This was very enjoyable, low angst read and I am excited for the rest of the series! In true Luna Wilder fashion, these are REAL fated mates! They are each others one and only which is what fated mates are supposed to be! This is the story of Elle, a romance author vacationing in Alaska, also running from a stalker and her mate Niko, who is former military and now is on the rescue team with his other shifter buddies (all of which I am excited for their stories). He is all in and sweet from the very start, and I loved that. She on the other hand took a few days, but in less than a week she was hopelessly in love and connected to him in all ways! She was very sweet and loving to our Niko, she just needed a little longer for her mind to wrap around the fact that she found a read shifter and he is her mate.
They make it clear that shifters mate with their one and only and his shifter friends are like him, clueless about wooing a woman and have never dated. I love one true love, it is a tale that stands the test of time for a reason. When he says, "MINE!" she is ALL his in ALL ways, and when she bites his shoulder playfully and says, "MINE!", oh, *swoon* he really is ALL hers in ALL ways and that makes my hopelessly romantic heart happy! I am glad that when she did see that she was in love quicker than she thought, she cared about her man's comfort and decided to move to his quiet shifter town, so he can be comfortable. She was willing to move for him, because she knew that he would move to New York where she lives for her, but she thought of his comfort and I love that about her. Elle and Niko are easy to fall in love with and now I am looking forward to her bestie/cowriter to have her romance with a big, burly shifter next! I can't wait!! This is a series I am excited for!
I recommend it and I recommend reading Luna Wilder if you love DV/fated mate/one true love stories, she is the author for you. She is a safe author that respects the fated mate trope. There are no exes, no cheating EVER, they do not stray from one another, and they were never interested in others before they met or after. Their sexual awakening is when they find one another, and they experience romantic love for the first time together. Finding that is rare in romance in general, so when I find a DV author I latch on and drop everything to read her books.
As long as Luna Wilder gives us dual virgin romances, with heroes and heroines we root for,I will keep singing her praises!

If I could give this zero stars I would, just. What the hell man? This book is painfully short and awful. That mere 77 page count should be more than enough to deter anyone looking for more than a quick laugh. Half the book is just very boring sex. There's nothing too wrong with that if that's what you're into, but oh my gosh this sex isn't even funny or that interesting. If you're marketing your book as erotica, at least put some half decent porn in there. All it is is 2 very boring conventionally attractive straight people going at it as much as they can, being horribly obsessive for each other for practically no reason other than "it's fate!!"
The pacing is awful, it doesn't do anything to set up it's world or characters before making them meet and INSTANTLY fall in love just so they can bone as quickly as possible. It was hard to understand how lycanthropy worked in this universe because it didn't tell me until some shitty exposition told to the MC later. I could reread the early chapters with my new knowledge, but why bother? This book has absolutely nothing of substance. It was clearly pushed out as fast as possible with no regard for good writing or telling a compelling story, no memorable characters, no proper worldbuilding, not even good sex.
This book is a complete waste of time, thankfully it can be finished in about half an hour. If you're considering reading, DON'T. Anything else has more worth than this.

Needed more

Has a great baseline for a killer story but is extremely short. If it were longer giving us more insight to meeting his friends, his parents, or even what happened with the stalker, it would have given this book so much more.

Sooo short and definitely had major issues with pacing! Everything moved so fast and things were not fully explained? I also wished the author would spend more time with them falling in love. It happened all so fast and there really wasn’t any problems in the story. Overall it was pretty flat and honestly reminded me of a WattPad book written by a 15 year old 🫣

Steamy quick read

Some an Author desk idea to take a vacation to get away from a stalker. Even though she left her stalker follows her and attacks. Nicola a wolf shifter saves her and takes car of her. They fall in love.

This book has a lot of steamy scenes to the point I would have liked less.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Elle has a stalker and the police in New York have not been able to find him. Scared and stressed Elle, with the help of her best friend, decides to take a break and go to Aspen Ridge, Alaska. But the stalker follows here there and she’s attacked while walking outside her cabin. Thankfully Niko who works for Mountain Rescue and is a wolf shifter hears her and saves her.
He smells her while racing to her rescue and realizes she his mate, the stalker gets away while he tends to Elle’s injuries. She was chloroformed by the stalker so Niko shifts to human and carries her to his home. A little fast talking and he convinces Elle when she awakens that he’s not her assailant but her rescuer. He calls her his mate, being a romance writer Elle knows all about mates, but she thought that was all fiction. She’s amazed that shifters are real.
Soon they are feeling the shifter pull and have their first time together on the full moon. Dual virgins!
The rescue team, all shifters, are trying to find the stalker while protecting Elle. They finally track him down and Niko takes care of him. Elle tells him she doesn’t want to leave him and they confess their love. Cute epilogue five years later with two boys and Elle still writing romances with her best friend.
Would have liked to see who the stalker was, how he found Elle, and his take down.

The start of the Aspen Ridge Pack Mountain Rescue series an overprotective shifter and the mate who captures is undivided attention. Elle an author loves writing about shifters never thinking they are real, she loves what she does living in New York but not everything is good because a stalker is making her life miserable so her publisher tells her to get away staying safe and she heads off to Alaska ….yep her stalker followed her but fate has something more in store for our girl. Nico sexy as get out shifter has waited for his fated mate working with the Aspen Ridge Pack Rescue team seeing something new every day but the moment, he hears a young women screen he knows it is his mate so saving her becomes his priority and he gets to her in time right before she passes out taking her to his cabin not the one, she rented. Now comes the hard part explaining what he really is showing her he is willing to do anything to ensure her safety the magnetic pull is to intense to ignore no matter how hard she tried learning the truth that shifters were actually real was a shock in itself , to be fated to one an even bigger shocker, he saved her but will his team catch her stalker, will she convince her best friend who is also a writer of shifters romance to come live in Alaska, and can they find happiness so where along the adventure?

Elle lives in New York but has rented a cabin in the wilds of Alaska to escape her stalker. Getting increasingly frightened and with no realistic support from the police she is hiding out thinking that the isolation will throw him off. But she's jumped when she is out in the snow getting some fresh air. She wakes to find a stranger standing over her.

Niko has been running mountain rescue in Aspen Ridge since leaving the army. Whilst he is happy with his work and friends, he and his wolf are keenly missing finding his mate. Out patrolling he hears a scream and catches the most delicious scent and realises that his mate is nearby and in danger. When he finds her she is unconscious and bleeding but the masked man responsible takes one look at his wolf and runs.

Whilst he has successfully found and rescued his mate he now has to explain fated mates, keep her safe and persuade her to stay with him.

This is the first book in a new series from Aspen Ridge and is a thoroughly enjoyable page turner. Great to be back in Aspen Ridge and can't wait to read about the rest of the mountain rescue team.

Cute

I liked this book. It could use a little more detail work, for example:

He heads outside noting a few cabins are in the area.
"As I round a hill though, I pause. My wolf’s ears are piqued, listening for another sound. I could have sworn that I heard someone yell for help. I wait, tilting my head to try to pick up any sound. “Help!” Comes the scared voice and I’m off, charging through the snow towards the sound. We get closer and that’s when I smell her."

I feel like a little more detail on how far out the cabins were and the range of his hearing would have me helpful. And the same applies for smell. Did the wind change? It's his sense of smell just super powerful? I'm aware he's a wolf and some things can be inferred but a little more detail with less rushing would have be nice

Otherwise I really enjoyed the concept of the book and the storyline. And might I add it's refreshing to have the MCs adapt to situations so quickly and not have the traditional freak out when told about shifters. I also appreciate that our MCs smell different from cinnamon, man and spice. That gets old really fast, but lemon and sugar is new and I'm behind that. For a short story I thought this was well done.

Just… not great? Needs some editing to start with, but that’s the smallest issue.

I knew this one was short so I was hoping that the stalker plot line would make it worth it for me, but it was severely underwhelming. There was never a true sense of danger from the stalker and the resolution was very anticlimactic.

The romance was rushed, obviously, but that didn’t bother me much. What bothered me was how fast the FL just accepted that he was a shifter, even before seeing him shift. There is just no way that would happen… Not believable in the least.

Spicy scenes were written fine, but because we spend very little time with the characters before they get busy I just didn’t have any time to connect to them so I had no feelings whatever about their sex. MAYBE if the stalker plot was used efficiently, there would be moments to bond with the characters that would make us actually care about their love making and relationship. Quite a bit of telling and not showing in the romance development as well.

The writer has something, but needs to use those skills to do more.

This is book number 1 of the Aspen Ridge Pack: Mountain Rescue series and focuses on Niko and Elle. Elle is an author who is in Aspen Ridge to take a break from her life in New York and to get away from her stalker. Niko is back in Aspen Ridge after serving in the military and working for the mountain rescue when he catches his mate's scent when he is doing a check of the mountain. When he finds her, he sees her being attacked by her stalker. Thankfully he gets there in time and is able to rescue her. He brings her to safety and is determined to keep her safe from anything that threatens her safety or her happiness. Niko was determined to win over Elle’s heart and start the life he knew they were destined to have together. This was a great story and a great start to the Mountain Rescue series.

Niko is a 28 year old, hunky wolf shifter on the mountain rescue team in Aspen Ridge, Alaska. Elle has gone to Alaska to get away from a stalker. When she is attacked by him outside her cabin, Niko hears her screaming and knows she is his fated mate. He rescues her and takes her to his cabin. He tells her she is his fated mate and vows to protect her. What happens when she finds out he's a shifter? Will she stay or go? Can he keep her safe? I loved this couple!! The chemistry was hot, and we got a happy ending. Niko is totally swoon-worthy. I hope we get Tessa's story!! I'm looking forward to this new series.

Elle & Niko

Ein Buch das ganz anderes ist als das was ich erwartet habe, doch keinesfalls enttäuschend, denn mit ihrem leichten  Schreibstil, sowie der wechselnden Erzählperspektive beider Protagonisten hat die Autorin es geschafft eine kurze aber schöne Geschichte zu erzählen, auch wenn die Übersetzung leider mangelhaft ist, da immer eieder Sätze doppelt vorkommen oder Bezeichnungen wie Freund oder Kumpel auftreten, statt Freundin oder Gefährtin.

Die Storyline ist kurz gehalten und besitzt wenig Tiefe, doch dennoch bekommen wir abgesehen von ein wenig Spannung auch kurze aber ernste Gespräche.
Da die Handlungen allerdings alle sehr schnell passieren und alles aufeinmal kommt, bleibt vieles im Hintergrund oder wird einfach nur angedeutet.

Alles im allen eine kurze aber sehr schöne Geschichte für zwischendurch.

Saving His Future -
Elle thought escaping to a remote mountain cabin would keep her safe from her stalker, so she was shocked when he tried to kidnap her. Niko was just going about his business when he thwarted a kidnapping and discovered the victim was his fated mate. Elle was initially weary of Niko, until he explained who he was and what happened, as well as their connection. Spending time together brought them closer and led to them to engaging in carnal pleasures. After Elle was safe from her stalker, she realised she was in love Niko, so she agreed to stay and take a chance at a having future with him. This was a beautifully written story, that took me through a rollercoaster of emotions, but I really enjoyed reading it. I can surely say it was well worth the read.

Elle went to Alaska to away from her stalker her publisher asked her too to be safe. Niko was in his bear form when he heard Elle yell for help just before she was knocked out, her stalker found her when she was out walking. The stalker got away but he knew that his crew would find him so he took Elle to his cabin instead of hers to keep her safe. He told her that they were fated mates and a wolf shifter, she and her best friend wrote paranormal romance stories but didn’t realize that shifters were real. She talked her best friend into moving there with her so they could continue writing together. Good book!.

she’s got dismal survival instincts

She’s got a stalker but doesn’t spend enough time checking her surroundings for someone terrified of the dude following her. He rescues her but she was passed out at the time so doesn’t ACTUALLY know he’s safe at first— but confining that his eye color is different from that of her masked stalker calms her down. As if colored contacts aren’t a thing.

AND then the hero just blurts that he’s a shifter and they’re mates, which she takes at face value because even though she thought they were a myth, she’s a paranormal romance writer who happens to write about shifters so what he’s saying must be legit. Also, I love the fated mate trope, but hate when it gets conflated with love at first sight.

This novella is just as described- human (Elle) rescued and defended by the alpha (Niko). There’s not a lot of story line, because out of the 77 pages, I’d say 35 of those are spicy pages…. So not much space for a big story.

Elle is a romance writer from New York who is relaxing in a remote cabin in Alaska when a stalker finds & attacks her. Just as that’s happening, her fated mate hears her pleas for help, shifts into his wolf form and rescues her. We never really find out why she was being stalked, but not to worry- Niko and his pack of shifters “take care of” this guy.

Fated mates who fall madly in love in less than a week decide to spend the rest of their lives happily ever after.

I’m here for it. And yes- I’ll read more just like this one.

I loved Defended By The Alpha Book 1 of Aspen Ridge Pack: Mountain Rescue. Elle left NY to get away from her stalker. Unfortunately, he may have followed but thanks to Nico, he didn’t get her. Nico can’t believe he found his fated mate. Now he just has to explain to her that she’s his mate and what that means. Hopefully, she will understand and not want to leave Nico or Alaska. I loved this storyline and the characters. A little bit of drama with lots of steamy scenes. I would definitely recommend this book.

As soon as he hears her voice he knows that she is his one true mate, so he jumps into action to save her life. Elle was looking for an escape from the city and the stalker that continues to haunt her, but now he has followed her and her life is in danger still. When Nico rescues and takes care of Elle he knows she feels the connection between them but can he convince her that this is the real thing or will she still walk away after everything? Such a cute and steamy quick read with amazing characters and a fun story.

Running from a Stalker Into Love . . .

Elle rents a cabin in Aspen Ridge, hoping to escape a relentless stalker. Unfortunately, she is attacked by the stalker she tried to avoid. When Niko, head of Mountain Rescue, investigates a scream, he is able to save her. Although human, Elle is his fated mate. He sends a couple of his team after the man who attacked her. Then he carries her to his cabin and treats her wounds. When she awakens in a panic, he tells her he is a wolf shifter and that the men he works with on the rescue team are all shifters. Will she be willing to stay with him? Will he prove to her that they are meant to be and that he can keep her safe?

Elle needed a break from the stalker so she rents a cabin in Alaska. What should have been a relaxing get away turned out like being back home as the stalker followed her here. When she finds a man standing over her, she thinks this is it but instead he tells her she is his fated mate. Elle is a romance writer and never imagined the stories she wrote had some basis in fact.

Niko is excited for finally find his mate but there is someone trying to get to her. He will everything in his power to protect her. After that he will convince Elle they belong together.

A great start to a new series. This series brings us back to Aspen Ridge, this time with a group of ex military shifters who make up the area’s mountain rescue. Our female lead, Elle, is taking a break from life and dealing with the death of her father and a stalker, and that is when Niko finds her. The characters are sweet, the storyline has just enough drama and lots of heat - allowing the reader a little break from reality.

Fated Mate Found on Vacation

Elle is on a vacation to clear her writers block due to someone stalking her. While she is away, she is attacked but saved by her fated mate Niko who is a wolf shifter. This is her writing coming to life and she is unsure of her own feelings. As the story progresses so does the danger from her stalker and her emotions. Will they stay together in Aspen Ridge or be separated by her uncertainty? This was hard to put down since i really wanted to know that same answer.

Elle had taken a trip to Alaska to escape a stalker. Niko is a wolf shifter and part of the local mountain rescue team. When checking the area before a snow storm he hears a woman in trouble as he gets closer his wolf knows she is his fated mate and she in danger. Niko rescues Elle and keeps her safe. Sweet, steamy story with amazing chemistry, true love, a little danger, a loving, caring, protective hero and a wonderful HEA.

Elle needed a vacation hideaway to escape her stalker so she headed to a cabin in Aspen Ridge. I loved the way the author brought Niko and Elle together and how he goes into protective mode determined to keep her safe. This is a fast paced paranormal, shifter romance with likable characters, steam, and a good storyline. My only complaint is that I wish we would have gotten more about the stalker. Overall this is a great start to the Aspen Ridge Pack: Mountain Rescue series and I look forward to reading the rest of the books. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Niko and Elle

Elle is on the run from a stalker, and she leaves New York and heads to Colorado. Its winter and snowing and she is hoping the stalker won't find her! The stalker shows up and there is a fight between the two of them. Thankfully Niko hears Elle screaming for help, and the stalker runs off, and Niko takes Elle back to his cabin to patch up her injuries. Nino realizes that Elle is his mate! Does the stalker come after Elle again and capture her? Does Elle leave New York and move to Colorado to be with Niko? You will have to read the book to see what happens!

Short but Good

It’s a fast paced book. It lacked the drama which made it a simple read. I really wanted to have a more detailed plot. I ended with a couple questions unanswered. The spicy scenes were short but well explained. I was hoping for a bit more.(Which is the 4 stars rating.) Since it’s short, I don’t want to give away much without spoiling the majority of the book. But if you like short and spicy with tropes like insta love/ shifter/ fated mates/ strangers to lovers/ stalker/ touch her and die vibes this is just in ur alley. ¡Happy Reading!
