This review is for the fics Everybody will hate this and Seven Sessions (pre-epilogue). This is the closest I got to the same name ❤️

4.5⭐️

These two fics had me so hooked. The plot is minimal, but during the first fic, I kept asking what made Hermione obliviate him. I hoped it wouldn't be a stupid reason like in Past Present Future because I would have been disappointed. It wasn't the best reason ever, but it made sense to me. Their personalities are so good. They are both very broken at different times. He is toxic, flirty, and charismatic. Older Draco is incredibly sexy and I love him with all my heart. Hermione is very gullible in her teens and believes everything Draco tells her, even when it sounds clearly untrue and is the definition of gaslighting. But as an older version, cold and detached, it made sense. I loved this one. The writer was also so good at writing the conversations, their trains of thought, and the pacing. It kept me wanting to come back again and again. I can't believe this isn't bigger for Dramione fans. I have to love Yule for finding this stuff.

🚨 Story

Draco and Hermione are back in Hogwarts for an eighth year. Hermione is there because she is a swot, and Draco because he was mandated to return after his role in the war. The Malfoy estate and funds are being held while Draco’s charges are still being investigated. Because of this, Draco has to go regularly to the library to study since he doesn't even have money to pay for new books. He gets extremely annoyed when he finds that Hermione is always in the library, always using the books he needs, and even more annoyed that she isn't actively using them the whole time.
Eventually, he explodes, tells her that, and starts sitting with her. This leads to them sharing books, talking a bit, and touching a bit, until she kisses him out of the blue when they are walking because she just wanted to feel something. After that, they start touching more, kissing regularly, and being more intimate. They become exclusive without really talking about it.
She wants to stop being a secret, but he doesn't want to tell Narcissa. He gaslights Hermione a bunch and makes her stay in London instead of going abroad to study. Everything is super shady from Draco, and it all comes crashing down when she sees a picture of Draco kissing Astoria on the front page of the Daily Prophet. He didn't want to marry Astoria, but he didn't say no to his mom, and he kissed her to see if he felt something from someone other than Hermione. He doesn't tell that to Hermione, but she is clearly pissed and asks him for a plan for their future. While waiting for him, she goes to a cafe and hears Astoria telling Daphne that they did more than kiss. When Draco comes to Hermione, he doesn't have a plan, so she breaks it off with him. Since he won't leave, she impulsively obliviates him of their relationship.
She stays in London and works in St. Mungo's to try to figure out a way to remove Dark magic curses, like the Dark Mark and her Mudblood scar. She creates a program specifically for Death Eaters, mostly hoping that Draco comes in to get it taken off. She does all of this to apologize for what she did by obliviating him. She doesn't date because she doesn't trust anyone. Her life is blank and boring, but she is looking into doing IVF to become a mom in the future.
Draco leaves London when his mom tries to get him to sign Astoria’s wedding contract. He travels a lot, meets Muggles, lives a modest life, and grows.
16 years pass. Narcissa dies and he has to come back to handle her funeral. He finds diaries in his bedroom detailing a year-long relationship with Hermione that he is unaware of, so he decides to stalk, investigate, and confront her. He goes everywhere she goes to goad her into getting angry and answering questions. After a lot of not finding out anything because Hermione is a rock, she gets drunk on the night of her parents' obliviation anniversary. She finally goes down on him and leaves, which is something he never really let her do when they were young. She still avoids him, but eventually slips up and tells him that she did it and that they were in love. She shows him the single picture she kept and gives him her memories to see what happened, telling him not to mention it again. He ignores that.
The second fic is him finally planning, 16 years later, how to get her back. His plan is to know her and bring down her walls. He schedules seven sessions to get rid of his Dark Mark with the best healer: Hermione. He tries to connect, she blocks him, and they share moments when the magic is strong while removing his mark. They kiss, but she leaves for a holiday to Chicago, then Australia, ending up in a small town in Australia where her parents live. He gets a private investigator to find her, which takes 2 months.
The day he finds her, Hermione’s father tells her she is the spitting image of his wife. She is frozen, so Draco takes the lead and charms his way into a dinner date with them, which later results in a bird-watching date between Hermione and her mother. Hermione starts to come alive, and Draco decides to buy her a house and tell her to stay. She immediately thinks it is a plot for them to stay together, but he actually leaves. She stays there for a full year, and they send letters back and forth. She strengthens her relationship with her parents, who think of her as an adopted daughter since she stayed after her mom convinced her to remain in Australia, and their adopted kids even call her sister. She takes her father’s advice and goes to London to surprise Draco, and stays with him.
