Constance Cary Harrison was an American writer. She was also known as Constance Cary, Constance C. Harrison, and Mrs. Burton Harrison, as well as by her nom de plume, Refugitta. She and two of her cousins were known as the "Cary Invincibles"; the three sewed the first examples of the Confederate Battle Flag.
There are some good tales in here from all KINDS of places. But, be warned, some are dumbed down; narrated in such a fashion as to put the reader into sugar shock.
I liked this book, it harkens back to a time when fairy tales were Grimm and gritty. I can see some parents raising a stink about this for a few of its downright frightening scenes and grisly moments. However, the darkness only served to make the light shine brighter! Love, death, magic, monsters, faraway lands, brave heroes, and fiendish villains- this is exactly what I'm looking for in a fairy tale book!
