Lee never gave much thought to the old woman who lives upstairs, until the afternoon when everyone came to kill her. The old lady has seen it all, while Lee is still in high school. Now, they're running for their lives together through the streets of Washington Heights in New York City. But the streets can be as tough as the forces arrayed against them. If they can make it through the night, they just might survive...
I thank BookSirens, the publisher and the author for this review copy. My review is based on my reading this book and is my honest unbiased opinion.
3.5 star for the story
This is a story that has been oft repeated about people on the run for their life from contract killers, government and many others.
The story comes with a different take with the story told from the view of a young man who saves the life of an old lady and is surprised why people are against her and want to kill her. His interactions with the lady and the way they flee and avoid the clutches of their attackers is the story.
The story is fast and frenetic with some parts hard to accept but the lady's story and her banter with the young man makes it an entertaining read. Decoding the conspiracy that needs to unravel forms the kernel of the book.
This was really enjoyable. It's easy to read thanks to a terrific writing style.
The story is told from the POV of Lee, a teenager whose good deed in helping an elderly neighbour results in both him and the neighbour being on the run from various people, from government agents to vigilantes. It seems that this is related to something the old woman saw as a young child.
Although the story is far-fetched, just sit back and enjoy the non-stop thrill of the chase while dealing with the intrigue of slowly finding out just what Ms Marrillion knows that is worth all this trouble. This is the second book I've read now by this author and both were good fun and I look forward to reading many more.

Eyes on the Street should be made into a movie and I promise to be the first in line on opening night. It grabs the reader by the throat during the first few pages and it doesn't let go. It defines the phrase, "Hits the ground running". About the time you think you've figured it out, there's another twist that throws everything you think you know into doubt. Mr. Parker has a captivating writing style that effortlessly draws in his readers. The characters are realistic, touching, and relatable. There is plenty of practically non-stop action that makes it difficult to put the book down until the last page. I highly recommend it.

When I started this book, I wasn't sure if I was the target audience; it seemed to be aimed at young adults. But after a while, it didn't matter ... I was sucked into Lee's rollercoaster adventure! The writing style is so easy to read, and I just loved the characters and Lee's inner dialogue. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that I think the reason behind the whole plot is just a tad far-fetched and didn't quite gel with me, but the reason for the action ultimately falls away as the reader is swept along with it. My thanks to BookSirens for the opportunity to read it.
I agree with another reviewer who said that this book appears to be aimed at young adults, which is not what I was expecting. Despite this, it was well written and I enjoyed it anyway. The book is action packed but I think it could have been shorter without losing anything overall. The characters were good. I really liked Ms Marrillion - she had great attitude! I also enjoyed the descriptions of the settings. They were well written and I could visualise them. I was surprised by the way the story was told and how many secrets were hidden in the plot. It's amazing to read how a kid can transform himself in a "human protector" and assume risks he was not mature enough to hold (and he does!). It's interesting also to read about what is considered "old" in a youngster's mind. The story has a lot of action, mystery, parts that will make the reader laugh and others that will make you ponder about life. Beautifully written and entertaining! Really fun book. Short chapters but many/most have page turning ends where you want to start the next chapter. Makes it an easy/quick read. It’s a suspense book in plot but it’s a stealth love letter to Washington Heights. Its history, its people, and its geography. Honestly, not even that stealthy. Just a great NY love letter wrapped in a thriller. With a nice helping of humor. I’m friends with the author so I’m biased but thought he rocked this book.
