I won't suggest it not even to the least fussy zombie fan.
I really love zombies and I got interested when I saw the cover of this manga.
Some of the stories are morbid and it contains 100% gore so don't read it if you have a weak stomach and is susceptible to vomiting,
I enjoyed reading all of the chapters and I'm quite fond of Chapter 2 and Chapter 3! Well, a little bit of Chapter 8 too, but the plot is twisted and confusing. I really didn't like the illustration of that part. I liked Sachi, though. She's so badass.
Basically, this is a collection of eight zombie related short stories by several authors.
> Chapter 1: And I Love Her by Katsuya Terada > Chapter 2: Dead and Fail to Die by Hitoshi Kino > Chapter 3: Children Living with Corpses by Uguisu Sachiko > Chapter 4: by Shimada Toranosuke > Chapter 5: Forest of Spirits by Hokazono Masaya > Chapter 6: Zombie Boy by Hiromoto Shinichi > Chapter 7: Fight of of the Living Dead by Koizumi Tomohiro > Chapter 8: Organic Human Solution Organogel by Fukao Atsushi
Most of these chapters have a really horrible plot for a short story. The second and the third chapters are the only ones that are interesting. The rest are plain and boring. They even included illustrations by Hiroe Rei (Black Lagoon), Samura Hiroaki (Blade of the Immortal) and Matsumoto Jiro (Freesia). It would have been better if they asked these artist to draw their own short story as well.
Real rating: 1/10 Manga/GN rating: 2.7/10 As lifeless as the creatures that fill its pages, this collection of short stories from multiple artists lacks brains a soul and most assuredly a heart. A few of the tales have decent art work but ultimately it is a simple cash grab trying to latch onto the zombie trend of the day. Do not bother unless all you are looking for is panels of blood and entrails.
